My year 11 kids have to write a formal term paper and get to pick any topic they're interested in. Today I asked one girl what she wanted to write about. She said depression but I heard porridge and didn't even question it, all I thought was 'man what a weird topic for a term paper.'

Year 11

One of my students has broken his foot so when they were working in class I went to him and asked what had happened. He replied that he'd seen a few girls being harassed in town so he'd tried to help them but broke his foot during the fight. I asked him a couple of questions about the men and he replied without a pause. After a few minutes I looked at him and said' 'Wow that was brave, I'm proud of you! And what really happened?' And his friend began to laugh and told me that he'd tripped over a tennis ball im PE.

I walked around in class to see how my students were doing and this one kid looked up when I stood next to her, covered her work with her hands and said, 'Oy, don't copy!'

My students wrote a vocab test today. In the middle of the test, one kid looked up and asked me if I know all the words asked in the test. I said yes. He was impressed. I felt very smart.
