the nature of the magnus archives as an anthology that turns into an interconnected story means that it is fundamentally a tragedy made up of smaller-scale tragedies
the fate of the world is at stake. but we see it through the million different ways that individual people have faced their own personal tragedies. the world is made of individuals but all individuals are connected as part of the world and every story matters. even the ones that only happen to one person. even the “impersonal” ones that affect everything everywhere. whether they end or not, whether that end is happy or miserable or utterly neutral, every story matters

i love when tragedies are like “the love was there. it didnt change anything. it didnt save anyone. there were just too many forces against it. but it still matters that the love was there”
