Relics of the New Republic - On Break
Hello everyone!
Apologies for the blog inconsistency, that's just a me trait.
However! Dustfire Media love being consistent and keeping to their schedule as best as possible, so whilst the RotNR cast take a break, the DFM team will be pooling together in the usual RotNR time slot to rewatch/listen back to former episodes of The Professionals (A Scum and Villainy Actual Play) and then reacting to their own antics! Honestly looking forward to how this plays out, because I have no idea what's going to happen or who will be attending these streams :D
It's an exciting work around, and I hope you'll come join us in the quest to find out! Otherwise, feel free to take this time to catch up on the Relics of the New Republic podcast episodes, as it's an Avatar Legends Actual Play with some lovely people <3
P.S. 'DFM' is my affectionate shorthand for Dustfire Media, I don't actually know if it's an officially endorsed acronym for the group >:3

Happy Tuesday TTRPG fans! I'm going to try update this fanblog weekly with updates starting from today ✨
With Steve and Justin on vacation, and Gus being forced to return to his station, the usual Scum and Villainy stream (it's a once a fortnight show) was unfortunately cancelled, and it's backup and the backup's backup got cancelled as well! Hopefully we will see Nick GM a game of World of Dungeons another time.
The episode of Relics of the New Republic we had though was incredible! We discovered a little more about Fumi's family and personal values, we saw Lin's parents on screen, Amuk pulled off an incredible bluff improv and got out of a sticky situation, Jing Min is ready to face part of her past (not that she has much, she's 12!) And Steve successfully floored everyone singlehandedly with his voice acting skills as everyone capped off the show.
I hope Steve's penguin sledding goes well (his words!) And that I'll have more for you all next tuesday~

Waiting for the new Avatar Movie
With the release of another trailer for Netflix's adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, you all might be sitting in excitement and anticipation; but when the realisation dawns on you that there is still a month of waiting, you may be wondering what there is to do for spending the time between now and then.
Of course, the first thing that comes to mind would be to rewatch through Avatar: The Last Airbender (series) and The Legend of Korra, but that's not going to fill a full month (if you are a binge watcher like myself).
Instead, might I suggest to you something a little more canon-adjacent. It's not official, but I can officially say this filled in at least three weeks of my life with emotional ups and downs and gripping story. Three weeks of NON-STOP LISTENING might I add; when I binge something, I can't focus on much else that allows the fixation to break this up.
With approximately 100 episodes for it's two season, two year reign, the Flying Bison Podcast is an audio adventure in its own right. An Actual Play of the TTRPG created by Magpie Games, Avatar Legends, this plot sees us through the lives of five young adventurers early on in the 100 Year War era.
Leeko of the Foggy Swamp, Chaenao Lonshur, Rozuk Lonshur, Ren Song and Osa Tenguin (Plus Ruu, the Otter Dragon! Or Dragon Otter, your pick) must travel from the freshly decimated Southern Air Temple to Ba Sing Se to spread the news of the unfortunate deaths of the Air Nation. At least, that's how season 1 starts. Like I said before, it's an emotional rollercoaster ride of gripping adventures, and I can guarantee it'll fill the time between now and Feb 22 brilliantly for you.
Not sure where to find it? No worries! Their podcast is located on pretty much all sites that allow for podcasts; I use Google Podcasts myself, and the following link will be to there.
Want someone to chat with about the upcoming movie? Don't worry, there's a Discord Server for you too! Why, just yesterday we were discussing theories about bending genetics and family lineages, just for fun :) We hope to see you there with us, the more the merrier! <3

Incase you didn't watch the Twitch VOD for the Upcoming episodes of #TheProfessionals, here's the podcast link of Episode 13!
Ramdan ceremony and official culture is explored, Gears is always exhausted because of the pilot breaking the ship, and Havok has an interesting choice ahead of him ~
I must admit the Ramdan ceremony is beautiful and I hope Carlton can one day truly earn his own name by way of the tribe. Also Danny being clever using the Bathouse to both heal and indulge in vice was pretty clever~ I won't say any more than that!!

Trophy Campaign Update:
Today the Forge had another episode of Trophy, with Danny as GM. Joining us again as players were Steve, Johnny, Justin and Nick! Since this is a Patreon only show when released as podcast, I won't go into specifics but I would like to talk about the experience I have when I join in the Livestream.
First of all, anyone can join the stream chat. Though it's a Patreon only show later, it's free for everybody to drop by on Twitch to take a look! I'll add their usual link to the bottom of the post.
A Dustfire Media Livestream is an absolute riot of a time. Watching people make their jokes live helps add a feeling of realism and inclusivity, like what I'd imagine going to a live comedy show would be like. They're hilarious above table and in character these players know how to be diverse with who they represent, and yet still so very them.
What makes the Patreon episode streams that bit more special is most likely the Devil's Bargain mechanic. Usually, like with the streams for The Professionals (as far as I know, I'm dead to the world when those streams are live because it's 1-3am in my time zone), the GM can present a consequence that must be accepted by the player if a player wants an extra dice. A trade off of sorts to help progress the game with certain actions. If they don't accept, they don't get a bonus dice to the roll.
With the Trophy streams however, a Devil's Bargain is open to ANYONE to suggest - other players, or chat. So we the viewers get to add in our own potential consequences to the plot. This makes for some hilarious twists and turns, trust me.
Another thing in particular I enjoy specifically is talking with chat about the characters and story events themselves. If (SOMEHOW) you're not a Patreon, then there's likely someone in chat more than happy to give you a quick summary of what you've missed so you can join in like the rest of us. Or even if you just have internet connection issues! (Like me! Lagged pretty bad so a pal in chat helpfully posted the important points I'd missed in the 20 seconds of buffering I experienced).
I also find I learn new words, or even new ways to say certain words thanks to differences in upbringing/accent. Like the word Cuirass (Sorry Justin calling you out here for this particular one since it stuck out to me!) Justin was pronouncing it as "Coo-rass", whereas I've always thought it was pronounced "Cure-ass". I've not really heard the word spoken before however so now I'm curious! Is it just a Justin thing, or is that really how you're meant to say it?
I might have digressed a bit there, but the Dustfire never fails to deliver on great cliffhangers and full-depth stories leaving people eager to know what's happening next. Whether it's a one shot base being worked on and brought to life, or a completely new story created with a rulebook of any game, I'm yet to be dissatisfied with any of their content. Not kidding, it's all amazing!! Doesn't matter who is running the game either, all of them tell incredible stories.
Final note, and weirdly enough the reason I started typing this post; one major change between this session of Trophy and the last is that last session the game was Trophy Dark, whilst this one upgraded/morphed into Trophy Gold. The story is still the same (well, as much as we can tell for it!) And the Dustfire guys have assured us everything will make more sense in the end - alas it's only one episode a month!
Maybe if we get more Patreon participants they can stream it more... Come be a White Lotus Agent with me! More agents against the forces of evil is always a wonderful time ♡
I hope you enjoy your time with them as much as I do. Please find a link to both their Twitch page, and their website below (bonus - they've got merch too!)

The last of the One Shots - For now~
Dustfire Media has released another episode for us all to enjoy, Fire and Brimstone. Just from the name alone it sounds fiery and evil and I am excited! Please feel free to leave reviews on the podcasts even if you don't want to become a Patreon just yet, all the love and comments are appreciated just as much ♡
The summary of the episode also states that it's the first time the Relics of the New Republic crew came together for a game, with Nick as GM not Steve!

Fans of The Professionals!
Episode 12: Exit Rage Right is now up on podcasting services and things are getting heated! Johnny isn't present due to family events (Hope they were fun ^^) meaning Theodus is a free agent for the boys to mess with~
Come listen with us! Given the episode name, I hope Graves is gonna be ok! (Well, I hope Havok and Gears will be alright too of course, since only Johnny has another character already set to go for the next episode - Leto may return soon! ♡)

A new year, and a new double episode of the Professionals!
If you're like me and were snoozing away the last 8 or so hours, then it's highly likely you missed Dustfire Media's live stream of the Scum and Villainy Actual Play they are currently running on Twitch.
This is no cause for alarm! Not only does the VOD stay live for about a week or so, they will release the episodes as podcasts in due time as well.
So for those of you (like me) who are up to date with the shenanigans of Graves, Gears, Havok, Theodus (and Leto~), feel free to use the link attached for as long as it's valid to jump straight to episodes 12 and 13. I can't wait to find out what they'll be called!
Please also give the channel a follow whilst you're at it, as this is the only way for non-patrons to jump in and catch the elusive once a month episode of The Forge~

Dustfire Media Update - 31st of December
Another Relics of the New Republic (#RotNR) Update! The next session has been cancelled, and instead one of the pre-recorded episodes featuring guests from another podcast playing an Avatar Legends Wan Shi Tong one shot campaign will be uploaded in it's place.
Justin's update on the Discord server has specified that the two part episode will be released on the 31st of December and the 9th of January. It will be the Water and Mist story with members from the Book of War Podcast. (I would like to note here that personally I am in a time zone ahead of most of the Dustfire members, meaning that though it is the 31st for me, I am pretty sure it was the eve of the 30th for Justin when he posted this.)
He also mentioned that this is the last pre-recorded one shot! I wonder what Dustfire Media will have up their sleeve as a backup next ^^
Since it is the end of 2023, I'm sure we all totally understand and support those who wish to spend this time with their family. If you want to take a look at the Dustfire Media's free catalog, please follow the link!

With a new episode released, it's only fair that my next post be about #TheProfessionals.
A Scum and Villainy campaign set in "The wrong corner of the galaxy, where the wrong kinda crowd feels at home" (As Justin introduces it every episode~), our four crew members have to try get enough jobs, both legal and illegal, to keep their ship in one piece with some cred to spare. All with unique backstories these boys have come together to find out what they believe in and how they go about navigating each other. Havok, Leto, Graves and Gears cause chaos and fun times wherever they go.
However, Leto is currently out of the party! Don't know why? I'm not gonna tell you, that's for you to find out~ Instead, Johnny is playing a xeno called Theodus, a Mystic who uses The Way and has loose connections with Graves from the past.
Are they all going to survive another episode? Or is the rival of the party Mystic going to change their fates for the worse?
(I'll do another proper overview for basics on the series another time, this is my promo post for Ep11!)
P.S. Fun fact from the player of Carlton Graves, the Ramdan:

Quick Note: It's a good thing I live in a totally different country to these people because the unholy squeals of excitement I get over simple, sweet things is just - I can't control it 😭
Gus and Steve hanging out in person? So awesome!
Being awake at 1am and finding out through podcast that Justin and Danny are brother in law's? Mind BLOWN seriously I wanted to ask so bad but it was so late for me I didn't want to be wrong so I still haven't asked haha. I do apologise if this is wrong and I misheard or something but like if this is right that's just so coooool~
(spoilers for The Professionals ahead)
Asking about when the intro for the Professionals and wondering if Theodus would get an intro bit to replace Leto even temporarily then getting a reply from Steve saying Graves misses Leto~
Damn I love these guys. Everyone's just so funny and wholesome and sweet and it's awesome to be around them.
As I've told a couple people now, I live for these guys ~
(this was supposed to be quick why is it so long xD)

Most of you probably already know what this is but, a new blog means we gotta cover some basics. I like to overdo stuff sometimes~
What is a TTRPG?
Well, first of all, it is the shortened term for the genre known as Table-Top Role Playing Game. Some people call it a Table "Talk" Role Playing Game and that's fine too, both versions work ♡
But when you get past the basic definition, you'll find it's really a diverse space with something to suit everyone. The most commonly known TTRPG I would easily guess is Dungeons and Dragons, aka D&D.
But it is NOT the only one out there! There are so many more to choose from, so don't feel shackled to the one system.
There's also games such as Pathfinder which is a similar alternative, and years ago I heard about this fun world known as Shadowrun. In my local comic book/manga/tabletop games shop just the other day I found a new game called Symbaroum and it looks really good, visually and from a world building perspective- If you know the videogame Cyberpunk 2077, you'll find it's actually a TTRPG first as well!
Mostly I'm going to be focused on the games that Dustfire Media get into, which means most regularly I'll be posting about #AvatarLegends and #ScumandVillainy but thanks to #TheForge (Patreon's only!) They expand and explore other TTRPGS as well, so I don't want anyone to feel limited or restrained about what TTRPGs they can talk with me about.
Just the other day Justin mentioned a game called Fabula Ultima and I fell in love with it, so I bought the PDFs straight up.
But to cap off this post, whether you love abusing mechanics to get the strongest builds in the silliest of ways, or you want to practice method acting with your friends or anything between, a Table Top Role Playing Game is an awesome way to spend time with friends and family, as well as having some goofy fun.
Have a Varrick for making it to the end~

A quick overview on what Dusfire Media is:
Dustfire Media is a group of interesting individuals who have a great time together roleplaying and take a chance on the dice. Beginning in September 2021 with an Actual Play of Avatar Legends, Justin Nitta at the helm as the party GM, they were formerly known as the #FlyingBisonPodcast , or #FBP for short. This is currently the first and longest run campaign of Avatar Legends as an Actual Play podcast!
More recently they've expanded their catalogue and increased the frequency of released episodes, with campaigns in new TTRPGs along with Avatar Legends. #TheProfessionals is a Scum and Villainy Actual Play with Justin as the GM, whilst Relics of the News Republic (#RotNR) is a new Avatar Legends Actual Play set in the Korra Era, GM'd by another Dustfire Media regular Steve Durgin. Once a month, free to all who catch the Twitch Stream but otherwise for Patreon's only podcast wise, Dustfire Media's regulars take turns in #TheForge puppeteering a new TTRPG every few episodes, exploring new systems and causing many laughs along the way.
Both #RotNR and #TheProfessionals are FREE for everyone to listen to, with #The Professionals being streamed once a fortnight (approx) with an episode released weekly, and #RotNR streamed every week and its podcast format being updated at the end of the week.
If you want to find out more, please click the Patreon link below. Their lowest tier unlocks all their content, and is literally only $1USD ($2AUD for me) a month, for 100+ hours of content, minimum. If that doesn't make you think to yourself, "I'm Just Happy to Be Here", I don't think anything will~
