The Streets - The Edge of a Cliff
One of the newer Streets' tunes. Classic Mike Skinner storytelling about being on the edge of suicide and being drawn back. Love the production too.
Digest the chorus lyrics:
For billions of years since the outset of time
Every single one of your ancestors survived
Every single person on your mum and dad's side
Sucessfully looked after and passed onto you life
What are the chances of that like?
Its comes to me once in a while
And everywhere I tell folk it gets the best smile

Quite apt at the moment with current affairs
David Cameron communist propaganda poster photographed in Brighton (May 2013)
I spotted this satirical poster of David Cameron on the streets of Brighton and thought it was very effective and clever.
The colours and style mimic iconic propaganda posters. This poster shows to join the Prime minster ‘Chairman Cameron’ to the ‘long march to growth’ with global companies featured on the poster (TESCO, McDONALDS and RBS etc) The bold title ‘Comrades’ is important in this artwork as this word defines a colleague or a fellow member of an organisation, a fellow socialist or communist. The word Comrade features heavily in the book 1984 by George Orwell.
I personally think the style relates to the famous propaganda posters of Mao Zedong who was commonly known as ‘Chairman Mao’ He was a Chinese communist leader and founder of the People’s Republic of China.
Click here and here to see Mao Zedong’s posters that relate to this artwork.
Unfortunately the artist is unknown but it’s very clear of the artists’ feelings and emotions towards the UK government.
