I don’t have enough brain cells to understand who/what fortnight is about… the neighbor and husband references?

okay, so like taylor said, fortnight is sort of a prologue to the entire album. it references a lot of other songs (down bad, florida!!!, peter, guilty as sin?) there are a few different ways that it could be read, and i may not stick to this interpretation, but the below is where i landed.

fortnight sets the scene for the entire album and the events that are about to unfold by telling a story about an alternate reality about the future she was headed to in which she and joe ignore their problems, stay together, and build the life they're planning. she's in need of psychiatric help, she's drinking, she's depressed. but the other guy has re-entered her orbit. they're going to keep crossing paths. she feels insane. he's right there. she is insane. her husband cheats on her; she's enraged at him. the other guy is married to someone great; she's enraged at her too. she feels insane. she is insane, because she's fully consumed with the anger of following the bad path instead of taking the risk.

so at the end of the song, she decides she has to run for it. she has to move to america. she has to go to florida and start over. she has to buy the car and let him touch her instead of just daydreaming about it. because if she doesn't scratch the itch, if she doesn't see what happens, if she doesn't chase the guy that's been her "what else?" then well, how will she ever know? and the rest of the record is her realizing that maybe she wishes she hadn't.

Thoughts on Intelligence and Chicago PD because I've fallen back down the rabbit hole

So if Hailey leaves that leaves Intelligence with 2 officers about to be married (WHY does this show insist on having married couples be partners, please switch it up), another experienced officer and basically a rookie in Torres?

Like anyone know if there's plans to bring in more people?

I'm caught between keep the cast small and get more Intelligence family time/backstories that I've been hoping for for years at this point or bring new people in.

I think they should push Trudy in more, Voight needs someone he knows a lifetime like what he had with Al.

Bring back Mouse and have someone not quite full cop and with different perspectives but with history with the group

Make Kevin, Adam and Kim detectives dammit!! And I don't want it mentioned in passing I want full on study sessions and full uniform graduation thing

The way they handled Jay divorcing Hailey is abysmal (even if I didn't quite agree with their marriage in the first place. Please don't come at me Upstead fans, they married to get out of testifying against each other??) But Jay is loyal to a fault and wouldn't leave to become a better person and then break Hailey on purpose??

I love found families! Can Trudy and Mouch take in a teenage girl? Would love to see hard ass/sweet Trudy

Bring back patrol maybe?

What about Kim's niece Zoe? What age is she? Old enough to want to become a cop perhaps? Like they did with Kylie in Chicago Fire, have someone grow on the show and show the progression

Finally catching up on season 11 of Chicago PD. Poor Kevin must be really hoping this Burzek engagement sticks 😅

Him telling Torres and Torres' reaction was like he's had to listen to the entire Burzek history while riding with Kevin.

I like to think Kevin goes into Molly's and orders a beer, Herrmann asks him whats up, he tells him Burzek is engaged again and Herrmann gives him the beer on the house 🤣

To think that this is how it started… With this little exchange. With Lucy turning around to see who her training officer was. With them unintentionally making eyes at each other. With a little smile on her face. With Tim smouldering and clenching his jaw. You can sense how curious and intrigued they were by each other in that instant. How they caught each other's eyes. This moment between them was so electric, as if they were the only ones in the room. And the best part is that, even if this wasn't originally planned, this look was deliberately chosen during the final editing of this scene. And paralleled in the next episode when Lucy got temporarily assigned to Wrigley. She turned around to see who he was as well… Only she appeared far less impressed. Which highlights this moment even more.

I've also always found interesting that Grey decided to pair them together - especially since it was later revealed that Commander West wanted Tim as Jackson's TO. Wade clearly saw something in their files that made him believe that they would work well together… And he was absolutely right. He really has been steering them towards each other since day one.
