People can't understand this is the saddest and, at the same time, the most romantic declaration of love in manga history.

Levi brings his fist to Hange's heart, not to his and so he declares to her that his heart has always belonged and will always belong to her and to no one else.

Levi and Hange did not have the courage to abandon everything, they are too attached to their duty as Captain and Commander.

It is also a pity that readers do not understand all the parallels present throughout the story between Levihan and Eremika.

When the guy said they fixed the plane, only Jean and Armin reacted to it, while Levi and Connie keep looking at Hange….

Connie was probably still need time to process what is going on, and Levi was just like *frozen* there

And I really love how Mappa added a little detail to 104, unlike manga🤡

They still shocked like manga, but then Levi was already standing by there to wait for Hange to have a little private conservation. 104 probably like okay heichou will handle this, just leave it to him. But then Levi was *frozen*, Mikasa Armin Connie were like wt?? then running towards Hange, but it’s already too late.

And am I the only one who got a little bit surprise by this scene?? I didn’t expect Levi was standing there and waiting for Hange the whole time while she talking to 104. I thought when Hange was talking to 104, he felt sth wrong so he tried to walk towards Hange, but he was too weak to walk fast, so they somehow met at that point.

Anime makes me feel like Levi somehow knew what Hange wanted to do through their Levihan telepathy when the rumbling has came, so when Hange with 104, he likes “I also need to do my final farewell” so he stood there and waited, even he didn’t want to let her go, but this was the last chance to have a conservation with her.

Manga was like: I want to talk to her to ask her don’t go > conservation failed > desperate eye

Anime was like: I know she need to go, but still I want to talk to her > conservation failed > “okay I I am ready” eye > oh no I am not ready *frozen* > desperate “see you Hange”

I know there are a lot of serious stories and theories about how Loid and Yor have their identities revealed (and holy hell do I love those), but here’s a possibility of how I think it would be funny to go down.

Master spy Agent Twilight and assassin Thorn Princess are fighting in an dark enclosed space and they can’t see each other’s face. Either a third party turns the lights on or they wind up outside but once they see the other’s face, they know.

But instead of fighting again or anything their first aloud thoughts are “Anya!!”

Because they hadn’t assigned a sitter that night at home. Because they didn’t know both of them would be gone. So they race home together to ensure their daughter is safe.

Then once everything’s settled, they sit awkwardly in the living room and go “soo…about that…”

I just really love for dumb comedy like this to happen. We’d still get an epic fight between the two, but instead of the whole freaking out over each other’s true identities, they go “oh shit we’re horrible parents!” And it’s one of the few times their communication aligns perfectly.

I may be writing a fanfic of this now that I’ve had this thought 👀

The Race of Life

I like how this memory perfectly sums up EMA’s whole dynamic.

-Eren is the one who comes up with the idea of the race. He leads the others and his idea of the race is one linked to competition. He wants to win and wants to move forward toward victory.

-Mikasa could easily win, but she stays behind Eren because what she wants is to be by his side.

-Armin is behind them, but he is still enjoying himself and the afternoon they are spending together:

“Maybe the reason I was born was so that the three of us could be racing there.”

The race is “life” and each of EMA’s behaviour mirrors their philosophies and their goals.

It is particularly interesting how Armin and Eren’s are inverses.

On one hand Eren only thinks of winning. The race did not have to be a competition, but Eren turned it into one.

On the other hand Armin loses, but he still loves that moment so much that he thinks a simple day spent losing a competition with his friends is worth being alive.

This is interesting when one thinks of this:

Eren realizes he is not free when he sees Armin’s eyes.  From this conversation, it would seem that freedom is having something that drives you. A dream gives people purpose and in this way they become active and free.

Later on Eren also says so:

Eren says Armin is better than him because he has more than hate, while Eren is only focused on revenge. So, it would seem that it is not just about having an objective. It is also about which kind of objective one has.

However, after this chapter, I think the answer is closer and is slightly different. Eren misunderstands what freedom is. He sees it as an objective, a goal, something that drives him. He sees it as something to reach and that will make him full and complete. Still, he is mistaken. Freedom is not that, but it is simply a way of living.

It is not the final line, but it is the ability to see a leaf while running with friends and to feel wonder.

I have been in love with book since I was a child and I always hope there will be someone who can share the love of book with me. So, when I saw the relationship between Armin and Eren was connected by the book, and they always mention about book they read together, it feels so bad when I realized that when Eren started to act like a stranger and Armin couldn't know what is on Eren mind, it hurts me so much since it means Armin will loose his book friend and reading will not be the same as before.

Is it going to be love afterall?

Attack on Titan is not primarily known for being a romance. Isayama doesn’t put much focus on it and if he does, he usually hints at feelings instead of having his characters outright confess them. That is, until this final arc.

In the final arc of the series this has changed for good. Romantic relationships have become a trademark of the last 30+ chapters with no signs of slowing down. From Sasha and Niccolo to Armin and Annie, Isayama has put quite a lot of emphasis to the feelings of romantic love that have developed between certain characters. And amidst all these couples i have noticed some really interesting patterns.

Pattern no1: In every couple that one of the two people involved confesses his/her feelings in a manner that they cannot be doubted the other one reciprocates. Proof below:

Pattern no2: Love saves people from tragedy and war. Examples below:

And after all these examples we go to our founder Ymir. Ymir was never loved. She never had that kind of connection. King Fritz abused her physically and mentally. That’s pretty much the reason that the Paths exist in the form that we’ve come to know them. The Paths are the manifestation of Ymir’s longing for connections. That’s why she spent 2000 years there as a slave to king Fritz’s desires. She is still attached to that world, where she never knew true love. And what panel did Isayama choose to portray this exact sentiment? 

Ah, yes, that of a couple getting married.

For all intents and purposes, the message here is clear. Love is extremely important in the series. And since the series’s protagonist is none other than Eren, it’s time to examine his case.

So what Eren does is reject these connections. He destroys his bonds with his friends and severely mistreats the two people he cares about the most, Mikasa and Armin. 

And the interesting thing here is that he attacks exactly those feelings of love that they have. He questions the validity of Armin’s feelings for Annie, saying that he has inherited them from Bertolt and he claims that Mikasa cares about him as a result of some mundane Ackerman genes crap. And all that, even though he has learned that Mikasa is most likely in love with him. The final nail in the coffin was his order to Louise to throw Mikasa’s scarf away, the litteral symbol of his connection to the person that loves him the most. 

Eren renounces love. He rejects it and he abandons all hope for it. It could be because he himself knows that he would never be able to see his mission to the end with his Mikasa and Armin by his side. It’s not because he doesn’t want to be loved. The exact opposite. The reason he empathizes with Ymir is exactly that. He wants to be loved. He searched for it one day before leaving the Survey Corps and sealing his fate. When he asked Mikasa “What am i to you” he was looking exactly for that. And it is exactly because of her answer that he went ahead and asked Zeke about her. I highly doubt that Eren would have tried so much to find out Mikasa’s true feelings for him, if he himself didn’t harbor feelings for her.

Eren and Mikasa are a foil to all the other romantic relationships in the story. They don’t confess their feelings in a clear manner, so it unclear to them how each one of them feels about the other and Eren, because he didn’t find love, is not saved. If he were, he would not be destroying the world right now.

Given all that, can something happen? Will there be a development that will turn this ugly situation around? I say yes. And i say so, because of this:

In the promotional trailer for the final two volumes of Attack on Titan, these two scenes were shown. Eren’s promise to wrap the scarf around Mikasa again and the moment where Mikasa regrets that she didn’t admit her true feelings to Eren when he was practically begging her to do so. Mikasa will certainly confess her feelings to Eren. And judging by the fact that Eren’s promise about the scarf is shown as well, i am sure that he will fulfill said promise. To me, that means that Mikasa’s feelings will be returned.

I mean, given the pattern presented, is there really any chance that Mikasa will say to Eren that she is in love with him and he won’t return her feelings? If that’s the case then why the scarf rewrap? And more than anything, when Mikasa does confess, can there really be any other outcome other than Eren stopping his destructive ways? In a story about beauty in a cruel world, i don’t believe that the only answer is pure violence and carnage.
