I was surprised to see so much negativity in response to the latest leaks. I'm doubly surprised to see so many people thinking that this was out of the blue or unpredictable. I actually saw a reddit post lay it out almost exactly as it happened. I remember thinking, "oh, I don't think Gege will do that, but I would love for that to be the case."

I feel bad for doubting it now because my hesitation was that it made too much sense with all of the various chaotic breadcrumbs over the past 50ish chapters. I lowered my standards too much lol, sorry Greg! I have a lot of complaints with the writing of JJK, but they are mostly about the pacing, power system, and usage of the characters, not about the themes and execution of those themes.

Thematically, I think the events of 261 are perfect, and it is exactly the type of emotional payoff I wanted out of Gojo and Geto's death and Yuta's stress. I know there's a lot of Gojo girlies out there, but truly, the worst thing you could do for the character is bring him back. I'm so thankful that Gege didn't do that. I wouldn't have hated the left eye/six eyes sacrifice, but this is so so so much better for all three of our special grade sadboys. I haven't been this happy with and creatively fueled by a chapter since 236.

Anyway, if you think JJK just got bad, you have Missed The Entire Point.

Megumi found him, passed out in a meadow. Pollen stuck in tufts of pinkish blonde and the sun shining down in swathes across his face, catching on scars, kissing into indents of scabbed skin. Yuuji had never looked more beautiful to him, at peace for once; no subtle tilt to his brow, no absence in his eye, nothing able to eat him from the inside out when his mind was gone, drifting to sleep. Dandelions and daffodils, framing his body in a golden silhouette that was half-removed from the corruption of Jujutsu society. A slumber in which none of the burdens of the world weighed him down, and if it were up to Megumi, he'd never wake Yuuji up again if it weren't for the fact that he would miss his warmth, his smile, his light.

Brushing petals from his lips, feeling every nerve unnumb from his fingertips to the nape of his neck — just a bit of Yuuji was all it took for Megumi to become aware of his own heart, and how it drummed in his chest to the beat of Yuuji's breaths. Dewy grass soaking into the fibres of his shirt, mud and dirt, the smell of a storm coming, but Megumi laid his head next to Yuuji's and met him once again, in a dream of better days.

itafushi hc #15 ; though it wasn't requited (as yuta was too old 4 him) megumi's gay awakening was in fact yuta. he later admits this to yuji, only for yuji to get bitter and pouty about it and began trying to show off in front of yuta. the two thus have a sort of friendly rivalry, mainly for jokes at this point (and mainly onesided on yuji's side as yuta really has nothing 2 argue for), and megumi is exasperated by it & the fact he has to reassure yuji whenever yuta does something impressive in front of them.

further explanation of my criticism of JJK

JJK SPOILERS

i understand about the fast pacing being the POINT to show how rushed the cast is and how chaotic the entire fight against sukana it - but it could be done so much better ! when compared to the cimera ant arc in HxH when it went by SO FAST and so much plot happened at once, we were still able to see characters genuinely suffer, and create emotional attachments to them.

The problem with jjk is that the emotional plot lines and bonds that the series started with have essentially dissipated within the last 100 chapters, leavinf characters feel like shells of themselves, leading to Gojo not reacting to Nanamis death, or Megumis take over, and now again, Shoko.

AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE TIME SKIP BETWEEN GOJOS UNSEALING AND THE FIGHT- ik we have flashbacks here and there to try justify the bullshit that gege is writing but CMON MAN

Sure ! it’s never boring, but it’s hard to feel anything but frustration with the series atm (in my opinion)

i LIKE the tragic aspect of using Gojos body, i like the tragedy of using him as a weapon even in death, the only thing i had an issue with was how it clashes with the arc of his death and the lack of emotional, or slower pace- maybe i’m just bitter bc i miss gojo 💀💀

BUT i have been saying this for the longest time

but i still stand by that Yuta is the worst character in the series and i hate him
