Not to be completely random but I just realized that You could replace the Judy and Nick from Zootopia with Midoriya and Shinsou and it would be the same movie.

I mean, Midoriya and Judy are told they can’t be what they want to be because they are quirkless/prey but they go and achieve it anyways. And Shinsou and Nick are judged to be villains because of something they can’t control.

The “Uselessness” of Midoriya Izuku

Today, Hori shares an interesting fact through his author’s note:

The poem is called Ame ni mo Makezu in Japan, written by Japanese poet Kenji Miyazawa, and it is a very famous poem. The verse Horikoshi is referring to is [ミンナニデクノボートヨバレ] (originally written in katakana) or “minna ni deku-no-bō to yobare”. Translated straight, means “Called useless by all.”

I’ve always wondered why Izuku never really gets credit or widespread acknowledgement whenever he wins villain fights, of how he doesn’t seem to be known more than being ‘the boy who broke his bones during the U.A. Sports Festival.’ The shared victory against Stain was credited to Endeavor, his personal fight against Overhaul was never televised, and his defeat of Gentle Criminal was never relayed to his classmates.

Even now, he’s known as ‘the cryptid who saves people.’ In the span of the entire manga, Deku never really sought popularity nor money. The closest he did this was when he was told by All Might to announce his presence to the world via the Sports Festival, but even then, he prioritized saving his classmate over winning and wasn’t recognized for his previous victories. He didn’t even receive a single internship offer aside from Gran Torino. Plus, Deku doesn’t exude a natural charm when it comes to scripted interviews.

The poem:

The poem illustrates a person who lives simply, who helps those who are in need of help, and doesn’t get praise for it (nor desires to be praised.) So aside from it’s other meaning ‘dekiru’ or ‘I can do it!’, Deku as a hero name means that he doesn’t seek credit for doing what should come naturally.

But since Izuku choosing it for a hero name is yet another statement: he still hopes to become someone that everyone aspires to. That is, by asking people to call him Deku, he becomes a ‘No One who can save everyone.’

And that is the theme of BnHA. Izuku is supposed to symbolize the turning point, the revolution against the broken Hero Society, the society which is built upon the self-interests of “Heroes” barring a few. Izuku choosing Deku as a name means to impart that anyone who ‘helps/reaches out a hand to those who needed saving without expecting anything in return’ is already a hero.

Tokoyami x Reader

Note: oh my god yes, I love writing for Tokoyami. I hope you enjoy! I know people headcanon different pronouns for Tokoyami so I hope you don’t mind if I used he/him here (if you do, let me know and I’ll change it!) :)

God, you are the light of Tokoyami’s life.

He never thought you’d return his affections and ever since you had, his life has been a dream come true.

Literally, Tokoyami is over the moon for you.

And his feelings for you have an incredibly deep impact on Dark Shadow.

Dark Shadow’s prime directive is to keep Tokoyami safe, and you make Tokoyami feel safe and loved in a way he never has before.

This translates to Dark Shadow listening to and respecting you more than anyone else. Sometimes even more than Tokoyami.

This sometimes is a special occasion that occurs only when Tokoyami loses control of Dark Shadow.

Tokoyami is an anxious person - so when he loses control it’s easy for him to spiral, losing even more control. Dark Shadow is incredibly in tune with Tokoyami so his being anxious freaks Dark Shadow out and it just, spirals.

But you are an ever present constant. You’re grounding.

So when you talk, Dark Shadow does their best to listen.

Now, this is all discovered during a questionably allowed midnight training session.

Questionably because the entire class is out well last curfew training but the teachers aren’t doing anything because they know you’d all otherwise just go off campus which can be barely described as not illegal.

Midoriya is helping people expand their powers by going over the notes he’s taken for all of them and Tokoyami is hesitant to play with the extremes of his quirk.

However Todoroki and Bakugo are there so he reluctantly agrees.

It goes swimmingly at first, but then something happens and Dark Shadow freaks.

And then Tokoyami freaks.

So Dark Shadow freaks more.

Cool news? Bakugo and Todoroki are less able to control Dark Shadow thanks to Midoriya’s new comments.

Bad news? Read above line.

Dark Shadow takes a swipe at a group of classmates and on instinct you say sharply

“Dark Shadow! You do not try to hurt your friends!”

This is met with Dark Shadow pausing mid swipe at Bakugo and Kirishima.

“How do you think that makes Tokoyami feel?”

Cue Dark Shadow letting out an actual whimper.

This with Todoroki and Bakugo jumping back in let’s Tokoyami regain control.

Everyone is just kind of staring at you in surprise.

Midoriya is writing furiously in his book.

Tokoyami is still rattled so you call it a night and walk back to the dorm with him, leaving everyone else to continue working.

Once it’s the both of you, Tokoyami takes your hand.

Which is unusual since he doesn’t normally initiate contact.

“Thank you.”

After that night, Tokoyami is a lot more willing to initiate romantic gestures. You aren’t sure what you had done to deserve such a change but you definitely aren’t going to complain.

Could I request hcs for aizawa being turned into a cat for a few days by a villian and then being found and taken in by one of his students but when he's brought to her home he sees that she lives in a awful foster home with parents and foster siblings that treat her crappy and maybe at one point when one of her parents tries to hurt her and he sees it he straight up jumps and attacks them. Thx and sorry if this is dark I just like reading dadzawa helping his students

Note: I’m keeping this a bit lighter, but I’m all for dadzawa so I hope you enjoy!

First and foremost, Aizawa is annoyed.

For all the times he’s lamented over not being a cat, now is the absolute worst time for him to be a cat - what with the disaster that is his class (Read Midoriya) right now.

Now, he has absolutely no idea how long he is going to be a cat as he’d never seen the villain who did this to him before.

So his first plan of action is to figure that out.

Because yes, even as a cat, Aizawa is still determined to take down a villain.

Fortunately this happens on a Friday night so he has an entire weekend before his next class.

Though he’s already planning for having to teach a class as a cat (because yes, he’s still determined to teach class).

As he’s walking down a street, planning out his next moves, he notices one of his students.

Now it’s really late to be out, especially for a child. And you’re walking in a rushed manner, with your head down and arms crossed over your chest. Honestly your practically running.

Dad senses alerted.

Aizawa follows you.

You end up by a park bench overlooking a tiny beach in your neighborhood.

Note the “by” a park bench.

You end up sitting on the street instead.

Aizawa watches you from afar for a bit and realises that you’re crying.

So he walks straight up to you.

It takes you a moment to notice the black cat sitting in front of you, giving you a very stern look.

“Hi, kitty.”

You sound so god damn defeated.

Aizawa is determined to make whoever did this to you pay.

After a while, you end up telling this tired looking black cat all your troubles - everything that you’ve never told anyone before, ever.

The tired cat walks you all the way back to your house and spends the rest of the night standing guard outside your house - listening to the happenings inside.

Needless to say, Aizawa had a new priority.

Congratulations on gaining a new dad.
