Lost In Los Angeles

Idol: Seulgi (Red Velvet)

Prompt: During a brief break in promotions, you slip away with Seulgi to enjoy a well-deserved break.

A/N: I’m obsessed with Seulgi’s solo debut and just had to write something after listening to the album on repeat. Somehow we didn’t have a single Seulgi request? So I had to make my own. I love the overall vibe of the album and I genuinely can’t choose a favorite song. It was good enough to inspire me after months of not writing! Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this little scenario!

Noon in Los Angeles, California in the middle of August was sweltering. The sun was beating down onto the pavement and gum-stained sidewalk as Seulgi squinted into the glare, shielding her eyes with her hand. Beside her, you dug through your backpack, then emerged with a pair of sunglasses and pressed the cool plastic against her free hand.

“Take these before you go blind,” you said, a fondness evident in your hoarse voice. As she turned to you, she carefully took the glasses from your outstretched hand and you took the moment to admire her. From this angle, with her skin flushed and slightly tanned from the sun and her hair tied into a loose ponytail, she was almost glowing, artfully disheveled in a t-shirt a size too big and faded jean shorts. Perfection.

“But these are yours.”

“I’ll be okay. Plus, we’re hiding, remember? What if someone recognizes you?”

With a slight pout on her lips, she slid on the sunglasses. “Okay, you’re right. But when will the Uber be here?” With her hand now free, she swung an arm over your shoulders and leaned into you, smelling like your shampoo. It was intoxicating. “We’ve been waiting here forever. I’m gonna melt.”

“I’ll check,” you said, then groaned when you opened the app. “Looks like they’re stuck in traffic on the other side of town, like usual. I bet they’re going to drop us and pick up someone closer.” As if the app had heard you, the screen blipped, then showed that the driver had cancelled your ride. You sighed, cursing under your breath. “I shouldn’t have said anything.”

Seulgi glanced between you and the phone for a moment before squinting down the street once again. “Why don’t we just walk?”

You blinked. “What do you mean? The restaurant is on the other side of town too.”

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to the restaurant,” she quickly clarified, giving you a smile that you knew from experience meant that she was getting an idea (usually a bad one). “What if we just wander around here? We’re not too far from Koreatown, it seems pretty safe here. Plus, I’ve never been able to just wander around when I visited before. I want to see what’s around. Please?”

There was no way you could say no, especially when she had that excited twinkle in her eyes. You knew better than anyone that she didn’t always get to have experiences like this. Smiling back at her, you closed the app and put your phone into your pocket. “Okay, but if we get lost, you have to take responsibility.”

Grinning, she pulled you into a brief hug, planting kisses on both of your cheeks and then to your lips before she pulled away. She looked more excited than you’d seen her in a long time, and you immediately melted even further, knowing you’d do anything she asked for the rest of the day.

“Thank you, (Y/N), this is going to be so much fun!”

“Anything for you. You know that.”

The sun was sinking beyond the buildings and your fingers were sticky from the ice cream Seulgi had thrust into your hands by the time you took a look around and realized that you had no idea where the two of you were. It was a beautiful place, in its own right. There were colorful murals on the buildings and endless shops full of curiosities, and you as turned back to look at your girlfriend, you paused, breath hitched. She was posing for a selfie in front of a bright mural, paints splashed across the wall in a purposeful mess, the bright blues, greens, and pinks made to resemble a pond full of flowers.

God, how was she so beautiful? She wasn’t wearing any makeup, her lips were slightly chapped, and she was licking the rapidly melting ice cream off her fingers without a care in the world, yet somehow she was the most ethereal person you had ever seen. Maybe it was love coloring your vision, making everything seem bright and lovely, or maybe it was the shots of soju the two of you had over dinner, but you never wanted this night to end. You never wanted to stop admiring her.

As if she could feel your eyes on her, she turned and beamed, putting her phone away and jogging slightly to catch up to you.

“I think it’s too hot for this ice cream,” she said, sounding amused as she held her half-eaten cone up. “Maybe we should have eaten it inside.”

“Maybe,” you responded, “or you just eat slow. Look, I’m already almost done.” As if to prove your point, you put the rest of the cone (admittedly, only a bite) into your mouth and playfully raised your eyebrows.

“Your cone was smaller,” she retorted, laughing and knocking her shoulder against yours. She quickly took another bite of her cone, making a point to make eye contact with you. “See? I’m doing my best.” Chuckling, you wrapped your arm around her, pulling her closer to kiss her cheek. A pleased smile spread across her face. “What was that for?”

“Just because I felt like it.” You took another look around. “On another note, we’re totally lost. I’ve literally never seen this street before.”

“It’s very pretty. I like it.” She nodded her head towards the mural she’d just been standing in front of. “I had to get a photo of that one.”

“It is very pretty,” you conceded, “but do you have any idea how to get back to the hotel? I bet your manager has been blowing up your phone.”

She shrugged her shoulders, finishing off her cone. “Yeah, but it’s fine.” There was a dangerous twinkle in her eyes as she turned back to you, a smile growing on her lips again. “You know, there’s a hotel over there. I don’t have any schedules, a night away wouldn’t hurt anyone.”

“Seulgi, your manager is going to think I kidnapped you,” you said, your eyes widening even as an amused and slightly excited smile spread across your face. “Are you being serious?”

“I already told everyone that I’m fine and just having fun,” she said, leaning into you. “What, do you not want to spend the night with me?”

You swallowed, unable to look away as she melted you again with her expectant gaze. “No, I want to.”

“Good.” She reached down to tangle her fingers with yours and leaned in to give you a sweet kiss that tasted like chocolate. Then she tugged your hand, her eyes revealing an exhaustion that only you could understand, yet still full of love and expectation. “Take me away? Please?”

You squeezed her hand, heart full of the urge to hide her away from the pressures of the world forever. She would have to go back, and soon, but for right now, you could try to take the stress away. For now, the two of you could just be two unknown lovers, lost on some Los Angeles street with no cares in the world, loving freely under the summer sun.

As you kissed the back of her hand, you made a silent promise to yourself: you would make tonight a night she would remember for the rest of her life. For tonight, she wouldn’t have to worry about anything. Tonight, you would do anything she wished for. And maybe, just maybe, the two of you wouldn’t have to go back to reality in the morning.

“Lead the way, my love.”

Rookie Girl Groups to Watch in 2022

CSR - CSR is a seven member girl group made up of girls born in 2015 under POPMUSIC entertainment that debuted in July of this year. Their concept is a breath of fresh air and reminiscent of Lovelyz and GFriend! Their debut song is "Pop? Pop!" and features a fresh, age-appropriate concept, which I know I can appreciate. I would recommend that anyone wishing to get into the group check out their video series on 1theK called "The First Judgement." It showcases their personalities and talents really well!

Lapillus - Lapillus is a six member girl group under MLD Entertainment that debuted in June of this year with "Hit Ya!" You might recognize member Shana from Girls Planet 999, and Chanty has become well-known for being the first Filipino-Argentinian Kpop idol! I would personally recommend this performance of "Queendom" for those who don't love their debut title track. Although I don't trust MLD as far as I can throw them, I'm really hoping for the best for these girls.

IRRIS - Anyone who knows me knows that I love IRRIS and I'm doing my best to make everyone else love them too. IRRIS is a four member girl group under JUSTICE RECORDS that debuted with "Wanna Know" in July of this year. Most recently they released a music video for their b-side (and my favorite song of theirs) "Stay With Me" and it seems like they'll be releasing a photo book as well. If you want to know more about them, you can check out my spotlight post. Their Broken Karaoke video is also a great way to see their fun personalities!

H1-KEY - H1-KEY is a four member girl group under Grandline Group that debuted with their song "Athletic Girl" in January of this year. They have a girl crush concept and their debut song is everything sassy that I've been wanting to get from BlackPink but just haven't. Most recently, they came back with their summer track "Run" with a more bright and summery concept that still kept some of the sass and style of their debut. You might recognize member Riina from Produce 48. I would highly recommend following their YouTube channel, where they post content (mostly with English subs!) like their LA Vlog that made me absolutely fall in love with them!

mimiirose - mimiirose is a five member girl group under Yes Im Entertainment that just debuted with their title track "Rose." Currently only the half mv is out, the full mv will be released later but they gave a full performance of "Rose" during their debut showcase, as well as performing their two b-sides "LuLuLu" and "Kill Me More." Member Yoon Jia was a contestant on Girls Planet 999, and maknae Seo Yunju was part of the predebut line-up for bugAboo. I love their debut mini album and I'm looking forward to seeing even more from this group!

ILY:1 - ILY:1 is a six member girl group under FCENM Entertainment that debuted with their title track "Love In Bloom" in April of this year. If you like Oh My Girl, WJSN, fromis_9, or GFriend, then you'll definitely love this group! Most recently, they came back with their song "Que Sera Sera" in July, a perfectly bright and cute summer song. You might recognize members Hana, Ara, Rona, and Ririka from Girls Planet 999. Ririka was also part of Nizi Project season 1. I would recommend that anyone wanting to fall in love with this group watch their interview with ReacttotheK and their pre-debut reality show ILY:0.

CLASS:y - CLASS:y is a seven member girl group that was made and debuted through the show My Teenage Girl. They made their official debut in May of this year with their title track "Shut Down" and then immediately released another mini album with the title track "Classy" a few weeks later. It looks like they have a fun teen crush concept, as their debut music video features them fighting zombies and their music videos feature bright colors. It's pretty easy to learn more about this group since you can watch My Teenage Girl, and they've also appeared on some variety shows like Weekly Idol. Their songs are all really enjoyable, give them a listen!

BeautyBox - BeautyBox is a six member girl group under BY-U Entertainment that made their debut with the song "Rat A Tat" in September of 2021. They are a multi-national group with members from Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and Japan. Most recently they made a comeback with the absolute bop "Boggle Boggle" and they released an English version of their debut song "Rat A Tat." They have a ton of content about the members on their YouTube channel, so it's not hard to learn about and fall in love with the members! I really hope everyone will join me in stanning!

ICHILLIN' - ICHILLIN' is a six member girl group under KM Entertainment that debuted in September of 2021 with their title track "GOT'YA." Since then, they have had comebacks with "Play Hide & Seek" and "Fresh," and they are rapidly improving with every comeback. They were originally seven members, but unfortunately, member Sohee recently left the group due to personal reasons. If you would like to learn more about them, they release a lot of covers and content on their YouTube channel. Their music is very fun and full of energy, if you enjoy groups like Weekly, Pristin, or Woo!Ah! I think you'll love this group!

Rocking Doll - Rocking Doll is a four member girl group under SRP Entertainment that debuted with their self titled single "Rocking Doll" in December of 2021. Since then, they've been uploading and releasing music and content nonstop. Most recently, they had a comeback with "Survive." As someone who has been keeping an eye on their journey, it's definitely their best produced song yet. Coming from a small, brand new company, it seems like their CEO is doing her best to promote the girls and I can really appreciate that! They post a lot of different content on their YouTube channel, so that's the best way to get to know the girls. If you like Alexa's concept, you'll definitely like Rocking Doll!

We;Na - We;Na is a four member girl group under SHINE E&M that just debuted with their song "Like Psycho." Unlike the title suggests, the song is actually super fun and upbeat, the chorus is catchy, and the dance is so much fun that I'm surprised they haven't gone viral with it yet. Seriously, if you're one of the people who misses fun and silly girl group concepts, you won't regret giving them a listen!

SKYLE - SKYLE is a four member girl group under Good Luck Entertainment that debuted with “Fly Up High” in August of 2021. They received some attention during their debut despite being from a small company, but unfortunately it was all because of fans claiming they were copying BlackPink and Everglow with their girl crush concept. Shortly after their debut, they made a music video for their b-side “Da Da Da” which I personally love (and think they should have made the title track to avoid plagiarism claims). They also released an adorable Christmas song called “Our Christmas” before not making any music for a while and releasing some covers and videos on their YouTube channel. Finally, they recently they came back with “Bye Bye Bye” and I absolutely ADORE this song. Also, their company is great at making low-budget music videos look great and work well with the song. Honestly, this group has a lot of potential and I’m really hoping they begin to get more recognition!

bugAboo - bugAboo is a six member girl group under A Team Entertainment that debuted in October of 2021 with their self-titled track “bugAboo” that featured a fun twist on the girl crush concept and featured the girls as ghost busters! Some of the members might look familiar, as Choyeon and Eunchae were both on Produce 48. Recently they had a comeback with “Pop,” another bright teen crush concept kind of like Weki Meki’s early concept. If you want to learn more about the members, they have a series they release called “Discover the Members’ Chemistry” on their YouTube channel that I would recommend, it’s super well edited!

Of course, I can’t leave out the rookies that we all know about this year. I don’t need to introduce them, you all know them, but these groups are KILLING the game and they deserve a mention!

NewJeans - If you haven’t heard “Hype Boy” or “Attention” by now, you’re definitely not on TikTok. NewJeans is a five member girl group under ADOR, a subsidiary of HYBE, and they went super viral before they even debuted. Then, we got their debut with “Cookie” and well.... Considering the members ages, it’s uncomfortable. Personally, since I’m an adult, I won’t be comfortable stanning them with the current circumstances, but it’s undeniable that they have taken the internet by storm and they will be HUGE in the future.

NMIXX - NMIXX is a seven member girl group under JYPE that debuted in February with “o.o” which was... Something, for sure. I feel like there’s a few good songs in there somewhere, but they were all shoved together and in doing so the members’ talents were buried. However! They have done some incredible covers AND they’ll be having a comeback soon with “Dice” so I’m hoping the members will be able to shine!

VIVIZ - Former GFriend members SinB, Eunha, and Umji made their debut again this year as the three member girl group VIVIZ with their title track “Bop Bop” and recently went on Queendom and came back with “Loveade.”

Kep1er - Kep1er is a temporary group formed through the survival show Girls Planet 999. They made their debut with “WA DA DA” and the girls don’t seem to have gotten any rest since then, as they participated in Queendom, came back with “Up,” and have been travelling around to multiple international Kpop concerts, such as KCON. They even made a Japanese debut with “Wing Wing.” Please let them rest, WakeOne.

LE SSERAFIM - We all know LE SSERAFIM, it’s impossible not to know them with everything that has happened and how viral their debut song “Fearless” went. With former IZ*ONE members Sakura and Chaewon and popular Produce 48 contestant Yunjin, it would be very hard for them not to succeed. They are a now five member girl group under HYBE, if you somehow didn’t know. There’s no denying that they’re going to play a huge roll in Kpop from here on out.

Billlie - I honestly think most international fans know Billlie by now, with Tsuki going viral every time she blinks and their songs going viral on TikTok, but for anyone who doesn’t know, Billlie is a seven member girl group under Mystic Entertainment that debuted in November of 2021 with “GingaMingaYo (the strange world)” and dragged me right back into being in love with Kpop by reminding me what I love about it. This is to say that they are incredible. Most recently, they had a comeback with “Ring My Bell (what a wonderful world)” and introduced us to a whole new rock concept from them!

LIGHTSUM - Technically, LIGHTSUM is a year old now, but I don’t think they get as much attention as they deserve so I’m including them. LIGHTSUM is an eight member girl group under CUBE (unfortunately) that debuted in June of 2021 with “Vanilla.” They have an incredible line-up, with Chowon, Nayoung, and Yujeong from Produce 48 and Juhyeon from The Unit as part of the group. While you’ve probably heard of them, I hope you’ll actually give them a good listen and watch their stages: they’re incredibly talented and unfortunately seem to get brushed to the side. They’ve had comebacks with “Vivace” and “Alive” as of late, and if there’s one song you’ll listen to by them, check out “Alive” I promise you’ll enjoy it!

XG - So XG is technically a global Japanese girl group, since all of the members are Japanese. However, since they've been promoting in Korea and I love their songs, I decided to include them. XG is a seven member girl group that debuted with their song "Tippy-Toes" in March and recently went viral with their song "Mascara" blowing up on social media. They upload behind the scenes videos and covers on their YouTube channel if you'd like to learn more about them!

Girl Group Spotlight: IRRIS

IRRIS is a four member girl group under JUSTICE RECORDS that debuted with their EP "Wanna Know" on July 6th. Three of the four members are former members of both Good Day and REDSQUARE, making this their third time debuting. All of the members are also adults, which is refreshing to see especially when so many groups are debuting with younger and younger idols. Their concept is mature and chic and really stands out in the industry.

Members:

I.L: I.L (Kim Jiwon) is the oldest member and leader, born in January of 1997. She was the first member of IRRIS to be revealed. You might recognize her from Good Day, REDSQUARE, and her time on The Unit. She was eliminated from The Unit on episode 7, unfortunately there isn't much focus on her though. Her previous stage names are Genie and Green. She's also an actress and has been in a handful of projects, including "I Can See Your MBTI" and "IDOL: The Coup." She's a bright person who likes coffee, and her role model is f(x)'s Krystal.

Liv: Liv (Kim Chaeyoung) is the second oldest member, born in July of 1997. She is the main dancer and rapper and was the last member of IRRIS to be revealed. You might recognize her from Good Day or REDSQUARE, her previous stage name was Cherry. She's a really good dancer and her specialty is dancing fast. She loves a lot of different colors and her role model is Lisa from BlackPink. She really wants to go on Running Man and take a drive with the other members, since she has a driver's license.

Yunseul: Yunseul (Hwang Nayoon) is the third oldest member, born in March of 1999. She is the main vocalist of the group and was the third member to be revealed. She is also a former member of Good Day and REDSQUARE and previously used her first name Nayoon as her stage name. Yunseul has also done some acting, you can see her in "I Can See Your MBTI." She's always loved singing and drama and was in choir when she was younger. She's a bright and bubbly person, and her nickname is Chick Ari. Her charming point is how positive she is. She loves animals and wants to start a shelter (?) for stray dogs. She does have a few cover videos, such as this cover of How Far I'll Go.

Nina: Nina (Nina Nadia Mateer) is the youngest member, born in March of 2003, and is the only member who wasn't part of Good Day or REDSQUARE. She is the lead dancer and a vocalist and was the second member to be revealed in the lineup. Nina was actually born in Australia, and she's said to be currently studying law there! She decided to become an idol after being scouted because she wants to experience lots of new things.

Songs:

IRRIS just made their debut with "Wanna Know," a uniquely bright song with powerful yet sweet vocals and a horn base. The sound is somewhat reminiscent of songs by Girls Day and feels very grown in a way we haven't seen in Kpop recently. There are two b-sides on the EP, "Bye Bye" and "Stay With Me." Alongside a lot of live stages, they also have a it's Live stage singing their song with a live band.

Since this group is very new, there isn't a ton of content for them yet. However, they did recently guest on Arirang Radio, where they sang their b-sides. They also did a short cover dance relay on genie's YouTube channel. You can also see them in a New Face video by TongTongCulture.

The best place to follow them is on their TikTok! IRRIS is super active on TikTok and they post dances, challenges, and other content. They aren't as active on other social media accounts, but they're also on Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. It seems like their company is actually doing their best to promote them this time as this is more live stages than the members re-debuting have ever gotten to do, so I'm super hopeful for the future of this group! Go check them out and give the brave girls of IRRIS a listen!

A/N: Was anyone else able to catch Dreamcatcher on their world tour? I was lucky enough to see them live and they were incredible! I absolutely adore these girls and I'm so happy that they're finally getting the attention they deserve. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy! - Admin Kiwi

JiU: "You know, you'll always be cute to me. I can't see you as scary!" While your muscles and overall strength would be something that originally attracted her to you, Jiu wouldn’t be able to see you as anything other than her adorable, sweet partner. She would often tease you, asking who you were switching yourself out with when you got into the ring and asking where her baby went, making you flush and try to wave her away, insisting that you were always cool. Of course, she would always remind you that you’re basically a cuddly teddy bear with her. While she would often worry about your health and safety, she would trust that you knew what you were doing and would cheer you on no matter what, wanting to help you achieve all of your dreams in any way possible.

SuA: "Yeah, they're mine! Aren't they so cool?" Listen, there is NO ONE that wouldn’t know that the two of you are dating. She would brag about you constantly, to literally anyone who would listen, flipping her hair and proclaiming that her partner was famous and strong and the best fighter in the ring, and she was willing to fight anyone who said differently. She would be your biggest fan and supporter, always right there in the front row whenever her schedule allowed, never embarrassed about showing just how much she loves and cares for you. Of course, her cheers would always bring a flush to your cheeks, and she would REALLY love that, taking pride in the fact that she’s the only person who can make THE fighter (Y/N) flustered.

Siyeon: "Teach me how to fight! Please?" Siyeon likes to work out, so she would only become more interested in gaining physical strength and lifting once the two of you started going out, since it would be an interest that the two of you shared. She would often tag along with you on trips to the gym, using her skills with a camera to snap flattering photos for your social media before actually working out herself. You would inspire her to get her own personal trainer and the two of you would often play-wrestle, with you often letting her win even though she always complains about you going easy on her. She would love seeing how excited you got about fighting, though. She would do her best to go to every fight you were in and would ACTUALLY fight anyone who jeered you if you let her. Although she would sometimes playfully critique your style after a fight, she would always be in your corner, the first person ready to shower you with praise (and kisses) once you were done.

Handong: "Woah, you're so strong...." Handong would really, really like your muscles. In fact, she would notice them right away (although she wouldn’t admit that until much, much later). Of course, she would quickly fall in love with your personality too, but it would be your strength that she always brought up first when talking about you, subtly bragging about how you carried her bridal-style whenever she was tired and pick her up like it was easy. “Ah, my partner, (Y/N), I’m sure you’ve heard of them, right?” She would be prouder of you than anyone, always keeping track of your achievements and helping you celebrate whenever you won a big fight. Of course, she wouldn’t be able to resist teasing you a bit, over-exaggerating her reactions when you worked out in front of her or asking if you were showing off whenever you carried her groceries, but there would always be true admiration behind her words. Trust me, when you’re around, she’s not looking at anyone but you.

Yoohyeon: "You should show me some moves! It looks so cool!" Yoohyeon wouldn’t know a ton about your job, but she would be immediately interested, especially once she saw just how strong you were. She would playfully ask you for tips at the gym, just as a way to flirt, only to get flustered when you actually gave her some, rushing to write down everything that you were saying. Later, you would tease her about this big time, making her whine and exclaim that she just wanted to make a good first impression, is that so bad? In all seriousness, she would quickly become your right-hand woman, wanting to learn everything about the sport because she wanted to learn everything about you. She would like showing off the moves you taught her to her friends in order to teach them too, knowing it would be helpful for self defense as well as fun. She would also attend as many of your fights as possible, cheering for you cheerfully and even making you personalized towels and water bottles to show just how cherished and loved you are to all of your fans (and subtly showing everyone that you were hers, too).

Dami: "Just don't get hurt out there, okay?" Dami wouldn’t think too much about your muscles or your strength when the two of you first met, because to be honest, she wouldn’t know much about MMA. Sure, she would be impressed, but it wouldn’t be something she focused on, more interested in hearing about your life and your hobbies. However, once the two of you started getting closer and you told her more about your job, she would be interested, but also worried. Whenever you came home with bruises or cuts, she would flutter around you, telling you to be more careful as she fixed you up with ointments and well-placed kisses. Still, no matter how much she worried about you getting hurt in the ring, she would also love seeing how passionate you were about fighting, and she would know she could never ask you to stop. So instead, she would be your quiet, sweet support on the sidelines, making you promise to fight hard and come back to her safely and joking that she would fight you if you got hurt.

Gahyeon: "I want to learn how to fight too. Is it fun?" Gahyeon would be so excited when she first learned about your job and the sport. Her eyes would quite literally light up and she would clasp her hands together, immediately asking you to teach her how to beat someone up with such a sweet smile that you couldn’t help laughing and falling for her, hard. She would literally have you wrapped around your finger, and so you would quickly teach her basic moves, while warning her to please not use them on unsuspecting, innocent people. She would love being picked up and cherished by you, and would brag about you to anyone who would listen, telling them all about your fights and making you sound almost like an Avenger. Of course, you would melt in front of her, letting her beat you in play fights and bending down to kiss her as soon as she asked, but she would love seeing you get into the ring to fight, because to her you were the coolest person ever. She would cheer for you like a coach and then smother you with love after each fight, always making you laugh with her sweet, bubbly, and yet slightly bratty and feisty personality, no matter how the fight ended.

Hey everyone! As you all know, I've been extremely busy and I'm only now trying to come back from hiatus. As much as I want to write and put out content for you guys, working as much as I do right now makes putting out long-form content hard. I recently made a Twitter and I'm wondering if you guys would like me to make content there, or if you have anything you'd like me to do? A/N: fromis_9 just released "Stay This Way" and it's the perfect summer song! Go give it lots of support, especially since the girls could use it after the accident :( I'm just glad they're okay. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this little scenario!

If Saerom was honest, she couldn't remember the last time she'd been able to take a day off and enjoy a movie at the movie theater. It felt like it had been forever since she'd sank into the plush theater seats with a bucket of popcorn on her lap and no worries about getting swarmed or having her phone go off like crazy. So when you suggested that the two of you go see a new popular movie, she couldn't help being excited. Not only did she get to spend the day with her favorite person, but since the two of you were going on a slow day with no one else in the theater, she didn’t have to worry about constantly checking to see if anyone was watching.

And if she was lucky, she might be able to hold your hand and rest her head on your shoulder while the movie played.

A small smile played on her lips as she slipped soundlessly out of her room and to the front door. The rest of the girls were likely still asleep, since they were in the habit of staying up late playing games these days, so she was careful not to make too much noise as she headed out, closing the door gently behind her.

As she headed down the stairs outside her dorm, she spotted you waiting outside your car and her smile grew even wider, her pace speeding up as she all but skipped over to you.

"(Y/N)!" She called, and laughed as you pulled her into a tight hug and spun her around. "Did you wait long?"

"Not long at all," you responded with a grin as you pulled away. "I just got here. Were you waiting for me?"

"Nope, you were right on time. For once," she said playfully, making you roll your eyes in response and let out a laugh.

"I'm not the one who's been nicknamed sloth," you shot back as you opened her door for her, and she giggled and kissed your cheek behind the cover of the door before stepping inside your car.

"Anyway, what movie are we watching? You never told me."

"It's a surprise, you'll see when we get there," you teased as you settled into the driver's seat, then reached across the middle console to tangle your fingers with hers. "I promise you'll like it, though."

She laughed and squeezed your hand, gazing at you affectionately. "I'll trust you, then. I'm excited."

The movie theater was quiet when the two of you arrived, and Saerom took her time looking around at all the movie posters and advertisements as you found the tickets on your phone. Just being there filled her with joy, reminding her just how much she loved going to see movies, and she found herself smiling happily again. It was exciting just stepping inside, no matter what movie the two of you ended up watching.

"Ah, I found them! Looks like there's still no one else in the theater." As you spoke, you reached over to take her hand and sent her a wink, making her laugh.

"You seem excited about that," she teased, knocking her shoulder against yours as the two of you headed to the ticketing desk. "Do you have something in mind?"

"Is it so bad to want to hold your hand?"

"No, because I want to hold yours too." She gave your hand a squeeze, then spotted the snack station and stopped, excitedly pointing towards it. "Babe, we have to get popcorn!"

You laughed as you scanned in the two tickets on your phone, skillfully using your body to hide her face from the view of the worker (who truly looked like she'd rather be in bed). "Are you actually going to get butter popcorn, or are you going to get that healthy stuff instead?"

Pouting, she playfully elbowed your side. "Listen, kettle corn is yummy and healthier, it's a win-win! It's not my fault I like healthy tastes. I'll buy you some butter popcorn if you want."

"No, no, I'm just teasing," you said quickly, shaking your head. "I'll buy, since I'm taking you out today."

"How romantic," she cooed at you, a satisfied smile on her lips. She wasn't used to being pampered and taken out like this, especially since she was usually the one taking care of her members instead, but she found that she quite liked it. In fact, she found that she never wanted this time to end, with the two of you playfully bantering over the snacks and drinks and laughing at the cheesy movie posters. She was having more fun than she had been able to have in a while and she loved it.

When the two of you finally made your way to the theater, arms full of snacks, she saw the name of the movie and gasped.

"Oh, I've been wanting to see this movie! My favorite actress is in it!"

"I know," you responded with a proud grin, wiggling your eyebrows. "I know everything about you."

"Sap," she said, smiling like crazy. For some reason just those words were enough to make her heart slip a beat. "But thank you."

"Anything for you, Romsae."

The seats were big and plush and the theater was cool and empty, and Saerom let out a contented sigh as she sank into her seat, closing her eyes for a minute. Honestly, it was so comfortable she could probably fall asleep.

"This is so nice. I want one of these seats at my house.”

“Then what would be the point in coming to the movie theater?” You joked playfully as you sat beside her, arranging the snacks on the seat beside you. “You might as well have a home theater.”

“That’s a great idea. I want one.” Smiling, she opened her eyes and reached over to hold your hand. "Then we could have movie dates every day!"

"That doesn't sound bad," you admitted, snuggling closer to her and pressing a kiss to her cheek. In response, she rested her head on your shoulder, settling in as the theater grew darker with her body pressed against your arm.

This was so nice. Cuddling with you in a cool, empty theater while watching her favorite actress and eating snacks between stolen kisses.... What else could she ever wish for? The setting was somehow so intimate, and she found herself never wanting to leave the atmosphere, far away from all of her worries and responsibilities.

Of course, all good things must come to an end, and as the movie credits started to roll, she sat up in her seat but refused to let go of your hand.

"That felt so short, I wanted to see more," she said as she turned to you, her eyes slightly starry. "The main couple had so much chemistry, don't you think? I loved the scene where they were hiding in the locker room, I think I still have tears in my eyes from laughing."

You smiled affectionately, fixing her hair that had gotten messed up from cuddling with you. "That was a great scene. Your laughter was cute."

"Yours too, but you laughed more when their parents found out about them dating."

"That was such a good scene!"

The two of you continued to laugh and chatter as you got up and exited the theater, still hand in hand and lost in your own little world. In fact, the two of you continued to talk and laugh until your car pulled up in front of her dorms. It was then that she sobered and her lips pouted on their own.

She didn't want to part. Not yet.

"Hey, why don't you come in? I still haven't given you back that hoodie."

You grinned and immediately turned off your car, dramatically flinging open your door to make her laugh. "I was hoping you would say that!"

It wasn't until the two of you reached the door that Saerom realized this may have been a mistake, because before she could even touch the keypad, the door flung open and she was greeted by a smirking Chaeyoung and a cluster of girls waiting on the couch and at the table behind her.

"Well, if it isn't the lovebirds, back from their date!" Chaeyoung looked the two of you up and down, making Saerom's face flush pink.

"Stop that," she said, despite knowing that the two of you were going to be bombarded with questions. She loved these girls, but sometimes she felt like their mom. "Come on, you guys know (Y/N)."

"But we could know them better, Unnie," Chaeyoung responded, and Jiheon hopped up from her place on the couch to bound over.

"Come on, tell us what movie you watched! Was it good?" She latched herself onto Saerom's arm, eyes wide with expectation.

"Oh, (Y/N), are you good at games?" Jiwon asked from her spot on the couch, holding up her video game controller. "You should play with us."

"Unnie, it's only fair that you watch a movie with us too," Gyuri added, a mischievous edge to her sweet voice, and Saerom sighed. If even Gyuri was playing along, there would be no getting out of this.

"Do you want to stay and have a game and movie night, (Y/N)?" She asked as she turned to you, relieved to see you smiling like you found the whole thing funny instead of embarrassing or annoying.

"That sounds like so much fun," you replied, taking her hand and squeezing it once again. Your action caused the girls to squeal and Chaeyoung to reach for her phone, and Saerom sighed once again, putting her palm to her face. But this time, the sigh was affectionate and she couldn't stop the smile spreading to her lips.

Spending the night with all of her favorite people didn't sound too bad....

Hours later, she found herself sitting on her bed beside you with your backs to the wall, half-listening to Jiwon and Hayoung playing karaoke in the living room as she played with your fingers, her head on your shoulders.

"Today was fun," you said, voice soft and loving as you rested your head on hers. She hummed in agreement, closing her eyes.

"It was. Thank you for inviting me out, I needed it. It feels like all of my stress is gone."

"Of course, baby. Thanks for inviting me in. It was really funny watching everyone play games."

She let out a soft laugh. "We get a bit crazy," she admitted, her cheeks flushing.

"It's cute, though. Everything is cute on you."

"Yeah?" She opened her eyes and angled her face up to face you, her eyes half-lidded and shining with affection. Instead of answering, you leaned down to kiss her, slow and sweet. She brought a hand up to cup and caress your cheek, eyes fluttering closed once again.

When you pulled away, slightly breathless with red lips, she had to resist the urge to chase and capture your lips again.

"I love you," she whispered instead, and you smiled, bright and pure and full of love, whispering back before you leaned in once again, giving her what she wanted. Like you always did.

"I love you too."
