The very obvious mate behavior
Hunt risking his life to save Bryce :
Ruhn knew Sandriel had signed her own death warrant when she didnā€™t bring her triarii back with her. And stamped the official seal on it the moment sheā€™d revealed that sheā€™d put Bryce in the Asteriā€™s line of fire.
There was no hesitation in Hunt. No fear. Hunt leapt out of the helicopter, his wings tucked in tight. A one-way ticket. His last flight.
Azriel risking his life to save Elain:
From the shadows near the entrance to the tent, Azriel said, as if in answer to some unspoken debate, ā€œIā€™m getting her back.ā€ Nesta slid her gaze to the shadowsinger. Azrielā€™s hazel eyes glowed golden in the shadows. Nesta said, ā€œThen you will die.ā€ Azriel only repeated, rage glazing that stare, ā€œIā€™m getting her back.ā€
Az hadnā€™t so much as hesitated before going into the heart of Hybernā€™s war-camp.
Ruhn in Hosab telling Bryce that Hunt had displayed the first mate behavior towards her back when she was in danger during Hoeab :
This was how he was that day with Sandriel, Ruhn said into her mind. When he ripped off her head. He added tightly, You were in danger then, too.
And whatā€™s that supposed to mean?
Why donā€™t you tell me? You seem like you know what the fuck is happening with him. Ruhn glared at her as Hunt continued to glow and menace. It means that heā€™s going ballistic in the way that only mates can when the other is threatened. Itā€™s what happened then, and whatā€™s happening now.

Do you guys remember acofas special edition where Elain is holding a tulips bouquet?
Tumblr media
Or remember when her sister feyre painted tulips on Elain's drawer:
I slung off my outer clothes onto the sagging dresserā€”frowning at the violets and roses Iā€™d painted around the knobs of Elainā€™s drawer.
Or Remember when Elain was compared to a tulip bloom :
But Elain wrapped her own blue cloak around herself, averting her eyes from all of those towering, muscled warriors, the army camp bustling toward the horizon ā€¦ She was a rose bloom in a mud field. Filled with galloping horses.
Do you remember when she missed flowers, and her father, with whom she was close, out of all the species, carved her a wooden tulip? Yeah, I remember:
She plucked another figurine from the mantel: a rose carved from a dark sort of wood. She held it in her palm, its solid weight surprising, and traced a finger over one of the petals. ā€œHe made this one for Elain. Since it was winter and she missed the flowers.ā€
But wait, can you imagine what Azriel gifted her?
It was a small, flat rose fashioned of stained glass, designed so that when held to the light, the true depth of the colors would become visible. A thing of secret, lovely beauty.
A tulip necklace. Yes, he doesn't know Elain well, he doesn't even know her favorite flower.
which is a rose because one time she heard about a roses field in the continent and wanted to visit it with Feyre :
ā€œThese bulbs,ā€ Elain said, pointing with a gloved hand to a cluster of purple-and-white flowers, ā€œcame all the way from the tulip fields of the continent. Father promised that next spring heā€™ll take me to see them."
They sound like this šŸ™‚

Elriel šŸŒøšŸ—”ļø
I mentioned that there will be many parallels between Daynight and Elriel before Hofas came out, and indeed, there were parallels, such as the copy pasting of the Elriel bonus scene.
Now Lidia thinking this:
Tumblr media
Marriage is permanent beyond even the mating bond, excuse me? doesn't that sound like something Elain would think.
Marriage goes beyond any biological or instinctual bond. It's a conscious choice, your choice to commit, share your life, and become a family with the person you love and have chosen as your partner.
"Love would trump even a mating bond"
"Elain shall wed for love and beauty"
Waiting for the Elriel parallel šŸ„°

Mating bond
A lot of antis say that Azriel will be the example of when someone doesn't know that the other person is his mate, and they use it as an excuse for Az preferring to go save Eris, even though deep down they really wanted him to react, and the proof is how much they highlight 'Siphons gleaming'.
Anyway, acting protective towards his mate and going ballistic if she's in danger doesn't have anything to do with knowing that the bond exists because when she's his mate, it becomes an instinct that he has to protect her, and it's not something he can control or suppress. For example, Night didn't know that Day is his mate yet when he thought she was in danger he didn't think twice about going on a suicidal mission to save her, and even after knowing that she's the hind, he was constantly repeating that he wants to kill Pollux for what he does to her regardless that he hates her for the moment.
That's what Sarah's does when she wants to tell you that these two are mates, it's not the glow, spark or dance. She simply makes the male extremely protective and highlights it on many occasions, plus the scent after having sex. If she wanted to hint that Azriel and Gwyn are mates the blood rite was the great opportunity for her to do it.
So yes, Azriel not giving a damn about Gwyn in the blood rite debunked every mating bond theory.

SJM wrote this :
"It was a story my mother told me," she said softly. "The only story I remember her telling me as a child before she ... let me go." He'd been about to ask if the similarities between the evil prince and Pollux, the kind knight and himself, had been meant prophetically, but at the sadness in her voice . . . ā€œI'm really sorry you went through that, Lidia. I can't imagine doing that to a child.
The story about the witch that Lidia's mother told her was meant in a prophetic way.
Sjm also wrote;Mama Archeron :
Elain shall wed for love and beauty
So just prepare yourself, we're celebrating love in the next book.
Also, How could you read such a thing and think three brothers and three sisters would be a clichƩ?
My headcanon is that there will be a parallel between Ruhn realizing that the story Lidia's mother told her about the witch is a prophecy and Azriel realizing that three brothers and three sisters are a prophecy.

Sjm foreshadowing is just very obvious
Acomaf:
I smiled at the thoughtā€”at how handsome they would be together. If the warrior ever stopped quietly loving Mor. I doubted it. Azriel would likely love Mor until he was a whisper of darkness between the stars.
Acosf :
He was still happy to be Morā€™s buffer with Azriel, but thereā€™d been a change lately. In both of them. Mor no longer sat beside Cassian, draped herself over him, and Azriel ā€¦ those longing glances toward her had become few and far between. As if heā€™d given up. After five hundred years, heā€™d somehow given up. Cassian couldnā€™t think why.
Az finally got over Mor. Wow, wonder why
Azriel stood in the doorway, monitoring them. As if heā€™d heard Elainā€™s sharp laugh and wondered what had caused it. ā€œ.... ā€Nesta met the shadowsingerā€™s stare and he gave her a nod. Then his gaze shifted to Elain, and though it was utterly neutral, something charged went through it. Between them. Elainā€™s breath caught slightly.
The answer :Elain Archeron
SJM had a plan since acomaf and made it happen.
Woow, Elain and Azriel would make a very beautiful couple if only he got over Mor.
Wait, he got over her? And because of Elain? What a surprise

Elain's Spying mission šŸ•µļø
So I've been thinking about where Elain, Nuala, and Cerridwen would pass their spying mission. I think the plan would be that just the three of them could go, Az should not. The first place I thought about is the Autumn Court. Beron might be interested in meeting Elain if he knows about her powers, and gathering intel on his relationship with Koschei could be crucial, so if Eris couldn't bring some information I think Elain would go. Also, exploring this court could lay the groundwork for a Vassien novel or novella. The second place I considered is the Court of Nightmares. Little is known about this city, even Rhys didn't know about its underground passages. Perhaps it was once ruled by a daglan, explaining its hideousness and the traditions of its inhabitants. Bringing intel from there and exploring Hewn City could be very interesting.

I really wonder if Bryaxis will make an appearance in Elain's book, since the last time it was Az who was looking for him. I think he was a creation of the Daglan, as he knew the Bone Carver, which means he also knows Koschei. So, he probably has some stories and important information to tell, especially if he was imprisoned in the library by Silene.
Also, Elain would have a full shadow gang šŸ˜ƒ

Azriel /Shadowsinger;Starborn
I wanted to write about why I believe Az has a secret starborn lineage ever since Hofas was released, so here it is:
Acomaf : ā€œLike the daemati,ā€ Rhys said to me, ā€œshadowsingers are rareā€”coveted by courts and territories across the world for their stealth and predisposition to hear and feel things others canā€™t.ā€
Rhys compared Daemati to the shadowsingers because they're both rare.
Hofas: My story begins before I was born." The female's voice was heavy-weary. Tired and sad. "During a time I know of only from my mother's stories, my father's memories." She lifted a finger to the space between her brows. "Both of them showed me once, mind-to-mind. So I shall show you."
Thea and Fionn were Daemati, so it's a power of the Dusk Court people.
Hosab: Night haired Helena, from whose golden skin poured starlight and shadows Hofas : My mother eventually trusted only Helena and myself to seek the truth. She knew we could be of great use to her, because we bore the shadows as well as starlight. We spent a month hidden in the enemy's stronghold, no more than shadows ourselves. By the time we returned to our mother, we'd learned the truth.
Helena and Silene both possessed the power of shadows, they worked as spies because of it. Light and shadows are the power of the Dusk.
Conclusion :Both Daemati and Shadowsingers are Dusk Court people's powers, and they are rare in Prythian because most of them left for Midgard.
Acofas: Though the cobalt Siphons were proof that his Illyrian heritage ran true, even the rich lore of that warrior-people, my warrior-people, did not have an explanation for where the shadowsinger gifts came from. They certainly werenā€™t connected to the Siphons, to the raw killing power most Illyrians possessed and channeled through the stones to keep from destroying everything in its path. Azriel nodded his agreement, his shadows twining around him. Most of the camp women had ducked into their homes when heā€™d appeared. A rare visit from the shadowsinger. Both myth and terror. Az looked just as displeased to be here, but heā€™d come when I asked.
The Illyrians have absolutely no idea where Azriel's power came from. It's not related to their own magic, and he's even somewhat of a myth to them. I think if his power came from a special Illyrian lineage like Enalius, they would know, given their attachment to their culture and history.
*Shadows nature and abilities :
I'll start with Bryce comparing Azriel's shadows to Cormac's shadows:
Hofas:
Azriel, without Rhysand to translate, watched in silence. Bryce could have sworn shadows wreathed him, like Ruhn's, yet... wilder. The way Cormac's had been.
And then Az admitting that it's a magical power:
The shadows are made of magic, just very condensed.
Hosab,Cormac :
ā€œYou can teleport,ā€ Bryce said, voice low..... Well, that explained how heā€™d shown up at Ruhnā€™s house party.... Once heā€™d had them, heā€™d simply walked right out of a shadow in the doorway.
ā€œWhere did you inherit the ability from?ā€ Cormac squared his shoulders, every inch the proud prince as he said, ā€œIt was once a gift of the Starborn."
And then back to Hosab, Cormac says that his ability to winnow is because he's Starborn. We also know that Azriel can winnow through shadows, which could be attributed to his secret Fae lineage.
_Also There are similarities between Cormac's father, the twins' power, and Az's power :
Hofas: Shadows whispered over Morven's broad shoulders, trailing off his scaled armor. "He was a defiant boy. I thought I'd beaten it out of him long ago." Acomaf: It was an effort not to stare at Azriel as he watched them head up the steep street, arm in arm and bickering with every step. The shadows gathered around his shoulders, like they were indeed whispering to him, shielding him, perhaps.
The shadows talk to Morven just like they talk to Azriel.
Hofas: The twins opted to live. A shield of shadows slammed against the reaching spears of lightning. It was all Bryce needed to see before she burst into motion.
Acowar : ā€œEnough, Azriel,ā€ Rhys ordered. Perhaps those shadows that now slid and eddied around the shadowsinger hid him from the wrath of the binding magic. The others made no move to interfere, as if wondering the same.
The Twins' shadows were able to shield them from Hunt's Lightning just like the shadows shielded Azriel in the High Lords meeting, and nobody understood how it was possible.
*Last but not least :
About the troves :
Nesta stiffened. ā€œIf theyā€™re all enchanting you to forget, how is it that Azriel was able to remember and bear the information here?ā€ ā€œPerhaps once you learn of it, recognize it, the spell is broken,ā€ Amren said
Azriel was the one who brought the information about the troves . I think it could simply be because he's Starborn, so he has the ability to still remember them.
And of course, the last thing is him being able to wield the Starsword:
The male now held the Starsword at the ready, Truth-Teller gripped in his other hand.He must have had some sort of Starborn blood in him, then-a distant ancestor, maybe. Or maybe his possession of the knife somehow allowed him to also bear the Starsword.
After Hunt's daddies issues, I know that she could make Az somehow special, Illyrian-made, but I think this makes more sense and is more interesting: we know that his father is an Illyrian lord, but we don't know anything about his mother. Perhaps she could be a half-breed, he would still look like a full Illyrian but with a special power from his Fae lineage.

Elriel šŸŒ¹šŸ—”ļø
Elain peered up at Cassian, blinking twice. ā€œHe snapped your wings, broke your bones.ā€ I tried to shut out the sound of Cassianā€™s screamā€”the memory of the spraying blood. Nesta stared at her plate. Elain, at least, was out of her room, but ā€¦ ā€œItā€™ll take more than that to kill me,ā€ Cassian said with a smirk that didnā€™t meet his eyes. Elain only said to Cassian, ā€œNo, it will not.ā€ Cassianā€™s dark brows narrowed. I dragged a hand over my face before going to Elain and touching her too-bony shoulder. ā€œCan I set you up in the garden? The herbs you planted are coming in nicely.ā€ ā€œI can help her,ā€ said Azriel, stepping to the table as Elain silently rose. No shadows at his ear, no darkness ringing his fingers as he extended a hand. Nesta monitored him like a hawk, but kept silent as Elain took his hand, and out they went.
Sometimes I wonder if Elain and Az both knew about her vision of Cassian and Nesta dying because he was there when she told them the vision. It was him who took her to the garden, at that time he was trying to figure out what had changed in her, and in their next scene, he revealed that she's a seer with 'we're the ones who need her.' Also, the 'mission completed' way when she gave him back the TT.
I'm not worried about the killing credit or Az not confirming yet that it's Elain who killed the Koh because I think there is a reason. The whole scene was a mystery, we suspected that it was the TT's magic, but it wasn't confirmed until Hofas when we learned that it flows with shadows, represents shadows of the dusk, and it should be ordered by the right person to work.
The Truth-Teller is something that Elain and Azriel share, and I think when the scene is brought up again, there are some explanations to make. Like how he found the dagger, how he knew about its magical ability, and whether he knew that Elain could use it. Did Elain see the whole vision, including her using the TT and interfering to kill the Koh, or did she act on her own, and using the TT was 'like call to like,' meaning she naturally knew how to command it? In my opinion, I believe it's the latter choice, where she changed what was destined to happen, surprising even the Cauldron.
Explaining all of this couldn't have been done before Hofas because we weren't supposed to know about the TT's magic. The right time to bring it again and give Elain the credit now is in her book.
I understand that people are frustrated after Hofas because a lot of the plot seemed to be dropped, but I hope that won't happen in Acotar especially that scene because Elain using Gwydion's twin properly was definitely a very important thing.
