Starting Life In Hawkins - Chapter 16
Tumblr media
This is the final chapter! Really hope you've enjoyed this as much as I've enjoyed writing it :)
Warning - Swearing, fluff, hospitals, teen pregnancy
Pairing - Eddie Munson x (f) reader
Chapter 16
“We need to get him to a hospital now!” Steve yells.
“He’s a wanted man, they’ll arrest him on the spot!” Robin shouts back at him.
“If he doesn’t get to a hospital, he’s going to die!” Nancy turns around as she tends to his wounds. I stand up and start packing things into a small backpack.
“Steve, get your car and bring it to the front” Dustin says. Steve does as he’s told and goes to get the car.
“Y/N are you ok?” Robin comes over to me and places her hand on my shoulder. It makes me jump. I’m not really thinking straight and can’t process what is going on. I breakdown again thinking about how Eddie was just lying there. How he’s still in a life or death situation. I crumble into Robin.
Next thing I know we are all bundled into Steve's car driving at speed to the hospital. I’m laying the boot with Eddie’s head resting in my lap. He was so pale. His eyes focused on my face as I ran my hands through his hair. “You’re going to be ok baby, we’re going to the hospital.” I whisper to him. He slowly nods his head and gasps at the pain as Steve hits a pothole.
“The cops are going to arrest me.” He winces through the pain.
“And I will do everything in my power to clear your name.” I assure him. “There’s a fucking cracks in Hawkins, I’m pretty sure this isn’t going to be the weirdest thing they hear today.”
Finally we get to the hospital. Doctors and nurses swarm Eddie and we watch as they escort him away. I’m left there standing in the middle of the corridor frozen in time. People rush past me shouting things to each other. Everything around me is going a million miles an hour and I’m stuck. Stuck in the spot where I stand, not really knowing what was happening.
Next thing I know is blackness as I hit the floor. My name is being shouted in the distance. Everything sounded muffled and then deadly silent.
*
I woke in a daze not knowing where I was. I looked at my arm and saw a drip inserted into the nook of my arm. “Hey sweetie you’re awake” my dad's voice flooded my ears. I was so confused. “You’re in the hospital. You collapsed.”
I sat bolt upright “Eddie, where is he, is he ok?”
“Shh, he’s ok. He needed surgery and he’s just recovering. Do you want to go see him?” I nod and my dad helps me out of the bed and down the hallway to Eddie’s room.
Dustin, Steve and Robin are surrounded around Eddie’s bed laughing and joking. I hear Eddie’s laugh and my heart fills with joy knowing he was ok and he was alive.
Dustin nudges Steve and they part. Eddie’s face freezes and then a grin appears on his face as he sees me walking up to him. “There’s my girl.” he coos at me. “We should leave you two in peace.” Steve says and everyone leaves the room.
“You scared me.” Eddie tells me.
“I scared you? You ran into a mob of fucking murderous bats!” I say back to him gently punching his arm. He grimaces and laughs.
“Touche Mrs M.” He holds his hands up in defeat. “Thanks for saving my ass again babe.”
“Anytime.” I manage to squeeze myself on the bed and fall asleep in his arms.
Somehow a week later, Eddie was a free man. We had given our statements to the police and with everything that had happened in Hawkins recently, he was believed. The police had bigger things to do such as to figure out what was happening and look for the missing people since the ground split.
As we left the hospital I supported Eddie as he hobbled to the car. My dad and Wayne waiting to meet us. “Hey, what are you guys doing here?” Eddie asked as he embraced his uncle.
“Well, you need a lift to the court house don’t you?” Wayne laughed.
“Courthouse? But my name was cleared.” Eddie looked confused and panicked. I grab his hand and squeeze it.
“A wedding in the woods doesn’t mean you’re married, dumbass. Make my daughter an honest woman.” My dad slaps Eddie’s back and smiles at him.
Eddie looks at me and smiles, “Do they know?” I nod and smile at him.
“They know everything.” I look at my dad. He wasn’t very accepting at first when he found out I was pregnant but when I told him everything that had happened he understood why I needed to go through with this. We had lost so much in a year. Mom, our house, so much, we had been broken people. Without realising Eddie had fixed us both. Getting my dad to open up about my mom and speak about her, Eddie helped my dad to heal. My dad knew from the beginning of the manhunt for Eddie that he was not capable of murder.
Wayne drives Eddie to the courthouse separately and I drive with my dad. “You sure about this honey?” My dad asks me.
“Never been so sure of something in my life.” I twist my mom's engagement ring around my finger.
“She would be so proud of you.” I could hear him choke on his words as his eyes filled with tears. “You have been through so much and come out fighting.”
“I guess I take after her with that.” I smile at him but he doesn’t move his eyes off the road. “Do you think she would have liked Eddie?”
“She would have loved him. He reminds me of myself when I first met your mom, you know.”
“Really?” I was shocked, I couldn’t imagine my dad being young like Eddie.
“Yeah, more like the nerdy side, not the metalhead side.” He laughed “Your mom was more the metalhead.”
As we drove we reminisced about mom. Laughing and crying. We hadn’t really spoken about her since her death. It was nice that my dad was finally comfortable enough to talk to me about her. I knew I reminded him of her and that's why he avoided me for so long. Up until Eddie came into our lives.
My dad pulled up outside the courthouse. Eddie and Wayne were already inside. Nancy ran to come and meet us holding a dress out to me. “Come on, you need to change quickly.” The dress wasn’t really my style but Nancy had insisted that I needed to wear something white so lent me a white summer dress.
“I’m not wearing the shoes Nancy.” I laugh at her as she pulls a small kitten heel shoe with a massive bow on the front out of her bag. Robin nods her head in agreement with me.
“Robin, take your shoes off, they’re white.” Nancy tells her.
“What - but” Robin looks at Nancy, looks at me and gives in and unties her white converses.
We swap shoes and we are finally set to go.
Nancy and Robin really pulled it out of the bag last minute. They had helped organise everything with the help of Steve.
“Ok, lets do this.” I say as I walk out of the bathroom and meet Eddie and Wayne outside the room where we are due to get married. Everyone had turned up. Dustin, Mike, Will, El, Jonathan, Lucas and Erica were standing in a circle chatting away with Eddie, Wayne, Steve and my dad. I watch Steve’s face drop as Nancy takes her place next to Jonathan.
Eddie turned around as the group went quiet. His eyes nearly popped out of his head as he saw me. I wipe my hands down my dress to smooth it out. “Wow. You look beautiful.” He almost runs up to me, grabbing me around the waist.
“Thank you. Shall we do this? For real this time?” I ask him and place a kiss on his smooth lips.
He grabs my hand and we enter the courtroom.
Through tears, laughter and a lot of mocking of each other we leave the room as Mr & Mrs Munson.
I felt like I was on cloud nine. Everything I had ever wanted finally came true. My life was just beginning with Eddie.
*
So what happened after the wedding you ask?
Hawkins was still under the immediate threat of the Upside Down and Vecna. Every civilian was evacuated to the next town over.
Eddie and I carried on studying hard so we would graduate high school together. Everyone directly involved were allowed to take their exams later than usual. We both managed to get to graduation, I was heavily pregnant but we got there. We smashed it. And as promised, Eddie flipped the bird at Principle Higgins when he was presented his diploma.
Eddie started working at a bar part-time and studying to become a mechanic, saving up enough for our own little trailer. It wasn’t what we had planned but it was enough for us.
I gave birth to Eddie's son in October. We named him Ozzy in tribute to the first song that brought us together.
Our friends visited us every week. We were all connected for life.
Robin finally admitted she was in love with Vicky from band. Vicky was relieved and they have been happy in love ever since.
Nancy and Jonathan broke up when Jonathan moved back to California.
Steve declared his love for Nancy. He really put his heart on the line after seeing mine and Eddie’s love story unfold. It worked, Nancy and Steve are now together and have moved to New York while Nancy is at college. Steve calls Eddie every two or three days for a catch up.
El, Mike, Lucas, Dustin and Will are inseparable. Friends back together after months apart.
Dustin spends most evenings at our trailer playing the part of Uncle Dusty Bun.
The Hellfire Club would meet at ours on a weekly basis, Eddie still as Dungeon Master, only my place on the throne with him had been taken over by Ozzy. Eddie was so proud of our boy and he was the best dad I could have asked for our son.
And the ruined packet of Marlboro reds, that packet I handed Eddie in the gas station on our first meeting, I framed it. It was more than just trash to us, it was the beginning of our love story and it took pride of place next to our wedding photo and the picture of new born Ozzy.
I didn’t know if we were ever completely safe, but at this point in time, I had everything I had ever wanted.
‘86 was really Eddie Munson's year.

Starting Life In Hawkins Chapter 15
Tumblr media
WARNING - swearing, teen pregnancy, fluff, violence, spoilers, THAT SCENE IN EPISODE 9!
This is the second to last chapter - I have really enjoyed writing this series and glad so many people have taken the time to read through :)
Chapter 15
Once dusk had hit we dropped Max, Lucas and Erica off at the old Creel house before we made our way to the outskirts of the trailer park, taking shelter in the woods until the grounds quietened down, getting ready to jump back into the upside down.
I still hadn’t worked up the courage to look at the pregnancy test which Eddie was still trying to steal from me. He was itching to know whether he was going to be a dad or not. “We need to know before we go back in there.” He reasoned with me. “If it is positive I know I need to make sure I’m on my A game to protect you.”
“Eddie, can we just wait to look after we’ve done this please.” I pleaded with him. Nancy had now joined us so Eddie stopped talking. “It’s ok, she knows.”
“Y/N you still haven’t looked?” She asks in surprise.
“I can’t, not right now with us about to back into the upside down.” My hands shaking as I grab the test from my pocket. Robin has joined us now followed up by Steve.
“What the fuck guys, thanks for leaving me out the loop again.” Steve throws his hands in the air.
“Sorry Harrington, you’re just so judgemental and that.” Eddie teases.
“Nancy’s right though, you need to look at it.” Robin says.
Eddie positions himself next to me and grips around arm. Slowly I turn the test over. Through the growing darkness it's hard to read. Eddie’s grip loosens “Negative.” I hear him sigh as he says it. Disappointment floods me, I feel like I’ve let him down again.
Robin snatches the test off of me and takes it over to a spot in an opening where moonlight is starting to shine through to get a better look.
“Err guys, wanna come have a look again?” We hear her shout.
Eddie drags me over and we stare over Robin’s shoulder. The faintest of lines is there. We are pregnant. Eddie beams down at me and grabs me around the waist and spins me around. “We’re having a mini Munson!” He exclaims. Steve surprisingly gives Eddie a hug and congratulates him and Nancy and Robin give me a group hug. Dustin is jumping up and down again unable to contain his excitement.
“You know you’re not coming with us now.” Eddie steps closer to me holding my arms “I need you to be safe with our little one.”
“Like fuck I’m not. I need to help you keep safe.”
“Y/N, you can stay on the other side of the gate, you’ll still be able to help.” Dustin says. I turn to him and can’t formulate words.
“Eddie, no this isn’t fair. I need to be in there with you.” I push him away.
“Listen to me!” Eddie shouts at me. He’s never raised his voice at me before. The other back away to give us our space. “I need you to be safe. I need our baby to be safe. Please just listen to me.” He looks at me and grabs my face in his hands. He kisses me and presses his body against me. My hands lock around his waist and I lower my head into his chest and sob. His arms wrap around my shoulders and he kisses the top of my head. “Marry me.” I hear him say into my hair.
“I’ve already said yes doofus.” I sob into him.
“No. Marry me now.” Eddie loosens his grip on me. “Then if anything happens to me, you’ll always have a part of me. My surname. I mean it won’t be legally binding but you know what I mean.” His fingers tilt my head up to look at him. I nod. I know I just need to do what he’s asking then to fight him. I can see the fear in his eyes at the thought of losing me.
“Err Harrington, you don’t happen to know how to perform a wedding do you?”
“Are you actually shitting me right now? What makes you think one of us can legally marry you and also we kind of have a plan of something to do tonight which doesn’t involve this.” Steve complains. Nancy puts her hand on his chest to calm him down. I get his frustration, but we aren’t expecting to actually get properly married, just something that we can commit too.
“I’ll do it.” Robin steps forward.
“I mean I would have done it.” Steve defends himself.
“OK well we’ll do it together.”
Dustin and Eddie start making a bit of a clearing while Nancy is trying to clean as much dirt off my face as possible. Steve and Robin take their positions at the top of the clearing and Eddie stands just in front of them, his back turned to me and Dustin just to his right.
Nancy linked her arm in mine and walked me down the makeshift aisle while we all hummed the wedding march. I couldn’t help but laugh at how school like this felt. Everyone used to pretend to get married in the playground in elementary and this was exactly how it felt.
Reaching Eddie, he turns around to look at me, mock surprise on his face. “Didn’t expect to see you here.” He jests.
“I was planning on doing a runner.” I joke and he makes a surprised face clutching his chest. Two of his rings are missing off of his left hand.
“Shall we get started?” Steve asks, looking at us. Eddie grabs my hand and we face Steve and Robin.
“We are gathered here today, to join Edward Munson and Y/N Y/L/N in kind of holy matrimony.” Steve glances at Robin to take over.
“Eddie, please face your bride.” Eddie turns to me, smile beaming across his face, his dimples deeper than Ive seen them before. Butterflies fill my stomach and I grip onto his hands. “Eddie, do you take Y/N to be your wife?” Robin asks.
“Fuck yes.” Eddie beams.
“And Y/N, do you take Eddie to be your husband?” Steve asks.
“Of course.” I beam back at Eddie.
Dustin hands Eddie his two rings. He places it in my hand to put on his finger. It slides on with a push and then I give him my hand. The ring, way too big, loosely spins on my finger. We all laugh knowing it would of never fitted.
“You may now kiss your bride.” Robin announces. Eddie takes a small step forward and places one hand around my waist and one hand cupping my cheek and pulls me in to kiss me. I never wanted this moment to end. This was far from how I imagined marrying Eddie but it was perfect in its own little way.
“We’ll make it official once you’re out of the upside down.” I tell Eddie as we break away from our kiss. He nods and smiles at me.
*
We sneak along the tree lines to Eddie's trailer in the cover of darkness. Entering Eddie’s trailer, the bed sheet make shift ladder is still hanging between the two worlds. Steve is the first back into the upside down. We start sending through bags and weapons that are needed so Steve can set them down before moving the upside down mattress in position for everyone else to fall on.
Nancy is the next on through, Robin and Dustin follow. Eddie prepares himself to go in. He spins on his heels and looks at me. “I will be back Mrs Munson. Do not in any circumstances follow me in here. Do you understand?” I nod and he steps forward and kisses me before climbing into the upside down.
I can’t help but think of the worse case scenario that I’m not going to see him again. I cradle my stomach. Our unborn child may never meet their dad. I can’t have that. I start to pace as I can hear them getting into position and running through the plan again. Eddie and Dustin are phase 3, draw the bats away from Vecna. The decoys.
I feel useless as I can hear Eddie and Dustin banging away setting up the outside of the trailer to protect themselves as much as they can from the demobats.
“Are you guys sure you don’t need any help?” I yell.
“No thanks babe!” Eddie shouts back.
“We do need you to plug this in.” The amp power lead. This means they were almost ready. I shakily grab the lead the Dustin has thrown through the gate and plug it in to the nearest socket.
“Ready for the most metal concert ever babe?” Eddie stands there beaming at me way too excited for what is actually about to happen. I nod, a pit in my stomach. I watch as he walks out of sight and then brings back his first love - his guitar. He looks at me, raises the guitar and shouts “This is for you baby!” Tears fill my eyes.
“Be careful! I love you!” I shout at him.
“I love you more! I won’t be stupid”
*
I sit and wait twisting Eddie's ring around my finger. My leg jiggling up and down watching the minutes tick past. This is unbearable. I can hear Eddie playing Master of Puppets at the highest volume. I rest my head in my hands, this is unbearable. I can't take just sitting here. Next thing I know the guys have rushed back into the trailer and slammed the door behind them. “MOST METAL EVER!” I hear Dustin and Eddie scream. Eddie rushes to the gate and smiles at me, then something grabs their attention. The vents. They forgot to seal the fucking vents. I knew I should have gone with them. I had warned Eddie that he needed to make sure they were covered.
Eddie slams the door to the bedroom where they’re coming through as Dustin starts to climb. My hands are out ready to try and pull Dustin through quicker so Eddie can start climbing. Dustin falls on to the mattress. “Eddie, come on!” I scream at him. Eddie grabs the sheets and looks at me, then at the door, then back at me. “Don’t you even fucking dare Munson, you hear me! You promised you wouldn’t do anything stupid!” I watch as his eyes fill with tears.
“Look after our baby.” Eddie starts cutting the sheets and they fall to the ground.
“EDDIE!” I scream after him as he exits the trailer. “DUSTIN QUICK, FIND SOMETHING THAT CAN GET US THROUGH!” Dustin is scrambling behind me trying to find more sheets to tie together. He’s taking too long. I look around and see the rickety metal table where Eddie and I have shared many meals together. I push it over to where the gate it, put a chair on top of it and climb up. I manage to find the strength to pull myself up through the gate and fall onto the mattress below back into the upside down. Dustin is standing looking at me. “I need to find him!” Dustin nods and starts to climb up the table. I don’t wait for him and leg out the trailer door, makeshift shield in hand.
I burst out of the trailer looking around trying to figure out what way Eddie went. I see a cloud of bats circling. I run towards it without thinking. I need to save him.
Focused I run, I run as fast as I can. Dustin is calling from behind me but I can’t slow down. I stumble and fall to the ground skinning my knees. I raise my head and see Eddie being pinned down by demobats, gnawing away at his flesh. I grab tightly onto the shield and push myself up, Dustin grabs my arm and we run together to go save him.
Anger takes over and I smash away bat after bat that are tornadoing around us. One manages to bite down on my shoulder making me swear loudly but not slowing me down. I need to save Eddie.
The bats start to dissipate. The others must have gotten to Vecna but we have no idea if they had succeeded or not. I run and skid on my knees next to Eddie grabbing and cradling his head. I look down at his body, his wounds are bad and he’s bleeding badly. My eyes explode with tears. He looks up at me “I didn’t run away this time.” He says smiling up at me, tears streaming down him face.
“You idiot!” I cry at him. “What were you doing?” My hand tightly knots in his hair as I lean my forehead on his, my tears spilling onto his face.
“I had to buy the others some time. I’m sorry babe. I’m sorry I won’t meet our child.” Eddie said breathlessly. “I love you.”
“Don’t talk like that Eddie. You’re going to be ok. You have to be ok. I need you. We need you.” I tell him, placing his hand on my stomach. Eddie starts to close his eyes slowly. “Don’t you fucking dare Munson, don’t you fucking dare! Dustin help me!” I stand and start to drag Eddie.
I don’t know where Dustin and I find the strength but we manage to drag Eddie back to the trailer and somehow manage to lift him through the gate. His lifeless body crashes down onto the mattress with a thud. I quickly follow and so does Dustin.
As we near my trailer, Steve, Nancy and Robin rush out of Eddie's trailer and join us dragging Eddie's body across the ground. All of a sudden the ground starts to shake violently. The ground opens around Eddie's trailer, swallowing it whole and a red washes through the darkness. A crack spreads through the ground towards the centre of Hawkins. Dustin and I watch in disbelief still dragging Eddie to safety.
“Eddie! Eddie wake up!” I thump his chest and shake his shoulders. Relief washes over me as he grimaces and his eyes flicker open. “Fuck I thought I’d lost you.”

Starting Life in Hawkins Chapter 14
Tumblr media
Warning - swearing,
Pairing - Eddie Munson x (f) reader
Chapter 14
We skulked back into the living room where the others were still discussing plans, hoping we wouldn’t be spotted. “Hey where have you two been?” questioned Steve, studying our faces “Actually I don’t think I want to know.”
“Is that a ring on your finger Y/N?” asked Robin. Dustin started jumping up and down excitedly.
“You did it? You asked her?" The others looked at him puzzled. Eddie nodded and smiled at Dustin. Of course he knew before I did, Eddie told Dustin everything. “Congratulations!” Dustin screamed running up to us and basically tackling us to the ground in a hug.
“Yes, the world is ending, perfect time to get engaged.” huffed Steve.
“And I thought I was the cynical one Harrington.” Eddie nudged Steve as he walked to take a seat on the couch. “Catastrophic disaster incoming, I thought I would let the girl I love know how much I love her.” He glared at Steve and then darted his eyes back and forth from Steve to Nancy. Steve gave Eddie a look that said ‘shut the fuck up’.
“I think it's sweet,” chirped Robin.
“Me too.” Nancy said, grabbing my hand to look more closely at the ring. “Munson, you did well.”
“It was my moms.” I smile at Nancy and look at Eddie. “He did perfectly.”
“I hate to break this up but we actually have a plan now, well kind of, we just need a mode of transport to get us there.” Max buts in.
Eddie and I look at each other, both thinking the same thing. Grins appear on our faces and we nod. “What, you guys have some secret car you’ve not told us about?” Steve asks.
“Not exactly a car so to speak and not exactly ours.” I reply.
“I don’t like the sound of this.” Steve looks at the others.
“It will do. Hey Max, have you got a ski mask, bandana, something like that we can have to hide Eddie's face?” I ask. She nods, runs to her trailer and comes back with a Michael Myers mask. “You look ridiculous!” I can’t help but cry with laughter as Eddie puts the disguise on.
“Come on, we need to get going.” Nancy tells us.
Outside Sneaking around Eddie beacons us to move around the back of an RV. He finds an unlocked window and climbs in, the rest of us following behind him. He locks the RV door before moving into the driver's seat and yanking out a load of wires. “Where did you learn how to do this?” Steve asks Eddie as he starts cutting wires so he can hot wire the RV.
“While the other dads were teaching their kids to fish or play ball, my old man was teaching me how to hot wire. I swore to myself that I wouldn’t wind up how he did, but now look at me. On the run for murder and soon grand theft auto.” he started sparking the wires together. “Really living up to that Munson name.”
“Err Eddie I don’t know how comfortable I feel with you driving this.” Robin voices her concerns.
“Oh I’m starting the sucker. Harrington’s got her. Don’t ya big boy.” Robin and Steve look at Eddie and then at each other. Not sure if they loved that plan either but before they could protest the RV was starting up. The couple that owned the RV started yelling and banging on the windows trying to get us to let them in. Eddie jumped up to make room for Steve. Steve jumped into the drivers seat. “HANG ON TO SOMETHING!” Steve floored it.
“Man they look pissed.” Dustin said looking out the back at them.
“I mean it’s not every day that you lose your home and your car in one big swoop.” I tell him as Eddie finds his feet and sits next to me. We were on our way to a shop called ‘The War Zone’. A shop far enough out of Hawkins that Eddie shouldn’t get recognised if he was seen. A place where it was completely legal to buy any weapon.
*
An hour or so passed into our journey. Nancy had taken a seat next to Steve at the front of the RV. I watch them chat away and nudge Eddie. “Do you think they’ll ever fix things and get back together?”
“Anything is possible sweetheart.” Eddie smiles down at me.
“So when do you guys plan on getting married then?” Dustin asks us excitedly. “I would do it now if we could.” Eddie replies. “Don’t want to waste a second without my girl sharing my name.” He was so cute when he wanted to be. Everyone had a picture painted of Eddie, Eddie the freak, Eddie the nerd, Eddie the metal head. No one really knew him like I did. Eddie the sweetheart. “Then we can have baby Munsons.” He was beaming. That jogged something in my head. When was my last period? We had months of unprotected sex and I have gotten caught up in it all losing track of time. Worry had obviously flooded my face as Dustin excused himself and got up to sit with Max and Lucas.
“Hey sorry I didn’t mean to scare you.” Eddie said, stroking my arm. “Are you ok?”
“No, its not that, it’s…well I can’t remember when my last period was.” I started trying to think really hard. It must have been last month right? Eddie was trying to work it out now as well.
“It was when your dad went away for that training course.” Eddie said.
“Eds, that was nearly 2 months ago! Shit!” I slapped my hand to my forehead.
“Hey, it's ok, it doesn’t mean that, you know, you're pregnant. It might be delayed from stress. A lot has happened since then. Exams, this, anniversary of your mom's death.” He was right, of course he was, he was always right. “Plus if you are, it’s fine, I’m not going anywhere and we’ll figure it out.” He held my hand, his thumb stroking across the back of it.
Finally we pull up at The War Zone. Eddie and I get instructed to wait in the RV that Steve has parked around the side of the store by the bins. Making sure the coast is clear I poke my head out of the RV door to have a quick look around. “Hey where are you going?” Eddie grabs my arm to pull me back inside.
“There’s a convenience store over there” I point to a run down looking building. “I could go grab a pregnancy test.”
“I’ll go.” Eddie tells me.
“Are you mad Munson?” I put my hand on his chest. “You’re a wanted man, sit the fuck down.” Eddie glares at me and slowly sits down, pulling out his wallet and handing me a few stray bills from it. I take them and run across to the store as quick as I can.
Keeping my head low while looking at the options of pregnancy tests I spot a car pulling up across the road. Its Jason's car. Shit! Frozen in disbelief I watch as him and his sheep pour out of it and enter The War Zone. Grabbing the nearest test, I quickly pay for it and run back to the RV.
Banging on the door for Eddie to let me in while frantically looking around panic is filling me. Why the fuck is Jason here? Did he follow us? Dustin opens the door to my surprised look. He wasn’t here when I left. Why was he here now. I look past him and Lucas is here too.
“Jasons here.” We tell each other in unison.
“I saw them walk in and I came to make sure you and Eddie were ok. What's that?” Dustin asks, pointing at the brown paper bag gripped in my right hand.
“Nothing, don’t worry, bigger shit to deal with right now.” I push past him to enter the RV.
Just as I take a seat next to Eddie, the others burst in. “We gotta go!”
“We know! Hurry!” Lucas exclaims.
Steve jumps into the drivers seat and Eddie slumps down so he can’t be seen from the windows. As we speed off we see Jason standing by his car holding a bag just like the others brought back to the RV. He had new weapons and ammo. This was not good.
Now we were out of sight of Jason and back on the road, Eddie straightened himself back up. Grabbing my hand and placing it in his lap he leans over and whispered to me “Did you get one?” I nod silently, tears filling my eyes. Eddie squeezes my hand to let me know that whatever the outcome he isn’t going anywhere.
“Hey Steve can you stop so I can go pee?” I shout.
“Y/N are you kidding? Could you not have gone when we were at The War Zone?”
“I didn’t need to then Harrington.” I answer back.
“Geeze, always the babysitter.” I can hear Steve sigh under his breath.
Pulling up next to woodlands, I jump out and start to run off into the woods, not realising that Nancy and Robin have followed as well. Turns out I wasn’t the only one who needed to go.
“What's in the bag Y/N?” Robin asks.
“Oh err, this, it’s a….it’s a test…” I trail off, not wanting them to judge me. I still didn’t know them well enough to know they wouldn’t make nasty comments.
“A test? A pregnancy test?” Nancy questions, shock on her face.
“Yeah…It’s just a precaution. I’m late. We didn’t realise until we were on our way to The War Zone.” I can hear my voice waiver, tears threatening to spill over.
“Hey, hey, don’t worry. We’re here.” Robin steps forward and stroke the top of my arm. Warmth fills me. These two were not judgemental at all, outcasts in their own way.
“Look, you aren’t going to find out anything without peeing on that stick.” Nancy smiles at me.
After peeing and managing to navigate the stream on the stick, I put the test into my pocket and we head back to the RV, Steve impatiently drumming his fingers on the steering wheel.
Taking my seat next to Eddie I smile at Robin and nod. Eddie looks a bit surprised as I seem a lot calmer than I did leaving the RV. “Everything ok sweetheart?” I smile at Eddie and nod. He puts his arm around my shoulders and squeezes me into a cuddle. I nuzzle my head into his neck. “So am I going to be a daddy?” he whispers so only I can hear him.
“Too soon to tell yet Munson, need to give it time to develop. Not like I can whip it out yet and check with everyone looking.” I whisper back to him.
Steve drives down the road until he finds a secluded field to pull up in so we can start making weapons to fight Vecna and defend ourselves from the monsters in the upside down.
I sit down on my own for a bit just taking everything in. Nancy and Max sawing the barrel off a shotgun, Lucas and his sister tying knives onto sticks, Eddie and Dustin hammering nails into trash can lids and Steve and Robin making molotovs.
I watch and take in everything. The weirdest sense of calm washing over me. Feeling guilty for being this happy in this moment. I have made friends for life with people I wouldn’t have spoken to previously, I am engaged to the love of my life, yet we were facing impending doom. I sit in silence a bit longer staring down at a stick that is going to tell me where my life is heading as soon as a flip it over. Will I be going down the route of young motherhood? A life full of struggles but with a man who has promised not to leave no matter how hard it gets. Or will I still be going down the path I planned for myself? Finishing high school, going to college, getting good grades so I can get a decent job. All my answers were on the other side of this stick. This damn stick I was too scared to turn over.
The silence was broken and I snapped back into reality as I watched Eddie tackle Dustin. Dustin taking a running dive at Eddie trying to knock him over. Smiles plastering their faces. I slowly get up, place the test into my back pocket without looking at it and make my way over to them.
“NO WEDGIES!” I hear Dustin scream at Eddie. I can’t help but smile as I watch them play fight. Suddenly Eddie grabs Dustin around the back of the neck and I can hear him tell Dustin. “Never change Henderson, you hear me?”
“Wasn’t planning on it.” Dustin responds
“Hey Sinclairs, how are those spears coming on?” Eddie shouts over to Lucas and Erica. Lucas signals all good with a thumbs up.
Eddie spots me walking over to him and a smile spreads across his face while it licks his bottom lip. “Hey you.” I say to Eddie as I reach him. He grabs me around the waist and tries to grab the pregnancy test from my back pocket. I stop his hand from taking it. “I still haven’t looked, I don’t know if I’m ready to know yet.” He looks at me with pouted lips and his puppy dog eyes. I raise an eyebrow and he slides his hand away.
Eddie and Dustin show me the shield  they’ve made for me and demonstrate how to use them. I can’t help but laugh as I watch them prance around and spring in the air. Eddie was a big kid himself, if I was pregnant he was going to make the best dad.
“It’s getting late, come on guys,” Steve ushers everyone back into the RV with our newly made weapons. Ready to face the dangers that lay before us.

Chapter 13
“Man, I am way too unfit for this.” I wheeze as we finally pull up outside Eddie’s trailer.
“I’ll have to give you a bigger workout later.” Eddie bites his lip.
“Eww gross stop it you two!” Robin whines. Eddie glances at the others then back at me and mouths `later’ and winks. Even when we are stuck in an alternate dimension, surrounded by things that can kill us, he’s still just a randy teenager. To be fair to him though seeing him protect me and making sure I’m ok has gotten me going all day. That look in his eyes just gets me going.
Stepping inside the trailer we can see immediately what Dustin means about a second gate. There above us is a glowing red hole. It looks as if it is sealed so we aren’t 100% sure how we are going to get through. “This is where Chrissy died, like exactly where she died.” Eddie’s voice shakes as he says this to us. I grab his hand and hold on tight, he lightly squeezes back to let me know that he is ok.
All of a sudden something pierces the skin of the hole which makes us all jump. White light floods through the gaping hole. We all start edging forward to look through. “No way” Steve says as Dustin's laugh fills the air.
“I’m going to tie sheets together and hopefully I can throw it through. I’m not quite sure how these physics are going to work but here goes nothing.” Dustin throws the sheets through the gate and it's like the sheets are grounded in the middle of the gate, hanging freely either side.
Lucas and Max slide Eddie's mattress beneath the gate so we all have a soft landing. “Those stains are…” Eddie starts and then gives me the side eye, seeing my face he trails off and looks at the others, “I don’t know what those stains are.” I shake my head in disbelief. Everyone knows exactly what those stains are and theres no way he can act dumb about it.
“Gross.” Robin mutters.
Steve looks kind of impressed and I’m sure his arm started to go up to high five Eddie before he caught my eye and decided against it. Eddie grabs me around the waist and pulls me in. Leaning down and whispering in my ear, “Sorry princess. Forgive me?” I nod silently without turning around. “Make some more stains later?” I can hear the grin in his voice. I slightly send my elbow back into his ribs and he lets out a dramatic offt. “I’ll take that as a yes.” He kisses me on the neck which sends shivers up my spine and he stands up straight.
“Ok so try climbing up the sheets like a ladder and we’ll see if it holds.” Shouts Dustin.
Robin grabs hold of the sheets and we boost her up. It seems to hold. “Guess I’m the guinea pig.” She slowly climbs up and then as she reaches the other side of the gate, falls on to the mattress. “That’s trippy!” she yells.
Eddie looks at me. “Eddie, you go first.” He nods and climbs up and falls onto the other side.
“That was fun, shit.” I follow quickly behind him and he helps me up. It was the weirdest experience ever.
Just Steve and Nancy left. “See you on the other side.” We heard them say to each other before Nancy started to climb. Something wasn’t right though. Nancy suddenly stood ridgid, her eyes flicked to the back of her head. Vecna. Vecna had gotten inside Nancy’s mind. Steve grabbed her shoulders and shouted her name, shaking her constantly.
“QUICKLY WE NEED MUSIC!” I shouted at the others. We instantly rush to Eddie's room to grab my walkman that I had left here previously and a bunch of tapes. Robin flicks through them dramatically, discarding songs and artists that she knows Nancy has never heard of.
“We need real music!” She shouts “We need Blondie, Bowie, Beetles. Music, we need music!”
“THIS IS MUSIC!” Eddie screams back shaking an Iron Maiden album in front of her.  Now really wasn’t the time to start an argument about real music.
We can hear Steve shouting to us. “It’s ok, she's awake.” We rush back to the gate and see Steve cradling Nancy telling her she's ok and that he's there with her.
Finally we manage to get Steve and Nancy out of the upside down back into the real world. Back to some sort of safety. We take her to my trailer where we know it is safe and know my dad is at work so we will not be caught.
“He showed me things that haven’t happened yet. The most awful things. I saw a dark cloud spreading over Hawkins. Downtown on fire. Dead soldiers. This giant creature with a gaping mouth and this creature wasn’t alone. So many monsters. An army and they were coming into Hawkins, into our neighbourhoods, our homes. And then he showed me my mom, Holly, Mike. They were all…” She trailed off, Steve grabs her hand to let her know it was ok.
“He’s just trying to scare you Nance. It’s not real.” Steve tells her, trying to calm her down.
“Not yet. There was something else. He showed me the gates. Four gates spreading across Hawkins. These gates looked like the one in Eddie's trailer. But these gates were different, they didn’t stop growing. This was upside down Hawkins. This was our Hawkins. Our home.” I grab onto Eddie and he slips his arms around me holding me tight. We are both scared. All not knowing what is going to happen.
“Four chimes.” Max says suddenly and we turn to face her. “Vecna’s clock. It always chimes four times. Four exactly.”
“I heard them too.” Nancy confirms.
“He’s been telling us his plan this whole time. Four gates. The end of the world.” I say quietly while receiving another squeeze from Eddie.
“If this is true, he’s only one kill away.” Dustin says.
“Jesus Christ.” Eddie bows his head into my shoulder.
Max goes and grabs the phone off the wall to try and get hold of Will, Mike and El in California. “The line is busy again. It rings and then the line drops. This has happened for what, 3 days now? There's something wrong.”
“She’s right, this can’t be a coincidence.” Nancy says. “It can’t be. Whatever is happening in Lenora has to be linked to this. Vecna can’t hurt them if he’s dead. We have to go back into the upside down.”
“Woah, woah, woah” Steve exclaims.
“Nope. Nope. Nope. Not happening Wheeler.” Eddie protests while waving his hands around.
“Let's think this through.” Steve gets up.
“What is there to think through?” Nancy is getting upset now as we have dismissed her plan so quickly without hearing her out.
“We barely made it out alive last time Nance!” Steve gestures to his wounds and points to her.
“We weren’t prepared. This time we will be. We will get weapons and protection. We will be ok and we will kill him!”
“Or he kills us. The only reason we made it out last time was because he wanted you too. He’s not scared of us.”
“And for good reason.” Robin stands up “We were wrong about Vecna…Henry...One…Sorry what are we calling him now?”
“Vecna”
“One.”
“Henry”
“Well that clears that one up.” I mumble. Eddie smirks at me. I’m so glad he’s here with me. How I left him so long to defend for himself I have no idea. He wouldn’t have done that to me if I was in his position. He would have stayed with me. I hated myself for leaving.
“Right, well we’ve learnt something new about Vecna/Henry/One. He’s a number like Eleven, just an evil, murderous, bad skin version. But my point is, he is super powerful, he could turn us inside out with a snap of his fingers! It's not a fair fight” Robin rambled on.
“Then why fight fair?” I ask
“Right, he’s like Eleven but that gives us an upper hand. We know Eleven's strengths and weaknesses. When El mind travels, she goes into a trance like state. Bet the same is true with Vecna.” Dustin says.
“That will explain what he was doing in the attic.” Lucas pipes up pointing his finger at Dustin.
“Exactly. When he attacks his next victim, I bet you he’s back in that attic. The physical body is defenceless.”
“Defenceless, yeah what about the army of bats?” Steve asks.
“Yeah, true, we’ll have to find a way past them. Distract them somehow.” Dustin starts to think.
“And how do we do that now?” Eddie asks, starting to stand up.
“No idea.” Dustin says and Eddie sits back down next to me. I place my hand on his leg, butterflies filling my stomach and look at him.
“But when they are gone, Vecna doesn’t stand a chance. It will be like slaying a sleeping dracula in his coffin.” Dustin adds.
“That’s all good in theory but there is no pattern to Vecna’s killings. We don’t know when he’s going to attack next or who he’s going to attack next.” Robin says so quickly. When she starts to get panicky her voice quickens with each word.
“We do.” Max says. “I can still feel him. Im’m still marked.”
“Max you can’t, he’ll kill you.” Lucas pleaded with her.
“I’ve survived once, I can do it again. Keep him distracted long enough so you guys can get into that attic and chop his head off, stab him in the heart, blow him up with some explosive that Dustin cooks up, I don't really care how you put this arse hole in his grave. Just whatever it is, whatever you do, try not to miss.”
We all sit around formulating a plan. I decide we all must be pretty hungry and go into the kitchen to get us snacks. Eddie follows behind me. “You don’t have to do this, you know.” He whispers in my ear while holding onto my hips.
“Do what?” I ask him, puzzled. He looks around and grabs my hand and pulls me into my bedroom and clicks the door shut quietly. .
“I don’t want you to think you need to go through with all of this to help me. Please stop feeling guilty about leaving me.” He sits on my bed and pulls me in front of him.
“How did you know I’m feeling guilty?” I ask him. He looks at me with a bit of a smirk.
“Sweetheart, I know you better than I know myself.” He pulls me in so I am straddling his lap. My knees rest on either side of his legs on the bed. He slowly kisses his way up my neck to underneath my chin. I close my eyes as pleasure hits me. I can feel his hands running up underneath my t-shirt, his fingers exploring every muscle in my back.
I snap back to remember what we were talking about. “I can’t help but feel bad. I should have been with you, especially when Jason could have killed you.” My eyes fill with tears as they lock with Eddie’s deep brown eyes. Eyes I could get lost in for hours.
“But he didn’t. You were off being a badass trying to save me.” He held my face in his hands. “I love you even more for what you did for me. For our friends. I couldn’t have done what you did. Please just stop being a badass now and let me protect you.”
“I’m coming with you back to the upside down.” I say in protest before he can tell me not too.
“I know but I wish you wouldn’t. My job is to make sure you’re ok and you make it really fucking hard sometimes.” He says with a grin plastered across his face. “You mean more to me than you could know. If I get through all of this and we can somehow prove I didn’t kill Chrissy, and as long as your dad is on board as well - let's face it, a smart guy wouldn’t let his daughter marry a man who apparently killed someone-” I cut him off in complete shock.
“I’m sorry, did I hear you right, marry?” my head was spinning.
“Shit, well yeah princess. Not exactly how I wanted it to come out.” He laughed. “I wasn’t lying when I said you were the love of my life.” He stroked my face and kissed me. “I had spoken to your dad before any of this happened and well yeah he gave his blessing but I mean I wouldn’t blame him if he decided differently now.” He started to rummage around in his jacket pocket. Out came a small box. A box I recognised. He slowly opened it and there it was, my mom's engagement ring. A ring I had tried on many times before. I was in complete shock. Never in a million years did I think I would be lucky to have this kind of love. A love that was mutually strong on both sides. We wanted the same things in life, and were prepared to be flexible for each other. I slowly slid off of Eddie’s lap and sat on the edge of my bed. My mouth dry, my eyes filled with tears and my hands shaking. Eddie stood and then slowly got down on one knee. “Y/N Y/L/N, will you do me the honour of making me the happiest fucking man alive? Will you marry me?” Eddie’s grin reached from one ear to the other, his eyes filling with tears as he presented me with my mom's engagement ring.
“Yes!” I say and throw my arms around his neck making him lose balance for a second. He regains balance and scoops me up into his arms as he stands. He spins me around and places me back down. Placing the ring on my finger he looks into my eyes. He places one hand around my waist and one hand on my face. Slowly he leans in to kiss me and wraps his arm around my waist pulling me in. Our deep kiss is passionate and loving. Everything we ever wanted was here now, in this moment. He lowers me onto my bed and climbs on top of me, our mouths not separating. His hips are slowly grinding against me and I can feel him growing harder. I break my lips away from his and slowly plant small kisses along his jawline and down his neck. He lets out a soft moan. I slowly push his shoulder and he rolls onto his back letting me take control. Straddling him now, I carry on kissing down his body, kissing his hellfire club t-shirt until I find a gap between it and his jeans that shows his flesh. I trace my fingers over his bare skin which makes him shudder.
“We really should go back to the others.” I suggest knowing it will wind him up more.
“Or just lock your fucking door.” He demands breathlessly. I do as I’m told and get up to lock the door. I can hear muffled talking from the others. They haven’t even realised that we are missing and are too busy making a plan.
As I turn back Eddie is scrambling to remove as many items of clothing as he possibly can, craving my touch. He is just in his boxer shorts now.  I raise an eyebrow at him and smirk. “Making it too easy for me, Munson.” I laugh.
“Shut up and get over here, future Mrs Munson.” My heart flutters and feels like it skips a beat. I shake my head in protest. He wasn’t in charge this time, I was. I slowly unbutton my jeans as I kick my trainers off, all while watching Eddie as he watches my every move. His eyes fixed on what my hands are doing. “Take your boxers off.” I demand and he doesn’t protest. He kicks them to the floor and props himself up on the headboard. I slip my jeans off and kick them to the side. Next I slowly take my t-shirt off so I’m just in my bra and panties. I’m very aware at how wet I am and I know he will be able to see this on my panties. “I want you to touch yourself.” I tell Eddie. His eyes fill with lust and he does what he is told. His hand wraps around his cock and starts to slowly move up and down. His eyes still haven’t broken away from staring at my body. I take a few steps forward and slide my panties off and unclasp my bra. I kneel on the edge of the bed and start to make my way forward to him. Eddie leans forward thinking this is his moment to have me. I hold my hand up to stop. “Did I tell you to stop?”
“Baby please I need you.” Eddie pleads with me, his cock throbbing.
“Did I fucking stutter?” I tease him. He does what he’s told and sits back, grabbing his cock in his hand again while biting his lip. His eyes dart all over my body. I slide my hand up and cup one of my breasts squeezing it ever so slightly. I then slide my hand down my torso. Eddie's eyes following it. I am loving this too much. I have so much control over him. My hand slowly slips between my legs and I touch my opening to get some of the wetness of my fingers. Eddie groans in delight. I make small circles on my clits and let out a moan of delight. I had never masturbated in front of Eddie before, only ever did it in my room while thinking of him but there was something powerful about this. Watching each other, just out of reach.
“Baby, come here please.” Eddie pleaded again and I inched forward a little bit. I wanted him too but there was something about this that got me even more excited. I wanted him to watch me for a bit longer. I wanted him to crave me more.
Finally it was too much for me to bear and I climbed on top of him. He grabs me and kisses me. Our tongues exploring each other's mouths like it was the first time we have kissed. His cock, needing no help, finds its way into me. I started bouncing up and down on him feeling the pleasure growing, letting out soft moans. “Shhh baby, you’ve got to be quiet.” Eddie whispered to me covering my mouth with his hand. He supports my lower back with his other hand and I start bouncing quicker. Both of us trying not to let out moans so we don’t get caught out.
“That’s it baby.” Eddie encourages me to keep going. He could tell I was going to cum soon. I could feel my face radiate heat as I carried on riding him. His cock hitting my G-spot every time. I start rocking backwards and forwards, my clit grinding against him, bringing me closer and closer. “Cum for me baby.” He demands. He is in control now. He controlled how fast I was going and how deep he was. “Cum for me now” and I did. A wave flashed through me sending me to shudder as I released my orgasm over him. I scream into the palm of his hand from the pleasure that washed over me. This man knew how to make me feel good. “Fuck, yeah sweetheart just like that.” He carried on thrusting into me as I neared the end of my orgasm. With this though my orgasm started building again. Getting fuller and fuller. My heart was racing as I started rocking backwards and forwards on his again. “Again so quickly? My pretty girl.” He purred. He knew my queues when I got close. My hands gripped onto his chest for support, my nails digging into his tattoos. This started sending him over the edge. “Fuck, I’m going to cum!” He winced breathlessly. We came together and flopped in on each other. Eddie cradling me.
Catching our breaths we slowly remembered what brought us to this point. Vecna, death, the upside down. Eddie enveloped me up in his arms and I wrapped my legs around his. We laid in silence just thinking about what was going to happen. What was going to happen to Hawkins, our friends, our family, to us. This couldn’t be the ending to our epic love story. We had just gotten engaged. We had our whole lives in front of us. Our life together.

Chapter 12
As I surface feeling disoriented, Robin and Nancy grab my arm to pull me up standing. Not far behind me Eddie joins me. As I help him up as well, I smile at him, “Welcome to the upside down cowboy.” He smiles at me with that wide toothy grin.
“Quick we haven’t got time, Eddie grab that other oar!” Shouts Nancy as we start to run over to all the commotion.
There are demobats pinning Steve down. Nancy smacks one flying. “Hi there.” She says to Steve and relief washes over him. He knows we are here to save him. Robin and I kick and stamp on demobats as Nancy and Eddie smash the others with the oars as they approach. One latches onto Nancy which Robin manages to free off from her neck and smashes it into the ground by its tail. Nancy then steps on its neck and plunges the oar hard down repeatedly into its head.
The one around Steve’s neck is more stubborn and not giving up yet. I wrestle with it trying to loosen its grip. Finally Steve and I manage to free his neck. The demobat tries to fly but Steve has grabbed it by the tail and wrestles it. He wants revenge on it for almost killing him.
Eddie has managed to break the oar but uses the broken wood to spear a demobat in the throat as it tries to swoop down on him.
Steve swings the demobath round, smashing it hard on the ground twice. I then put my foot on its neck and Steve pulls hard on its tail. It’s head separating from its body.
“JESUS H CHRIST!” Screams Eddie making his way over to me to make sure I’m ok. A few scratches but nothing serious. Steve on the other hand is a bit worse for wear but Nancy and Robin are tending to his wounds.
“What the actual fuck is this place?” I hold on to Eddie as I turn to the others.
“This, this is the upside down. Those were nothing. There are bigger things in here that will want to kill you.” Steve winced.
More bats are starting to fly towards us. They land on the ground and start and start screeching at us.
“There’s not that many, we can take them right?” I look at Steve as he says this and then back at the red flashing sky. Hundreds of more bats are heading our way. I grab tightly onto Eddie’s arm, frozen in fear.
“The woods! Come on!” Shouts Nancy. We sprint for cover, Eddie practically dragging me along making sure I don’t get left behind.
We take cover under the upside downs version of skull rock. Eddie cradling me, protecting me until finally the coast is clear. Steve is in a bad way and starts to get pretty faint. His wounds are pretty bad. Nancy starts ripping at her top to make some makeshift bandages. “You ready for this Harrington?” I ask knowing that Nancy needs to put it on tight to stop the bleeding. He grips my hand tight.
Eddie in the meantime has climbed on top of skull rock to get a better view of our surroundings. “So this place is like Hawkins but with monsters and nasty shit?”
“Basically yeah.” Replies Nancy “Watch out for the vines, it's all a hive mind, they’re all connected.”
“So everything is still here except for people right?” I ask.
“Pretty much.” Robin says.
“So we could go to the police station and take guns and grenades and whatever to blow up the nasty shit?” I ask while watching Eddie struggle to get down from the rock now he knows about the vines.
“I highly doubt Hawkins PD has grenades but guns yeah.” Steve says.
“I see your sarcasm hasn’t faded Harrington” I smile at him.
“We don’t have to go all the way downtown for guns. I have guns in my bedroom.” Nancy informs us.
“You, Nancy Wheeler, have guns - plural - in your bedroom?” Eddie asks, wide eyed in disbelief.
“Full of surprises isn’t she.” Robin adds.
“A Russian Makarov and a revolver.” Nancy replies.
“Yeah, you almost shot me with that one.” Steve looks at Nancy.
“Yeah and you almost deserved it.” She stares back at him and their eyes lock. I nudge Eddie and smirk up at him. Eddie takes off his denim jacket and chucks it at Steve making them break their eye contact.
“For your modesty dude.” Eddie winks at Steve. The ground shakes like an earthquake hits. Steve grabs onto Nancy and Robin and I lose my balance and tumble to the ground, Eddie right behind me grabbing onto me to make sure I’m not hurt. Screeching in the distance as we look around at the vast emptiness of the woods.
“Yeah so guns sound like a pretty good idea to me.” Eddie breaks the silence.
“Yeah me too.” Says Robin. “So what are we waiting for?” Steve starts to stride off to the direction of the wheeler's house.
“Come on sweetheart.” Eddie offers his hand to me to help me stand.
I watch Robin and Nancy walk ahead. Steve has joined me and Eddie at the back. It's a hard task watching your step trying to miss the vines.
“Hey Eddie, I just want to say thanks for saving my ass back there.” Steve says to Eddie.
“Shit man you saved your own ass back there. I mean that was a real Ozzy move back there.” Steve looks at Eddie blankly, not understanding.
“Ozzy Osborne, he took a bite out of a bat.” I try to explain.
“Black Sabbath? It’s very metal what you did, that's all I’m saying.” Eddie said to Steve.
“Thanks.” Steve replies, confusion still filling his face.
“Henderson told me you were a badass, insisted on it.” Eddie tells Steve.
“Wait, Henderson said that?” Questions Steve.
“Oh yeah. That kid worships you dude. Like you have no idea. It's kind of annoying. I don’t usually care about stuff like that but I guess I got kinda a little jealous.” Admitted Eddie.
“He got very jealous.” I add, Eddie nudges me in the ribs with his elbow.
“I just guess I couldn’t accept that Steve ‘the hair’ Harrington was actually a good dude. Rich parents, popular, chicks love him, not a douche. No way man, that's like flies in the face of the universe and my own personal Munson doctrine. Still super jealous by the way.” We all laugh at this. Eddie can be so dramatic, a real showman. “Which is why I would never jump in the lake to save your ass. I came in for my girl.” He slides his hand around my waist and pulls me in resting his head on my shoulder. “Outside of D & D I’m no hero, I turn and run. Or at least that’s what I’ve learnt about myself this week. If it wasn’t for this one, I would still be in the real Hawkins, probably having my ass hurled into jail. It's the ladies you need to thank, especially Wheeler. She didn’t waste a second. She just dove right in. I don’t know what happened between you two, but if I were you, I would get her back.” Eddie has stopped Steve in his path with what he has just said. “‘Cause that was as unambiguous a sign of true love these cynical eyes have ever seen.” He looks at Steve and puts his hands on Steve’s shoulders and pats them.
Another earthquake ripples through the woods. Eddie grabs me so I don’t fall. Nancy starts running ahead and stops in a clearing until we catch up with her. The Wheeler's house is right there, in reaching distance. “Come on.” Nancy says and strides on.
*
Finally inside the house, there are vines everywhere in here as well. “Come on, I don’t want to stay here longer than we have too.” Nancy, Robin and Eddie run up the stairs to Nancy’s room. Steve and I stop on the stairs distracted by what sounds like Dustin's voice.
“Do you hear that?” I turn to Steve, he nods.
We slowly make our way back down the stairs trying to pinpoint where exactly the sound is coming from while the others are getting the guns.
Steve suddenly starts shouting “DUSTIN, HELLO?”
“Jesus Steve, keep it the fuck down!” I hiss at him.
“HELLO!!!”
Nancy, Robin and Eddie come running down the stairs to join us. “Maybe he really does have rabies from the bats.” Robin says.
“That little shit is here, in the walls or something, just listen.” Steve says so quickly I don’t think anyone could really process it quickly enough.
Nothing at first but then Dustin's voice starts floating through the room. He doesn’t respond as we start shouting his name.
“Either he can’t hear us or he is just being a douche.” I say.
“Will found a way to communicate through the lights.” Nancy says.  She starts flicking lights on and off. Steve looks around and notices the light in the middle of the room is glowing.
“Guys, look. You seeing this?” We slowly walk up to it. Nancy reaches up and starts to push the orange like dust around. We all start putting our hands to it. Feeling the energy.
“It tickles.” Steve says. We all smile, not really being able to explain the feeling it gives us.
“Does anyone know morse code?” Asks Nancy.
We look from one another pretty blank. We were all smart in our own way but morse code was a bit out of our depth. “Wait, does S.O.S count?” Asks Eddie. I roll my eyes at him. He was as dense as Steve sometimes.
“Of course it counts Eddie!” He shrugs at me not really understanding what he said was a bit stupid.
Eddie starts to put S.O.S into the light hoping it will gain Dustin's attention.”It’s working” whispers Robin. We have their attention.
Dustin shouted that we needed to go and wait in Nancy’s room and he was going to fill the Lite Brite -  a toy that was Nancy’s little sister’s - and we would be able to send messages back through light.
“This feels really crazy.” Eddie whispers to me.
“Any crazier than the upside down?” I smile at him. It was all so bazaar, like we were stuck in a weird dream. Perhaps it was? Maybe we had smoked way too much weed and I was now comatosed in Eddie’s bed. Wishful thinking.
“You guys see this?” Shouted Dustin. Slowly Nancy danced her fingers in the light. “Hold on, we are going to unplug it. Try it now” She spelt ‘Hi’. “It works!” Dustin screams excitedly.
STUCK. GATE GUARDED. “We have a theory! There is another gate. A gate where every Vecna related murder has happened.” We turn to Eddie. Fear flooding his face realising we would have to go back to the scene where he watched Chrissy break.
“My trailer is on the other side of Hawkins, it will take hours on foot.” Eddie stutters.
“Nancy, do you have bikes? We will get there a lot quicker.” I ask.
“Quick, let's go!”
Eddie grabs my hand and pulled me back from the others. “Hey, what’s up Eds?” I’m concerned with the look on his face as he holds my arm.
“I..I don’t want anything to happen to you. If for any reason any of those bat things chase after us, keep cycling, I’ll hold them off so you can get to safety.”
“Like fuck you will Munson, I’m not leaving you anymore remember? That includes in the upside down. Now get a move on sweet cheeks!” I kiss him hard on the lips and drag him down to the garage to meet the others.

Chapter 11
Nancy is driving back to Reefer Rick’s with the supplies Eddie had requested, including the 6 pack of beer. I had grabbed him some Marlboro reds as well as I imagined he would be either running low or completely out seeing as he smoked more when he was stressing about something. The closer we got the more butterflies appeared in my stomach. I was about to see my love again, hoping he wasn’t going to be too pissed off with me when we explained why we weren’t back sooner.
“Oh shit.” Nancy says as we are about to pull up at the house. All of our heads snap forward and see what I had been fearing. Swarms of cops and news crews.
Jumping out the car we make our way round the back of a news van and listen to the interview that is being given by the chief. “A homicide that has been reported by the lake. Officer Callaghan and myself arrived on the scene. We made our way to the shore of lovers lake, about 10 yards from the house you see behind me. It was there we found the victim, 18-year old senior from Hawkins High.” My heart dropped. Please don’t say Edward Munson. “Patrick McKinney.” In unison we looked at Lucas who stared at the ground trying to process what he heard. “His limbs, his body were disfigured. There was an eye witness on the scene. We have also identified a person of interest - Eddie Munson.” My blood ran cold.
“Oh man. This is not good, this is really not good.” Steve spoke, breaking the silence between us all.
Dustin's cerebro crackles. “Dustin, can you hear me? Wheeler? Y/N?” It’s Eddie.
“Eddie, holy shit are you ok?” Dustin asks. There's a brief pause. I can just imagine Eddie running his hands over his face.
“No man, pretty god damn far from ok.”
I take the cerebro. “Babe where are you?” my heart is beating out of my chest. I need to be with him. I should have come back yesterday before we went to the Creel’s house to find Vecna. At least I would know if he was ok then.
“Skull rock. Our place, remember?” How could I forget? It was one of the many places we would find ourselves when trying to escape from school.
“Hold tight, we’re coming. I love you.”
I don’t wait for an answer back before running back to the car.
*
“Dude, I’m telling you, you’re sending us the wrong way.” I say to Dustin and Steve agrees. We had to park in a different location from where Eddie usually did just in case anyone had been looking for us. We didn’t want to make it obvious where we were going.
“It’s North, I’m positive, I checked the map. Look.” He shows me his compass.
“You do realise Skull Rock, it's a super popular make-out spot?” We stop and look at Steve.
“Yeah so?” I question.
“Yeah, well, it wasn't popular until I made it popular.” He replied.
“Right? Do you want an award for that?”
“We’re going in the wrong direction.” He turns left and starts walking down a steep bank.
“Steve, where are you going?” Dustin calls after him. “Stop whining, just come on, trust me.” I look at Dustin, shrug and follow Steve down the bank.
Finally we could see it after climbing through a bush. Skull rock. Steve had actually managed to take us in the right direction.
“Boom in your cocky little face Henderson.” Steve called over his shoulder.
“It doesn’t make sense.” Dustin was baffled.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Even when it's there staring you right in the face, you can’t admit it. You just can’t admit that you were wrong you little butthead” Steve gloats.
Something drops down on the leaves making us jump and turn around.
“I concur.” It's Eddie. “You, Dustin Henderson, are a total butthead.”
“Jesus, we thought you were a goner.” Dustin says as relieved as I am and goes to hug Eddie.
Eddie returns the hug.
“Yeah me too man, me too.” Eddie pats Dustin on the shoulder then straightens himself as the others join us and he catches my eye. “You left me again.” He says. “You said you wouldn’t leave me.” He looks hurt.
“She has a good reason.” Steve comes to my defence.
*
After sitting down with Eddie and explaining everything that had happened he understood why I got so held up coming back to him. He held my hands in his as I explained every little detail of how we almost lost Max, finding Vecna’s hideout and then coming back to Reefer Ricks house to find it was another murder scene. “Eddie, I thought they had killed you. I thought Jason and his sheep had found you and killed you.” I looked into his eyes. There was so much trauma in them. Having to relive every moment. Another person he saw fly up into the air, their bones snapping. Jason saw everything and still believed Eddie was to blame.
“I tried to call you guys after it all happened. My walkie was busted. Drenched from where I fell into the lake. So I did the thing that I do now apparently. I ran.” He smirked while he kneeled down taking a drink of water.
“Do you know what time this was? The attack?” Asked Nancy.
“Yeah, I know exactly what time it was.” He said, taking off his watch. “My walkie wasn’t the only thing that got soaked.” He threw his watch to Nancy for her to see.
“9:27” she read aloud.
“Same time our flash lights went kaplewey” Robin confirmed.
“Which means what exactly?” questioned Steve. He really was as dense as he looked.
“It means that the surge of energy was Vecna attacking Patrick.” I told him.
Dustin was pacing up and down at his compass.
“So we know where he is, now we just need to sneak into the upside down and drive a stake through his heart.” Says Max.
“Is he a vampire?” Steve asks. Max and I look at each other rolling our eyes both thinking the same thing.
“It’s a metaphor.” Max scoffs.
“Bullets should work on him right?” Eddie chimes in.
“I say chop his head off.” Lucas puts his option into the mix.
“I say all of the above but we need a way into the upside down, which is impossible without El and her powers.” Nancy says.
“Hey Henderson isn’t cursed is he?” Eddie asks as he catches Dustin pacing as well now.
“BOOM!” Dustin shouts. “I was right. Skull rock was north.”
“You’re serious? That's what has been going on in your head while we are all discussing how to destroy Vecna?” Annoyance in Steve’s voice rises with every word. “This is skull rock. You are 100% wrong.”
“Yes and no” Steve's hands shoot to his face in anger as Dustin says this. “This compass worked correctly before. It started to slip the further East we went. Now it's way off. When I was leading us here, I wasn’t wrong, the compass was.”
“Dude you’re using faulty equipment, you’re still wrong.” Steve is still getting angry.
“But it isn’t faulty. Lucas, do you remember what can affect a compass?” Dustin turns to Lucas.
“An electromagnetic field” Lucas confirms. Dustin turns back to Steve.
“In the presence of a stronger electromagnetic field, the needle will deflect towards that power. So either there’s either some super big magnet around here or..” Lucas stops Dustin and finishes his sentence.
“There’s a gate.” Dustin points to Lucas and smiles.
“But we’re nowhere near the lab.” I say.
“But what if somehow there is another gate? One that we don’t know about. All I know is that something is causing this disturbance and the last time we saw anything like it, it was a gate. I hope it is as then we have a way into the upside down, stopping Vecna and freeing Max from this curse.” Dustin starts to walk off.
“Eddie is still a wanted man, we can't just go for a hike in the woods.” Steve calls after him.
“This little capsule might be the key for freeing Eddie and Max. What say you, Eddie the banished.” We all turn to look at Eddie.
“You are asking me to follow you into Mordor, which if I’m totally straight with you, I think is a really bad idea. But errr - The shire is burning.” Dustin starts hopping up and down. Everyone else looks around confused, not understanding. I know exactly what he is going to say next. It is crazy. “So Mordor it is.” He gets up and makes his way across to Dustin, grabbing my hand to pull me along with him.
“What is Mordor.” mutters Steve.
*
Walking along, Eddie and I hang back from the rest. I reach into my back pocket and grab the pack of cigarettes I bought for him. “Thought you might need some.” I nudge his arm and hand him the pack. He smiles at me and pulls an old soggy box from his jeans.
“Thanks sweetheart.” Eddie smiles grabbing a cigarette from the pack and offering me one as well. I take it from him and light it.
“Eddie, why do you have a really old box that you just transfer new cigarettes into?” I had always wondered this but never asked.
He gave me a side smile. “You see this ruined, tatty box. The love of my life handed me this box before we knew each other. It's been part of me since meeting her a few months ago.” My heart filled with love. “But yeah, bit waterlogged now. I’m hoping it dries out.”  He placed his arm around my shoulders and gave me a squeeze and kissed the side of my head. My hair sticking to the stubble on his chin as he pulled away. “So now you’ve experienced some of Vecna’s curse, you believe me right?” Eddie asked.
I stopped in my tracks which caught him by surprise. “Eddie, do you think I didn’t believe you?” I questioned him.
“It was pretty far-fetched, I wouldn’t have blamed you for not believing me. I thought that was why you didn’t come back to be with me” He pulled my arm to keep me walking so we wouldn’t fall too far behind the others. “Thank you though.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t come back sooner. I was planning too but things kept happening…” I trailed off. I don’t know how many times I had to explain myself. I felt guilty for leaving him.
“Baby, don’t beat yourself up. You did right by Max. You went and tried to find a way to stop Vecna. You didn’t run away like I did.” Eddie had stopped now, wrapping me up in his arms.
I look up at him and kiss him. He takes my face in his hands. “My hero” He whispers, smiles and kisses me back.
“Will you two get your step on?” Shouts Steve from the front.
“I haven’t got anything to worry about with you and Harrington do I?” He looks down, smirking at me.
“Shut up Munson.” I playfully hit him on the chest and pull at his arm to make him start walking again.
*
Hours pass and nightfall hits, darkness looming around us, blindly following Dustin. “Something’s happening.” We hear Dustin shreak and he starts running.
“Dustin, will you slow down? Dustin!” Eddie shouts after him, picking his pace until he's in a run as well.
“I think we’re getting close.” Dustin calls back over his shoulder. Eddie puts his hand out in front to stop Dustin going any further.
“Watch your step big guy.” Eddie manages to halt Dustin just before he falls into the lake.
“Ah man, you gotta be shitting me.” Steve exhales breathlessly.
“Yup, I thought these woods looked familiar.” Eddie said.
“Lovers Lake.” I confirmed.
We all looked out onto the lake. Moonlight hitting the surface, illuminating the still water.
“This is confounding.” Dusting says looking out. “Every time the demogorgons attacked, they left an opening. Maybe Vecna is the same? “
“Only one way to find out.” I say striding to the boat by the shore. Eddie tries to stop me. “Like fuck am I leaving you again Eddie. I know you’re going to go out in this boat, and so am I.” He doesn’t argue after I give him that look. The look he’s seen in arguments he hasn’t won between us.
He helps me into the boat, Nancy and Robin climb in after me. Steve stops Dustin in his tracks. “Hey hey hey, you trying to sink us?” Eddie asks Dustin. “This thing holds like 4 people tops.”
“You guys stay here and look after Max.” Nancy says to Dustin.
“You look after Max, it’s my theory.” Dustin exclaims.
“Listen to Nance.” Robin says.
“Who put her in charge?”
“I did. Compass.” Robin holds her hand out.
Steve starts pushing the boat out onto the lake and jumps in at the last second.
“You said 4!” Dustin calls after us.
“Sorry” mouths Steve.
“Bedtime at 9 kiddos, miss you already!” I shout to the shore. Eddie squeezes my hand. He knows that I make jokes when I’m nervous.
Nearing the middle of the lake the compass starts to spin constantly. “Woah, woah, woah, slow down guys.” Nancy says.
The cerebro crackles - Dustin's voice echos. “What's going on guys?”
“Dustin your compass has gone wonky to wonky with a capital arghh” Says Robin.
Steve stands up and starts stripping off.
“Errghh Steve what are you doing?” I question him not really knowing where to look.
“Someones gotta go down there and check this thing out.” He replies, throwing his jumper down in the bottom of the boat. “Someone needs to top off the swim co-captain and 3 years of lifeguard training if they want to stop me. No complaints.”
“Hey I’m not complaining, I do not wanna go down there.” Eddie says. He wasn’t the bravest but after what he saw happen with Patrick, I didn’t blame him. While Steve is kicking off his shoes, Eddie wraps a flash light in a plastic bag and hands it to Steve.  “Good luck.”
“Thanks,” Steve replies, getting ready to jump off the boat.
Nancy interrupts before he jumps, “Steve, be careful.” He nods back at her, turns back around and he disappears into the blackness of the water.
Moments pass. “Where are we at Wheeler?” I ask.
“Closing in on a minute.” We breathe heavily, searching around for any sign he’s on his way up.
The water surface breaks and Steve gasps for air. “I found it!” Robin radios back to Dustin to tell him what Steve had found.
“Its more of a snack sized gate than a mama gate.” He’s resting his arms on the boat, preparing to get back in. Something pulls him under for a second. Horror on his face as he resurfaces. He looks around, before anyone can say anything he’s pulled back under.
“Steve!” We all shout in unison rising to our feet. He’s not come back up.
“What the hell was that man?! “ Eddie shouts. Nancy goes to jump. “Wait you’re not going in there are you?!” Eddie questions her.
“Just wait here!” She jumps in after Steve.
“Wait Nancy stop.” I shout. It’s too late. She's gone. I look at Robin and Eddie.
Robin sits on the edge of the boat. “no , no, no she said wait, you’re not going in there.” I grab Robin's arm. “She’s in charge.”
“Are you kidding me? I made that shit up!” She holds her nose and falls backwards into the lake.
“Do not even think about going in there Y/N!” Eddie looks at me. He knows what I’m thinking before I do.
“I have too, Eddie, they’re our friends and we need to make sure they’re ok. Stay here, I love you.” I kiss him and dive in after Robin. I don’t exactly know where I’m going until I see a red glowing light.
Following Robin's shadow I start swimming hard towards it, not knowing where it leads to. Not knowing if Eddie was still on the boat, swearing about how I’ve left him again, throwing one of his Eddie tantrums when he hasn’t gotten his own way. Not knowing if I will ever resurface.

Chapter 10
“Hey Dustin, it’s Eddie the banished here - Hey Dustin can you hear me?” I sit bolt up right. We had all crashed from exhaustion in Nancy’s basement. The sound of Eddie’s voice over the cerebro filled my ears. I thought I had been dreaming at first but his voice kept flowing through the silence. “Earth to Dustin.”
I grab the cerebro from the table and answer him. “Hey it’s me.”
“Y/N! Hey erm, I’m going to need a food delivery real soon unless you want me going out into the world.” He sounds pissed off like we’ve forgotten him.
“No course not.  Don’t do that. Just stay where you are and we’ll be there as soon as we can.”
“OK. Hey could you pick me up a 6 pack. I know it’s stupid as shit drinking right now in a time like this but a nice cold beer would really calm my jangling nerves-”
I cut him off as I look around the basement and realise Max isn’t where she fell asleep. “I’m going to have to call you back.” I say hurriedly and cut him off before he can say anything else. I felt bad but right now I knew Eddie was safe, I didn’t know where Max was.
I run over to Dustin and shake him awake. “Aren’t you meant to be on Max watch?”
“ Yup, yup, yup I am” He says bleary eyed, rubbing his face.
“Ok so where is she?” I shout. It turns out he dozed off for an hour. We run upstairs to the kitchen where we can smell pancakes being made by Nancy’s mom.
Max is there at the kitchen table, listening to Kate Bush for the 100th time since yesterdays events. I sit next down to her and she switches off the walkman.
“Hey” she softly says to me.
“Hey. You ok?” A pointless question, of course she wasn’t ok.
“Couldn’t sleep. People kept blasting music in my ears for some reason.” She smirks at me. “Holly let me borrow some of her crayons.” She nods to Nancy and Mike’s little sister. “We’ve been having a fun morning haven’t we.” Holly nods and hums in agreement.
I look down at the drawings Max has done. “Are these what you saw last night?” I ask.
“It’s supposed to be. I thought it would be easier than explaining. Well it was supposed to be.” She replies. I pull forward a picture of two spikes from the ground with bodies in. “Is that..” I don’t even get to finish my question before Max is answering me.
“It’s like they were on display or something. With red fog everywhere. Like a dream. A nightmare.”
“Do you think Vecna is just trying to scare you?”
“With Billy, yeah. But why here, he seemed surprised that I was there.”
Dustin sat down opposite us “Maybe you infiltrated his mind. He took control of your mind, is it that big of a leap to suggest that you somehow ended up in his? What if you somehow unlocked a back door to Vecna’s mind? Like somehow the answer is here in these super vague drawings? Damn we need Will”
“Yeah no shit. I tried them again this morning.” Says Max.
I look down at the picture Dustin has just placed back on the table as Nancy joins us. “Wait is this a window?” Questions Nancy. “Yeah.” Responds Max.
“Stained glass with roses?” I add
“Yeah, see I’m not so bad at drawing.” She jokes to Dustin.
“Well it helps that I’ve seen it before.” Nancy says as she starts to fold papers and tries to jigsaw them together. We get a basic shape and I grab a black marker pen and trace around the outside of a house.
“It’s Victor Creels house.” She stands up.
“Where are you going?” Questions Dustin.
“To wake the others.” She leaves without saying another words and we follow quickly behind her.
*
We all skid to a halt in Nancy's car outside the Creels house.
This was it. The same shape that I had drawn out on the pieces of paper. The house was completely boarded up. Abandoned since that fateful night in the 50’s when Victor watched his own family snap, twist and pop.
Armed with hammers and crowbars we start to pull the nails out of the board covering the front door.
“What exactly are we meant to be looking for in this shit hole?” Whines Steve.
“Not sure” Nancy replies. “We just know that this house is important to Vecna.”
“Because Max saw it in Vecna’s red soup mind world?”
“Maybe it will hold a clue to where Vecna is.” Dustin adds. “Why he’s back. Why he killed the Creels. How to stop him before he comes back for Max.”
I stop and ask the question that has popped into everyone's head suddenly. “We don’t think he’s in here…do we?”
“I guess we’re about to find out.” Max pipes up.
The last nail drops and we let the board drop to the floor. Its there. The stained glass window from Max’s drawing.
“Shall I knock?” Steve asks.
“No need.” Robin is standing there with a brick in her right hand. “I found a key.” she smirks and propels it through the stained glass window. Steve reaches in and unlocks the door from the inside.
The old dark dusty house stood in darkness. “I guess someone forgot to pay their electric bill” joked Lucas. Dustin whips out his flashlight and switches it on.
“Where did we get those?” questions Steve. Dustin and I look at each other and then back to Steve.
“Do you need to be told everything?” I ask “You’re not a child.”
“Back pocket” Dustin says to Steve, handing him his backpack. Moodily he takes out the flashlight and dumps the backpack down.
Robin and Nancy make their way into the living room. I can hear them say about how everything had been left.
“Hey guys, you all see that right?” Max asks, shining her flashlight onto an old grandfather clock. The clock she had been seeing in her visions. The one that only she saw in the hallway of the school.
“I mean its just a clock right?” I step up to it and wipe the dust from the glass. “Just an old clock.”
“Why is this wizard obsessed with clocks?” Steve wonders. “Maybe he’s a clock maker or something?”
“Think you cracked the case Steve.” Dustin sarcastically says.
“All I know is the answers are here, somewhere.” Nancy looks around. “Stay in groups, we’ll spread out.”  Nancy and Robin go off together and Max and Lucas go off in a different direction, leaving myself, Dustin and Steve.
“Three stooges together again.” I joke to try and lighten the mood. Dustin smiles and Steve sighs and walks off.
“Why did you sigh?” Dustin questions.
“I didn’t sigh, just come on.” Steve responds as walking up the stairs.
“I heard you.”
“We’re just always stuck together.” Steve responds.
“Have you got a problem with that?” I ask.
“It would be nice, I don’t know, to mix it up a bit.” He huffs.
“What, so you can be with Nance?” Dustin teases.
Upstairs seems to be in worse condition than downstairs. Spider webs hanging thickly from every surface. My skin shudders as I accidentally walk through one hanging in a doorway.
“Hey Henderson, can you maybe clarify what sort of clues we’re meant to be looking for?” Steve wonders.
“The world is full of obvious things, which nobody by any chance ever observes.” Dustin puts on his best british accent. Steve stares blankly back at him. “Sherlock Holmes.” Dustin scoffs and walks in the opposite direction into a side room from the hallway leaving Steve to process.
“That’s great. Thanks, that's great, really helpful.” He finally replies. I look at him and he shakes his head.
Seeing a grate on the ground, Steve pulls it up after seeing something glistening. Finding glass jars in the grate, he picks one up to inspect it. You stare over his shoulder. Mummified corpses of old spiders fill the jars. Forgotten pets perhaps? A spider scurries up Steve's shoulder. You jump back, making him drop the jar and flashlight. Glass shatters everywhere as he dances to get the spider off of him. We run into the hall again. “It's a black widow.” He breathly says as he backs out into the hallway in front of Nancy who has come to see what all the commotion was about. He slams the door shut. “Don’t go in there.”
“Hold still you have a web in your hair.” Nancy says and grabs his shoulder to keep him from moving.
“If there's a spider in that hair, you’re not going to know until it lays eggs and all the spider babies crawl out.” Sniggers Robin. I can’t help but laugh.
“What is wrong with you? Robin seriously? She’s got problems.” Steve says to Nancy. “It’s cool that you two are friends now. Maybe after we find Vecna, kill him, save the world and stuff, we can all go out or something, maybe Jonathan when he’s back. Not like a double date or anything. Robin and I are just friends, she told you right?” Steve fumbled.
“Platonic with a capital P.” Says Robin. I walk off to stand next Robin so Steve can carry on embarrassing himself on his own. I roll my eyes at Robin and she laughs. Everyone can see that Steve is still into Nancy except for Steve and Nancy.
After a few minutes, Max and Lucas come running to find the rest of us. “The lights.”
We are standing around a chandelier in the foyer watching it flicker. “It’s like the Christmas lights.” whispers Nancy.
“Christmas lights?” I question.
“When Will was in the upside down, the Christmas lights came to life.” she replied in hushed tones.
“Vecna’s here.” Lucas says, not taking his eyes from the chandelier. “In this house. Just on the other side.” The lights stop flickering and we drop into darkness again.
“I think he just left the room.” Robin says.
“Does he know we’re here? Did he hear us?” Max looks around at the rest of us, panic filling her face.
“Can he see us?” Steve looking around the room for any signs of Vecna.
“Headphones” Lucas tells Max
“Wait, everyone turn off your flash lights. Spread out.” I command them and they do just that.
We walk slowly and quietly around the house.
“I GOT HIM!” we all rush to Robin just as her flashlight goes out. “Well I had him.”
Steve’s flash light suddenly flickers on. “He’s moving, he’s moving” Steve is shaking. We follow Steve and the flash light up the stairs. It suddenly stops. “Shit.” mutters Steve “I lost him.”
“No you didn’t” Max pushes past us and opens a door to the attic where we can see the light at the top flickering.
“Guys hold up what if he’s leading us into a trap!” Dustin stutters. We all ignore him and climb up the stairs slowly into the attic.
We stop and stare at the light. All of our flashlights are now humming to the pulse of energy. We had found Vecna. All of a sudden a surge of energy happened. The bulbs of the flash lights started exploding. Covering our faces shielding ourselves from the glass throwing down the flashlights. Then the bulb in the attic exploded leaving us in darkness. What happened? What caused the enormous amount of energy? What had Vecna done?

Chapter 9 Starting Life in Hawkins

Warning - Swearing, very much sticking to script in this one as a gap filler. Can't change too much seeing as this is how we find more info about Vecna and Max's links to Chrissy and Fred

Chapter 9
“It was here. It was right here.” Max points at the wall of the corridor. Nancy and Robin had finally gotten to the school and we were all standing staring at the empty wall behind Max.
“A grandfather clock?” I ask. Max nods.
“It was so real. As I got closer, I suddenly woke up.”
In that room when Max went into a trance, we couldn’t get her to respond to us. We were shaking her and screaming her name. It was like what Eddie had said that happened to Chrissy.
We walked back into Ms Kelly’s office. Max explained to us what she had noticed between the similarities between Chrissy and Fred’s files. How they kept getting really bad headaches, and they kept having visions of past traumas. These visions kept getting worse and worse until eventually it ended. Vecna’s curse.
Max was close to tears. “Chrissy’s headaches started 7 days ago. Fred 6 days ago.” She started to trail off. “I’ve been having headaches for 5 days now. I don’t know how long I have. All I know is Chrissy and Fred died less than 24 hours after their first vision and I just saw that god damn clock so looks like I’m going to die tomorrow.” She waved her hands in the air, trying to be strong and fight back tears.
A noise from the hallway broke the silence. Steve grabbed a lamp as a weapon and we all slowly walked into the hallway to investigate. The sound was getting louder. Suddenly, Lucas appeared almost getting hit with the lamp as Steve swung it.
“AHHHHHH” We all screamed.
“It's me! It’s me!” Lucas pleaded with arms in the air.
“Jesus Christ Sinclair! What are you doing?! I almost took you out with this thing!” Steve shouted while pointing at the lamp.
“I was biking for 8 miles…trying to get here…one sec. Shit” Lucas was out of breath, exhausted, trying to compose himself to explain. “We’ve got a code red.”
I was shaking after Lucas explained how Jason and his gang were hunting Eddie. He explained how he gave them a false location to search and how he hoped to have bought some time. Eddie was in trouble. If they found him they were going to tear him from limb to limb. They never liked him and Jason was a cruel jerk who was going insane with grief.
We made our way back to Nancy’s house to have a look at what her and Robin had found at the library. An article about Victor Creel. From the story his family had died in similar circumstances to Chrissy and Fred. Victor was the only known survivor. He was the only one who would know how to beat this curse.
“If El opened the gate, how did Vecna get through in the 50’s?” I ask.
“And why now?” Adds Lucas.
“And why them? What ,he pops out in the 50’s, kills one family and then like pfftt I’m good and just disappears to return 30 years later to kill some teens.” Steve flops down.
Dustin trying to think of answers. He looks up at Max. She's sitting at a desk on the far wall, writing, letter after letter. “Any idea what she's writing?” Dustin whispers to Lucas. He just shrugs.
The door to the basement swings open. Nancy and Robin come running down the stairs clutching some folders. “We have a plan.”
They have undergone some fake identities and are going to talk their way into meeting at the psychiatric home in Pennhurst to try and talk to Victor. Steve flips when he finds out he’s not going with them and follows Nancy upstairs arguing with her why he isn’t going with them.
“I know you guys are staring at me.” Max finally says which makes myself, Dustin and Lucas jump and try to look like we are in the middle of something else.
She starts handing out letters. She hands me one as well. It’s addressed to myself and Eddie. “Don’t read it now. It’s a fail safe. What I want to say to you all if things don’t go how we want.”
“Max, you can’t think like this.” I protest but she shoots me down.
“I’m tired of everyone pretending like everything is going to be ok and that we can stop this. You saw what happened to Chrissy and Fred. No one could help them. Eddie tried but he failed.” She looked at me, both of our eyes threatening to overspill with tears.
“You’ll need to get back to Eddie soon won’t you?” She shakes her head trying to change the subject.
“Max, I’m here for you right now.” I softly say.
She looks round to Mike’s cerebro that has been left on the table while he’s in California. “This will still reach Pennhurst if we go to East Hawkins right?” She asks Dustin.
Steve walks back into the basement. “Wait, why are we talking about East Hawkins?” We all look at him. “No, no, no, no.” He protests.
Max is now storming out to Steve’s car, all of us following behind her. “Max, Max seriously, I’m not joking. I’m not driving you anywhere.”
“Steve, if you think I’m going to spend what could be the last day of my life in Mike Wheeler's armpit of a basement, then you are out of your mind. So either take me where I need to go or you’re going to have to tie me down, which is technically kidnapping of a minor and if I live to see another day, I swear to god I will prosecute.” She tries the door handle of the car but it’s locked. She looks at me, then at Steve. “Open the door.”
“Err no.” Steve shoots her down instantly.
“I know a good lawyer.” The sternest look crossing her face.
“Steve, just open the door.” I tell him. He looks around and sighs.
“Henderson, your walkie talkie better reach Pennhurst.” He sighs and gets in the car.
*
Back at the trailer park we wait for Max to come back to Steve’s car. I spot my dad and duck down. I can’t have him asking questions. “Shit Max needs to hurry up.” I curse.
“You could always stay here you know, not get yourself further into the rabbit hole with this or the freak Munson.” says Steve.
“Shut up Harrington.” I kick the driver's seat which makes him jolt forward. “Just like how you would do anything for Nancy, I would do anything for Eddie.” I hiss.
Max comes storming back. “Are you ok?” Asks Lucas.
“Just get in the car and drive” curses Max.
It's a long uncomfortably quiet ride to the cemetery. Max requested to go here after the trailer park. None of us could argue with her. She obviously had her sights set on something that she needed to do to put her mind at ease. She got out of the car and told us to wait. Lucas climbed out and chased after her.
“He still loves her, doesn't he.” I say to Dustin.
“Is it that obvious?” Dustin jokes. Things look heated between them but Lucas just wants to protect Max, like how I want to protect Eddie.
Max walks off towards a grave and leaves Lucas standing there watching after her.
From a distance I can see she sits down by a grave, unfolds a letter. I can just about see her lips moving as she is reading the letter out loud.
“Is that Billy’s grave?” I ask. Dustin and Steve slowly nod.I can’t even imagine what is written in that letter.
Steve looks at his watch. “She’s had enough time, I’m going to get her.” He starts to storm over. I grab his arm.
“Just give her some time.” I say to him.
“Look if she wants to get a lawyer, let her.”
As we approach Max she is still sitting on the ground staring ahead.
“Come on Max, we gotta go now.” Steve says approaching her. He stops, the look of shock fills his face and he looks at me in horror.
Max’s eyes have glazed over white and she is looking blankly ahead. We are calling her name but she doesn’t respond. “MAX WAKE UP!” we are shouting and clapping our hands in her face. I look over to the car where I can see Dustin and Lucas standing up straight looking over concerned, trying to figure out what is happening. They sprint over to us. Hearts in their mouths. I can hear blood pumping in my ears. Panic rising. Feeling the fear that Eddie must have felt that night in his trailer. We are all screaming her name trying to wake her. “CALL NANCY AND ROBIN” I scream to Dustin.
Dustin is running back to the car and I can hear him screaming ‘Code Red’. No one seems to answer at first, it feels like hours pass when really it's only seconds. Seconds that we can’t spare though.
Dustin starts running back with Max’s walkman and a load of tapes in arm. “We need to play her favourite song!”
“Why?!” Lucas shouts.
“It’s too much to explain right now! WHAT’S HER FAVOURITE SONG!” Dustin screams.
Lucas shuffles through the tapes on the ground and finds the one he’s looking for - Kate Bush. I grab the tape and put it in the walkman turning the volume up as high as it would go as Dustin puts the headphones on Max’s head. I snap down the play button.
She starts floating up into the air. High up in the air above our heads we look up screaming her name. Pure panic is taking over us. Tears stream down my face. This is the terror Eddie felt. Unable to do anything but watch in this moment. Our efforts seem to have no effect. Helplessly we are standing below her, unable to reach. Her body suddenly jolts back into life and she falls to the ground. We catch and cradle her as she hits the ground.
Lucas sobbing into Max “I thought we lost you.”
“I’m still here.” Max pants trying to calm herself down.
I turn to Steve, “Do you believe Eddie now? Cos I certainly fucking do.” He envelopes me in a hug, holding me tight trying to control our shaking. My arms hug around his torso sealing our new friendship and mutual understanding.
“I need to get back to Eddie.” My voice muffled by tears and Steve's shirt. Steve squeezes me tight in response.

Starting Life in Hawkins Chapter 8
Tumblr media
WARNING - 18+, Mention of death, details of death, Stranger Things 4 spoilers, unprotected sex, fluff.
Pairing - Eddie Munson x (f) reader.
Chapter 8
Eddie tells us in detail what happened to Chrissy. His eyes look empty as he recalls every tiny detail that has etched in his mind. It was hard to believe but he wouldn’t make this up. Yes he was good at creating campaigns for D&D but this, this was a whole new level. He looked utterly terrified telling us how she had floated in the air, eyes rolled in the back of her head and how each limb snapped, one by one. Bones snapping like twigs.
“We should get some supplies for you Eddie, you look exhausted and hungry.” Robin suggested.
“I’ll see if I can tap into the police radio on my cerebro.” Said Dustin.
Steve looks at me. “Are you going to be ok here looking after him on your own for the night?” He has concern in his face, worrying about my safety.
“I’ll be fine. Someones gotta look after him.” I smile at Steve and look at Eddie.
Robin, Dustin, Steve and Max leave the boat house leaving me and Eddie alone for the night..
Silence. Not a word was said by either of us. It was unnatural for us, usually never running out of things to say. We just stared at each other not really knowing what to say. “I’m sorry Y/N. I’m so fucking sorry for betraying your trust.” I hadn’t even told him how upset I had been the night before any of this started. I couldn’t, not now, he didn’t need that added stress. He sensed it though. He knew me better than I knew myself.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were meeting Chrissy? Why did you blow me off completely that night? I don’t understand Eddie.” I was shaking trying not to cry but failing and became a blubbering mess.
He almost ran to catch me as I fell to the ground, knees too weak to hold me up. “Babe, I don’t know. Chrissy asked me for complete confidentiality. She wanted drugs that would knock her out. She said she had been having these weird, disturbing nightmares. I didn’t want to involve you just in case we got busted by the cops. My hard stash was back at mine. I’m so sorry.” He sobbed into me. We held each other trying to catch our breaths.
“Are you ok?” I managed to ask him.
“Better now that I know you believe me. I wouldn’t kill anyone. I couldn’t. I couldn’t save her either Y/N. I tried to wake her from this trance she was in. I just…I ran. Like I always do. I was going to come and find you but I didn’t want you on the run as well. They’re going to think I did it.”
“I don’t think you did it. Eddie, I know you. I could have been your alibi.” I took face in my hands and made him look at me. “You are the sweetest, kindest, caring person I know. You always put the people you love first. I know you aren’t capable of murder. We will prove it somehow. Dustin is going to think of something. He’s a smart kid and he’s on your side as well.” I kiss him. At first he doesn’t respond. Then his arms lock around me and he melts into me. His worries of me falling out of love with him disappear.
“I love you” he says, “I love you so fucking much.”
At this moment in time nothing else matters apart from us. It feels like we have been away from each other for months. Our hands exploring each other's bodies, gripping tightly to clothes that are in our way. Soon we are locked in each other, afraid to let each other go. “Never leave me again.” I whisper in his ear while kissing his neck. He lets out a groan.
“Never.” He kisses me hard. Tongues darting in and out of each other's mouths. His hand slips down my jeans, cupping my throbbing pussy. I’m so wet for him. Even with everything going on, I am still craving his touch. I slip my jeans down with a fight and he does the same with his. His cock standing to attention ready to fill me. We are now lying on the messy floor, not caring about our surroundings. Eddie enters me and his rhythm is hard, fast and crazed. My orgasm building quickly, I looked into Eddie’s eyes and could tell his was too. “Baby, I’m so sorry, I’m going to cum.”  Eddie panted breathlessly. With a final thrust I felt myself release with him. The relief of my orgasm sent shivers through my whole body. Eddie collapsed down next to me and held me. “I can’t live without you.” I say to him, choking back tears.
“I can’t live without you either.” He kissed me again. One of our full of love kisses. The ones that never felt like they were going to end.
We spent the night kissing and cuddling, pretending like everything was normal. Pretending we were at Eddie’s trailer, listening to our mix tapes we would make for each other in the brief moments we weren’t attached to the hip. Pretending Eddie wasn’t the most wanted man in Hawkins.
Sleep slowly takes hold of us. Exhausted both mentally and physically we can’t stay awake any longer.
*
“Knock, knock. Please stop any funny business before we enter.” shouts Steve.
“Shut the fuck up Harrington.” Eddie yells with a sarcastic sleepy tone in his voice. There’s my Eddie again. We both sit up to greet the others.
“So, do you want the bad news or good news?” Asks Dustin.
“Bad news first - always” Eddies manages to say through handfuls of cereal he is shoving into his mouth.
“I tapped into Hawkins PD dispatch radio, and they’re definitely looking for you. Also they’re pretty convinced you killed Chrissy.”
“And is there any good news?” He asks
“Your name hasn’t gone public.” Adds Robin, waving her hands a little.
Eddie looks at me.
“Small victories I guess.” huffed Eddie. He held my hand tight. “Stay with me baby? I don’t want to spend another night without you.” His eyes pleaded with me.
“I’m not going anywhere.”
After the group explained to Eddie about the alternative dimension, this fueled Eddie and Dustin to connect the dots realising that what killed Chrissy was a guy called Vecna. Now I knew Vecna was from D&D but the more the explained the connection, the more it made sense. It was too similar.
This all sounded completely delusional as Eddie and I listened to the guys rambling as we sat in the empty boat in the middle. They mentioned how their friend El used to have super powers but now didn’t so they couldn’t use her to close a gate like last time.
“If the gate is closed, how is this Vecna guy getting through?” I asked.
Everyone kind of looked at each other, waiting for an answer to come out of one of their mouths.
“So all we need to do is find Vecna and kill him and prove you’re innocent.” voices Dustin.
“Really Dustin, that's all?” asks Eddie sarcastically.
“We’ve got this.” Says Dustin. Eddie and I look at each other with wide eyes. It really felt impossible.
The sound of sirens in the distance stops the conversation.
“Quick, under the tarp.” panicked Robin.
The others ran across to the small window at the front. They watched as a line of police cars and ambulances sped past.
“Eddie, we need to find out what is happening. Stay here ok?” I pleaded with him. He gave a silent nod.
“Not like I can go anywhere.” He gave a weak smile and I kissed him to let him know I would be back as soon as possible and turned to Steve, Robin, Dustin and Max.
“Lets find out what's going on.” I gave them a strong nod and they all agreed.
Steve drove us to where the barriers had been put up. Getting out of the car we spotted Nancy talking to cops who were taking her statement. She saw us and relief washed over her face. She knew she wasn’t alone anymore. Nancy gave us a small smile and wave while her eyes filled with tears.
Once the police were finished with Nancy we drove back to the trailer park with her to fill her in with everything that happened. We had found out from her that the road had been blocked off as she had found Fred Benson dead in the middle of the road, exactly how Chrissy had been found by Wayne.
It was too coincidental not to be Vecna. He was either doing this with a spell or had some sort of mind control over them. “It doesn’t make sense. Why them?” Nancy asks. “The only things that linked them was being at the game that night and at the trailer park.”
“Should we be at the trailer park?” Steves asks nervously looking around.
“Fred started acting weird the second we got here,” Nancy devolges. “He was scared, on edge, shaking.”
“Max, when you saw Chrissy she was scared too, right?” asks Dustin.
“Yeah but not here. It was at school before the game. I heard her crying in the bathroom.”
“Serial killers stalk their prey before killing them. Perhaps they saw Vecman before.” wondered Robin.
“Vecna” corrected Dustin.
“Why wouldn’t they tell anyone though?” I ask.
“Maybe they did. I saw Chrissy going into Ms Kelly's office. If you saw a monster, you wouldn’t go to the police, they wouldn’t believe you.” said Max.
“But you would go to your shrink” stated Robin.
“We have to go and check. Ask her if she knows anything.” I say standing.
As we walk to the car, Nancy takes off to get in her own car.
Steve and Nancy used to date and any idiot could tell Steve was still in love with her.
“Hey Nance, where are you going?” Steve calls after her.
“There’s something I need to check out. I have a feeling about something, I don’t want to waste your time, it’s a real shot in the dark.” she replies.
“Look, you're not flying solo with this Vecna guy flying around loose. You need someone to go with you.” He chucked his keys to me. “I’ll go with Nancy, you find Ms Kelly.”
“I don’t think you want me to drive your car. I don’t have a license.” Robin looks at me and shakes my head to say she doesn’t have a license either.
“I’ll drive.” Max chimes in.
“No, no, no never again. Anyone else can drive but you.” Steve protests.
Dustin pulls a face almost like ‘so me, yeah’. Steve looks at him and points his finger “No.”
“Come on this is stupid, us ladies will stick together. Unless you think we need you to protect us?” says Robin as she strides over to Nancy.
Steve looks at Nancy and Robin. Nancy the girl he loves and Robin his best friend. “Just be careful ok.” They are already getting in the car.
“You just going to stand there and gaup?” I ask.
“Shut up and get in the car.” Steve storms to get in, ushering us to hurry up. “Always the babysitter, always the goddamn baby sitter.”
*
We pull up at Ms Kelly’s house and Max goes to speak to her. On the drive over we all decided it would be best for Max to go in alone as she had a few sessions with her at school. She wouldn’t open up to just anyone.
Steve, Dustin and I waited in the car. “So, we going to talk about you earlier today?” Dustin questioned Steve.
“Talk about what?” Steve replied.
“Your temporary insanity earlier when you basically threw yourself at Nance.”
“Ok first of all, that's not what happened.” Steve objected.
“That's basically what happened.” I said. “There were a lot of witnesses.”
“Are you guys implying that I still have a thing for Nance?”
“I’m not implying. I’m stating.” says Dustin.
“I was just trying to protect a friend. I would have done it for anyone else Henderson. I don't want to find her in the morning with her eyes popped out by this Vecna guy. Now shut up or I’ll punch you so hard in the face that your teeth will fall back out.”
“Woah” Dustin and I say together. “Too far.”
“Not cool. Sorry.” Steve apologises.
Max comes running back to the car. “Drive.” she shouts.
“What did she say?” Steve questions.
“Nothing, just drive. Drive to the school.” Steve speeds off not wanting to argue with Max.
As Steve is speeding toward Hawking High, Dustin's cerebro goes off. It’s Lucas.
“Lucas, where are you?” Dustin asks.
“Just shut up and listen. Are you guys looking for Eddie?”
“Yeah and we found him no thanks to you. He’s at a boat house, he’s safe, don't worry about it.” Dustin answers.
“You know he killed Chrissy right?” My blood boiled at this. I snatch the cerebro from Dustin.
“That’s bullshit. He tried to save Chrissy.” Max grabs the cerebro off me now.
“Lucas you’re so far behind it’s embarrassing. Just meet us at school and we’ll explain everything.”
“I can’t. Some bad shit is about to go down.” The line goes dead.
We finally get to school. It’s dark so we can break in without anyone seeing us. We’ve just heard from Nancy and Robin to let us know that Nancy’s shot in the dark was actually a bullseye. We’ve told them to meet us at the school.
Max unlocks the office door with the key that she stole from Ms Kelly’s house. Max and I start rummaging through students' names trying to find Chrissy’s file.
“Oh shit” says Max.
“You found it?” I ask.
“Yeah, not just Chrissy’s file. Fred was seeing Ms Kelly too.”
We start reading through them. Severe headaches, nose bleeds, constant nightmares, past trauma. Max looks blankly. A sweat breaks out on her and she slowly turns like she has heard something call her name.
“Max? Max? Are you ok?” I ask. I’m scared. I look at Dustin and Steve. Something isn’t right.

Chapter 7
I feel like I have been going around in circles for hours, my head spinning, trying to make sense of the morning events.
I’ve ended up at Dustin's house. Unsure how I got here or how long I’ve been walking. I feel lost. When I turned up at the Wheeler’s house, Nancy told me Mike has flown to California to see his girlfriend and best friend. I had completely forgotten. She offered me a lift home but I numbly shook my head and carried on walking. That’s how I found myself at Dustin’s.
Dustin adores Eddie. He looks up to Eddie, sees him like a big brother. He would know what I’m thinking, he would know Eddie wasn’t capable of murder.
“Chrissy Cunningham? You sure it was Chrissy?” Dustin questioned Max again. Max had gone on a hunt to track me down and found me at Dustin’s.
“Yes, in her cheerleaders outfit. The same thing when you and Y/N saw her with Eddie.” Confirmed Max. She had frustration in her eyes as this was about the fifteenth time going over the same points with Dustin.
“Did you tell the cops you saw them together?” I pressed.
“No of course not! But I can’t have been the only one who saw them together, they stuck out. Chrissy the cheerleader and Eddie the freak.” Max said this without really thinking. She was just saying what everyone thought.
“He’s not a freak. He is one of the most caring humans I know” I exclaim.
“You know his name Max, its not in the news.” Dustin joins in.
“Yes but I can guarantee he’s the number one suspect.” replied Max. I get why she's defensive, she's been dragged into this, but she doesn’t know Eddie like we do.
“Eddie didn’t do this. No way!” said Dustin.
“But we can’t rule it out.” answers Max.
“Yes we can!” I was getting angry now. “You don’t know him like we do Max”
“When we got to high school, Lucas made all his sports friends. Me and Mike? Everyone was mean to us. All except Eddie.” Dustin had tears in his eyes. Worried for his friend.
“Well that's the same shit with Ted Bundy. Nice guy until he’s murdering women at the weekend.”
“So you’re saying Eddie is like Ted Bundy?” I question, also getting frustrated now.
“No I’m not saying - I’m saying we can’t presume anything, okay? But it doesn’t look good for Eddie.” Max was trying not to upset us, but she was a very ‘matter of fact person’.
Dustin was pacing the room. “Why haven’t you told the cops this?”
“I…I don’t know” shrugged Max.
“You don’t know” I scoffed.
“After I saw Eddie and Chrissy go in the trailer, something else happened. Nothing that weird I mean, Eddie always drives like a maniac and the power at the trailer park is shit and always going off. But thinking back this morning. I don’t know. The look on his face. Eddie was scared, Y/N. Like really scared. Maybe he was scared because he killed someone or maybe because I don’t know, something else killed her.”
“Something else?” I pressed. They seemed to have forgotten I was there and now couldn’t hear me.
“Impossible.” Dustin said.
“Is it though Dustin? We’ve seen a lot of weird shit.”
“There’s one person who would know - Eddie. Have you talked to anyone else?” I could hear the cogs in Dustin's head turning and he questioned Max further, trying to formulate a plan.
“No, I tried to find Lucas and Nancy, Mikes in California.” Max replied.
“Nancy? What has Nancy got to do with this?” I was so confused. “Where are we going?” I ask Dustin as he’s grabbing his bag.
“To see a friend. Come on, we’ll fill you in on the way. By the power of Hellfire Club, you cannot breathe a word of this.” I nodded at Dustin. I had never seen him so riled up. He was ready to fight for Eddie as much as I was.
After a very uncomfortable ride on the back of Dustin’s bike we had arrived at Family Video. After hearing of what really happened at Star Court and about their friend El, this was the least weirdest thing, arriving for help at the video store. I believed them though, they had no reason to lie to me if they were willing to help me find Eddie.
“Steve, how many phones do you have here?” Dustin said as he burst through the door of the shop.
“You seen this? Someone was murdered” Steve said ignoring Dustins quesition, as him and the other girl stood watching the news on the TV.
“How many phones have you got Robin?” Dustin bypassed Steve now and spoke directly to the girl.
“Two, three if you count Keith’s one.” replied Robin, barely taking her eyes off of the TV screen.
“Perfect, that will do” said Dustin, pushing everything off of the sides as he did his best to hop over the counter. “Hey my piles!” exclaimed Robin, throwing her hands up and then scrabbling to try and catch the falling videos and paper.
“Dude what are you doing!” shouted Steve.
“Setting up base for operation” Dustin replied as he undid his backpack.
“Base of operation? Get off the computer Henderson.” Steve tried his best to take control over the situation.
“I need it.”
“For what?”
I chimed up “For Eddie’s friends phone numbers.” They all stopped and looked at me. I think they forgot I was here. I had not said a word since entering the shop. Still trying to process everything.
Steve turned back to Dustin, “What, your new best friend who you think is cooler because he plays your nerdy game?” There was a little bit of jealousy in his voice.
“Yes. And I never said that.”
“Guys come on, can this wait until later, we have a lot to do.” said Robin.
“Robin, I empathise, I really do, but this cannot wait. It's an emergency.” Dustin said so very matter of factly.
“An emergency?” she replied.
“Yes, Y/N and Max will fill you in.” Dustin turned back to the computer and started clicking away at the keys.
Now we had Steve and Robin on board, we were phoning and going through Eddie's list of friends.
“Have you heard or seen from Eddie recently?”
“Eddie Munson. When's the last time you saw him? Spoke to him?”
“Okay, sorry to bother you. Would you know of anyone who would have seen him?”
These phone calls seemed endless which weren’t getting us anywhere.
“What about Reefer Rick?” I asked. They all looked at me.
“Does this Reefer Rick have a last name?” questioned Max.
“I don’t know, no one really knows. All I know is sometimes Eddie crashes there after picking up his supply. He’s never taken me there.” I say.
“Bet the cops know his last name.” Mutters Steve, loud enough for us to hear.
“What do you mean Harrington?” Asks Dustin.
“Reefer Rick, right if he is this drug dealer you all think he is, he must have been busted at some point. He’ll be in the system.”
“Really Steve, that's your suggestion, go to the cops.” Dustin says. “You think Eddie is guilty, don't you.”
“I believe in innocence until proven guilty, all that constitutional shit. I just don’t think we can rule it out.”
“That's precisely what we are trying to do, Steve.” I say angrily. Getting frustrated with not getting any further. “And maybe we would have a bit more luck if you didn’t spend your time trying to flirt with the customers.”
“Someone has to attend to the customer.”
“Especially if they’re babes right?”
“Hey, not fair, okay? I’ve just met you. I attend to all customers fairly. Babes and non-babes” He defended.
Robin suddenly rushed to the computer, hammering the keys. “Maybe we don’t need a last name. Twelve Ricks have an account here. So let's narrow it down. Rick Alderman’s latest rental, Dumbo. Chances of the drug dealer having a family - unlikely. Rick Conroy, Sixteen Candles, Teen Wolf, Romancing the Stone..”
“No” Dustin, Max, Steve and I all said in unison.
“Okay. Rick Lipton. Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Cheech & Chong's Next Movie.Cheech & Chong's Up in Smoke. Bingo”
My heart flutters. Have we just gotten a step closer to finding Eddie?
“2121 Holland Road.” Robin says and she scribbles down the address.
“That's out by Lovers Lake. Middle of nowhere. Perfect place to hide” I confirm after looking up the street in the map book Dustin had packed.
Steve and Robin locked the store. We all hopped into Steve's car and sped off. Was I about to see Eddie? Find out what was really happening. I felt sick to my stomach. How could so much change in such a short amount of time.
When we arrived at Holland Road night had fallen. The house looked pretty empty and my hopes that we would find Eddie here faded.
“Let's just try first and see if anyone answers.” Dustin seemed more hopeful than I was. He rang the doorbell, nothing. He tried again. Nothing.
“Come on let's go, he's obviously not here.” Steve said, starting to turn away from the door to leave.
“Eddie! It’s Dustin.” The sound of desperation cracking through his voice.
“Great.” Steve stopped and threw his arms up.
“Eddie, we just want to talk. No cops.” He kept his finger pressed on the bell, the constant ringing echoing through the house. “Rick! Reefer Rick!”
“Dustin shh don’t shout that.” Robin said in hushed tones as if someone was spying on us.
“Hey what's that over there?” I pointed at an old looking garage. “Looks like an old boat house. It’s open let's go check.” Before waiting for an answer I was making my way over to it.
The boat house was old and rickety with a lot of junk lying around. Steve picked up an old broken oar and started prodding around.
“Steve, what the hell are you doing?” I questioned.
“He might be in there.”
“Well take the tarp off.”
“You take the tarp off if you’re so brave.”
There was a creak from the floorboards. “Someone was here.” Max said looking at wrappers of food on a table along with an empty cigarette packet. Marlboro reds, Eddies brand.
“Maybe he got spooked and ran away.” Robin chimed in.
“Don’t worry Steve will get him with his oar.” I sniggered.
“I know you think you’re being funny, but considering everyone else in this room has nearly died like one hundred times, personally I don’t find it funny in the slight-” Steve was cut off mid sentence. Something jumped out of the tarp next to Steve. Holding a sharp metal object they pushed Steve to the wall. It was Eddie.
“Woah woah woah Eddie! It's me, Dustin. This is Steve. We aren’t going to hurt you.”
I step forward from the darkness, my voice at a whisper not wanting to make Eddie jump, “Steve why don’t you drop the oar.” Eddie slowly looked at me as he recognises my voice.
“What are you doing here?” He asked. He looked manic and scared, shaking. I just wanted to hold him.
“Weve been looking for you. We’re here to help Eddie. Please Eddie, we are on your side.” I pleaded with him. He dropped his grip around Steve's collar and walked away. He leaned against the wall and slid down it, looking into the distance.
“Eddie, we just want to talk,” says Dustin slowly.
“We want to know what happened.” Robins says as she kneels down beside him.
I’m frozen to the spot. Eddie looks up at me helplessly. “You won’t believe me.”
“Try us.” utters Max.

Chapter 6
The day the Hellfire Club had been dreading arrived at school. The pep rally. An event during school hours that every student had to attend.
I took my usual place next to Eddie naturally. “All of this for a game where you throw balls into laundry baskets” He smirked and I giggle in response.
“Hey Eddie, be cool, remember Lucas is playing tonight.” Shh Mike. Lucas had been a member of Hellfire Club but abandoned them to play basketball. To be with the popular kids.
“Pffftt he probably barely remembers our name. Sinclair forgot about us a long time ago. His sister is more of a loyal D&D player than he was.” I could tell Eddie was still bitter about Lucas taking up basketball but he was being a bit dramatic. I squeezed his leg and gave him the look of ‘leave it, we’ll talk about it later’ he rolled his eyes at me and rested his head on his hand.
The pep rally seemed to be never ending. Jason confessing his love for Chrissy, naming all the students who had died mysteriously - not that he personally knew them, just looking for sympathy by naming them. I glanced across at Mike and Dustins friend Max. Her step brother was Billy who had died in the Starcourt Mall disaster. I had heard many stories about what happened that night and things just didn’t add up. Why were the military present at a fire?
Finally we were free to leave the gym. “Hey babe, I’ve gotta go make a quick deal. Mike are you ok to ask your sister to take Y/N home?” Eddie looked shiftier than normal when he was about to go and meet a ‘client’. He knew I didn’t completely agree with him dealing but no would hire him in Hawkins, plus he would always save some weed for us to smoke.
“I’ll see you later.” I went in to kiss him but he stopped me.
“Look I’m not exactly sure how long this is going to take or what exactly they want so rain check? Catch up tomorrow?” He had blown me off. Completely. I was a bit dumb struck by this.
“Erhh yeah, sure I guess, '' I replied. He gave me a quick kiss on the cheek. I felt a pain go through my heart and my eyes welled up and I watched him walk away. Something was going on and he didn’t want to open up to me.
Mike and Dustin saw my face. “Hey you ok?” Dustin asked.
“Er yeah sure fine. Come on let’s go get our things and go. Thanks for giving me a lift Mike.”
After getting my belongings from Eddies locked - we were now sharing a locker as I couldn’t stand one more flood from the boys toilets and standing in a puddle - I went to go meet Dustin, Mike and Mike’s sister Nancy out in the parking lot. Getting into Nancy’s car I looked over to the back of the gym. I knew this was where Eddie met his clients. I stopped, mouth open in shock. Eddie was there, hugging a cheerleader and then leading her off into the woods. Is he cheating on me? “MIKE, DUSTIN!” I yelled, “Why is Eddie with a cheerleader? Is that Chrissy Cunningham?”
“No he can’t be. He’s besotted with you.” comforted Mike.
“I mean, he did kinda blow her off earlier after the pep rall-” Dustin started but Mike elbowed him in the ribs.
“Look Y/N, I’ve seen you and Eddie around school, he literally cannot keep his eyes off of you. Even when you are walking off to class, Eddie doesn’t leave until you are out of his sight.” Nancy chimed in.
“I bet Chrissy is just buying some weed for some lame party.” Mike said.
“Yeah, maybe. Let's just go. Thanks again for the lift Nancy.” I say getting into the car.
The whole drive back I sat in the back in silence. I couldn’t shake off a bad feeling. Chrissy had always been flirty around Eddie and Eddie had admitted to me that during middle school he had the biggest crush on her.
I thanked Nancy and Mike again for going out of their way to drop me off home. I rushed into the trailer not even looking over at Eddie's trailer. There was no point. He was with Chrissy, potentially doing a drug deal, potentially cheating on me.
I didn’t eat dinner that night. Not being able to switch my mind off, feeling sick with anxiety. I managed to fall asleep around midnight but kept waking up from nightmares. I had already lost my mom, I wasn’t ready to lose Eddie. Ok so Eddie wasn’t dying but I still didn’t want to lose him.
I got ready for school like normal and went to leave to go and knock at Eddie's trailer. It was unusual for him not to be knocking for me. There had only been one time before and that was because he managed to sleep in after a long campaign.
I got the biggest shock of my life when I leave the trailer and lock the door. There are police everywhere. Swarming around Eddie's trailer. Has he been caught selling drugs? I run over in a panic. His van isn’t there. What if something terrible has happened to him and I’ve been angry at him all night. “EDDIE!” I scream. A police officer stops me.
“Stop kid, you can’t come in here, it’s a crime scene!” A crime scene?! Was Eddie ok? I start to panic and hyperventilate. Max Mayfield lives across the road from Eddie. She comes running over when she sees the panic in my face and guides me over to hers.
“Y/N calm down. I’m not exactly sure what happened last night. I saw Eddie come back with Chrissy. And then he drove off at speed after an hour or so without her.”
“Eddie brought Chrissy back to his trailer?” I wailed. I was heartbroken. Did he really cheat on me? Was he ok? My mind was running wild.
I spotted Wayne and he came over. “Wayne, what’s happening? Where’s Eddie?” I was shaking like mad. I needed to sit down before I fell over.
“I don’t know where he is. The cops are hunting him for murder.”
“Murder?! Why? Who?” I couldn’t understand. Eddie, murder? It was impossible.
“Chrissy Cunningham. I found her this morning. She was all twisted up. Her eyes had popped. I just can’t explain it. I know Eddie, he wouldn’t do this.” Wayne was as baffled as I was.
“I need to find Eddie, this has to all be a mistake.” I was in full panic mode. I started running down the road not really knowing where I was going. I need to find someone who knows where Eddie is. I need Eddie.

Chapter 5
Eddie and I were inseparable. He was blind to anyone else eyeing him up. He was only interested in me.
The first time I saw his band play at The Hideout, a large group of metal head girls - far prettier than myself - tried to get Eddie's attention as the band finished their set. They walked up to him offering him a beer. It was like they weren’t there as he completely ignored them, made a B-line for me, picked me up pressing me against his sweaty body and squeezed me tight.
I was definitely in love. Of course I hadn’t told him this but I think he knew. Everything I did, Eddie was my first thought.
My dad had started to warm to Eddie. They got on, talking about music, films and what Eddie wanted to do after he graduated. He must have grown comfortable around Eddie and he would bring up my mom in conversation. Each time a small smile appeared on his face. Even after all this time my dad was still in love with my mom.
One lazy evening as we laid spalled out on Eddie's bed after a heated make out session almost naked. He lay down the length of his bed and I lay across it with my head resting on his stomach. Our hands got entangled in each other's, playing lightly with each other's fingers.
As we lay listening to mixtapes, not saying much, just enjoying one another's company, The Rolling Stones White Horses came on. Not our usual choice of music but he knew my mom had loved The Rolling Stones. What he didn’t know was that this song was played at her funeral. My eyes filled with tears as I listened to the lyrics. ‘Faith has been broken, Tears must be cried. Let's do some living, After we die’ my grip must have tightened and I fought to hold back the tears. Eddie stroked my hair as he propped himself up. Concern on his face when he saw my eyes. “Shh sweetheart what's wrong” he whispered as he stroked my face.
“This song…it was played…at my moms..” I couldn’t finish the sentence. My voice catching in my throat. Unable to breath through grief. Of course it wasn’t the song that made me upset. It was coming up to a year of losing my mom and I felt like I was forgetting her. Forgetting her smell, her laugh, her hugs.
“Shit, I’m so sorry. I had no idea. I made the mix tape and didn’t even think. Babe, shit, fuck. I’m sorry” panic shooting across his face, him trying to scramble to turn the music off.
I held his arm. As much as this song made me sad, it made me think of my mom. How happy she was, even when sickness overcame her, she always had a smile on her face.
“She would have loved you.” I squeaked softly to Eddie. “She would have loved you almost as much as I do.” Before I realised exactly what I said the words had come out.  Silence. Both of us processing what had just been revealed.
He repositioned himself. Both of us lay sideways on his bed. Feet dangling off the bed. Face to face. Noses nearly touching each other. Both of us with lumps in our throat and tears in our eyes. “I love you too,” he whispered. His kiss was long and tender. Slowly pressing our tongues in each other's mouths. Not a way we kissed before. There was definitely love in this kiss. Love not lust.
We lay there holding each other for a few moments. I needed him. All of him. I was ready.
“I want you” I moaned at Eddie. Heat filling me. He stroked my hair, enveloped me in his arms.
“Are you sure sweetheart?” Eddie was always making sure I was ok and not rushing into things.
I repeated again. “I want you.” I held his face tight. “I need you.”
We kissed passionately. Nothing else existed right now apart from us. It didn’t take long for Eddie to get hard or for me to get wet. Clothes being ripped from our bodies.
“Are you ready?” Eddie purred. I nodded. I had never been so sure in my life. He used his knees to spread my legs apart. Using his hand to steady the base of his cock and he slowly guided himself in. As he stretched through my opening I winced. Yes he had used his fingers in me before but his cock was huge. He stopped, kissed me and asked “do you want me to keep going.” I didn’t answer, just kissed him hard again and wrapped my legs around the back of his legs so he knew it was ok to keep going.
He slowly picked up his rhythm to my moans. It was like we were built for each other. Every groove of our bodies just fit. Nothing had ever felt so good or so right.
I ran my nails down his bare back craving more. This spurred Eddie on as he growled in my ear.
He grabbed me and hurled me as he sat up. I was now sitting in his lap, face to face. Closest we could possibly be. In rhythm with each other, staring into each other's eyes. Our breath as one.
My head falls back as I slowly reach the point of extreme pleasure. Eddie kisses down my chin and neck. His pumps are getting harder and faster, his moans louder and deeper. He is almost there as well. “Look at me baby” he says as he grabs my chin to pull my eyes back to his. “I want to look at you when you cum.”
And that I do. I can feel my cum building up inside of me, soaking Eddie even more.
“Fuck I’m going to cum baby, quick I haven’t got a condom on.” He starts to try and fumble me off. In our passion we completely forgot. I can’t have him stop though. I’m still cumming and I’m not ready to stop yet.
“Cum in me.” I moan, gripping my legs around him. Eagerness fills his eyes. He’s more excited. He gets faster and faster until he gets to the point I need him to be at. He grabs my face, kisses me hard and we look into each other's eyes. Watching each other hit our climax as one.
We gained consciousness to the world and our surroundings, our heartbeats slowing, “How was that baby girl?” Eddie said through grins, loosening his grip.
“I want to do that again very soon.” I replied breathlessly. He kissed me in response.
“Oh we will, many times, for as long as you will have me.”
We peeled our sweaty bodies away from each other and cleaned ourselves up. Eddie had lent me his Hellfire Club tee which hung loosely over my body. “You might as well just sleep here tonight. We both have the same class tomorrow morning. We can ‘study’.” Eddie used his fingers to make air quotes. You laughed and gave in.
“I am going to have to sleep though you know, after that…Geeze! Mind. Blown.” I said as I climbed into my usual side of his bed. It wasn’t the most glamorous bed, with stains and rips but it was Eddie’s bed and that's all I cared about.
Eddie turned the light off leaving the room in darkness and leapt into bed next to me. “Afraid the monsters might get your feet?” I teased.
“Hey! You never know what looms out from under this bed when the light goes off.” He jabbed me in the ribs and tickled me. “Night beautiful.” He whispered softly. “I love you.”
“I love you too Eds.”
