OC Kiss Week 2024: Sunrise
Still doing this little challenge this week, since I didn't manage to do it all last week, with my FFXIV character and his husband (@kitshunette’s son)!
Also, I’m not much of a writer, but I decided to write a little something for each drawing, little windows in their story (which is also why I’m using the @ockissweek prompt list but not in order)
“Look, the sun’s rising.”
Jisul looked up from his book. Eli and him had spent the whole night peering over complex diagrams and dusty volumes to prepare for their upcoming evaluation, and it seemed as if they would never be done with it.
“Should we head outside for a bit?”, the Au Ra proposed, stretching his stiff back, “it might do us some good.”
“Hm mh.”
An appreciative sound came from Eli, and Jisul could have sworn this was not only in response to his invitation as he caught the slightly flushed ear tips of his boyfriend. He smiled to himself, quite pleased with the reaction. He made a mental note of wearing that cleaved top more often.
They stood up and headed towards the balcony, basking in the first rays of light that illuminated the snowy landscape spreading at their feet. Eli yawned, and rubbed his eyes.
“I swear to Halone, we should just be able to throw the cards themselves as weapons. I’m convinced big sister could design some deadly ones.”
The tan man shook his head slightly before smiling at Jisul.
“But it was nice spending that night studying with you.”
It was Jisul’s turn to emit an appreciative sound that was not only answering to the expressed feeling. His breath had caught somewhere along his heart as the Elezen had turned to face him, the sunrise’s glow landing right on his face. And with it, Eli’s eyes had taken a warmer color than usual.
It was a strange trick of the light, sometimes even the weather. The usually clear eyes would suddenly shift colors, as if reflecting the Elezen’s mood. In some instances, the change was subtle, they were bluer, colder, and Eli was standing fierce on the battlefield, the determination to protect his people evident in his attitude. At other times, they were warmer, like the subdued orange they were currently displaying, and a soft tenderness emanated from Eli.
---
The first time Jisul noticed the change, it was after a long day of class. Elidivien and him had stolen a few moments in the gardens, before the Elezen would head back to his home and the Au Ra to his dorms.
It had been some months since Jisul had started attending the college, and he was already looking forward to those fleeting moments when it felt as if they were the only people to exist. Elidivien was letting the last light of the day warm his face, and he was saying something. However Jisul had absolutely no idea what he was saying, because at that exact moment, he had impulsively reached out to tuck a strand of hair that obscuring the Elezen’s face, including his eye and scarred cheek.
“Your eyes… They changed color.”
Jisul had said that with a small feeling of wonder. The man standing in front of him was somehow frozen in place, his eyes going wider and wider as Jisul’s hand rested on his cheek. The Au Ra’s brain had a sudden call back to reality and he took his hand off quickly, feeling mortified.
“I’m sorry, it’s just, I’ve never seen your eyes change like that and-”
He stopped before the embarrassing truth could come out. Elidivien, however, seemed to have recovered from his previous frozen state, and jokingly pursued the end of the sentence.
“And what? You can not leave me hanging like that, it’s rude.”
“…. it’s pretty.”, whispered Jisul.
If he could instantly disappear from the surface of Eorzea, he would in a heartbeat. For a second, Elidivien looked as if he was wishing the exact same thing, before regaining his composure.
“Well, thank you”, the Elezen smiled softly.
When Elidivien left the garden with a much more quicker pace than usual, Jisul thought he felt shy. But Jisul knew better, and decided he was overthinking things.
---
Once again, Eli’s eyes had taken on the warm hue of a shy sun, and once again Jisul had reached out to tuck away the hair obscuring his face. The only difference was that this time Eli did not freeze at the touch, instead nuzzling slightly into the palm resting on his cheek. Jisul’s thumb softly caressed the scar, admiring the planes and angles of the Elezen’s face, finally resting upon his almost liquid golden eyes. He approached closer to his boyfriend, and softly kissed his cheek. He could feel Eli smiling happily while he enveloped him in a hug.
Jisul wished he could be the only one to see Eli this close during sunrises and sunsets. So that the beautiful warm eyes could only look at him, and so that he could be the only one to gaze into them. His secret.

OC Kiss Week 2024: Rain
Still doing this little challenge this week, since I didn't manage to do it all last week, with my FFXIV character and his husband (@kitshunette’s son)!
Also, I’m not much of a writer, but I decided to write a little something for each drawing, little windows in their story (which is also why I’m using the @ockissweek prompt list but not in order)
I actually got overly excited over this one, even though this is not a paper made for very detailed illustration and I wanted to keep things simple,,,,, but it took form under my eyes and I couldn't stop,,,,,,
Eli decided he did not like the rain.
He frowned, glaring at the window of his bedroom, where he could see the heavy pouring that was currently taking place outside. It had been raining without a moment of rest since yesterday’s first light, and it showed no sign of stopping. Eli dramatically sighed. He was supposed to be on a date this evening, and yet he was stuck in his room - well, more accurately, in his bed. Apparently going out under the rain in a cropped vest and shorts was incompatible with the concept of being healthy, and he had caught a nasty cold.
He shivered a little, and concluded that since his night was ruined, he might as well give up and transform himself into a burrito. Just as he finished wrapping his long limbs inside the warm blanket, he heard a little rasp against his door.
“You can come in.”, he grumbled.
It was either his big sister coming to offer him some medicine, or her wife, who would never pass out the opportunity of snatching the warm cup of milk that was on his bedside table.
Except it was neither of them, and a much taller shape appeared at the door frame, hovering anxiously.
“Shashahua told me you caught a cold, and that you were stuck in bed. I wanted to check on you, are you feeling better?”, the blue haired man asked, a worried look on his face.
Eli felt a rush of very different emotions all at once. Happiness at seeing the familiar face of his now boyfriend. Embarrassment from getting sick just before their date. Flattered that he would still come to see him. Relief that his nose had stopped producing indecent amounts of snot a bit earlier in the afternoon. Mortified that he was currently looking like some kind of giant slug.
He coughed a little, hoping to distract Jisul while he tried to smoothly move the blanket around so that he would not look like he was being eaten by it.
“I’m feeling better this morning. You didn’t have to come you know?”, Eli started then promptly added, “No that’s not it, I’m actually really happy you’re here. Thank you.”
He could feel his face flaring up, and hoped the Au Ra would mistake it for the fever. Why did he have to be like that?
Jisul beamed, and Eli belatedly realized he had come all the way to his bedside. He scooted over a little, a shy unspoken invitation. An invitation promptly accepted, as his boyfriend sat next to him on the bed, looking a bit pink at the cheeks.
“I’m sorry we couldn’t go on our date. I know you wanted to see the Starlight festivities, and I wanted to see them with you too.”, Jisul said in a small voice.
He looked really dejected, as if the weather was somehow something he could have prevented. Well, knowing him, if he could do it for Eli, he would. And Eli would do the same.
The Elezen reached a hand outside the blanket, and took Jisul’s hand in his.
“You don’t have to be sorry for that. We can always see them later,” Eli softly said, “or even next year.”
Pulling the hand towards him, he gave it a gentle kiss. Speaking of future dates gave him butterflies, and he tried his best to stay casual. They started dating not so long ago after all, and even though they had a crush on each other for the longest time, at least according to his big sister and her wife, wasn’t he being a bit forward?
“Sounds good to me. Next year and the following years to come would be nice.”
Eli’s heart made a somersault. Jisul was looking at him with crescent eyes, full of a confident love. When their eyes met, they both blushed before turning slightly away, overwhelmed by the sudden confession.
“I should go”, Jisul started after a few moments of comfortable silence, “you need to rest more-”
“Can’t you stay a little?”
Eli was actually not ready to let him go, even though he was indeed starting to feel tired and in need of a nap.
“Please. Until I fall asleep?”, he pleaded.
As if pleading was necessary, considering Jisul had not even made the slightest movement to remove himself from the bed.
“Can I? What about your sister?”
The Au Ra looked a bit intimidated at the idea of getting told off by the Lalafell.
Eli chuckled.
“It’s fine. She and Sisi are probably expecting you to stay so they don’t have to worry about me.”
And so they can tease me come tomorrow.
Jisul laughed a little, and opened his arms. Eli found himself wrapped in a soft embrace and snuggled closer to his boyfriend’s chest. The Au Ra was more on the cold side in terms of body heat, but it balanced nicely with the warmth from the blanked and his fever.
“Should I sing you a lullaby?”
“Hm.”
Eli closed his eyes, unable to fight the drowsiness, as Jisul started to sing a soft ballad in Xaela.
Eli decided he liked the rain a little after all.

OC Kiss Week 2024: Dare
Doing this little challenge this week, with my FFXIV character and his husband (@kitshunette's son)!
Also, I'm not much of a writer, but I decided to write a little something for each drawing, little windows in their story (which is also why I'm using the @ockissweek prompt list but not in order)
That one was supposed to be posted on Valentine's day but it was!! so difficult to write!!!! So anyway, here it is now
Where is he?
Jisul’s eyes anxiously scanned the battlefield around him. The battle lasted for what seemed forever, but eventually came to a close. Not that it was quieter now than during the actual fighting. The dragons had made a lot of damages, and flames rose to the sky, ash mingling with the falling snow. People were calling out for healers left and right, and some, just like him, were calling for specific people - family, friends… Loved ones.
All in all, it was a mess of different sounds and noises, and the Au Ra was having trouble processing all the information his horns picked up. The fact that he was feeling even more distressed by the second did not help.
One thing was for sure: he could not find Eli. They had been separated during the battle, and Jisul had felt the healing magic he received take on a different color, which could only mean that Eli had been too far to reach him with his own magic.
Blinking, Jisul tried to take a deep breath, fighting against another kind of monster in his chest. His anxiety was starting to be uncontrollable. He had sworn to himself he would protect the Elezen, and instead he could not even see him now.
The noise was definitely becoming too much. Somewhere in the distance, he saw a Miqo’te tending to a Lalafell, both looking quite exhausted, but, fortunately, not in a bad shape. When they saw him in return, as if they could read his mind before he could even get the question out, they both shook their head. Eli’s big sister, the Lalafellin woman, opened her mouth while gesturing in another direction. Jisul guessed she might have said something, but was unable to hear anything. More exactly, all sounds had fused into one big white noise, and he could not make any sense of what he was hearing anymore. He bowed his head in a silent thanks, and started heading where she had pointed to. The white noise was fuzzing in his head, along with his distress in his chest.
This is not helping.
Pressing back tears that were uncomfortable starting to well in his eyes, he tried once more to scan over his surroundings. It was starting to look a lot like another scene in his mind, a scene from his memories, yet not his memories. He had not thought about the vision he had when he first met Eli in months, however it was resurfacing. The past grief and loss started to creep on him, and Jisul pushed it down fiercely. Eli was not lost. He just had to find him.
“ul”
Admist the white noise, his horns picked up a sound.
“-sul!”
It was getting clearer by the second, as carried by a fast wind.
“JISUL!”
Jisul turned back, only to catch in his arms the tall Elezen that was barreling to him. His eyes widened a little, and the tears escaped, full on display as they traced a path on his cheeks. Eli was in his arms, looking him over worriedly with glassy eyes.
Oh.
He’s crying.
He’s crying for me.
It was a wondrous feeling, somehow. His anxiety was washed over by a tsunami of love for the one in his arms, and then there was no time to think.
They were kissing. The kiss tasted of snow and salt.
It was bold, daring even, but Jisul decided he did not care. He would think about his actions later. He thought he heard the hearty laugh of a Roegadyn, and Stephanivien saying he needed to find his fireworks. But he did not care, because right this instant, what mattered was embracing him, and he could not waste more time trying to downplay his own feelings.
Jisul loved Eli, plain and simple.
And if anything, the way the the Elezen smiled at him after their kiss, Eli loved Jisul, plain and simple.

OC Kiss Week 2024: Almost
Doing this little challenge this week, with my FFXIV character and his husband (@kitshunette's son)!
Also, I'm not much of a writer, but I decided to write a little something for each drawing, little windows in their story (which is also why I'm using the @ockissweek prompt list but not in order)
Elidivien blocked the coming blow, and tried to land one in return. It was promptly deflected and both he and his sparring partner took a step back, assessing the situation. The Au Ra in front of him was holding his wooden staff in a way that spoke of years of experience. Unlike what you would expect from an Astrologian student. Well, that made sense, Elidivien considered for a second. He was the one who asked Jisul to spar with him when he discovered that he was a dragoon first and foremost, and that the only reason he entered the school was to broaden his skill set. He had been pleasantly surprised to learn that, and even more pleased to realize that they had something in common. Elidivien had lived his first years in a dragoon barracks, and holding a lance was second nature to him, but not many of his Astrologian friends wanted to train with him.
Except now he was maybe starting to regret his decision. It was an even match, which meant they were giving it their all, which in turn meant flushed skin, sweat adding a glow to said flushed skin, muscled arms on display. All of that made him feel like a band rowdy Moogles had taken up residency in his stomach. He wondered what the blue haired man in front of him was feeling, before shaking his head to get rid of those thoughts.
Focus.
He lunged once more, but his foot caught on something on the ground.
Uh oh.
Elidivien lost his balance completely, and went tumbling straight into Jisul’s arms. Surprised by the sudden weight crashing into him at full speed, the Au Ra’s footing slipped under them, and Elidivien closed his eyes, bracing for the impact.
When he opened them after a second, Jisul’s face was right in front of his own, his bodyright under his. Embarrassingly, Elidivien realized he had put his left hand behind Jisul’s head, instinctively trying to prevent him from bumping it too hard on the ground. A useless endeavor, as the horns adorning his friend’s head prevented him for hitting his head anyway. Then Elidivien became conscious of the closeness of their bodies.
The Elezen had landed right on top of the Au Ra, and he could not decide what was the most embarrassing par of the whole situation. Him tripping on seemingly nothing? Him trying to protect his friend’s head? What about the fact that Jisul’s cold hands had caught his waist, and that he could feel the long fingers handling him with a strong grip yet the most delicate touch, as if he did not want to break him? Or maybe, maybe, the fact that Elidivien’s mouth had stopped just short of landing right on Jisul’s? The whole thing was mortifying, Elidivien decided, and he could feel the blood rushing to his face and ears. He tried to convince himself that the blush could be mistaken for being caused by the sparring itself rather than this unfortunate incident.
“Did you hurt yourself anywhere?”
Jisul’s concerned voice rose, and the tan man snapped back to the moment, rising himself a little away from the pale man’s face. Doing that, he caught Jisul’s face in its entirety, and wondered if it had been that red before the tumbling.
“I’m fine… My foot must have caught on something.”, Elidivien offered as an explanation, “Thank you for catching me.”
“Anytime.”
His friend smiled softly, and Elidivien’s heart skipped a beat. Jisul looked unfazed, however the Elezen glimpsed his tail flapping rapidly back and forth. He suddenly became aware that he was still being embraced on the ground, and he quickly got up completely, helping Jisul at the same time.
“Should we take a short break?”, Jisul asked, fanning himself lightly with his hand, “I need some water.”
“Yes, indeed, I could go for a drink too!”
Elidivien felt a bit light headed, as he glimpsed at his friend’s hand that had been holding him mere seconds ago. He knew the Au Ra had big hands, but feeling them encircling his waist was a whole another knowledge. He could still feel a tingle where the hands had been.
As he followed Jisul out of the training grounds, he could not help but worry at the tension installing between the two of them, most certainly rooted in this almost kiss that took place. Elidivien could only hope that this mishap would not lead to Jisul distancing himself from him. He was not sure he could be fine with that.
Just as they left, Elidivien made eye contact with a blond Elezen.
Why is Stephanivien here?
The machinist’s presence was a mystery, but even more puzzling was the smug look on his face, as if the fellow Elezen knew exactly what was Elidivien feeling.
Surely he didn’t cause this.
Elidivien pondered uncertainly, while his eyes fell onto an impact where he had been standing a few moments before, an impact suspiciously looking like the ground had been hit with a bullet, unearthing a piece of rock that was now in the way.
Elidivien glared back, only for the machinist to blow him a kiss with a wink.

OC Kiss Week 2024: Lost
Doing this little challenge this week, with my FFXIV character and his husband (@kitshunette's son)!
I actually forgot that the paper of this watercolors sketchbook is not really forgiving when it comes to multiple layers, so that should help me not overthink the sketches
Also, I'm not much of a writer, but I decided to write a little something for each drawing, little windows in their story (which is also why I'm using the @ockissweek prompt list but not in order)
Jisul was walking fast, almost slightly running, as he did not want to be late to his meeting with the Viscount Jannequinard de Durendaire. Getting accepted in the Athenaeum Astrologicum had not been the easiest task, considering he was not from Ishgard in the first place, and Ishardians were still a bit wary of foreigners. But Jisul was highly motivated, and he really wanted to make sure they would not regret their choice. So getting to the school late was simply not an option.
In insight, what happened was totally predictable. Just as he was about to reach the entrance, there was a loud thump, a collision, and astrology cards went flying everywhere amidst the falling snow as both the Au Ra and an Elezen lost their balance.
“Are you alright?”
Hearing the voice, Jisul’s heart went strangely still and the world tilted.
***
The city was burning. Smoke rose everywhere, the sky was red, intermittently illuminated by flashes of light, and ashes were slowly falling like snowflakes. Jisul somehow remembered how the city looked before - large paved streets, city lights, the muted noises of long robes fluttering around. Now the only sounds left were the fires raging all around, and soft cries.
He felt an infinite amount of grief piercing his heart. Grief for what had been, what was happening and what was going to happen next.
Yet, in the midst of all the chaos, the only thing that felt right was the man standing in his arms. Jisul reached up to cup his lover’s face in his hands, and the grief he felt suddenly seemed tiny and laughable when faced with the clear eyes looking straight at him. The sense of loss brought by looking into those eyes was being deeply engraved into his very soul, as if willed into existence by creation magic itself, while the world crumbled around them.
“Let’s make a promise. No matter what, we will find each other again. In every live.”
His lover spoke in a low voice, unfaltering in his conviction, and yet the pain was lurking just below the surface, a pain mirroring Jisul’s.
“We will. I promise you. We will find each other again, no matter how long it takes. I will stand by your side again.”
“So will I.”
They both smiled, but the sadness contained within was overflowing. That vow was made on burning, empty grounds.
His smile is so beautiful, even now.
Jisul was unable to stop the thought from forming.
Without thinking, without a word, their lips found each other, as if to seal the promise. The kiss tasted like ashes. The feeling of losing a part of himself was overwhelming. The world was lit ablaze.
***
“Are you alright?”, the man repeated, a touch of worry in his voice.
As Jisul drew his gaze to the clear eyes looking straight at him, the world tilted back in place, and his heart started beating again, albeit a little faster than usual. The eyes belonged to an Elezen with tan skin and darker hair. The very image of the already disappearing memory he just experienced, except for the pointed ears. Then again, in that particular vision, Jisul had neither scales nor horns.
“Ah, uh, yes, I’m very sorry about this, I hope I didn’t hurt you…”
Jisul offered his hand to help the man stand, suddenly feeling shy.
What was that memory?
As they got back on their feet, the Elezen smiled, saying there was no harm done, but maybe they ought to pick up the cards before they could get damaged by the snow? Flustered, Jisul agreed and started collecting the stray cards, pondering on the already fading vision, just like a dream leaving in the morning.
Jisul would have doubted his brain entirely, if it was not for that quiet sense of a promise fulfilled swelling in his heart, filling the hole of having lost something he did not even realize he had before, along with a part of his soul contentedly humming, deep down.
Found you.
