Christopher Matthew Kerze mysteriously vanished on April 20th, 1990. That day, Christopher stayed home from school claiming to have a bad headache. When his parents left the house, that was the last time they would see their son.

Once family returned home, they noticed that the family vehicle, a blue 1988 Dodge Caravan was missing as well as a  20-gauge shotgun, however, no ammunition was taken. There was also a note Christopher left, stating that he’d be home by 6pm unless he gets lost, with the word “lost” being underlined twice. He had also withdrawn $200 from his bank account and hasn’t been heard from since.

The day after he disappeared, the family received a letter from Duluth, Minnesota, which claims that Christopher lied about being sick to drive  “to not even I know where” and said he intended to commit suicide. The family van was found on April 22nd roughly 20 miles north of Grand Rapids, Minnesota. 

At the time of his disappearance, he was 17 years old,  5'11 and 135 pounds (about 61kg). He was wearing a light blue denim trench coat, a size large black cotton sweatshirt,  size 29M blue or black Bugle Boy jeans with pockets at the knees, white crew sweat socks, and a watch with a white and black zebra print band. He also had severe facial acne, wore eyeglasses with blue wire rims or hard contacts, and may have been suicidal when he disappeared. If still alive, Christopher would be 45 years old. The last 2 photos are age progressions to show what Chris may look like today.

These images were taken by police chief Jeff Greenhaw. The entity has been called the Falkville Metal Man and was encountered in Falkville, Alabama on October 17th, 1973. Greenhaw received a call from an anonymous woman around 10pm; she reported seeing a UFO fall and crash on the property of a man named Bobby Summerford. Upon leaving to investigate, Greenhaw remembered to grab his Polaroid camera, which is how we have these images. Once he got to the location, everything seemed to be normal. But after a few hundred yards of walking along a trail, he saw this humanoid figure that appeared to be made of metal. Startled by the camera’s flash, the Metal Man charged Greenhaw. He later noted that the entity moved as though it had springs on its feet, unlike anything human. Greenhaw got into his truck and managed to speed away and lose the creature. In the months following the sighting, bad luck befell the police chief: he lost his job, his marriage crumbled, and his house was burned down.

Greenhaw was adamant that the entity he witnessed and took photographs of was an organic being that was not of this world.

Although they were no older than 10, Mae, Heather and Stephen West (l-r) each became accustomed to sleeping in the basement during their childhood years at 25 Cromwell Street. Being the children of Fred and Rose West, they had also become used to feeling isolated from their parents and being left alone to occupy themselves. As they were not allowed to bring friends home from school, Mae in particular would play with the local cats as a form of companionship.

After they had been sent to bed in the basement, Mae often found it difficult to sleep. One night in particular, she climbed up onto the broken bed frame in order to peer out of the pavement-level slit which was their only window to the outside world. She was trying to attract the attention of the cats roaming around outside. However, the room was in darkness as Rose would unscrew the lightbulb every night so that the children could not stay up and play. Due to the lack of lighting, Mae slipped and fell from the bed, causing the sharpened wooden edge of the bed post to impale her chin. Scared and in pain, all 3 children tried their best to bang on the cellar door in order to attract the attention of their parents, as Mae was bleeding badly and needed medical attention. However, their pleas for help went unanswered. Fred and Rose only acknowledged the problem after a neighbour knocked on their front door and complained about hearing the banging and screaming.

As the three children grew older, they were allowed bedrooms in the main part of the house and no longer had to face the damp and dark conditions of the basement, which later turned out to be a graveyard. The children had been sleeping only a few feet above corpses, and had no idea that their own parents had already sexually assaulted and murdered a number of young girls. Mae’s older sister, Heather, was later to also become one of these victims.

In total, Fred and Rose West murdered at least 12 people, two of these being their own daughters: Charmaine and Heather. Mae West has recently written a memoir about her experiences living at 25 Cromwell Street under the parental control of Fred and Rose West, entitled “Love as Always, Mum xxx”.

When 23-year-old Polish student Katarzyna Zowada didn’t show up for her doctor’s appointment on November 12th, 1998, she was reported as missing. She hadn’t been seen or heard for months until Katarzyna, or, rather, what was left of her, was discovered under the most spine-chilling circumstances. On January 6th, 1999, something got caught in a tugboat’s propeller. When the operator went to go investigate what it was and begin the process of untangling it, he found something that he described as pale and foul-smelling. Initially, he couldn’t put his finger on it, but then he noticed an ear. He didn’t find her body. He found her skin. Examiners first believed that the skin got separated from the body as it became entangled in the propeller, but upon further examination, they realized that the skin was intentionally removed as if the culprit was preparing to form a skin suit one could wear. Investigators determined that the skin had probably been floating in the river for a few weeks at that point. They later found her leg and pieces of her clothing, but the rest of her remains, being her head and limbs, were never recovered.

In October 2017, police arrested Robert J. Trough who they suspected as being the mystery killer since the beginning of the case. Robert was described as ‘’eccentric’’ and a ‘’weirdo’’ who took pleasure in torturing and skinning animals. He was also in the the army at some point, where he worked in the morgue. He also has a history of stalking and harassing women. At the time of Katarzyna’s death, Robert lived near the riverbank where her skin was found. Rumors spread around that Robert reportedly became devoutly religious after Katarzyna’s murder and even began visiting her grave. He allegedly described the young woman’s murder in a journal he kept.

In January 2018, a 17-year-old girl escaped from her family by leaping out of a bedroom window of her small stucco home located in the working-class city of Perris, CA, and called 911 using a cellphone she grabbed from her home. In a calm manner, she identified herself as Jordan Turpin and described the years of abuse that she and her dozen siblings endured. She explained that they were never allowed to go outside, and that they lived in absolute filth due to the fact that they were only allowed up to one shower a year. They lived imprisoned and bound by shackles their whole lives, sleeping in their own waste. 

The teenager led police to her family home, which appeared like any other typical Californian home on the exterior. On the inside, however, they walked into the extremely disturbing living conditions of the remaining twelve siblings, ranging from ages 2-29, all bound to their beds by chains and padlocks. About half of them were adults in their late teens or twenties, though they were all mistaken as minors due to their childlike appearances. The siblings were very clearly malnourished, the eldest sibling weighing a measly 82 pounds, and many had cognitive deficiencies due to the lifelong abuse they suffered. Their parents, identified as David, 56, and Louise Turpin, 49, were immediately arrested and slapped with many charges ranging from torture and abuse of children and adults to lewd acts on children below the age of 14. After the news broke out, more gut-wrenching details began unraveling about the horrors that transpired within the Turpin home, which would no later be dubbed ‘’The House of Horrors’’. 

The children were forced to sleep during the day and stay up all night. Their parents kept them isolated from the outside world and never let them play with toys. They were generally only given one meal a day, which consisted of bologna or peanut butter sandwiches. The children were physically punished if they dared to steal food or access the internet. One of the siblings was strangled by their mother for sneaking onto the internet to watch a YouTube video of Justin Bieber. Six of the minor children who placed in foster care. The remaining adult children are now in assisted living. 

David and Louise were sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. Some of the children issued their own statements at the sentencing hearing. revealing they were still haunted by the abuse but had forgiven their parents. One of them, now in college, had stated, ‘’My parents took my whole life from me, but now I’m taking my life back.’’ She added that the abuse made her strong and described herself as a fighter.

It was the 22nd of February, 1985, when Janice and Leroy McInney heard the school bus coming up the road as they did every week day. The couple lived in Winfield Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, with their 8-year-old daughter, Cherrie Mahan. That afternoon – like usual – Cherrie was seen climbing off the bus and heading down the hill towards her driveway. She was wearing Cabbage Patch earmuffs, blue leg warmers and a denim skirt.

The short walk should have only taken a few minutes but Cherrie never arrived home.

Other children on the bus and a neighbour told police that they had seen a blue or white van with a skier and mountain scene painted on the side following the bus from Winfield Elementary School to Cherrie’s bus stop. Another person saw Cherrie walk past the van which was seen parked at the side of the road. A search party was assembled and they worked tirelessly through the afternoon, evening, and well into the night. Unfortunately a thick fog fell across Winfield Township and the searchers could barely see further than a few feet in front of them. Over the forthcoming week, firefighters and helicopters assisted in the daunting search while missing person posters were printed and distributed statewide. Eventually the FBI was called in to assist in the search yet no clues turned up.

The case gradually went cold and in November of 1998, Cherrie was declared legally dead. Her family sought this action so that a trust fund in Cherrie’s name could be transferred to her brother. Then in 2015, cadaver dogs descended on a Winfield property based on something somebody claimed to have seen around the time of Cherrie’s disappearance. A forensic team excavated a mount there but uncovered nothing. Since the disappearance, a number of composite sketches showing what Cherrie could look like as she aged were released to the public in the hopes that somebody may recognise her.

To this day, nobody knows what happened to Cherrie Mahan.

During the Brazilian Military Regime, mysterious unsolved child murders happened in the country. On November 15, 1970, after four days missing, 9-year-old Mara Lucia’s naked body was found dead in the bathroom of a house for sale in Bauru, São Paulo.

Mara Lucia was last seen by her neighbour Décio Luiz Venturini, who was only 11 years old at that time. He allegedly saw her walking down the streets alongside a man who seemed to be 30 or 35 years old; after a little talk with her, she gave him a sign that the man was crazy. Not too long after, she would be raped and killed. The murderer has never been caught and the statute of limitations on the crime has expired, what means that even if he is caught today and confess to killing Mara Lucia, he could not be arrested.

Went to serial killer Wayne Adam Ford’s old house (er, kind of). Took a bit of snooping to find out where he used to live in town. I’m as of yet still unsure what the criteria is for a case to grab me, but Wayne Ford’s has always been one of the most gripping. Maybe I will write more on him later.

The village of Nagoro in southern Japan was once the home to hundreds of families. Over time, however, the majority of the residents left to find work in bigger cities. One resident was Ayano Tsukimi, who left for a number of years before returning a decade ago to look after her elderly father. Today, there’s only 30 residents. Its dwindling community is a microcosm of Japan; the country’s population has been falling for decades.

When Tsukimi returned, she decided to plant her own crops. Upon seeing birds pecking at the seeds, she created a scarecrow that looked like her father. Over the next time years, she made over 350 such scarecrows which today litter the once bustling streets. They sit on benches waiting for the non-existent bus, in empty school classrooms, sleep in trees and pretend to be fishing. Tsukimi creates the scarecrows in memory of former citizens: “When I make dolls of dead people, I think about them when they were alive and healthy.”

The body of a woman was found stuffed in a suitcase alongside a suburban road in Greenwich, Connecticut. Her hands and feet were bound and it is estimated that she was 18-30 years old. This discovery is particularly jarring for the residents because homicide cases in Greenwich, one of the wealthiest places in the country, are rare. Law enforcement is treating it as a homicide and this post will be updated as new information is available.

These now quite famous photos are known as the Myakka Skunk Ape Photographs. The photos were taken by an anonymous woman who thought she was taking pictures of an escaped orangutan. They were mailed to the  Sheriff’s Department of Sarasota County, Florida, in 2000. In the note that went with the photos, the woman claimed that the creature appeared for three nights and took apples off of her porch. She reported that “it had an awful smell and was making deep “woomp” noises.” The woman was very worried that someone could be harmed by the animal because of how big it was. Mysterious Death of Zigmund Adamski 

One June 6th of 1980, Zigmund left his house to do some grocery shopping. When he didn’t return for a family wedding the next day, his family started to get worried. 

His body was found five days later (June 11th) in Todmorden next to a railway line. Trevor Parker, son of the coal yard owner, made the gruesome discovery PC Alan Godfrey was sent to investigate. His body was found face down on top 12 foot high pile of anthracite. He was found without a shirt, the rest of his clothes seemed like they were put on him by someone who had very little idea of how to put them on (both his shoes and pants were put on incorrectly). Even though he had been missing for 5 days, he only had a single day of beard growth. His neck and shoulders also had burn marks on them and forensics found that some kind of strange ointment was applied to them though they could not identify it.

Dr Alan Edwards, the consulting pathologist at the Royal Halifax Infirmary, conducted the post-mortem examination in Hebden Bridge just after 9pm that day he was found. Dr Edwards’ professional judgment placed the time of death between 11am and 1pm on the day that Adamski was found, while the burns were two days old. The exact cause of death was a matter of such deliberation, that Adamski’s death took Coroner James Turnbull several months to register. It was ruled as a heart-attack.

PC Alan Godfrey didn’t believe that Zigmund died of a heart attack, he believed that Zigmund was abducted by aliens. Godfrey claimed that he himself had witnessed a UFO in Todmorden. He went to investigate what he thought was an overturned bus, but was shocked when he saw it hovering 5 feet above the ground. He claims that the next thing he remembers is being back in his patrol car driving off. He claims that he had similar burn marks and a strange green gel on his neck too. He was put under hypnosis and asked about his encounter. The 2nd picture is his sketch of the UFO and the aliens he had an encounter with. Godfrey stuck to his claims that Zigmund was abducted by aliens and dropped back after they used him for research.

Zigmund’s family believes it was a case of human abduction instead of alien abduction. They believe he was being held captive and died of a heart attack.

This is a clip from a video posted to YouTube on October 8th, 2013. The poster said: “Whatever came out of that water scared the life out of my fiancé and I. We were fishing on our boat in the shallow bay area of Sanibel Island, FL on October 6th, 2013 when we saw what looked like a bus speeding through the water. At first we thought we were watching Manatee swimming which we see all the time but this animal was moving very fast and looked to be attacking something. All of a sudden, part of its body sprung out of the water and appeared to have something wrapped up. Then it was gone. We honestly don’t know what it was but it’s head resembled a snake and the body looked like a giant 30 plus foot snake. If a cement utility poll was laying down horizontally, that would be the width and length of this sea creature.”

It is assumed to be many things including a giant oarfish, a python, a whale or a sea monster.
