Today is the 6th of June which is Megumi Ogata’s birthday!!
Some of her other roles include:
- Shinji Ikari (Evangelion)
- Itona Horibe (Assassination Classroom)
- Tier Harribel (Bleach)
- Makoto Naegi and Nagito Komaeda (Danganronpa series)
- Ayato Naoi (Angel Beats)
- Hanako and Tsukasa (Jibaku Shonen Hanako kun)
- Yukito Tsukishiro/Yue (Cardcaptor Sakura)
- Haruka Tenoh/Sailor Uranus (Sailor Moon)
- Momoka (Hamatora)
- Yugi Muto/Yami Yugi (Yugioh Season 0)
- Doctor (Akudama Drive)
I seriously can’t believe that kurama was her debut role! I mean she sounds like a pro AND it was during a time when female seiyuus voicing male characters wasn’t a thing/wasn’t common (so she got bashed for it). Being one of the very first female seiyuus to ever voice a male character, not only did she earn a reputation but she is also one of the most experienced and respected seiyuus.
Thank you for voicing kurama I will always be a fan of your work ♡
❤️ HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEGUMI OGATA!! 🎂❤️

“For a really long time, thank you very much. Looking back, I first played “Vampil!! (laugh)” in the beginning of “R”, then I played Petz of “Ayakashi the Four Sisters”, Mamo-chan in his childhood, and Haruka, as if I was a successful fish (laugh). A special experience that’ll never happen!! To participate in this work made by all the enthusiastic staff, I was really, really happy. Thank you very much. My only regret is “to part from Michiru… (laugh)” Sensei, and all the fans, thank you so much!”
“See you again, cute kittens!”
-Megumi Ogata
omg she is the best. I THOUGHT little Mamoru sounded familiar…

Yu Yu Hakusho 100% Maji Battle Panel Livestream Part 3: Voice Actor Q&A Session
Just to be clear, I have no idea if someone is going to write a news article detailing this later, but for now here the things I sort of picked up watching this.
I will admit this is where my Japanese comprehension failed me part of the way but I did understand parts of it. Most of the questions were related to the recording of this game and how it made them feel (like revisiting the characters, etc) and also seeing each other again, etc.
(Trying to take notes while trying to do comprehension is hard but…I tried.)
Some of their opening remarks were nice, like Sasaki-san was saying how nice it was to see everyone again, and Chiba-san was saying how nice it was to see smiles on all the fans’ faces in the crowd. Ogata-san said thank you to everyone who bought her CD recent and asked those who did to raise their hand and she waved and said she was happy to be here.
When talking about their characters, there was a like of reminiscing about stuff. This game is intensively voice acting heavy (considering they voice parts of the story, which is basically a condensed retelling of the entire series) this is probably the first time outside of the new OVA and Eizou Hakusho that they’ve recorded these characters.
Chiba-san mentions how it’s been 16 years since he did Kuwabara consistently and he was trying to get back into the kind of voice he did for him while feeling like it had been just yesterday they were saying “hi” to each other. Also, he mentions at some point how he had a pain in his neck for awhile and it kind of hindered some of his takes and they would have to say “do it again!” until he did it right. It doesn’t help that Chiba-san is also a director and would feel unsatisfied until he did it right. (I think Hiyama-san was ribbing Chiba-san about this because he talks about it a little bit – he and Ogata-san have done projects with him where he was the director, and Chiba-san has directed some of the YYH audio dramas, for the record.)
Ogata-san had similar sentiments, talking about how it was fun to return back into the series and also having to figure out how she said “Rose Whip!” because it had been SO long.
Meanwhile, Hiyama-san was stating how he sort of forgot how awesome of a character Hiei was and how it an interesting experience with all the new animation for the game being great and the producers were making a joke about how because so much time passed that it’d be like a “new Hiei” and Hiyama-san was saying, “a new Hiei? NO!” It was quite funny.
What’s interesting is that Sasaki-san mentions about the mazoku in the game and doing lines for that, so I wonder what that means.
There’s some commentary from them about the beginning of the series, sort of, like how the series was Ogata-san’s debut and how she “found out” she got the part from her manager. Also Hiyama-san goes into length about how he sort of worked with Chiba-san before but also had known some info about him, like how he likes ramen (the excited face he made at this is so extra, Hiyama-san is like…a ramen foodie to the max, for the record) and how he liked the work he did and then when they started working together, this idea he had of him was vastly different from the guy he would get to know.
Then they were asked for a line that their character would say that’s “hissatsu” which is a martial arts term for a “certain kill” aka according to wikipedia “to annihilate at one blow”.
Chiba-san, poor man, couldn’t think of any, and was rambling, saying stuff about how “cool” of a character Kuwabara is, along with his crush for Yukina, but couldn’t come up with any, except near the end where he “introduces” himself as Kazuma Kuwabara. Sasaki-san says Yusuke’s signature attack, not once but *twice*. Ogata-san san definitely was trying to think of one but ends up saying “Rose Whip!”
And then Hiyama-san, because he is extra personified, ends up yelling 4 times, and 2 of those times weren’t even Hiei related lines, which Ogata-san playfully ribs him for, which he ends up one line as Hiei and then Hiei’s signature attack.
There’s some other talk too, like when they got to play the game a bit, who they had as the best player in their teams. Sasaki-san thought Yusuke was the best, and I believe Ogata-san agreed. Meanwhile, Chiba-san says Hiei was pretty awesome and Hiyama-san was saying Kuwabara was. (I swear these two.)
Also, Ogata-san loves puzzle games apparently. XD
Then there were closing remarks and they all make mentions about series and how it makes them feel. But this is where Chiba-san finally does his ‘scream’. Ogata-san promotes the blu-ray box set and the new animation for it and how much fun it was to record for it. Hiyama-san makes a mention about a game show (either toting out the board made him feel like a game show host or like…the idea of having a YYH themed game show thing, which honestly would be funny either way) and then he decides to scream some more because yelling out loud 3 times in the span of 45 minutes wasn’t enough.
And then Sasaki-san makes a lengthy speech and promoting the “smartphone” game and all the new voice acting on the game and how it’s been a lot of fun and then ends the panel by yelling “Rei-gan!”. Then they all wave to everyone and the camera and then get off stage.
I do have to say though, Chiba-san and Hiyama-san even though they were on the other sides of the stage, were engaging in so many shenanigans. There’s a part where they mention texting each other and then laughing and sometimes acting like each other’s characters when they do. (WHAT IS THIS?) And then other stories the two of them would bring up and everyone would start laughing (it was nice to see a genuine smile on Ogata-san’s face).
Overall, I understand how tired they must be, but they started warming up toward the end and Chiba-san and Hiyama-san helped the other two really get into it and it was nice, and I think Sasaki-san suggested they do something like that in the future.
Also, check out their outfits?? Ogata-san is wearing some really glittery leggings, I don’t understand Hiyama-san’s ombre jeans but his boots are awesome, and Chiba-san sticks out wearing blue jeans and a red jacket while everyone is pretty much coordinated, color wise. (Also, check out the rose on Ogata-san’s shirt!)
And if this isn’t any longer, here are some extra pics:
Tumblr media
She smiles! She actually…had a customer service smile on at one point it was kinda scary. I’m glad she was able to enjoy herself at some point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chiba-san pointed out the hole in the floor and then Hiyama-san points it out too and how he’s so close he would fall in and demonstrates with his foot just how close lol.

I saw this old post from @maiji thanks to @thekazumakuwabara reblogging it. I’d never seen the picture drama before today and there were literal tears in my eyes while watching. Truthfully, alarm clocks with voice recordings are not unusual in Japan. I’ve seen plenty of actresses/singers give them away as prizes. Nevertheless, the idea is gold, and I sure did clip the audio into sound bits for my phone. I’m going to swoon-laugh myself awake every day. If you want to join me, here are the download links via Google Drive:

Top 15 Bleach Voices (in my opinion)
These are ranked by Japanese voices, btw.
15) Ulquiorra Cifer (voiced by Namikawa Daisuke)
Tumblr media
As much as I don’t like Ulquiorra, I have to admit, Namikawa Daisuke did a great job in performing this character. He gave Ulquiorra a smooth, clear voice that was both cold and cruel at the same time. Also, I must admit that it’s easy on the ears and fairly pleasing to listen to. The way he says ‘Murcielago’ and ‘Lanza del Relampago’ is also very appealing, honestly.
14) Tier Halibel (voiced by Ogata Megumi)
Tumblr media
Halibel is my favourite Espada and I love her voice a lot. Her voice is cool, confident, and commanding in a subdued manner that really suits her character. Ogata Megumi did such a good job in voicing her, and I love the way she says ‘Tiburon’ with a quiet and subtle power, instead of yelling it. She truly has the voice of a Shark Empress.
13) Szayelaporro Granz (voiced by Toriumi Kosuke)
Tumblr media
Yes, this guy terrifies me. But his voice is just so pleasant to listen to, really… though it doesn’t change the fact that he speaks so pleasantly while gruesomely torturing Renji and Ishida. Toriumi Kosuke managed to give him a cool and calm kind of voice, but laced it with just the right amount of creepy sadism to send chills down my spine, especially when he releases his Resurrección.
12) Urahara Kisuke (Voiced by Miki Shinichirou)
Tumblr media
The guy has an amazing range of voice, really. I like how he can flawlessly switch from ‘humble, silly shopkeeper’ to ‘badass former Gotei captain’ within moments. It’s almost hard to believe that Miki Shinichirou is the same guy who did Roy Mustang in FMA after hearing him as Urahara! But yeah, I love Urahara’s silly voice and his cool, badass voice as well.
11) Soi Fon/Sui-Feng (voiced by Kawakami Tomoko/Kuwashima Houko)
Tumblr media
Soi Fon has such a pretty voice, I must say. She can go from cold Ice Queen to Yoruichi’s Number One Fan quite flawlessly, and I love how she sounds so effortlessly harsh and cold, but shy and sweet in the same breath. The late Kawakami Tomoko gave Soi Fon a ruthless, hard-hearted voice that perfectly established her as the Second Division captain and Onmitsukido leader. Kuwashima Houko gave Soi Fon a slight softness in her voice, but was still cool and harsh in that pretty way. Both her voice actresses did a great job in portraying her.
10) Hisagi Shuuhei (voiced by Konishi Katsuyuki)
Tumblr media
Konishi Katsuyuki is one of my favourite male voice actors, and his voice for Hisagi is no exception. He makes him sound confident, cool, and calm all in one, but at the same time, he can be kinda dorky and cute as well. His voice is nice and smooth, and it makes me smile whenever I hear it because it just suits him so much! So yeah, Hisagi’s voice is definitely a great voice!
9) Shiba Kukaku (voiced by Hiramatsu Akiko)
Tumblr media
I like Kukaku’s voice. She sounds almost like Yoruichi: cool, confident, and so casually badass, and I really like how she speaks like a hot-headed man. It’s almost like how Yoruichi speaks like an old man! Hiramatsu Akiko gives her a nice, fiery spirit that contrasts Yoruichi’s coolness and chill attitude. Also, her yelling is actually pretty nice to listen to, oddly enough.
8) Ayasegawa Yumichika (voiced by Fukuyama Jun)
Tumblr media
Yumichika’s voice is really charming, I must admit. Hell, it was one of the first voices that helped me get into Bleach. Fukuyama Jun really sounds awesome as Yumichika, especially the way he speaks in such a cool, diva-like voice most of the time. Like, he knows he’s a diva and he’s proud of it. Also, I just love the way he says his zanpakuto’s name, both ‘Fuji Kujaku’ and ‘Ruri’iro Kujaku’, it rolls perfectly and sounds pleasing to the ears.
7) Sode no Shirayuki (voiced by Sonozaki Mie)
Tumblr media
I love Sode no Shirayuki’s voice. It’s as clear as crystal and as beautiful as a swan. She sounds refined and elegant when she speaks, and it’s laced with a gentle sweetness and slight power at the same time. Sonozaki Mie does a great job with her voice, and I love the way she says ‘Some no Mai: Tsukishiro’ and ‘Tsugi no Mai: Hakuren’ as well, to be honest. It sounds cool, ethereal, and beautiful to listen to. Yeah, out of all the embodied zanpakuto voices, Sode no Shirayuki’s voice is my most favourite.
6) Inoue Orihime (voiced by Matsuoka Yuki)
Tumblr media
Orihime is my baby and my queen and I truly love her voice, to be honest. Her voice is so sweet and cute, which truly suits such a precious cinnamon roll like Orihime! Matsuoka Yuki sounds adorable as Orihime, and she skilfully portrays Orihime’s kindness, compassion, determination, and slight silliness in her voice. And her voice is a nice complement to Rukia’s voice; sounding like a sweet younger sister while Rukia is the cool older sister. Overall, Orihime has the sweetest, cutest voice, and she’s not just a princess, she’s a damn queen.
5) Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez (voiced by Suwabe Junichi)
Tumblr media
Okay, now we’re beginning to cross into the ‘sexiest voices’ territory. And yes, Grimmjow indeed has a very sexy voice. He sounds cocky and confident, with a little hint of bloodlust and ferocity that remains true to his character. At the same time, Grimmjow speaks with that attitude that totally says ‘I’m hot and I know it’, which is honestly very, very sexy. Suwabe Junichi really does a good job as Grimmjow, with his heart-melting voice. I especially love the way he says ‘Pantera’ and ‘Desgarron’, sounds really awesome and hot.
4) Shihouin Yoruichi (voiced by Yukino Satsuki)
Tumblr media
Yoruichi has that cool-older-sister kind of voice that is so comforting to listen to when you’ve had an awful day. Her voice is fun and confident, being able to go from teasing and playful to serious and battle-ready within seconds. Really, just listening to Yoruichi talk is almost like getting a pep talk from your best friend/older sister/mentor and makes you more confident to get stuff done. I gotta hand it to Yukino Satsuki, she really does a good job as Yoruichi. It’s almost hard to believe that she also voices Kagome in Inuyasha as well!
3) Kurosaki Ichigo (voiced by Morita Masakazu)
Tumblr media
When you think about it, Ichigo kinda has a pretty hot voice. I love the way it progresses through the series, starting off as a confused teenager who’s just become a Shinigami, gradually becoming more confident and sure of himself as he battles his enemies, cool and calm when fighting against Aizen, and then finally becoming more mature and protective. I love how he goes from fierce in some moments, such as his fights, to gentle and kind in other moments. Morita Masakazu has the perfect voice for Ichigo, and I really can’t imagine anyone else voicing him now.
2) Abarai Renji (voiced by Itou Kentarou)
Tumblr media
I love Renji’s voice. He has it all. He sounds sexy, confident, badass, and determined, and at the same time, he can sound vulnerable, hurt, sad, and even fearful. Then again, Renji is one of my most favourite characters so naturally I love his voice a lot. Hearing him speak makes my heart melt, especially when he sounds angry and badass at the same time, like when he’s about to kick his enemy’s ass. Itou Kentarou is also one of my favourite Japanese voice actors, and he really has a unique voice that works perfectly for Renji and makes him sound hot and sexy. And just imagine Renji’s rough voice whispering in your ear… yeah, he has one sexy voice and I love it so much.
1) Kuchiki Byakuya (voiced by Okiayu Ryoutarou)
Tumblr media
But of course, Byakuya has the most sexiest voice in all of Bleach. I can never grow tired of hearing him speak, since he sounds perfect. His voice is deep, despite his pretty bishounen features, and he can go from harsh and aloof to angry and pissed off. And a pissed-off Byakuya sounds quite hot, to be honest. I love how he can also convey so much emotion in one tone of voice, and he provides the perfect contrast to Renji’s hot-tempered voice. Okiayu Ryoutarou sounds amazing, and he really does a good job in capturing all facets of such a beautiful character. And let’s be honest, Byakuya sounds absolutely sexy most of the time. So yeah, Byakuya has the hottest, sexiest voice in all of Bleach.
