I know it's the point for reader-inserts fics to be romantic, but the way people write them so dripping in unrealistic fantastical puppy love really triggers this innately viscerally repulsed reaction in me.

If I ever make a sequel to this, it’ll be of reader wanting to confess their feelings for him using the moon line, but each night they try, there are clouds out. On the last night, they’re at a party held by the Akademiya (the Kamisatos are visiting). It’s a beautiful night, but every time they talk to Thoma, they get pulled away bc they’re a higher up and thus need to talk to people. Eventually it cuts to the clean up after the party is finished. They’re finally free, but it’s past midnight and the Kamisatos have already turned in. They start to tear up as they look up at the sky until they suddenly hear a voice behind them.

“The moon is beautiful, isn’t it?”

Then they kiss kiss fall in love under the Sakura trees and moonlight. The end. uwu

Reader in this one is a half-kitsune that’s only a few decades older than Miko, but otherwise grew up with her. Before she disappeared, Lady Saiguu, reader’s guardian, left them a message with the elders of the clan stating two things: (1)watch over Miko, and (2) to never covet what isn’t theirs. The reason being that reader is a bastard half-breed child, effectively an ugly scar upon the clan. Because of this, they took a step back and became more distant to Miko.

Cut forward 400+ years and they’re still performing their duties faithfully. Miko doesn’t enjoy being around them, but they follow her wherever she goes regardless. They love her. They have for centuries, and on some level, Miko knows this, so she often tests their self-control and resolve to see what it’ll take for them to break.

Understandably, there’s a lot of sexual tension in this story. I could go in more detail but I won’t.

I am curious as to why people are saying that Arlecchino is an example of continuing the cycle of abuse. There is no doubt that Arlecchino gathers and raises children to become soldiers and sends them on missions that can result in their death. And while this is no doubt a truly evil thing to do, I don't exactly see how this falls under the category of abuse. I'm assuming this is because my personal definition of abuse doesn't include pure brainwashing LOL

Now I haven't played Lynette's hangout yet, but I've never seen a single instance of Arlecchino threatening the orphans. I've never seen her isolating them (though people would disagree with me). Going off of Freminet and Lyney's lore, she makes decisions and does things for them based off of their well being. She doesn't punish them for failing. She encourages their strengths.

To me, the only really bad thing she does is… raising them to become child soldiers. WHICH IS A HORRIBLE THING, I'M NOT DENYING THAT. But like literally how is that any different from Ayato? He's doing the exact same thing with the Shuumatsuban??? Also that whole previous paragraph is not me making the argument that she's a good person. What I'm trying to say is that if it's purely the raising child soldiers that's what makes her abusive, then Ayato is abusive as well. However, if people can agree on that argument then I suppose I have no arguments left and can understand the logic behind calling her abusive.

And I know anyone with a strong sense of justice would look at me saying these things about abuse will accuse me of being an abuse apologist or whatever but like… I'm not a stranger to it. My mother was physically abused as a child and the effects of this affected the way she raised me. I understand the concept of continuing the cycle of abuse. I have friends with abusive parents. One of my friends had to lock herself in the bathroom because her mother was chasing her with a knife. I know what abuse looks like. Abuse hurts. Abuse damages. Arlecchino doesn't treat the kids that way.

I said what I did, but my writing currently is extremely flowy. There's no bumps, crevices, curves, hills.... It's complete and total legato. However in my case, the issue isn't with sentence variation. It's the way I word my sentences. It's too poetic and vibey. Honestly pretty cringe in many aspects, like it's doing its best to sound meaningful and deep. It works well writing oneshots, but if I ever wanted to write an actual chaptered story, it'd completely fail. I really need to learn how to write proper prose again...

thoughts on transparent and trifle

Transparent:

It's probably clear from the fic, but there's a lot of things that Furina does not notice due to her self-loathing. The reason why she doesn't notice reader's feelings for her is because she can't fathom why anyone would ever like her. However, to everyone else, reader's feelings are quite clear from the way they treat her.

At one point, I actually did want to spell out reader's adoration for her. For example, the way they can't tear their eyes away whenever she's on stage. The warmth in their eyes whenever she shows her more hesitant side. The way they stand in front of her to hide her view of those that don't like her. But the more I tried writing that, the more I realized I couldn't see Furina leading someone on like that. If she did notice, she'd probably avoid them. So I went with the idea she didnt notice at all instead.

Trifle:

I hope nobody reads this fic and paints Cyno out to be the bad guy. What I was trying to make reader do was for them to describe Cyno as base Cyno. Aka, normal Cyno. Aka, nothing out of the ordinary Cyno. I tried to write it specifically so that, when reading what Cyno did, it wouldn't ring any bells. The way Cyno treated reader is the same way he'd treat anyone else under his tutelage.

Reader says it themselves. Their fault is they fall in love too easily. And they do. Cyno treated them normally and they took it to mean something special. Their hubris was definitely hubris. They looked to deeply into something they shouldn't have.

However what I didn't mention in this is that.... Honestly I don't think Cyno is the type that'd realize he's leading someone on. And I don't think he's the type that'd realize someone is into him. What this lead to in the cabin of the fic is him acting awkwardly around reader after. He'd become too self-aware. But he'd also become aware of reader as well. And somewhere along the way, he'd probably end up falling in love haha

#spoilers #c*no would be so cute after #like freezing up and floundering a lot #and reader wouldn't be any better #though they initially regretted it seeing how he's finally noticing them would just.... make them fall in love even more haha #probably using their feelings against him #because they'd know he'd be really sensitive about unintentionally hurting their feelings #theyd swe him tripping over himself and would just stare like #'oh... that.... that's really cute.... 😐'
