okay. so listen. in december 2020 i wasn’t in a good place. i’d just gone through very stressful exams, my longtime crush had just rejected me, and someone i trusted had just stabbed me in the back. mentally, i wasn’t doing well. you could say i was in a hole, and actively digging myself deeper. i put on a mask, and tried to be happy.

julie and the phantoms turned my life around. i don’t want to know what would’ve happened if i’d continued down that spiral. but i remember watching the first episode of jatp and feeling my heart just fill with happiness for the first time in a long time.

julie, luke, alex & reggie gave me so much more. in 2021, i came out as bi and ace, and my confidence & courage shot up 10x. julie and the phantoms has done so much for me, guys, and i know it’s done so much for you as well.

and while i can semi-understand the reasoning behind its cancellation (as @pearlcaddy​ said in her post), i’m not going down without a fucking fight.

i’ve heard by word of mouth that several streaming services are looking into picking up jatp, and this post by @garc-i-a​ gives some reasoning, so:

here’s a petition that has almost 150,000 signatures as of 06/01/22. here’s a hulu petition that’s one of the highest on hulu’s page and has above 1000 votes. linked in the comments are the emails of hulu, disney and hbo max’s support teams, as well as the possible emails for most of the top executives at hulu.

i don’t know what else to do but sign these petitions and email these corporations. if anyone has anything more that they can do, please drop a reply in the comments or in your reblog.

and please, please reblog. i don’t care if your blog has 10 followers or 10,000- every reblog counts. every person matters.

How You Can Help Renew Julie and the Phantoms

Here are a few simple things you can do to help get Julie and the Phantoms renewed. I put the estimated time it should take you to complete each task based on how long it took me. Of course, the time varies for everyone, so it may take you more or less time to complete each task. Links for petitions and whatnot are hyperlinked.

Sign this petition. It’s the most popular and therefore the one we’re putting our energy into. (~2 mins)

Request that Netflix renew the show. You can fill out this form as many times as you want. (~1 min)

Follow the steps on this post to request that Hulu pick up Julie and the Phantoms. And go ahead and follow @tforjatp while you’re at it. They’re doing a lot of work to try to save the show.(~4 mins)

Call Hulu ([phone]). Let them know that you want them to pick up Julie and the Phantoms. (~8 mins)

Tag Hulu in your Julie and the Phantoms posts on Instagram and Twitter. Hulu tracks their social media to learn what people want. (~5 mins)

Comment and reply on Hulu’s Instagram and Twitter posts telling them to pick up Julie and the Phantoms. (~1 min per post)

Call Disney+ ([phone]) and follow the instructions on this post. (~15 mins)

As the band would say “Tell your friends!”. Spread the news and let people, both online and off, know about Julie and the Phantoms. If they haven’t seen it, convince them to watch it! If they have seen it, let them know what they can do to help save it!

Usually I'm very much cynical about Netflix shows getting picked up by other streaming services/network, but I actually think we have a chance.

Here's why. When Anne with An E was cancelled and their fanbase started a campaign for the show to be picked up by another streaming service, from the very start the show creator as well as the actors already stated that they appreciate the effort but honestly it's not possible. This is important. With AWAE it seems that the producers themselves already knew contract wise that they cannot get possibly pick up the show with someone else and were vocal about it.

With JATP, Kenny Ortega, Dan Cross (showrunner and show creator), and their lead Madison Reyes have all been very vocal and encouraging of fantoms campaigning for the show to have a new home and have publicly stated that they're doing their best to find new life for the show. I think this means that either they have a different contract with Netflix, they're saying it's possible, and we can help the process.

So let's make noise. If you can, sign all petitions, send those requests, email, tweet. I wish we could have a B99 situation where we have major names calling for JATP to come back. Make so much noise that it's picked up by major media outlets. They're trying, let's do our best too.

So you know how we’re really good at aggressively voting for things? Well as you may have seen, Netflix has a suggestion box for films/tv shows they should include.

Apparently, spamming this form worked for the Sense8 fandom. There’s obviously no guarantee, but hey: it doesn’t take that long, and you can submit INDEFINITELY.
