I should draw the four of them together someday
âI love Steve as Captain Americaâ, âI love Sam as Captain Americaâ, and âI love Peggy as Captain Carterâ are all ideas that can co-exist. In fact, theyâre ideas that SHOULD co-exist because all three characters are awesome.

Just realized that I accidentally instinctively tagged this as daredevil at first

When Matt said âshe is important to meâ in relation to Karen I felt that.

good morning to people who push their friends away so that they donât get hurt because of them, people who grew up in small towns in Vermont where the most exotic food available is french fries, lawyers whose moms wanted them to become butchers, harbingers of death and destruction who are never truly too far gone, guys with hipster beards, and women who look like Elle Woods after she graduated but have immense pegging energy

I know right? The whole situation is just so devastating and I still havenât fully recovered
Say what you will about the Defenders, but the collapse of Midland Circle and its immediate aftermath is deeply emotionally evocative. The collapse of the building itself is reminiscent of 9/11 (building collapse in New York? Hard not to be) and there is the aching sense of knowing everyone on-site has that Matt is still inside. Pair that up with the gorgeous cinematography of Elektra and Matt embracing as the dust and rubble come down on them and the subsequent scene of the empty precinct doorway, where Karen and Foggy are waiting for him to appear, hoping, dreading, praying, and itâs powerful enough to bring to tears to my eyes even though Iâm watching it for the umpteenth time.Â
The score too, captures the tragedy of the moment perfectly. Hats off to John Paesano for pulling off a great score in a show with so many competing characters with distinct energies (and themes of their own made by other composers).

Knowing that Matt is still alive doesnât make this scene hurt any less

[image ID: a triangle alignment chart with pictures of Matt Murdock, Foggy Nelson, and Karen Page from the Netflix Daredevil series in each of the corners. Foggyâs picture is at the top, labeled âhas a functional number of brain cells.â Karenâs picture is at the bottom right, labeled âseems like they have a functional number of brain cells, doesnât.â Mattâs picture is on the bottom left, labeled âreally should have a functional number of brain cells, but doesnât.â End. thinking about how Stick taught Matt that he could only be strong if he was alone and he was ten and believed it. thinking about how Matt internalized it so hard that he probably didn't have many friends in middle school and high school and undergrad. thinking about how he showed up at law school and Foggy wouldn't take no for an answer to the question that was Matt's friendship. thinking about how Matt saw Foggy as an exception to the rules he still tried to follow because it was all he really knew. thinking about how Karen became an exception on accident and Matt didn't know what to do except love her. thinking about how Matt comes to realize that strength is in relationships because relationships give motivation and reason to keep going and something to hold on to when things are falling apart. thinking about how Matt loves with his whole heart and can't stop even when he tries so he finally learns to stop trying. thinking about how even when Matt thought he was alone and tried to be alone there were people who refused to let go, who held on tighter every time he tried to shake them lose.
