At A Distance, Spring Is Green -BL Version (Yeo Jun x Nam Soo Hyun)-Chapter 22 :The Dreams of Our Youth
"How about we have another drink?" Yeo Jun asked as he walked home with Soo Hyun.
"Go in." Soo Hyun replied. "I'll go pick up some beers."
Yeo Jun was surprised. "What? I was just kidding." A tease of a smile was on his lips "You'll actually drink more? Nam Soo Hyun is going for another round!" he shouted
"Be quiet." Soo Hyun scolded
"There should be more beers in the fridge " Yeo Jun said
"No.There's none."
"Right. I forgot to tell you earlier.I deep-cleaned the fridge . It was filled with the leftovers from all the food you had ordered.I threw them out with my own hands."
Having said his piece, he turned and left.
"Thank goodness we played Secret Santa." Yeo Jun ran after him. "We should keep doing it.Why don't we extend the agreement?"
"No. I don't want to." Soo Hyun replied.
"Why not?"
"Then will you be my Secret Santa?" he asked looking at Yeo Jun.
"No. I don't want that?"
Soo Hyun elbowed him playfully. "See. I knew you'd say that."
"But can you be my boyfriend instead?"
Soo Hyun stopped in his tracks and turned slowly to look at Yeo Jun.
That teasing smile was not on his face so Soo Hyun knew he wasn't joking.
"You---"
"I'm serious." Yeo Jun stepped closer to him. "Be my boyfriend."
"But---"
"Be my boyfriend."
Nam Soo Hyun sighed at what he was being confronted with. He really liked Yeo Jun alot and they'd crossed more than a few lines but he'd never truly considered what they were or if they could actually go somewhere or be something.
"Jun--"
Yeo Jun took his hands in his. "Don't say no.I like you and I know you like me too.I want to be with you. Even if I regret it in the future, I don't care.I want to do it with you."
"Do what with me?" Soo Hyun asked.
"I want to be brave enough to befriend you and to love you with all my heart." Soo Hyun swallowed hard, looking into the earnest eyes of the person standing before him. "Will you do it?" Yeo Jun asked.
Soo Hyun nodded once. "I will."
Yeo Jun's eyes shone brightly. The teasing smile graced his lips. "You will what?"
Soo Hyun looked at him wearily knowing he was teasing again.
"Hmm? You will what?"
Soo Hyun shook his head and began walking away again.
Jun caught to him. "Just say it one time." he begged.
Soo Hyun sighed. "I'll be your boyfriend." he conceded.
Jun smiled from ear to ear. "Say it one more time."
Not going to happen. He continued walking, a smile playing on his lips, joy in his on heart.
"I have a boyfriend!" Yeo Jun shouted into the night. Soo Hyun spun around to face him, shocked at his sudden outburst.
Yeo Jun grinned and closed the gap between them reaching up to kiss Soo Hyun on the cheek.
"We're outside." he told Yeo Jun
"Who cares? I'll do what I want with my boyfriend. If someone has a problem that's their business." his smile was still bright. "Let's go." he held out his hand to Soo Hyun.
When he hesitated, Jun grabbed it. He half expected Soo Hyun to pull his hand out but he never did and so they walked to get their next round of drinks.
"My father gave me my father's journal from when he as young." Soo Hyun said to Jun as tey sat on the terrace looking up at the night sky.
"His journal?"
"I guess my mom found it while organizing his things. I read the whole thing."
"Is it your father's secret journal?" Jun asked "Then you can't read it. Even if you're his son."
"I guess you could call it a secret." Soo Hyun conceded "Because it's something I didn't know of." He sighed deeply. "I found out that my father also worried and struggled alot and was hurt as well when he was my age.He wanted to be a great father.I resented him all my life but to tell you the truth," he looked at Yeo Jun "I actually wanted to be a cop like my father."
"I just tried to picture you as a cop." Jun squinted his eyes playfully "You'll be too fair and righteous for your own good." He looked at is boyfriend. "Police Officer Nam Soo Hyun might look good in a uniform but he would never let off those who break the law."
Soo Hyun smiled. "That's exactly how my father was. He always made sacrifices for others and died in an accident." He paused as he reflected."That's why I had to give up on my dream."
"Why give it up?" Jun asked. "You can write your own ending to your story."
"Someone's matured." He looked at Jun.
Jun smiled "Don't I say cool things from time to time?"
"Gosh. How annoying." He looked at Yeo Jun "That's all I remember."
Realizing the words were his own, Yeo Jun bit his lip "I guess that hurt you seeing how you still remember it." He bowed his head. "I'm sorry. Please forgive me."
"Is there anything you want to do?" Soo Hyun asked
Jun thought about it for a moment. "I'm not sure." he admitted. "Whenever I was having a hard time I tried to do the things I thought I wanted to do at the time to hold out but none of them was what I truly wanted to do."
"It's not too late to find out." Soo Hyun said "You're good at many things."
"Right. That's true...what should I do first? When the summer break begins..."
"During the break..." Soo Hyun was about to say something
"Why don't we do something fun?" Jun suggested "We should go camping together."
"I'll spend the summer at my uncle's." Soo Hyun replied. "My mother is there.I want to look after her."
"Ahh."Jun nodded. "Just during the summer?"
"I might come back with my mother and live with her." Jun's face fell. "Thanks for everything."
"Am I supposed to cry now?" Jun asked.
"Are you going to stop being my boyfriend if I move out?" Soo Hyun asked.
Though he was happy to hear Soo Hyun voluntarily refer to himself as his boyfriend, he also felt a little sad at the prospect of him living elsewhere.
"Nothing's forever." he sulked."As they say 'out of sight, out of mind'. What if you stop liking me?"
"Mmm...Not possible" Soo Hyun replied. "You can try to push me away." He continued "But even if you do," he looked at Yeo Jun "I'll come and bug you."
"I'll be so cold to you . You just wait and see."
"Don't go overboard." Soo Hyun smiled at him.
"You wish." Jun replied. "I'm totally going to get back at you."
"Weren't you the one who just proposed ?" Soo Hyun teased.
Yeo Jun was totally taken aback.
"Be my boyfriend." Soo Hyun tried to mimic him.
"Hey! Stop." Yeo Jun shoved him playfully.
"I want to be brave enough to befriend you and to love you with all my heart." Soo Hyun continued to tease.
"Stop." Jun covered his ears.
Soo Hyun grabbed Yeo Jun's hands, forcing him to listen,
"Even if I regret it in the future, " he looked into Yeo Jun's eyes, repeating his words. "I don't care.I want to do it with you." The smiles on their faces faded as they looked into each other's eyes, leaning closer.
Under the twinkling stars, the pair kissed.
I've become an adult who can share his true feelings thanks to the people who love me for who I am.  Yeo Jun thought to himself as he rested his head on Soo Hyun's shoulder.
Two Months Later
Myeongil University
Yeo Jun's head was rested on the desk waiting for their class to begin.
"Wake up." Soo Hyun who was sitting directly behind him reached forward and tapped him on the shoulder. "Jun."
Yeo Jun stirred.
As Soo Hyun leaned forward, his ice coffee tipped, falling with a splash at Yeo Jun's feet.
"I'm sorry." Soo Hyun reached for napkins to help with the mess.
Yeo Jun grabbed his hand and looked at him. "I'll do it."
Looking at Jun's hand, a little smile budded on Soo Hyun's lips.
"Did you just smile?" Jun asked
"Wasn't it too cold?"
"Obviously ice is cold, not hot."
"That' a relief."
"What?"
"I mean, I'm not relieved  that this happened." Soo Hyun said "Anyway I'm sorry. You should go wash your clothes first."
"It's okay." Yeo Jun leaned back in his chair.
Soo Hyun grabbed his arm again. "I'm not okay with this."
"Then pay me 600,000 won." Yeo Jun replied.
"What?"
"Just the dry cleaning and 40,000 on for the commute and my time." Jun said. "Then 550,000 won for a new pair of pants."
"What? 550,000?" Soo Hyun was stunned. He set the napkins down "Do you think money grows on trees?" he challenged.
"Oh. I get cold easily." Jun informed him. "So this iced water is really bad for me." He looked at Soo Hyun with a serious expression "I should get a medical certificate."
"Just think that you took a cold shower." Soo Hyun refused to be bested. "It's a sweltering day anyway."
"You're mean." Jun pouted looking up at Soo Hyun
"What?Look who's talking."
"Are you two fighting again?" Soo-Bin arrived, looking from one to the other.
"Soo Hyun spilled his coffee on me. " Yeo Jun tattled, sticking his tongue out at Soo Hyun as he took his seat again.
Soo Hyun glared at him.
"I think I'll become a judge." their friend declared.
"What?" Jun was surprised. "You decided on your career path?"
"You two fight everyday and ask me to judge who is in the right and in the wrong. I can't do this anymore."
"But this time Soo Hyun was a little more at fault."
"You little.."
"What?" Jun gave him an innocent face.
Soo-Bi shook her head.
"And if I'm a judge, I can just marry you and get it over with." she opened her textbook, leaving both Soo Hyun and Yeo Jun to look at her, each feeling a little shy.
Neither came up with a retort.
Two months ago, two of the most popular young men in Myeongil university officially became boyfriends.
Many hearts were broken when Yeo Jun officially declared he was no longer single.
Just as many crushes were birthed when people got a glimpse of the other side of Nam Soo Hyun, the one formerly declared to be the UP.
As boyfriends their bickering didn't stop but they each knew the place they held in each other's hearts. In each other, they found just the right amount of light to illuminate their darkness.
Yeo Jun reflected.
Youth is like a lush, green spring. At a distance, spring is green.Look at it closer and you will see that is lusher and more dazzling.
                                                              5 Years Later
Yeo Jun frowned as he ran back to his car from his favourite coffee shop.
He didn't need to get close to know what yellow slip of paper stuck on his windshield was.
Sure there was a clear "No Parking" Sign there but he hadn't even been gone that long. He'd actually called in his order so he could just grab it and go.
He looked around, trying to find the culprit. Though he was clearly the offender, having violated the order by parking there in the first place, he still intended to argue his case.
As he began walking to the car, he could see the officer sitting inside, his head down as he wrote something. He rapped on the window.."Excuse me officer...I.."
The rest of his words dried up when the handsome officer looked up at him.
"You what?" Nam Soo Hyun asked
"Soo Hyun." Yeo Jun was surprised to see his husband. "You wrote me this ticket?"
"I did." Soo Hyun confirmed.
"But why?"
"You were parked in a no parking zone." he replied matter-of-factly.
"How did you know I was..." He was about to ask him how he knew he was here but he knew the answer to that. He'd told him himself. Just before he arrived Soo Hyun had called to ask him where he was. He'd told him he was about to grab coffee from his favourite shop. "Did you come all the way here to write me a ticket?"
"No.I came here because I missed you and I happened to be close by." Soo Hyun replied, looking at his husband.
"But you wrote me a ticket." Jun was still trying to process it.
"You're parked in the no parking zone."
"But you're my husband.." Jun persisted
Soo Hyun sighed and looked at him. "It's because I'm your husband that you should think twice about breaking the law."
Yeo Jun pouted. "It's not like I killed anyone." he sulked. Soo Hyun looked at him. "No wonder you're always getting commended. Officer Nam Soo Hyun never lets anyone off. Not even his own husband."
Soo Hyun got out of the car  and stood before Yeo Jun.Seeing him sulk, he smoothed his husband's dark hair.
"Nevermind. The fee is a small one. Not too much for a  novelist to pay."
Jun continued to pout. "It's not about the money." he complained. "You gave a ticket to your own husband."
Soo Hyun sighed and looked at him seriously. "Would you like me to give you a pass?"
Yeo Jun looked at his husband, standing proudly in his uniform. He smiled and shook his head. "No." he replied. With a mischievous glint in his eye, that teasing  smile Soo Hyun had seen so many times was on his lips "I'll just have to find a way to let the officer pay when he's off duty."
Soo Hyun's eyes widened, which caused Jun to laugh.
"Are you finished with your draft?" Soo Hyun changed the subject as he walked Jun back to his car.
"Almost." Jun confirmed.
"Good." Having arrived at Jun's car, Soo Hyun kissed his husband's forehead after making sure the coast was clear.
Yeo Jun touched his forehead and smiled.
"Get home safely." he cautioned.
"Yes officer." Jun teased before getting into his car.
Soo Hyun watched as Jun drove away.
They were both living the lives they wanted. Following the dreams and nurturing the love they'd birthed in their youth----together.
THE END
A/N Fanfic is over and thanks again for reading. I can put these two to rest, knowing they're together atleast one place in the world xD

At A Distance, Spring Is Green -BL Version (Yeo Jun x Nam Soo Hyun)-Chapter 21 : Let's Do It Together
"Hey. You didn't have to mention it openly." Soo Hyun said to Yeo Jun as they walked across campus.
"Why not?" Jun asked. "It doesn't faze me anymore."
"Take it easy." Soo Hyun cautioned. "Scars don't heal instantaneously."
"All I can come up with are the dark sides of youth." Jun confessed "But we'll start working on it though."Soo Hyun looked at him."Let's work on it together."
"Let's work on it together." Hadn't those been Yeo Jun's words?
Yet here he was, hands forming a perfect pillow for his sleeping head.
Soo Hyun looked at the person sleeping peacefully beside him.
For the most part they'd been clashing as they tried to work on the script, each being stubborn about how they thought it should be. Now that Yeo Jun was asleep, the task was solely his to finish.
He used his fingers to trace  a phantom line down the length of Yeo Jun's nose, down to his lips, careful not to touch him lest he rouse him from his slumber.
It really was strange how much he'd come to care for this person who he used to wish would just leave him alone.
Now he couldn't imagine his life without him.
Life hadn't granted him many breaks. In fact, it had been blow after blow. He almost mistook Yeo Jun for a disaster too.
This boy sleeping beside him wasn't a gentle wind. He was a stormy gale that blown into his life and turned everything on its head but he honestly couldn't say he wasn't better for it.
Yeo Jun smiled in his sleep. He looked so peaceful.
Soo Hyun smiled and shook his head before going back to work.
"Must Darkness be this mean?" Yeo Jun asked Soo Hyun as he read the script he'd handed to him not too long before.
"What do you mean?" Soo Hyun asked
'' 'Get Lost' is a bit harsh don't you think?" he pouted "It hurts to hear that."
"Then I chose the right words. They stirred up emotion." Soo Hyun replied.
"Then light should cry upon hearing them."
"Why would Light cry?"
"Who wouldn't?"
"Did you cry when I said it to you?" Soo Hyun asked.
"Of course not.I'm not Light am I?" Yeo Jun replied. "You're the one just like your character."
"I'm not as mean as Darkness." Soo Hyun defended himself.
"As if." Jun rolled his eyes "You're Darkness in the flesh." He looked at the script. "Why don't we change the name to yours?"
"You think I'm Darkness?" Soo Hyun asked "But this was creative writing."
"Check out these lines." Yeo Jun pointed to the script  "They're what you said to me." he clicked his tongue. "Unbelievable. My poor old self." he lamented. "What did I even like about you?" He looked at Soo Hyun. "I'm ticked off just by looking at you."
Soo Hyun looked at him. "Let's put it to a vote."
"Put what to a vote?"
"What do you think? Of course it's about Darkness."
"You act exactly like Darkness would." Yeo Jun insisted.
"I'm nothing like Darkness."
"You so are."
"You're not Light or Darkness. You're Mr. Ambiguous." Soo Hyun took shots at Jun.
The group was thoroughly impressed when Yeo Jun showed them the script.
"Who do you think Darkness is like?" Soo Hyun asked.
They all looked at him.
"Me?" he pointed to himself.
They all nodded their heads.
"Shouldn't you play this role?" Hye-Ji asked. "You'd be killer in it since it's just like you."
The others laughed.
"Aren't Light's lines better?" Yeo Jun asked.
"I'm loving the banter between Darkness and Light." Soo-Bin replied "Maybe it's because you bicker all the time." she looked at Soo Hyun.
"I just did a good job on the script." Yeo Jun said. "Maybe I should be a novelist. I didn't know I had this talent."
"Don't waste your time and dream of doing something else." an offended Soo Hyun frowned "I only say this for your sake."
"No way." Yeo Jun replied. "I'll be a grand novelist."
"Why you.."
"I'll be a grand novelist."
The others laughed, watching the interaction between the two.
Since the script was complete. The team went straight to the next step, shooting.
Yeo Jun was cast as Light while Kim Hye-Joon played the role of Darkness.
They had a week to complete the project, both shooting and postproduction.
The journey was fraught with challenges at times based on their different points of views and personalities .They would often clash about which way to do what but somehow, miraculously, they didn't end up strangling each other.
Along the way they found things in common and shared laughs together. Before they knew it, the whole thing was done.
The only thing left for them to do was present.
"Not being able to understand each other always has them clashing." Yeo Jun recited as he paced the living room, presentation notes in hand.
Soo Hyun frowned.
"Must you act like you've worked on this project alone?"
Yeo Jun looked at him. "Should I forget my lines and tank the project?"
"I bet you've already memorized your lines." Soo Hyun retorted.  "From what I saw at the festival, you clearly don't have stage fright." he made reference to the student festival where Yeo Jun had bravely got up on stage and sang to the crowd.
Yeo Jun grinned. "I was born to take centerstage but knowing our team's fate is hanging in my hands is making me nervous"
"Why is our team's fate in your hands?"
"How about we discuss whose hands our team's fate is in tonight ?"
"Go to bed will you?" Soo Hyun told him "Being tired leads to under-performing."
Yeo Jun smiled at him and was silent for a moment before he looked at the script again. "Our elders often say that we should sever ties with those we don't get along with." He leaned closer to Soo Hyun who was trying his best to ignore him "Don't waste time on relationships."
"Oi. You." Soo Hyun reached out and grabbed Yeo Jun by the waist, pulling him into the sofa beside him.
"What are you doing?" Yeo Jun asked, surprised by this sudden attack.
Soo Hyun swiftly grabbed the script from Yeo Jun's hand, wearing a smug smile.
"Hey! Yeo Jun protested. "Give it back."
Soo Hyun looked at him and pulled him closer, nestling him on his chest. "Go to bed." he stroked his hair gently.
"I'm not tired." Yeo Jun complained. "I'm actually very wired. Full of energy.I feel like I could run a marathon!"
Soo Hyun sighed. This kind of behaviour was classic Yeo Jun. He looked at his smiling face under the mess of golden locs.
Leaning in, he placed a gentle kiss of Yeo Jun's pouty mouth. "Anything else?"
"Wha--what are you doing?" Yeo Jun asked in surprise, shrinking back as  Soo Hyun's hand began to creep up his chest.
"Will you go to bed or not?" Soo Hyun asked, his voice sinking to a seductive pitch.
"I'm not tired."
"Okay." Soo Hyun kissed Jun's neck. "Then I'll just.." he didn't finish his thought as he kissed another place on his neck.
Yeo Jun closed his eyes and bit his bottom lip. "Mmm..I don't want to be tired. You said being tired might make me underperform."
Soo Hyun found  a new spot on his neck to kiss. "Did I say that?"
Yeo Jun frowned, attempting to push him away. "You did!"
Refusing to be parted that easily from him, Soo Hyun maneuvered his body so that he was directly on top of Yeo Jun. Pinning his wrists on either side of him, he kissed him again.
Yeo Jun responded to Soo Hyun's kisses. His lips parted and their passion ignited.
Pretty soon he forgot about the presentation altogether as Soo Hyun hoisted him in his arms, transporting him to the bedroom.
Yeo Jun was laying on the bed on his back, their eyes locked.
"Jun.."
"Hmm?"
"I like you"
Yeo Jun smiled up at Soo Hyun. "I like you too...Darkness." he threw in a tease. Before Soo Hyun could retort or protest, he pulled him on to himself. Kissing him.
"We only have one more group to hear from." Professor Park announced  the next day as they sat in class. "Will the presenter please come forward?"
Yeo Jun and Soo Hyun exchanged glances, smiling at each other.
"I'll be doing the presentation." Yeo Jun confidently raised his hand.
"Are you sure?" Professor Park asked, hands casually stuck in his pockets. "But you're a freshman." he smiled at Yeo Jun "Although I guess it doesn't matter." He shifted to the side of the stage "Ok. Let's begin."
Yeo Jun made his way to the front of the room. His eyes found Soo Hyun and he nodded at him.
"We have created a PR video for MM, the shopping mall for 20 somethings who respect various styles . Here's how the story goes: The two who represent the light and darkness  of our youth are different in every aspect." He looked at Nam Soo Hyun. "Their background, preference in food and everything in general. Not being able to understand each other always has them clashing. But then they realize that the other is only different. Not wrong or defected. Two very different individuals meet in one world, argue, hurt one another but end up falling in love. Please enjoy the video."
Along with the whole class, Yeo Jun and Soo Hyun watched the presentation. While the story unfolded anew to the others, each of them saw much more. They each saw a reflection of themselves. Watching it was like watching a trailer of their own lives and the things they'd experienced together. Their rocky start, the tension between them, the way they'd hurt each other until they finally got to a clearing where they allowed themselves to be one, inspite of their many differences.
Soo Hyun smiled. He never imagined he would feel this way about that clingy, annoying person standing on the stage.
"Our elders often say this." Yeo Jun spoke again after the video ended. " Don't waste time on relationships.'Sever ties with people you don't click with.', 'Don't devote yourself', 'It won't matter when you're old',' whether its family or friends, money takes priority'. When we're older, we'll probably say this to others as well. But even they valued relationships highly in their youth. Which led to sleepless nights being in love, then brokenhearted, then being in love and then brokenhearted again. So this is how we define youth. A time in our lives when we are brave enough to befriend just about anyone. Even though we'll regret it someday , we'll take centerstage in our youth. To love, to be hurt and then to love again with all our hearts."
The room erupted into applause.
Soo Hyun smiled at Yeo Jun, giving him a thumbs up.
"Nicely done." Gung-Ho commended Jun as he took his place beside Soo Hyun once more.
"So how was it to work with your former teammates?" Professor Park addressed the students. "Was it still your worst experience? Do you still find humans to be evil?"
"No." Gung-Ho replied
"I'm glad." Chun-Guk added.
"Professor. If you will permit me. I would like to show another video." Kim Soo-Bin raised her hand.
"Of what?" Professor Park enquired.
She got up from her seat and made her way to the multimedia set where she played the file.
All the curious eyes focused front to see what would be played.
As they watched, they saw clips of the group as they worked on the project. While they worked to film, someone had been covertly filming their interactions. This group that initially could not even decide on the type of project to work on in the beginning were laughing and happily supporting each other as they worked towards their common goal.
Yeo Jun and Soo Hyun smiled at each other once more.
"The group that won first prize for this project." Professor Park stood before the class once more a few minutes later "is the group that went last. Nam Soo Hyun's group."
The members of the group celebrated while the class applauded.
One student in the corner raised his hand. "What's the reason? I want the know what your scores were based on."
"You want to know? It's their teamwork." he replied simply "Different individuals came together and produced an amazing result.I gave the highest score to the team who showed what it means to be in a team the best." Professor Park looked around the room. "Any objections?"
There were none.
"I guess it's possible to get first place." Chun-Guk said, in a daze as they sat at their booth.
"This is the first time I came in first place during in a project since school started." Gung-Ho couldn't contain his excitement.
"Oh.Who filmed the making?" Soo Hyun asked.
"Hye-Yoon." So-Bin replied. She smiled at her friends. "I guess you should never really trust rumors. The rumors about Hye-Yoon and you weren't true." she looked at Soo Hyun.
Yeo Jun had a mischievous glint in his eyes. "So all the rumors were fake?" he folded his arms across his chest. He looked at Soo Hyun. "Some of them were true."
Soo Hyun looked at Yeo Jun. The other laughed at the two.
"Let's reveal our Secret Santas." Soo Hyun suggested.
"You go first." Jun said to Soo Hyun, still with that mischievous look.
Soo Hyun looked at Yeo Jun in surprise. "You really don't know? I've done alot for you." he was very much grieved by Jun's ignorance on this matter.
"What? Really?" Yeo Jun couldn't resist keeping up the ruse. "Wow. I thought I didn't have a Secret Santa." he said to his friends.
Soo Hyun's eyes widened. "What?" He frowned. "When you had classes in the morning I woke you up three times. You didn't wake up though. When you left, I cleaned the bathroom. It was really hard but I didn't show it.I also prayed that you would find somebody you liked." He continued to list his deeds "I told you ways to get good grades but you were hardly listening and I saved you a seat in the lecture room."
Yeo Jun grinned. "I had no idea you were this talkative."
"Nam Soo Hyun, you were really serious about this Secret Santa thing huh?" Gung-Ho said
"Then let's cheers to my Secret Santa Nam Soo Hyun's happiness." Yeo Jun said. They all picked up their glasses. "Although.." he looked at Soo Hyun. "I thought you only did those things because you liked me." he couldn't resist teasing him once more.
Soo Hyun gaped at Jun's last statement. The others however, weren't the least bit shocked. They raised their glasses.
Cheers!
More than a few drinks later, the atmosphere at the table was very relaxed.
Gung-Ho and Chun-Guk each occupied one of Soo Hyun's shoulders.
"I was living a normal life. But you were living so diligently." A red faced Gung-Ho explained to Soo Hyun. "I was annoyed by it but I was also envious.I felt so pathetic. It was my inferiority complex.I'm so sorry." he rested his head on Soo Hyun's shoulder, hugging his arm.
"I'm sorry." Chun-Guk rested his head on the other shoulder, stroking the other arm.
Soo Hyun sighed deeply. He looked pleadingly to Yeo Jun, wanting desperately to be saved from this situation.
"Guys. Why doesn't anyone want to talk to me about their problems?"
"Jun. I just don't feel like talking to you." Gung-Ho replied. " You're just too well off."
"Gung-Ho. You can talk to me." Jun insisted. "Soo Hyun really can't empathize with people. No wonder people call him 'UP'."
Soo Hyun gave Jun an incredulous look.
"What?" Jun asked, looking at Soo Hyun "I didn't say anything wrong."
Soo Hyun frowned.
"Since you guys won't talk to me, then I'll talk to you." He looked at Soo Hyun. "I like Nam Soo Hyun."
Everyone at the table turned to look at Yeo Jun.Chun-Guk and Gung-Ho both sat up straight in their chairs.
Soo Hyun raised a brow at Yeo Jun who raised his shoulders in response.
"Mm..We know." Gung-Ho waved Yeo Jun away, returning to Soo Hyun's shoulder.
"What? You know?" It was Jun's turn to b surprised.
"Mmm..we know. We figured it out." Hye-Jie added.
Jun looked at Soo Hyun. All along he thought he'd been guarding some kind of secret about his feelings but this turned out to not the case.
Soo Hyun was still staring at him. Jun winked at him with a smile

At A Distance, Spring Is Green -BL Version (Yeo Jun x Nam Soo Hyun)-Chapter 20 : Light and Darkness
"Let's talk about what we thought about the other group's presentation." Soo Hyun addressed his team mates for the group project.
"They were good." Yeo Jun replied.
Kim So-Bin, "They were creative and I liked their stories."
"Why do you ask?" Gung-Ho questioned.
"We won't get the highest mark at this rate." Soo Hyun answered.
Surprised, Gung-Ho looked at Soo Hyun. "You wanted to get the highest mark?"
Chun-Guk elbowed his friend. "He always gets the highest marks."
"We'll try to make our story stand out." Soo Hyun went back to addressing the group. "But it has limits. Do you have any other ideas?"
"Then why don't we focus on casting?" Jun suggested.
"What or who did you have in mind?" Soo Hyun was curious.
Yeo Jun smiled at him. "Leave it to me."
The group was gathered for the next meeting.
"Did you find someone to cast?" Soo Hyun asked.
Yeo Jun looked at him. "I told you I'd take care of it."
"Who is it?"
"Kim Hye-Yoon."
"Why her?" Soo Hyun questioned.
"She reminds me of you when we first met." Jun replied.
"What?" Soo Hyun looked at him
"Is she a psycho too?" Gung-Ho asked. Everyone at the table looked at him. "Ahh..I mean, is she a unique soul as well?" he tried to cover his blunder.
"Did she agree to it?" Soo Hyun asked
"She would like to know the concept first." Soo-Bin informed him.
"The concept will be a bright and vibrant youth." Yeo Jun piped up.
"Would displaying a fantasy work?" Soo Hyun looked at Yeo Jun "It'll only seem unrealistic."
"I also agree that it should be more realistic." Chun-Guk added.
"So you want to go for hyperrealism?" Jun asked. "This is a PR video, not a documentary.Tough reality isn't what we wish to see in ad campaigns."
"That could be true for a commercial ad. We'd be right to only highlight the joy of youth. But this is a school assignment." pointed out
"Must it be heavy and dark though?" Jun countered.
"Let's be mindful of Professor Park's lessons. Would highlighting the positive side of youth speak out to him?"
"It only has to be fun and exude positive energy." Yeo Jun wasn't backing down "There's no need to consider the professor's preferences."
"But our grades are on the line." Soo Hyun looked at the stubborn person sitting across from him "Although, as a freshman, you probably wouldn't care."
"What does being a freshman have to do with this?"
"Team Leader is right you know." Gung-Ho spoke. "As you all know,  I tanked my last assignment."
"I need a good score to make up for it." Chun-Guk finished Gung-Ho's thought.
"Me too." Hye-Jie agreed
"Still. What's fun to do leads to a good outcome." Kim Soo-Bin  offered her thoughts
Soo Hyun sighed. "I see we can't get on the same page." He closed his notebook "Well I have a class to get to."
He stood to his feet and looked at Yeo Jun. "I'll be home late after my shift."
Jun looked at him and pouted "I won't be home anyway."
Soo Hyun shook his head and slung his bag over his shoulder.
The others looked at the retreating Soo Hyun and the pouting Yeo Jun. These two were definitely giving off a weird vibe.
'"Is something up between you and Soo Hyun?" Kim Soo-Bin asked Yeo Jun as they walked to lunch like always.
"No." he replied. "We're as good as ever."
"I think you should reconsider his proposal."
Yeo Jun looked at her in surprise. "Weren't you taking my side earlier?Make up your mind."
Soo-Bin chuckled. "I'm not really taking sides. I just think it might be better to show our realities and not just the positive side of things."
"My life is actually pretty dark." Yeo Jun sighed. "Or it used to be.But wouldn't we want to remember only happy memories when we look back at these times?"
"But the one in pain is still you as well." Soo-Bin replied.
"I'd rather discard him somewhere." Yeo Jun confessed.
"He still helped to make you who you are today."
"I guess you're right."
"Won't it be uncomfortable at home with Soo Hyun?"
Yeo Jun smiled. "Soo Hyun is prickly but he is not one to stay angry."
"You know him so well now." Soo-Bin said.
Yeo Jun looked at the clock by his bedside. 9pm. Soo Hyun had been home for atleast half an hour but he hadn't come close to him even once.
Prior to his arrival he'd been sitting in the living room waiting. When he heard the door lock he made a mad dash to the bedroom to save face a little.
Now so much time had passed and he hadn't even come to say hello. He was sure he knew he was home.
Was he really holding a grudge?
Jun frowned.
Since Soo Hyun wasn't coming in, he would just go out and appear in his line of vision. He didn;t have to speak, he just needed him to see him.
Settled on that idea, Jun left the room. He was just at the bathroom door when he came face to face with Soo Hyun. They looked at each other before awkwardly looking away simultaneously.
"You should go first." Yeo Jun pointed to the bathroom door.
"No, you go ahead."
"I'm not that desperate you know." Jun insisted.
"Me neither."
"Elders first." Jun said
"It doesn't extend to peeing." Soo Hyun made a face.
Yeo Jun nodded. "Right. Since I'm younger, I'll go first."
Soo Hyun put out a hand to stop him. "No. I'll go first." he hastily stepped inside and closed the door behind him.
With Soo Hyun inside, Jun knocked on the door. "Just so you know, I really do need to go."
When Soo Hyun exited the bathroom, Yeo Jun was still waiting outside. Without a word, he stepped by him and made a beeline for the sofa.
A few minutes later Yeo Jun appeared.
"I'm craving a late night snack." he said, loud enough for Soo Hyun to hear.  "Maybe Pizza? or Fried Chicken?" Soo Hyun pretended not to hear "Tteokbokki?"
Jun pouted. He really was ignoring him.
Leaving Soo Hyun in the living room, he made his way to the kitchen.
A short while after, a delicious smell permeated the air.
"Gosh. This looks so good." Jun squealed as he stirred the pot. "I wonder how far the smell will travel."
Soo Hyun continued to pillow his head on his hands as he laid down in the sofa.
"Mm..This is too much for one person." Yeo Jun continued to speak loudly. "I guess I have no choice. I'll just have to throw it away."
Soo Hyun grunted and got up off the couch, making his way to the kitchen.
"What?" he raised a brow when Yeo Jun looked at him.
"This is just for me." Yeo Jun said "It's only one portion."
"One portion?" Soo Hyun questioned. "People just love to waste food."
Yeo Jun smiled at him. "Have some." he gave Soo Hyun a portion.
Soo Hyun dug in immediately.
"If there weren't any food you'd pretend to be asleep." Yeo Jun
"Why are you so worked up over this assignment?" Soo Hyun asked
"I'm not."
"Is it the assignment or are there hard feelings towards me?" Soo Hyun was curious.
"I'm against that dark concept you suggested." Yeo Jun confessed.
"It's weird that you're this invested in it."
"I guess that's true." Jun agreed "But aren't you sick of it? It's been hard enough for us. Why must the assignment---"
"We should view reality as it is." Soo Hyun cut him off.
"Can't we escape it though?" Jun asked. "Once we run away from it we'll one day see that we escaped from it."
"One should try to overcome hardships." Soo Hyun disagreed.
"I don't want to do it right now though." Jun stated.
Soo Hyun looked at him "Will putting it off make it any better?"
"It could."
"As your senior I know---"
"You're playing the age card?" Yeo Jun cut him off.
"You're a freshman." Soo Hyun reminded him.
"As if that matters,old man."
Soo Hyun blinked. Old man?
"Some people cannot escape reality even if they want to." his voice was passionate. "We're already on the edge of a cliff."
"Are you challenging me to see who has it worse?" Yeo Jun asked
"Should we do it?" Soo Hyun challenged
"Bring it on!" Jun was defiant.
Kim Soo-Bin looked from one person to the other. Neither Yeo Jun nor Soo Hyun were saying anything. In fact, they weren't even looking at each other.
"What's with you two today?" she asked.
Yeo Jun, "What do you mean?" he smiled at her. "Do I perhaps look more handsome today?"
Soo Hyun rolled his eyes and clocked his tongue "What a narcissist."
Jun's eyes widened. "What did you just call me?" He looked at Soo Hyun "More you than me though."
They glared at each other.
"Don't tell me you two argued all night." Soo-Bin looked from one to the other. Each of them fell silent again "Or perhaps you were drinking all night without me."
"All night," Yeo Jun replied "We had tteokbokki."
"Tteokbokki?" Soo-Bin looked at Soo Hyun who nodded.
Just then his phone rang and Soo Hyun walked away. By his greeting, the other two knew it was his brother on the line.
"With his brother he's always the sweetest." Jun pouted.
Soo-Bin smiled. "Are you jealous.?"
"As if." Jun rolled his eyes. "We just don't click."
Soo-Bin laughed "But you like him alot right?" Yeo Jun bit his lip. "They say marital disputes never last long." Soo-Bin patted his shoulder comfortingly.
"Stop teasing ." he said to his friend.
"Why is my ear itchy?" Soo Hyun stuck a finger in his ear.
"Someone must be talking smack about you." his little brother replied. "So be nicer."
"Why are you here when you should be busy studying? What's the gift?"
His brother beamed at him "My gift? It's me." he made a cute pose.
Soo Hyun laughed and playfully pulled his brother's ear. "I hope you didn't spend too much."
"I didn't." Koo Hyun replied, reaching for something in his backpack on the ground beside them. "Here." he handed a brown book to Soo Hyun. "Mom sent it by post and told me to hand it to you."
"What is it?" Soo Hyun looked at the book.
"Dad's journal."
"But why?--" Soo Hyun continued to look at it
"Mom said you wanted to be a cop just like dad. I had no idea. You  work shift after shift so that you can fund whatever dream I have"
"Why did she tell you that when it was way in the past?"
"Soo Hyun. Don't send money for my rent for for mom to spend." Koo Hyun said "You even paid back Dad's debt."
"Why are you saying this?" Soo Hyun asked "I'm fine."
"Well I'm not." his brother objected. "You should do what you want to do as well."
"Koo Hyun--"
"I'm an adult now. You made sure I grew up with a pretty face." his brother smiled at him "Want to send me to an orphanage now?"
Soo Hyun smiled at brother who was indeed not so little anymore.
Nam Soo Hyun looked at the book as he made his way to class. It was like a relic, a reminder of a dream long forgotten. Indeed it was true, once upon a time, just like his father he'd wanted to be a policeman.
He'd put on his father's uniform which was two sizes too big. He'd even saluted, promising his father that one day, one fine day, the Nam men would take a photo side by side in their uniforms.
That promise was never to be fulfilled.
His father left way too early and he had to grow up way too soon to shoulder the responsibilities left by behind.
Those dreams he had were left behind on a shelf, forgotten to collect dust.
Forward, he only had to move forward. The past was in the past and so, he made his way to class.
"Soo Hyun. Can we talk?" Yeo Jun caught up to Soo Hyun in the hallway."
"We're late for your team gathering." Soo Hyun pointed out.
"It won't matter if we're late."
"We made a promise with your teammates. So of course it matters." Soo Hyun replied before walking away.
Yeo Jun sighed and followed behind. If only he would just hear him out first.
When they arrived, everyone else had gathered and they got right down to business.
"The last time we couldn't decide what concept to go with." Soo-Bin opened, looking from Yeo Jun to Soo Hyun.
"I have a solution." Yeo Jun spoke up, bringing all eyes to focus on him "Let's do both. We can blend the concepts."
The others thought about it, nodding silently at the proposal.
"Soo Hyun. Are you okay with that?" Soo-Bin asked apprehensively.
With Soo Hyun's nod, they reached a consensus.
"So Darkness will be a character representing the dark side of youth." Yeo Jun explained. "While light will represent it's beauty ."
"We'll have darkness realizing the light within it after meeting light." Soo-Bin picked up "Who lives in a completely different world. What do you say?"
"We're out of time. So let's do that." Soo Hyun gave the greenlight.
"Then we should all tell our stories." Yeo Jun said. "Regarding the light and shadow of youth."
An awkward silence descended on the table as they looked at each other.
"It's our team project. So it should be about us." Yeo Jun said.
"While sober?" Gung-Ho asked.
"My life only knows darkness." Chun-Guk said
"I have nothing to add ." Hye-Jiecontributed
"We'll start with the team leader then." Yeo Jun looked at Soo Hyun. "Tell us about your shadows."
"Well...not being financially stable really took a toll on my life." Soo Hyun began "And it still does"
Gung-Ho cleared his throat. "I was most depressed before serving in the military ."
"Whenever my future seems uncertain. I escape reality through playing video games." Chun-Guk confessed.
"I had too many thoughts and worries which led me to lack confidence." Kim Soo-Bin said her piece. "It's why I gave up on things without even trying."
"What about you Hye-Ji?"
"Life hasn't been hard for me, but I've been stuck recently. It's not completely dark though."
Everyone looked at Yeo Jun.
"I--"
"Don't force a sob story." Gung-Ho chided "As if you've had it hard."
"We all spoke so--" Soo Hyun tried to intervene
"I haven't yet" Yeo Jun corrected, in a soft but firm voice.
Soo Hyun looked at him "You don't have to since you're highly against the shadows of our youth." he kept his eyes on him "I respect everyone's opinions"
"Now you do?" Yeo Jun had a determined look in his eyes.
Yeo Jun looked at Gung-Ho. "I see you haven't read the article on my father."
Soo Hyun sighed.
"Was an article published on his wealth and fame?" Gung-Ho asked, excited.
"I lived many years in darkness." Jun avoided Soo Hyun's eyes, knowing he was looking directly at him. "Due to my father's physical abuse."
Shock silence rippled across everyone's faces.
"Jun.." Soo-Bin said
"Don't  you worry though. I'm all better." He finally looked at Soo Hyun "I'm in the light."
Soo Hyun looked at him. "See?" Yeo Jun said. "I told you we should have stuck to the lighter side of youth."

At A Distance, Spring Is Green -BL Version (Yeo Jun x Nam Soo Hyun)-Chapter 19 : I'm free
"I'm sorry ." Chun-Guk hung his head.
"You should apologize to So-Bin. Not to me." Jun replied.
"So-Bin is who I am here to apologize to. How else could I show my face at school? But then I spotted you and I owe you an apology as too, so." His head dipped lower. "I'll take some time off from school after this semester "
"You've changed." Jun observed
"A trip to the police station can knock some sense into you.I looked back on my past choices . It's scary there . I don't want to even go near one again. My life as a student here is over.I'll be a ghost and disappear once I graduate ."
"As if you're dead?" Jun asked.
Those words evoked a kind of sadness in Yeo Jun as he reflected on the life he'd lived thus far.
"You shouldn't live your life like that." he told Chun-Guk.
"What?" the boy was surprised.
"Make it right." Jun advised. "Everyone can start over you know." He paused. "Although, enough with the violence. That only leaves wounds.More deeply on one's heart than on the flesh."
A tearful Chun-Guk nodded. "Right.I'm sorry."
Seeing that Jun was gone for a bit, Soo Hyun came to find him.
"Are you alright?" he asked Yeo Jun as he stood with Chun-Guk.
Jun smiled at him "I'm okay." he confirmed. "Let's get to class."
There was a stunned silence that fell over the classroom when Chun-Guk walked in.Everyone on campus knew what he'd done to So-Bin.
Steeling himself, he walked to the front of the lecture hall.
"What's he doing?" Gung-Ho wondered aloud.
"I have something to say publicly." Chun-Guk began. "Kim So-Bin,I'm sorry." he looked at her. "I made a mistake---no. It was wrong of me. Please forgive me."
The silence morphed into awkwardness for So-Bin as all eyes turned to look at her to see how she would respond. "I get it.So please stop." she replied. "Just make sure you don't hurt anyone in the same way again."
Chun-Guk fell to his knees infront of everyone. "I won't do it ever again!" he bowed his head "Kim So-Bin. I'm sorry." He repeated this over and over. Over and over until tears flowed, cutting a most pitiful picture as everyone watched in shock.
"I get it. So please stop saying my name." So-Bin dashed to the front of the room to soothe Chun-Guk but he refused to be soothed. His tears and apologies became more fervent as his own guilt and grief consumed him.
When Yeo Jun arrived, So-Bin was still busy trying to calm Chun-Guk down. He looked at Chun-Guk knowing that people had to pay for the wrongs they did and none were exempt.
"The semester is almost over. Too bad isn't it?" Professor Park addressed the class
"No Wayyy." the students chorused
Professor Park ignored their response. "I know that you're sad it's almost over which is why I'm giving out an assignment." A collective groan spread among the students. "It can be a company, a brand, or product. Decide on one as a team and film a PR video.Content and format are all at your discretion. Doesn't it sound like fun?"
There was no enthusiasm to be found.
Soo Hyun raised his hand. "Will it be part of our grade?"
"You'll be tested on the content of the last team project.Your final grade will be a half this and a half that." Professor Park explained. "Those who tanke the team project, this is your chance to make up for it.I'll be grading you on planning, creativity and execution so play your roles within your teams."
Yeo Jun's hand shot up next "Do we choose our teams freely like the last time?"
"Your teams?" Professor Park considered. "Stick to your old ones." There was an even bigger groan from the students this time. "This is how most of you felt according to the review of the team project.I don't want the activity to be a negative experience, so I'm giving you another chance." He looked at their anxious faces. "Why? Are you dreading to work again with people that you hate?"
"Yes!" the class replied in unison
"Enduring those you hate and finding a way to overcome that hardship are part of being in society . Trust me and give it another shot. Dismissed." He began to walk away. "Oh. One more thing. During the project, why not play Secret Santa with your teammates?"
More complaints from the students.
Are you serious?
Who would do that?
What?
Secret Santa?
"Secret Santa?" Chun-Guk thought out loud. "As if it wouldn't be obvious. What if I got So-Bin?"
"She might report you for stalking." Gung-Ho replied. "It's dangerous."
Soo Hyun spun in his seat and looked at Jun and So-Bin. "Let's discuss it right away."
"Where should we go?" Jun asked. "Someplace fancy--" he began to say as he usually did before he made a realization. "I don't have my credit card."
"The school cafeteria will do."So-Bin said.
"I'd like to buy drinks for everyone, as a means to apologize." Chun-Guk said.
Yeo Jun looked at So-Bin. "You don't have to go if you don't want to."
"Well I'm going to go." Soo Hyun spoke up. "I'm not a part of this."
"I'll go." So-Bin spoke up. "If everyone else goes. We can decide on the Secret Santa when we get there"
Soo Hyun sighed as everyone walked away.
"Let's go." Yeo Jun pulled him along.
6 pieces of paper sat in the middle of the table, each with a name written on it.
Yeo Jun was the first to go. He unfolded his paper, took a look, said nothing.
"What's wrong ? is it me?" Chun-Guk asked.
"Could be." Jun looked at him."Next." he encouraged the other person to go.
Soo Hyun picked his paper next. He unfolded his paper and took a look. One second later, much to everyone's surprise, he refilled Yeo Jun's empty glass.
"What are you doing?" Jun looked at him "Did you pick me?"
Soo Hyun looked at him and took his seat "Of course not."
So-Bin laughed "You're already caught Soo Hyun."
The others picked.
There were a few  frowns  as some people seemed displeased at the end of the draw
"So what does a Secret Santa have to do?" Soo Hyun asked.
"Whatever works." Jun replied. He looked at Soo Hyun. "Why? What are you going to do for me?"
"Huh?" Soo Hyun was surprised. "What? I'm not your Secret Santa so don't get the wrong idea."
Jun smiled at him.
"You guys can order whatever you want." Chun-Guk announced. "Jun doesn't have to pay for anything."
"I'm not the ATM anymore. I don't have a gold card." Jun said
"Congratulations on becoming human." Soo Hyun teased with a smile.
"You've changed Soo Hyun." So-Bin observed with a smile.
Soo Hyun schooled his smile "Since we're done with the Secret Santa, let's talk about the group project."
So-Bin's smile faded. "You really haven't changed."
"Come on guys! Let's drink! Cheers!" Gung-Ho roused everyone.
"You have to do it too Soo Hyun." So-Bin encouraged.
Awkwardly, Soo Hyun raised his glass and clinked with his colleagues.
"Yeo Jun. Wake up. You're going to be late for class." Soo Hyun tried to rouse the sleeping person.
"Okay. Five more minutes." Jun replied.
"I can't let this slide for your sake." Soo Hyun was determined. With one yank, he pulled the covers from Yeo Jun and began to tickle him. "Wake up!"
"Ahhhh" Yeo Jun screamed and laughed "Stop! Stop being my Secret Santa!"
"Wake up." Soo Hyun continued his efforts. "You're going to be late for class."
"Let me sleep just a little more." Jun begged.
"You're going to be late. Just get up." Soo Hyun didn't stop touching him.
"Please...Just leave me alone!" Jun screamed, as he flailed in the bed.
"If you don't get up. I'm going to do worse things to you." Soo Hyun threatened.
Worse? What could be worse than being harassed like this when he just wanted to sleep.
"I'm going to count to three." he warned.
Yeo Jun thrashed about in his bed like a spoilt child
"One..."
Yeo Jun was still stubborn
"Two..."
Jun tried to maintain his steely determination..
"Three.."
Unwilling to risk whatever could possibly come next, Yeo Jun threw off the covers and sat up in bed.
Seeing this, Soo Hyun smiled at him and gave him a quick peck on the lips. "Good boy."
Tricked! Yeo Jun frowned a little but smiled in the next instant, touching the lips Soo Hyun had kissed.
Kissed or not, Jun was still sleepy. He yawned as they walked up the steps of their school 20 minutes later.
"Thanks to me you won't be late for class." Soo Hyun said proudly.
Jun yawned again. "Thanks alot."  He pouted. "Who is my Secret Santa? He's not doing anything for me."
Soo Hyun looked at him "Maybe your Secret Santa is just that good. You don't even know what he did for you."
Yeo Jun smiled and shook his head. Soo Hyun was really an easy person to tease.
A second later, Soo Hyun swept Jun's schoolbag from his shoulder and sped up, leaving him behind.
At this, Jun shook his head "Yes, I have no idea. He is really good."
"How's your script going?" So-Bin asked Jun as they sat in the courtyard.
"Don't get me started.I'm not getting enough sleep because of my creativity and my Secret Santa wakes me up early in the morning every day." he complained
So-Bin laughed.
"It's not funny." Jun continued to complain
"But a part of you likes it right?"
Yeo Jun thought about it for a moment. She was right. Living with and liking Soo Hyun, he liked it very much.
"Look at your face." So-Bin teased. "No need to say anything. It's written so clearly."
Yeo Jun blushed. "Back to the project."
"I don't know who to cast." So-Bin said. "If your writing is good and I cast badly, it will be all for naught and I don't have any connections like you."
"I'm sure it'll be fine."
"Perhaps we can cast you." So-Bin suggested. "Myungil University's hottest guy Yeo Jun."
"Hmm..but can you afford my fees?" Jun teased.
"I'll ask your Secret Santa to help me." So-Bin half teased, half threatened.
"No no no no nevermind.I'll do it." he gave in "I'll even do it for free."
Kim So-Bin laughed.
Yeo Jun was the first to get home that night. As expected, Soo Hyun would be working until late.
"There's nothing in here." he said to himself with a pout after checking the fridge. "I'll just order in."
He was about to dial when the doorbell rang.
"Doesn't he have work? And did that smartypants forget the passcode?" he smiled to himself as he walked to the door.
Yeo Jun opened the door and his smell immediately vanished when he came face to face with his father.
Disheveled and reeking of alcohol, he drunkenly pushed past Yeo Jun and stepped into his apartment.
"Hey. Where is your mom?" he asked, stumbling forward. "Come out!" he called.  He pointed an accusing finger at Yeo Jun "Bring her to me now."
"Why are you looking for mom? You have no right." Yeo Jun replied.
His father was stumbling about, checking room by room. "What? I have no right?" He looked at Jun "Do you know what I'm going through because of you?"
"Why is that my fault? It's your own fault."
"How dare you talk back to me?" his father stepped closer.
Yeo Jun stepped back. "So many people have suffered because of your abusive behaviours. Why must you be like this. Why?" he screamed.
"You arrogant brat.Hey." he poked Jun in the forehead "Who's supporting you financially? do you earn money? Whose money is this?" He kicked Jun's furniture and flipped a stool "Whose money is all this?"
"Do you earn money so you have a reason to beat us?" Yeo Jun asked
"What?" his father was taken aback
"Just get the punishment you deserve, apologize to everyone, and start over."
"You little.." his father raised his hand to hit him.
"Enough, seriously!' Yeo Jun screamed, catching that abusive hand. "That kid that used to shudder in fear after getting beaten up by you is dead now." he threw his father's hand, causing him to stumble a little. "If you lay a finger on Jun Wan or mom again, it won't end with just calling the cops."
"Hey." his father shrugged himself out of his jacket. "Even you look down on my now?" he threw the piece of clothing to the floor.
"Dad." Yeo Jun looked at the pitiful person he used to fear. "Dad.That's all in your head. Please let it go and stop being delusional."
"Delusional?"
"No one looks down on you.You are the one who looks down on yourself. You're torturing yourself!"
His father didn't say another word.
Grabbing his jacket from the floor, he stumbled towards the door, going back the way he'd come.
After his father left, a shaking Yeo Jun sat in the sofa to calm himself, not even bothering to fix the items his father had toppled.
"Jun Wan" he called his brother.
[Hey Jun]
"I just called to hear your voice."
[Good. I'm glad you called.] Silence hung on the line [Is everything ok?] Jun Wan asked
"Yes.Everything's good.Sweet Dreams."
[You too.]
When Soo Hyun arrived home, things were still toppled. Yeo Jun was sitting alone in the dark.
"What's wrong?" he asked swiftly lodging himself beside Yeo Jun on the sofa.
Jun looked at him and smiled. "Nothing."
"What happened?" Soo Hyun pressed.
Yeo Jun continued to smile. "I'm free." he replied, resting a head on Soo Hyun's shoulder.
Soo Hyun didn't understand but he allowed Jun to rest his head while he stroked his hair.

At A Distance, Spring Is Green -BL Version (Yeo Jun x Nam Soo Hyun)-Chapter 18 :I guess I'm grateful in a way
This room.
Being thrusted forcefully to the ground like this pulled Yeo Jun back into his dark past.
"Get in you little brat." his father spat casting the little boy aside without care. He grabbed an award from his desk and raised his hand high above his head "And you call yourself a man?" he hurled insults at the crying child.
Being in this room Yeo Jun could hear the screams and cries of his younger self.
"You don't want to?" His father was now angry. "How dare you? Say that again." His expression was ugly as he rolled up his sleeves. "Must I seem like a loser because of you?" he slammed his hand against the cabinet. "Must I? Must I Must I?" he slapped the furniture everytime he asked.
Yeo Jun watched . His horror and fear inextricably bound.
"You inept piece of trash!" he swept everything from his desk is a rage.  "Do you know what should become of useless brats like you?" he threw an item at Yeo Jun
His father reached for that trophy again and raised his hand.
Yeo Jun caught that raised hand, struggling to take that trophy away.
Outside the door, frantic banging could be heard
"Jun. Open the door! Jun!" Jun Wan called.
"Let go!" his father tried to free his hand.
"Father stop this..." Yeo Jun cried.
"Move!" his father bellowed, wrestling still
"Let go of me---"
"Please stop!"
"Jun open the door!"
It was a chaotic scene in the Yeo household.
"Let go!" his father finally managed to free himself, casting Yeo Jun once more to the floor.
He raised that trophy high above his head .."You little..."
With nowhere to run, Yeo Jun cradled his head and braced for impact.
The door suddenly flew open, halting everyone in their positions.
"Jun-Wan." his father was surprised.
Jun Wan looked at his father with bloodshot eyes.
"Jun Wan.." Yeo Jun's voice broke hen he saw his brother.
"Leave us." Jun Wan commanded his little brother, still looking at his father.
"Jun Wan...you see.." Yeo Jun tried to explain.
With tender eyes, Jun Wan looked at his little brother. "Go."
"Jun Wan.." Yeo Jun was trying his best not to cry.
Jun Wan reached out and helped his brother to his feet before ushering him out the door, closing it behind him.
With Yeo Jun gone, Jun Wan turned to his father who immediately dropped the trophy.
"Jun Wan. It's not like what you saw."
Jun Wan grabbed his father by the lapels "You.Have you been beating him behind my back?"
"Jun Wan. Listen to me," his father's words were a little slurred
Jun Wan tightened his hold "I warned you that Jun's off limits."
"But that little brat acted out.." his father replied.
That was it. Jun Wan threw his father into the table. Upon impact, his father groaned in pain.
"You've gotten weaker." Jun Wan said "It hurts me to see that.Doesn't this get old for you?" He took deliberate steps towards his father who was cowering at the desk. "Haven't you done this enough?Just stop darn it!" he shouted.
Yeo Jun stood powerlessly outside the door.
"What's going on?" his mother ran in, addressing a dazed Yeo Jun. He looked at her with blank eyes. "Tell me what's going on! Where's Jun Wan?"
Yeo Jun only continued to look.
Getting no response from her younger child, Yeo Jun's mother rattled the doorknob. Closed.
"Jun Wan." she banged on the door. "Jun Wan open up.."
Her cries and efforts to open the door became more frantic by the second.
Unable to watch, Yeo Jun attempted to pull his mother away.
"It's just like that day." she mumbled to herself with a distant look in her teary eyes. "This is that day all over again."
As he watched that pitiful figure on the ground, like a snapshot, a memory played before Yeo Jun's eyes. It was just like that time.
His mother was crying frantically as she fumbled with a bunch of keys, begging Jun Wan to open the door.
"Mommy. I'm sick." a young Yeo Jun complained.
"Step aside darn it!" his mother had screamed at the little boy before resuming her pleas to the person behind that closed door. "Jun Wan, please. Open the door."
Now there she was, crying on the floor again.
"Hello? Hello?" she dialled with trembling hands and an equally shaky voice "Please. Please save my son." she wailed.
All he could do was watch. He couldn't even comfort her.
"What's going to happen to father?" Yeo Jun asked as he and Jun Wan sat in the car outside his apartment.
"He'll be punished and the world will know about him." Jun Wan replied.
"So this is what it comes to?"
"Once the media gets wind of this, your life will be disrupted."
Yeo Jun looked at his brother. "It's alright. I'm no stranger when it comes to fame."
"I made up my mind the day I found out about you passed out from his beating. "Tears welled in Jun Wan's eyes. "That I'd protect you from him." It didn't take long for those tears to begin streaming "I thought I only had to cope with him alone. That I only had to keep you out of range.I believed it'd then be alright."
Yeo Jun looked at his brother. "Jun Wan."
"I'm sorry." Jun Wan apologized, crying still. "It made things worse for you." He looked at his little brother. "You used to be a pretty boy as bright as the sun "
"I'm still unbelievably pretty you know." Jun said "So don't worry. I'll shake this off and live a happy life as if nothing happened. What about you?"
"What?"
"What about your life? You never did anything you wanted and went down the path our parents wanted for you."
"I'm fine."
"You should live your life doing what you want to do."
"That doesn't exist."
"You should go on a date too." Jun said.
"How do I do that?" Jun Wan asked. "Take your own advice. Find someone you like and build a healthy relationship."
Jun thought about Soo Hyun. "I will." He looked at his brother "I'd rather you do things that are less by the book.Got it? I'll be watching you."
Jun Wan looked at him and smiled a little. "I'll get going." he exited the car.Standing by the window, he knocked. Jun Wan rolled down the window. "Get going." he told his brother. "I always walked away without seeing you off first."
Jun Wan smiled at him "Head inside."
"I won't until you go."
Jun Wan smiled and complied.
Yeo Jun watched as his brother drive away.
In a daze, Yeo Jun walked up to his apartment. Thoughts of his brother arrested him once more. All the things he'd said to him, the horrible ways he'd treated him. It made him sick to his stomach.
From memory, his body moved until he found himself at his door. Standing infront of his door, he was about to press the lock. He pressed the doorbell instead.
Ding Dong!
The door of room 201 opened.
There he was, standing in the doorway, looking at him from under those straight bangs.
"You're home." Soo Hyun greeted him.
Jun lifted his eyes and looked at him but couldn't say anything.
"What's wrong?" Soo Hyun asked
He could feel the tears.Brushing by Soo Hyun, he went inside.
"Jun." Soo Hyun called after him, stopping him in his tracks. "Are you alright? I'm worried about you."
Jun's shoulders began to shake as he cried.
Soo Hyun's heart jumped as he swiftly went to hold Jun's arm. "What's going on?"
Yeo Jun allowed his tears to flow, unrestrained .
Soo Hyun massaged his shoulder. Yeo Jun continued to cry.
"I'm here." he pulled Yeo Jun into his arms.
Letting his backpack slip from his shoulders Yeo Jun embraced Soo Hyun, crying.
He cried for a while before he suddenly pushed Soo Hyun away.
"Leave me alone." Soo Hyun blinked, stunned by this sudden change.
"Jun. What's wrong?"
"Stay away from me." his eyes were a little wild with whatever emotions he was feelling  "You shouldn't be with me." he backed away.
"What? What are you saying?" Soo Hyun stepped closer.
"All the people around me get hurt." tears continued to come. "Mother..Jun Wan..So-Bin.." He looked at Soo Hyun in fear.."You shouldn't....you shouldn't..."
Soo Hyun grabbed him into his arms. "Stop it. It's not your fault."
Jun continued to resist Soo Hyun's embrace, shaking his head.
"Shh..." Soo Hyun stroked his hair. "It's not your fault. It's not your fault." Soo Hyun held him, stroking his hair.
That night Yeo Jun's tears flowed until he fell asleep.
Soo Hyun kept a watchful eye.Reaching out to comfort him in his sleep whenever he stirred.
1 week.
It had been one whole week and Jun still hadn't returned to school. After that night when he returned from his house he changed. That light that once shone brightly from within seemed to have seemed.
Even though they lived together, they hardly communicated. Jun was always in bed. When Soo Hyun came home, he would always be under the covers.Soo Hyun never had the heart to disturb him. All he could do, was watch with an aching heart.
"Let's have lunch together." Soo Hyun said to So-Bin as they stood in the hallway after class.
So-Bin nodded. Even without Soo Hyun, she and Jun would often have lunch together. Now that he wasn't there, she was a bit lonely.
They began to walk slowly outside.
"You're not to ask me how he's doing?" Soo Hyun asked
"No need." So-Bin replied. "I know he has you and I'm glad he has someone like you by his side."
Soo Hyun looked at her. "You knew?"
She smiled a little "I figured it out." she confessed. "I knew Jun had feelings for you." she looked at So Hyun "It was you I wasn't so sure about. At one point I wasn't even sure you could be friends."
That was a fair analysis.
"But it seems I don't have anything to worry about now." she continued "I know you will take good care of him no matter what."
No matter what.
Soo Hyun thought about those words.
"Isn't that Jun?" So-Bin suddenly asked.
Soo Hyun looked ahead.
It was him.
That golden haired person was walking in their direction.
When he was close enough, he hugged Soo Hyun tightly "I'm sorry." he whispered to him.
Soo Hyun returned his hug.
Next he hugged So-Bin. "I missed you."
"I missed you too." his friend replied.
Soo Hyun watched the two with a smile on his face.
"You're smiling again." Yeo Jun teased.
Soo Hyun rolled his eyes and reached into his backpack.
"Here." he handed a book to Jun "These are my classnotes. What's important are marked so keep that in mind."
"And here's mine." So-Bin handed hers as well
Jun looked at the two of them. "What's up with you two? This is not exactly what I need right now."
"Don't be ridiculous." Soo Hyun replied "After missing classes a student should make up for them."
"No. I'm done taking classes." Jun pouted. "I have two people who love me enough to take notes, so why bother?"
"No Way." So-Bin and Soo Hyun said in unison as they each slapped their notebooks into Jun's hands.
Jun frowned and grabbed So-Bin's hand. "Don't hang out with him. He's rubbing off on you."
So-Bin laughed. "But you still like him."
The boys exchanged glances.
Just then, So-Bin's phone rang and she was called in to work by Jun Wan, thus she left the other two in each other's company.
"Are you feeling better now?" Soo Hyun asked Jun as they sat on one of the campus benches.
"I returned that day after sorting everything out with my father." Jun said "But seeing you brought the tears on.What hurt me for a long time was no longer a big deal for me which seemed futile.I guess the pain became my friend. I coped with it for too long. So leaving it behind felt like I was parting ways with myself from the past."
Soo Hyun nodded. "That's why you were cried your eyes out . From the pain of the breakup."
Yeo Jun looked at him. "We're even now."
"What do you mean?"
"I saw you cry once" Jun replied.
"Me?" Soo Hyun questioned "I've never cried though."
Jun nodded. "Then I guess you didn't." He paused "Maybe I saw you crying on the inside."
"That you should've about 100 times." Soo Hyun told him.
"Every now and then, I realize that clinging to you was the best thing I did."
"Yes." Soo Hyun replied "You have a knack for that."
Jun shook his head. "I actually can't do it very well because I'm scared of rejection."
"Why did you do that then?"
Jun looked at Soo Hyun. "I just wanted to." Soo Hyun gave him a look. "I was deeply hurt back then you know." Jun shared. "But I'm glad I didn't give up. If I hadn't met you , I wouldn't have made it this far.I would've stayed as someone who couldn't speak his heart ." He looked into Soo Hyun's eyes. "I guess I'm grateful in a way."
Soo Hyun smiled and looked out into the distance "What if I hadn't met you though?" He looked into Jun's eyes. "I won't think about it." He sighed. " I really don't want to.While backed into a corner, I thought about ending it all. But I guess my ending isn't mine to decide. Why else would I have met you?" He smiled at Jun. "I guess I'm grateful in a way."
They held each other's gazes and smiled.
It was Soo Hyun who looked away first, when just beyond Jun's line of vision, he spotted a familiar figure.
He frowned and began to stand to his feet. "What's he doing here?"
Jun turned to look. Realizing Chun-Guk was there, he stayed Soo Hyun. "It's ok. I'll go talk to him."
Soo Hyun looked at him.
"Are you sure?"
Yeo Jun nodded.

At A Distance, Spring Is Green -BL Version (Yeo Jun x Nam Soo Hyun)- Chapter 17 :I don't know what to do
Soo Hyun was the first to open his eyes.
Looking to his left, Yeo Jun was still drawing gentle breaths, looking incredibly handsome as he slept.
He wanted to reach over and touch him but he stayed his hand.
Something major had happened between them. Something neither of them could take back and while it made some parts of him feel joy he'd never experienced before, now that he was awake, sober and clear-minded, he couldn't help the feeling of fear that was creeping into his heart.
Yeo Jun was a tenderhearted person who'd already gone through so much turmoil in his life. He didn't want to add to it. He shouldn't have opened a door he wasn't 100% sure he was ready to, or could walk through.
He sighed deeply. He was usually clear-headed. He was usually rational and able to think things through but last night all of that went.
The way Yeo Jun had looked at him. The way he'd begged him for the truth dissolved his resolve like tissue paper in a shower of rain and now here they were. What was he going to do?
The sound of that heavy sigh must have been what roused Yeo Jun from his slumber.
He slowly opened his eyes and looked at Soo Hyun who was already awake beside him.
"What's wrong?"
Soo Hyun looked at Jun. He was beautiful. Even for a person that literally just opened their eyes, he was flawless and it made Soo Hyun's heart twitch.
"Nothing." Soo Hyun replied.
Yeo Jun turned on his side and propped himself up on his elbow.
"Do you remember what I said last night?" Jun asked.
Soo Hyun furrowed his brow.
"Since I've met you, you've never been one to not tell me what's on your mind. Get lost. You annoy me. Go away." A teasing smile was on Jun's lips, even as Soo Hyun frowned a little to hear some of the things he'd said to Jun in the past. Jun looked into Soo Hyun's eyes  "Please don't change that." his tone got a bit more earnest. "Please don't be one of the people who lies to me."
Soo Hyun sighed.
"I don't know what to do." he admitted, looking at the ceiling rather than at Yeo Jun.
"About what?" Jun was curious.
"About you." Jun had no immediate response. "I've only ever liked one person and never thought I'd like anyone again . I've never thought about relationships because I have neither the time nor the luxury to pursue one." He looked at Yeo Jun "It might not be fair to you..and what I did last night.." his voice trailed off.
Yeo Jun smiled at him a little. "You didn't do anything I didn't want you to." he replied. "In fact, I'm glad you did it."
Soo Hyun looked at him "But.."
"You like me don't you?" Jun cut him off. Soo Hyun's nod of confirmation made him smile. "I like you too.So let's just go from there." He got closer to Soo Hyun and kissed him on the lips. "You do what you want to do and I'll do what I want to do."
Soo Hyun looked at Yeo Jun in wonder. Was that really possible for him? Could he just let go for once and do something his heart truly desired to do?
Yeo Jun looked at him and nodded to him, as though he was answering all those doubts and questions that he had in his mind.
He took Jun's hand in his and kissed it. He would give it a try.
"You look very happy today." So-Bin commented as she and Jun walked side by side on campus.
"Me?" he looked at her in surprise. "Don't I usually look happy everyday?"
So-Bin eyed him. "Did something good happen?" she asked.
That silly smile blossomed on Jun's lips again, even a blind person could see his blush.
"Are you not going to tell me?" So-Bin pressed.
Jun looked at her. "Let's have lunch at my place today. We'll buy something super special."
So-Bin raised a brow. "What are we celebrating?"
"Just come on." he grabbed his friend's wrist and led her off.
Soo Hyun stood in shock when he got home.
"Welcome." So-Bin pulled out a chair for him.
"Come have a seat." Jun encouraged as well, with the meat tongs in his hand.
"Mn. Lets eat." Soo Hyun agreed.
Even while as he sat, he couldn't keep his eye off the table. The table top grill was out with a variety of ingredients spread about.
"Just wait a moment." Jun told him. " I invited a special guest for you."
"A special guest?" Soo Hyun echoed.
"Yes." Jun nodded with a smile, reaching behind the table. "It's..." he brought out a dish "Ta-da!" He waited a few moments for his "surprise" to sink in before retrieving it to slap it on the grill.
"Wait!" A flabbergasted Soo Hyun sprang to his feet, staying Jun's hand. "Isn't this prime rib eye?" Jun slowly released the meat as he looked at Soo Hyun. "How much was it?" he asked
So-Bin held on to Soo Hyun's hand and pulled him back into his seat. "It's ok. He said he bought it a while ago."
Soo Hyun looked at her and then at Jun and the meat.
"I bought this and marinated it a few days ago." Jun confirmed. "Don't worry. This is  costs only half of the truffle.." he beamed, proudly.
"Half of the truffle?" Jun questioned..."Then it's.." he calculated mentally. ..While he calculated, Jun hurried to slap the meat on the grill.
Soo Hyun looked at the meat in despair. "So It was 150,000 Won?" He dizzily took his seat "My stomach is already upset."
"Sit down." So-Bin pulled him.
Quite pleased with himself, Jun looked at the meat.
"You should eat well too." he scolded Soo Hyun a little. "It's not a bad thing for someone to take care of you for once." His gaze was direct. "So let me do it."
Soo Hyun choked, apparently choking on air.He looked at  Jun before glancing at So-Bin.l
Jun casually raised his brow in response to that panicked look on Soo Hyun's face
Soo Hyun only sighed a little. He was not used to any of this.He still was not used to the idea of anyone taking care of him.Even if Yeo Jun had more than the means to, to accept it took some effort on his part.Jun also didn't seem to be taking any care against what he said in So-Bin's presence.
So-Bin looked at the both of them and smiled.
"It's good to have lunch together." So-Bin said while the chatted, waiting for the meat to be grilled.
"Mn." Soo Hyun agreed.
Lunch was pleasant among the three and Soo Hyun managed to eat some of the meat even despite the threat of instant nausea everytime he thought about the cost.
He was the first to leave since his afternoon classes were earlier.
"I'll walk you down to the front." Jun offered So-Bin.
The moment Jun opened the door, they came face to face with a man in a suit.
He bowed politely. "Your father sent me." he addressed Yeo Jun.
"My dad?"
The man nodded.
"I have classes in the afternoon." Jun relayed.
"It's best not to keep him waiting, the man said solemnly."He's asking for you and you know how he is."
Jun attempted to pass, but the man blocked him. "What is this? Are you here to catch a runaway heir or something?"
"Please. Let's just go." The man was insistent.
Jun looked at So-Bin. He didn't want her to get dragged into any more messes on account of him. He sighed, knowing he had zero choices at this point.
"I'm going to go." He told his friend.
"Is everything alright?" So-Bin questioned, sensing the awkward vibe.
Jun nodded. "Everything is fine. I just need to go back home. My father probably misses me."
Still with a suspicious look, So-Bin nodded "I'll go first then."
Yeo Jun watched her go before following the man to the waiting car.
"By any chance, Can you reach Jun?" Jun Wan asked So-Bin while they worked in the office. Being unsuccessful in the few attempts he'd made thus far, he decided to ask So-Bin, knowing she and Jun were friends.
"Oh. You're meeting him today." So-Bin replied.
Jun Wan nodded.
"But Jun went home." So-Bin informed him.
"Home?"
So-Bin nodded. "It was unexpected so he probably didn't get the chance to call you."
"We were supposed to meet by the gate after class today."
"It looked like he was going home to see his father."
All the colour drained from Jun Wan's face. "Did Jun say he was going home to see his father?"
"No...it's not that..."
Jun Wan sprang to his feet, alarms going off  "Did someone take him?"
So-Bin nodded. "Yes.He said Jun's father sent him."
At these words Jun Wan grabbed his coat and rushed through the door.
"Mother. Where are you?" he dialled his mother's number
[Hi Jun Wan.]
"Are you home now?"
[Why didn't you answer my calls?]
"Did dad call Jun home?"
[Jun?] his mother sounded surprised
"You didn't know?"
[I know nothing about it. I stepped out to take care of something]
"Head home immediately." Jun instructed his mother, getting into his car "I'm on my way too."
[Okay Jun Wan] his mother agreed
"Hurry." There was panic in his voice as he turned over the engine and peeled away.
Not again. This was not going to happen again. Not after everything he'd done. He remembered it very clearly...that day.
"Listen to me clearly." A young Jun Wan walked into his father's office with steely determination. "If you hurt Jun again, I will kill you all."
"Jun Wan." His father looked at him from his desk. "What are you talking about?"
"You know I can do anything I set my mind to." Jun Wan replied "I'll do everything you say, just don't make Jun go through what you did to me." His father looked at the little boy and sighed . Jun Wan was unrelenting. "Everything you did is recorded here." he held up a flashdrive.
His father was shocked.. "How could you..."
"As of this moment." Jun Wan cut him off  "I'm your only son and it'll be this way until you die. Jun ...as of today, he has no family."
Those had been his words and he'd kept it all those years. With a worried heart and panicked mind Jun Wan sped through the streets, praying he would make it in time. Praying he would not be too late.
There was silence in the room.
Jun's father, Yeo Myung Hoon, CEO of Mijin Group, sat with legs crossed high at the knee while he casually scrolled on his phone.
Yeo Jun stood before his father, hands clasped infront of him.
"What have you been up to?" his father finally asked, breaking the strained silence.
"Dad, what is this about?" Jun asked
His father slowly turned to look at him. "I told you to stay away from trouble."
"Did I cause trouble?"
"Your brother teaches at your school so I told you to be careful."
"I'd never do anything to embarrass him." Jun replied. "I don't even say hi to him."
His father looked at him before extending his phone to him.
Yeo Jun looked at it. There was the clip of his fight with Chun-Guk.There was nothing he could say.
"It was my fault for believing you." His father sneered. "Hey. Are you trying to embarrass me now too on top of Jun Wan?" Yeo Jun was silent. "Jun Wan turned down the offer from the top university and chose your school because of you." he pointed an accusatory finger. He looked disgusted. "You shouldn't have been born." His father took up his drink. "You're so inept and full of flaws ."
"Dad--"
"I don't want to heart it." his father slammed the glass down. "Move back home."
"I don't want to." Jun replied.
"You don't want to?" His father looked at him.
"No. I don't want to." Jun repeated. "I don't want to move back here."
His father leaned back. "I see you've learned how to talk back to your father.." he paused. "What? You don't want to move back here? Say that again." he challenged.
Jun was silent.
"You don't want to do it?" His father stood and grabbed the bottle of whiskey.
Jun's eyes darted from side to side, the fear inside of him rising by the second.
With a heavy sigh, his father set the bottle down again before walking past Jun.
Like some phantom hands were moving him, Jun turned slowly to face his father.
"Why are you just standing there?" his father asked. "Come in."
His father walked towards that room. That room where he'd suffered so many times. Like a puppet being pulled, Jun followed his father as he beckoned. "Come on."
Step by step he walked closer and closer.
When he made it to the threshold, his father grabbed him by the back of the head and pushed him forcefully inside, slamming the door behind them.

At A Distance, Spring Is Green -BL Version (Yeo Jun x Nam Soo Hyun)-Chapter 16 : Do you feel nothing?
A/N: This chapter has abuse imagery as seen in the drama
"So..." Mi-Ju looked at Soo Hyun. "I've decided to give up on you." she announced. Soo Hyun looked at her. "I guess that's funny to say since I was already rejected by you but I thought you would be more at ease if I made myself clear."
Soo Hyun nodded. "Right."
"By the way, aren't you curious as to why I was attracted to you in the first place?"
"I am." Soo Hyun admitted, much to Mi-Ju's surprise. "I couldn't ask because I felt I had no right to."
Mi-Ju managed to smile as she began her story. "I first saw you at the convenience store on a particularly bad day for me---" Soo Hyun listened as she recounted their encounter. "I thought to myself, if I had someone like you by my side at  any given time, I  knew I would be able to  get past anything.Nonchalantly but with affection. You seemed like a solid tree who'd take my hand and guide me along the way ." She looked at Soo Hyun and smiled. "You're also a handsome tree."
She took a deep breath before she continued speaking. "I don't regret it though. For the first time in my life I tried my best. Even if I travel back in time, I still would have fallen for you, developed a crush on you and told you how I felt."
"I'm sorry." Soo Hyun apologized. "For not being able to give you anything."
Wearing her bravest face, Mi-Ju simply nodded before reaching into her folder. "Please accept this." she gave a sheet to Soo Hyun. "I can neither keep it nor throw it away."
Soo Hyun looked at it. It was the actual drawing from the picture she'd shown them that day at lunch.
"It's my drawing of you. Didn't I do a good job?" Soo Hyun smiled as he looked at it. "Thank you for appearing in my  life so that I got the chance to have a crush on you." Mi-Ju told him.
Soo Hyun looked at the portrait and then to the retreating back of the girl he could not love. This kind of thing could not be forced.
Not knowing how long his talk with Mi-Ju would have been,Jun reluctantly left Soo Hyun behind and headed home first.
The minute he arrived at his apartments, his face fell when he beheld a familiar silhouette.
"These aren't yours." Yeo Jun's mother held up Soo Hyun's clothes with a scornful finger as she sat on the couch. "Where did you get these rags?"
"Leave them." Jun grabbed the clothes. "Why are you here?" he asked.
"Must I have a reason to be here?" she questioned in turn. "It's not like you paid for this place."
"You only come to me when things are bad for you." he pointed out.
His mother stood to her feet. "What?"
"To yell and curse at me."
"I see you've become talkative." His mother looked at him.
Jun's eyes were steely. "That's right. I've changed mother. So don't come by unannounced like this."
"Do you think I'm here to see you?" his mother lashed out, almost in tears. "I can't reach Jun-Wan." Yeo Jun sighed. "This isn't like him at all." his mother was more muttering to herself than talking to him. "He always picks up when I call."
"Should I call him for you?" Jun asked
His mother ran to him. "Does take your calls? Have you seen him?"  her teary eyes were hopeful. "What did you say to him that made him ignore my calls?" she tapped Jun in the chest
Yeo Jun took both of his mother's hands into his. "Mother. Please get a grip on yourself. Leave him be will you?" he screamed, defending his brother.
His mother immediately pulled her hands from his and held her head as she began screaming erratically.
Looking at her, Yeo Jun's pupils shrank as he looked at her hands.
There were bruises under that long sleeved blouse she was wearing.
"Mom?" he grabbed her shaking hand in his own to inspect it. "Mom. What's all this?"
His mother immediately pulled her hands away, her face riddled with fear "It's nothing." she pulled her sleeves down and backed away from her son.  "Please call  the moment you hear from Jun Wan." she took up her bag from the couch.
"Does dad beat you too?" Jun's heart was racing.
His mother looked at him over her shoulder.
"Are you being abused as well?!" he screamed
"What...What are you talking about?" his mother asked as her tears flowed.
"Mom?" Jun was in disbelief.
"Shh..shhh..shh." His mother put a trembling finger to her lips. "Others might hear you. Please keep your voice down." she begged.
"What others?" Jun asked. He looked at his mother's bruises again "How could you have kept this hidden when we lived in the same house?"
His mother grabbed her coat. "Move." she shoved him aside as she retreated hastily.
Yeo Jun collapsed into the couch, tears streaming down his face at this new revelation.
He'd been in the dark about so many things. He'd not known the truth about his brother and now, seeing his mother in that state, it really was too much to bear.
It was late in the night when Yeo Jun finally reached out to Jun Wan.
[Hey Jun.] his brother greeted him
"Mom came by."
[Mother? Why?]
"Are you going to leave her there?" Jun asked. "You knew didn't you?"
[I've been telling her for many years to leave father. This is the life she chose]
"If mom had been less miserable, would I have been happier?" Jun asked . There was silence. "Jun Wan?"
[Yes. Jun?]
"I still don't think I can forgive mom though ." he confessed.
[Mn.] Jun-Wan understood perfectly. [Don't think too much about it.] he told his younger brother. [Get some sleep.]
[Mn.] A miserable Yeo Jun agreed.
After hanging up with Jun Wan, he couldn't sleep.Easing himself out of bed, he walked to the living room.
"Are you going to sleep?" he asked Soo Hyun, who was nestling in the sofa.
Soo Hyun sat up. "Why?"
"I'd like a consultation." Yeo Jun told him
"How much will you pay?"
Yeo Jun held up the wine he held in his hand.
Soo Hyun looked at the bottle and sighed. The possible cost of that wine was sure to give him hives if he heard it.
"This won't cause indigestion." Yeo Jun told him, reading the look on his face
"How much is it?" Soo Hyun asked.
"Hmm..Pricier than 10,000 Won." Jun replied
Soo Hyun eyed him suspiciously "But less than 1 million Won right?"
Jun looked at the bottle.
"It's not?" Soo Hyun asked in alarm.
Jun smiled at him. "It is. It's 999,000 Won."
"Are you making fun of me?" Soo Hyun frowned
Jun simply smiled at him.
"What do you want advice on?" Soo Hyun asked when a glass of wine had been poured for each of them.
"Fathers." Jun replied. He looked at Soo Hyun. "I want to hear about yours."
"But you're the one who wanted to talk." Soo Hyun pointed out. Jun's eyes fell a little. "My dad was a hero." Soo Hyun began after a while.  "A hero who couldn't protect his own family.Could be a hero to many and rarely be a hero to his own family. He was a righteous man many people respected. " he smiled wryly "But it only led me to poverty."
"No." Jun objected.
"What?"
"It's not easy to be as strong as you." Jun said "I'm sure you got that from your father."
"Is that so?" Soo Hyun looked at his hands. "I wouldn't have minded if I had to bear it all alone, but my little brother too.He couldn't do all that he wanted. That hurts the most." He sighed as he thought of Koo Hyun and the life he'd had to live all because of their circumstances. He swallowed his own despair and looked at Jun. "What about your father?"
"My father...physically abuses his family." Soo Hyun looked at Jun in surprise. "Members of my family shed blood trying to cover up that fact." Jun's eyes were teary "But I let someone else know."
Soo Hyun recalled that night. The one where he'd found Jun in tears. "It must have been hard for you." His heart was heavy.
"Not me." Jun's tears had not yet fallen. "It was my brother. He must have had it worse. But I was completely in the dark." His silent tears began to roll. "And only whined about my pain." He was disgusted with himself. "Soo Hyun"
"Yes?"
"What do I do?"
Soo Hyun wished he had an answer for that hurting person sitting across from him but he had none.
"There was so much I didn't know. So much I got wrong." he lamented.
Soo Hyun left his chair and stooped beside Yeo Jun's chair, reaching upwards,he used his thumbs to wipe Jun's tears.
"Soo Hyun."
"Hmm?"
Jun swallowed. "Tell me the truth."
"About what?" Soo Hyun asked.
"Do you really not have any feelings for me?"
Soo Hyun sighed.
Why was he always asking these kinds of questions when he was upset?
He stood to his feet and Jun stood as well.
"You're upset right now. You shouldn't be thinking about these things." He attempted to walk away but Yeo Jun blocked him.
"Tell me the truth." Jun repeated. "Do you feel nothing?"
Soo Hyun sighed and looked at the floor.Of course he did feel something but how could he possibly act on them? They were so different plus he didn't have the time nor the luxury for a relationship.
"Jun--I--" Soo Hyun attempted to explain but that bluntness of his suddenly dissipated.
Jun looked into his eyes. His voice low. "Please don't lie." his eyes were pleading. "I don't want someone else lying to me."
Soo Hyun couldn't take it anymore. Rather than responding in words, Soo Hyun yanked Yeo Jun to him, pulling him into a passionate kiss.
Yeo Jun responded immediately to Soo Hyun's kiss, coiling his arms around him as their hungry lips gorged on each other.
The fire was lit, and in this moment, Soo Hyun didn't have an ounce of restraint.
He and Yeo Jun kissed their way through that apartment, maneuvering their bodies until they made it to the bedroom.
Soo Hyun looked at Yeo Jun as he sat on the bed with his elbows propping up his weight. He discarded his sweatshirt before making his way to him, showering him with kisses.
He kissed Yeo Jun's lips, sucking, biting, teasing.
With his eyes not leaving Jun's he undid his buttons one by one.
Soo Hyun gently eased Jun's shirt from his shoulders and down his arms, dotting kisses along the way. On his neck, on the blades of his shoulder, down his arm before finding his lips once more.
Yeo Jun bit his lip and closed his eyes as Soo Hyun rained kisses all over his body.
Their lips parted momentarily and Soo Hyun searched Yeo Jun's eyes as they both panted.
Between them there was one main question:
Are you sure?
Neither of them had thought of another man in this way before but their desire for each other was palpable.
Yeo Jun reached up and softly caressed Nam Soo Hyun's neck.
Nam Soo Hyun tenderly kissed Yeo Jun's forehead and then his nose. Bypassing his lips, he kissed his neck, sucking intermittently while Yeo Jun's hand cradled his head, intimately stroking the base of his neck.
Kisses were strewn down the length of Yeo Jun's body while Soo Hyun's hands trailed behind to caress, doubling Jun's sensation. Across the span of his chest, down his torso, down to his navel, his hip bones.
He unbuttoned Jun's pants, angling his head upwards to gauge his reaction.
Jun looked back at him, from under lowered lids, his cheeks flushed.
With no objections, Soo Hyun removed the rest of Jun's clothes and beheld his bare body spread out under him.
"Are you okay?" he dared to ask Jun, as he laid there like a blushing virgin.
"Mn." Jun nodded shyly.
Everything between them after that point was like an out of body experience.
These two who had come from different worlds were meeting in the middle of desire and passion.Meeting in between kisses and bare skin. Not caring in this moment about who was rich and who was poor, about who was more stubborn. In this moment, just their mutual feelings passed between them.
"Are you okay?" he asked, looking into Yeo Jun's eyes when they were done.
Jun smiled and kissed him, tasting the slight saltiness on Soo Hyun's lips. "Mn."
Understandably, their bed was now quite the sight.
Leaving Jun on the bed, Soo Hyun went to the closet to retrieve towels.
Jun slowly got up and wrapped the towel around his waist.
They stood looking at each other after what they'd just done.
"Are you...okay?" Jun asked, a little uncertain, not sure of how Soo Hyun might be feeling at this point.
Soo Hyun's dimples appeared in his cheek as he made his way to Yeo Jun.
"You asked if I liked you earlier right?" he coiled his arms around Jun's waist.
Yeo Jun nodded.
"Did you get your answer?" he asked.
Yeo Jun blushed slightly and lowered his head "Mn." he replied. He coiled his own arms around Soo Hyun's waist. "But I want to hear it."
Soo Hyun smiled at this stubborn person. "I like you." he said before kissing him tenderly.
Yeo Jun smiled and rested his head on Soo Hyun's chest....
He was happy.

At A Distance, Spring Is Green -BL Version (Yeo Jun x Nam Soo Hyun)-Chapter 15 : The fruit of your sacrifice
"Jun Wan." a bruised Yeo Jun sat up in his bed
"Yeo Jun." Jun Wan perched himself on the side of the bed, his voice serious.
"Why are you calling me like that?" Yeo Jun was scared "Just call me Jun."
"Listen to me very carefully. From now on, you are on your own. You don't have a mom or a dad."
"why not?" Jun was confused.
"They're not your parents."
"Jun Wan." Yeo Jun's confusion was deepening. "But I have you."
"No. You have no one." Jun Wan replied.
"Why are you being like this?" Yeo Jun asked. "You're scaring me." He held on to his brother's hand.
"Don't tell anyone what happened today." Jun Wan cautioned. "Forget everything." He peeled his hands away from his little brother's and hastily left.
"No." Yeo Jun began to cry "Don't go.! Jun Wan!"
Yeo Jun crawled out of bed and headed quietly to Jun Wan's room. When his little legs finally reached the door he peeked inside.
Even without looking he could hear his brother crying inside.
"I'm so sorry Jun." Jun Wan was curled in a ball in the corner, as his tears flowed. "Jun. I'm sorry."
A thousand realizations dawned on Yeo Jun all at once. He'd been wrong.
"Jun." Soo Hyun approached him as he stood in a daze. "Are you alright?"
"Soo Hyun." Jun looked at him
"Yes. What is it?"
Jun's eyes were glassy with tears "Maybe my memories are wrong. It scares me."
"Are you afraid of finding out the truth?" Soo Hyun asked.
"No." Jun took a deep breath "I want to know."
"Then find out." Soo Hyun encouraged. "If you fix things now, you can start over."
Yeo Jun nodded. "I'm going to go back." he told Soo Hyun.
Soo Hyun patted his shoulder comfortingly. "Go."
Without hesitation, Yeo Jun took off, heading back to Seoul. As he was transported, those once hazy, distorted memories became clearer and clearer and for the first time since he was child, he could see the truth. The one who'd scared him, beat him, traumatized him so much was not his older brother...
"Dad." the name rolled off his tongue absentmindedly as he saw that face as clear as day.
Why do I have to go through this because of you?
Why?
You're crying?
How dare you cry?
Those memories of his father's abuse floated back to him one after the other.
"It wasn't you?" Yeo Jun asked his brother as they both stood on the bridge, overlooking the expansive lake. "The person who hit me that day.It wasn't you?" Jun Wan was silent. "Tell me." Jun demanded.
"It was Dad." his brother admitted.
"It was Dad. Not you?"
Jun Wan turned to face him. "Yes. It was dad."
"Then why did you do that?" A shell shocked Jun asked. He grabbed the lapels of his brother's coat "Why haven't you said anything all this time?" he shouted.
"I'm your brother." Jun Wan replied.
Tears pricked Yeo Jun's eyes "You should have atleast not made me hate you. You should have atleast been someone I could lean on."
"I'm sorry." His brother apologized. Yeo Jun's heart ached as he slowly released his brother's clothes. "The only way to protect you from him was to live the life that he wanted. It's why I didn't have the time to check in on you or to acknowledge your hardship."
"Why did you live that way?" Yeo Jun asked. "What was it all for?"
"We're all given a role in life." Jun Wan replied. "I devoted myself to the life I chose and will keep on doing so.This is my calling which has nothing to do with you.You go ahead and live for yourself.Freely."
"It's a freedom that's the fruit of your sacrifice." Jun pointed out, a hard lump in his throat.
"I'm fine with it." his brother told him. "Let me take you home." he began to walk away
"Thank you." Yeo Jun said after his brother had taken two steps "For finally telling me the truth." Tears began rolling down his eyes. He had been so wrong, for so many years. He had hated his brother so vehemently for so much of his life when in truth, his brother had done everything for his sake---- just to protect him. The truth was much too bitter.
It was late when Soo Hyun got home.Unlike the others who'd decided to spend overnight at the villa with the Professors he wanted to be back home, with him.
"Why are you back" A surprised Jun greeted Soo Hyun.
"I should sleep at home shouldn't I?"
"Did everyone else make it back?" Jun asked.
Soo Hyun shook his head. "Just me."
"I'm glad I didn't ruin it for everyone."
Soo Hyun shrugged. "Who cares. How are you? Did the talk go well?"
"Are you actually asking me first?" Jun smiled at him. "I'm touched."
Soo Hyun looked over Jun's shoulder, to the balcony. "Over there. I'd like to check it out."
Jun smiled at him and nodded. "Sure. Let's do that."
A few minutes later, the two sat side by side, looking up at the night sky.
"As a boy, I told everyone I was an only child."
"Why?" Soo Hyun looked at him.
"Because I hated my brother." Jun sighed. "It was of no use though. Despite the big age gap, people still knew me as Yeo Jun-Wan's little brother.I was always compared to the model student.I saw a brother that other people saw, but that wasn't the real him." He paused. "Then one day he said this. That I didn't have a family. No brother and no parents.I don't know why he said that or what went through his mind as he lived on.I just don't get it."
Soo Hyun sighed. "At first, I didn't get you at all either."
"Likewise." Jun agreed, looking at him.
"Why was spending money so easy for you? Why were you  flashing  fake smiles at people? And why did you keep bothering me?"
"Meanwhile you were prickly, only had complaints about the world and were annoyed by me when others loved me."
Soo Hyun smiled and nodded in agreement. "I was annoyed by you." His smile didn't leave. "Some thing about you still get on my nerves."
Jun hmphed. "Likewise."
They looked at each other.
"Maybe there will come a day when you and your brother will reminisce about your past like we're doing right now."
"Will that day easily come?"
"Yes." Soo Hyun replied confidently. "I'm sure it will."
Yeo Jun sighed. That lump was back in his throat and he was trying not to cry.
"So." he turned to Soo Hyun. "What about me annoys you?"
"Do you have all night?" Soo Hyun asked, getting up.
"What are they?" Jun walked after him "Just name three then. You annoy me in lots of ways too you know."
"I'm sure I do." Soo Hyun left him behind.
The next day
"Soo Hyun. Wait." Jun grabbed Soo Hyun's hand as he was walking out the door. "Let me come with you. Give me five minutes though."
Soo Hyun rolled his eyes.
Jun looked at him. "Is that really how you're leaving the house?"
Soo Hyun looked at himself and then nodded. "Why?"
"I see you didn't get much sleep last night." Jun folded his arms, inspecting Soo Hyun's face.
"Actually I did." Soo Hyun denied his claim.
A stubborn Jun shook his head and grabbed a hold of Soo Hyun. "Come over here." he attempted to lead him to his room.
Soo Hyun refused, leaning his weight back. "But I'm late."
"Come..on.." Jun pulled with both hands and leading him off.
"Darn. You're strong." Soo Hyun observed as he was led to Jun's room.
"Follow me in here." Jun stopped him infront of the mirror. "Frowning like that will give you wrinkles."
Soo Hyun sighed and rolled his eyes.
"Apply it on yourself." Jun handed him a face product
"I already have." Soo Hyun replied.
"Trust me will you?" Jun was still being stubborn. "Should I lend you a hand?" he raised a brow.
Soo Hyun swallowed. "I'll do it." he grabbed it. He looked at Jun. "How do I use this?"
"Under the eyes."
Jun watched as he complied.
"Above the lips" he instructed.
Soo Hyun obeyed.
"And your neck."
Soo Hyun also did that under Jun's watchful eye.
"Happy Now?" Soo Hyun asked Jun begrudgingly when he was done.
Jun smiled at him  and took his chin between his index and forefinger, turning his face this way and that as though to inspect it.
Soo Hyun's heartbeat increased at Jun's touch. He looked at him and swallowed hard.
Yeo Jun looked at Soo Hyun's lips briefly before pulling his eyes upward. "It's good. Now you're glowing. You look good."
"I'm leaving." Soo Hyun was ready to make a hasty retreat.
"While you stay here. I'll iron out your frown and your personality." Jun called after him with a smile as he left.
"Who here has a role model they can look up to as a leader?" Professor Song addressed her class.
Yeo Jun raised his hand.
"Jun. I didn't know you were in my class." Professor Song was surprised by the hand that was raised.
"Well your reputation speaks for itself." Yeo Jun replied "So I snuck in today even though I am a freshman. Is that okay?"
Professor Song smiled. "That's commendable. So tell me. Who is your role model ?"
"In my case, it's Soo Hyun." Jun pointed a hand in Nam Soo Hyun's direction.
The entire class was shocked.
Soo Hyun turned in his seat to look at Yeo Jun.
"Soo Hyun?" Professor Song was curious. "What about him made you think that way?"
Soo Hyun looked at Jun as though he wanted to shut him up before he spoke another one.
Jun looked at him with a teasing defiance. "He does not lean on others nor does he care about being popular. He couldn't care less about what others think of him." Soo Hyun wanted to disappear. What was he saying right now?
"How can that alone make him a good leader though?" the teacher probed
It was Kim So-Bin who chimed in next, raising her hand. "He's the same inside and out." she added. Soo Hyun spun now to look at her. Were she and Jun in cahoots? "He tries to keep his words at all times and he's responsible. His qualities make others want to depend on him."
The rest of the class listened in stunned silence. Were these two talking about the UP? Nam Soo Hyun?
Professor Park smiled. "And here I thought you only got good grades." she said to Soo Hyun. "Soo Hyun." Nam Soo Hyun's head shot up. "I'm seeing you in a new light."
Soo Hyun's face flushed red as he eyed Yeo Jun and Kim So-Bin.
The minute their class ended he accosted them.
"You two. What do you want from me?"
They both looked at him.
"I'm just fond of you." Yeo Jun replied
"Me too." So-Bin echoed.
Soo Hyun looked from one to the other in exasperation. "Could you two keep the fondness to yourselves and just leave me out of it?"
Jun and So-Bin laughed as they watched a flustered Soo Hyun walk down the hall.
"He's blushing hard." Jun commented.
"Mn." So-Bin agreed, walking to catch up to their friend.
Their next session was with Professor Park and since Soo Hyun had sped ahead of them, he arrived first, sitting in his usual seat.
So-Bin had to make a stop first so Jun headed in alone.
The minute he sat down, Gung-Ho called out to him. He spun in his seat.
"Jun. We're good right? Chun-Guk that jerk! I don't know what's wrong with him. He has crossed the line big time."
"I was against him calling your friend." Sang Tae added his piece. "Don't think we're just as bad."
"Are you cutting ties with him?" Jun asked "You guys were close."
"Not me." Sang Tae denied it. "Besides. We're the ones who told Young Ran where to find the room."
"Ahhh..I see." Jun spun around in his seat.
"We almost got lumped in with Chun-Guk." Sange Tae complained under his breath.
"Traitor." Gung-Ho accused in a low voice
"And you're not? "Jun overheard the whole exchange between the two but chose to ignore it.They weren't his friends.
So-Bin arrived and took her usual seat beside Jun with Professor Park following closely on her heels to begin the class.
"What kind of assignments do you find the hardest to do?" Professor Park opened when he arrived in class. "I'm thinking about considering your answers for next semester's assignments."
"Team projects." the class shouted in unison.
"Why do you hate team projects?" Professor Park asked. "Isn't it better to work in a group?"
"I hate it." Gung-Ho was very vocal
"After team projects, I found myself hating people more and more." Hye-Jie added her own reply. "And now I believe that we were born evil."
Professor Park took another taste of his lollipop. "Right. That's too bad then.In that case. Let me give you another simple assignment.Write about how you felt about the recent team project.Fill in an entire A4 page in font size ten. You can't live in this world on your own.I'm sure you've learned something important by working in a team and cooperating."
With that announcement, their class began.
Their session was over within the hour and the trio exited together. Soo Hyun in the middle, flanked by So-Bin and Yeo Jun.
They'd just made their way down the short flight of stairs outside the main building when they were approached by someone.
"Soo Hyun. Can you spare me a moment?" Mi-Ju asked.
"Uh.." Soo Hyun hesitated.
So-Bin elbowed him
Soo Hyun sighed and agreed. "Sure."
Jun bit his lip as he watched them go.
"She really does like him hmm?" He commented
"Seems so." So-Bin replied. "What about you?"
"What about me what?" Jun asked.
"Do you like him?"
Jun furrowed his brow. "Wha? Why would you ask that?"
So-Bin looked at him. "You just seem a little..different around him."
"Different? Different how?"
A teasing smile bloomed on So-Bin's face. "Like someone with a crush."
Yeo Jun scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "Is it that obvious?"
So-Bin laughed. "No. Not really but I see it sometimes when you look at him." He looked to where Soo Hyun and Mi-Ju had walked off into the distance. "Why don't you tell him?"
"I did." Jun confessed. "But I'm not sure he believes me."
So-Bin nodded. "I see.Well you should make him believe you."
"How?" Yeo Jun asked.
"You're the great Yeo Jun." she smiled at him. "I'm sure you will think of something."

At A Distance, Spring Is Green -BL Version (Yeo Jun x Nam Soo Hyun)-Chapter 14 : I think I like you..
Yeo Jun winced as So-Bin applied medicine to his face.
That feeling of deja vu that he was experiencing was enough to make his heart sink.He dared not even look at So-Bin, feeling heavily responsible.
"I'm sorry." he finally managed to choke out. "It's all my fault. Because of me this happened to you again. If you no longer want to be my friend I completely understand."
So-Bin stopped applying the medicine. "I should be the one apologizing. Because of me you got hurt. I was stupid." Yeo Jun looked at her with the tears welling up. "After what happened last time I shouldn't have gone with Chun-Guk."
"It's not your fault." he comforted her. "And you're not stupid. It was him who committed a crime." He sighed. "I bet it was scary."
"Yes." So-Bin admitted. "It was."
"I'm sorry for getting there too late." Jun replied. "I almost went crazy thinking something might have happened to you. I couldn't bear it if something happened to you because of me." So-Bin was silent. "I know it's all my fault." he hung his head. "I'm close to you and so people have made you a target...it's the same with him."
Yeo Jun's fists curled on his knees. Never in his life had he made friends and had people he was close to or cared about. He would be damned if they let anyone hurt them.
"It's ok." So-Bin comforted Jun. "I'm fine."
Jun looked at her with tears in his eyes. "I'm sorry." he apologized to his friend sincerely.
Looking at him, there was no doubt he meant it.So-Bin simply nodded and comforted him.
Yeo Jun's mind was still in a haze as he walked home. He ensured So-Bin was safely in her dorm before taking his leave, recounting the harrowing experience from earlier.
As he approached his apartment's entryway, he saw that car parked outside. That figure was leaning against the door. Their eyes met.
"We should talk." Jun Wan was the first to speak.
"Sure." Yeo Jun agreed. "I have something that I want to say anyway."
They both made their way to the car where they sat in silence for a few minutes.
Jun Wan was the first to speak again. "I saw the video from the festival. Why didn't you fight back?"
"You sound like a worried big brother."Jun's sarcasm was clear. "Well. It didn't hurt at all. Remember that I can take a beating."
Jun Wan's head snapped to look at his little brother. "Don't let it happen again." he told him
"What gives you the right to say that?" Jun was getting angry. "You beat the crap out of me!" Jun Wan's eyes widened "Don't tell me you already forgot. I see that you've already erased it from your memory but I am reminded of it everyday." Jun Wan stared in unblinking silence "So don't you dare forget it without my permission." Jun spat
"Jun--" Jun Wan began
He didn't want to hear it.Without another word, anger in his eyes, Yeo Jun exited the car, slamming the door behind him.
With tears in his eyes and a heavy heart Jun Wan watched his little brother leave, powerless once again.
He was beyond frightened as backed away from that menacing figure stepping closer to him.
"Jun Wan. Please help me." Yeo Jun pleaded.
"You want me to help you?" Jun-Wan questioned, stepping closer still.
"Jun Wan. I...I was wrong." he continued to step back
"It's okay." Jun Wan continued to advance "You're not my family." The speed of his steps increased.
"Jun Wan. Jun Wan.Jun Wan.Jun Wannn!" Yeo Jun screamed, paralyzed by fear.
Yeo Jun sat up in bed with a start, his heart thumping, awash in cold sweat. He looked around. He was in his room. He gripped his pillow close to his chest, his breaths coming in short.
It was dark when Soo-Hyun came home. Looking at the doorway, he saw Jun's shoes.
"Is he not home?" he wondered to himself, looking at the dark space.
He'd only taken two steps inside when he heard it.Sniffles. Soo Hyun stopped in his tracks to listen.
He was sure. Someone was crying.
Cautiously, he walked in the dark step by step to Yeo Jun's room. The closer he got, the more pitiful the sound of those choked sobs.
The picture was even more pitiful.
With his back against his bed, Yeo Jun sat on the floor, his knees pulled up close with his head buried in his hands.
Silently, Soo Hyun stepped closer to him. He reached out an unsure hand as he knelt beside Yeo Jun and patted him gently a few times.
Suddenly, Yeo Jun turned and grabbed him into a tight embrace, sobbing in his arms.
Soo Hyun closed his eyes and embraced Yeo Jun, lovingly stroking his hair. "Shhh...shhh..It's alright. I'm here." he comforted him.
Hearing Soo Hyun's voice, inhaling his scent, being in his embrace, Yeo Jun's tears slowed.
"It was all my fault." Yeo Jun repeated over and over again.
"Shh..shh..shh.. It's okay. It's okay." Soo Hyun continued to comfort him never releasing his embrace.
They stayed like that for a while until Yeo Jun broke away, looking at him with a tear stained face.
Jun looked into Soo Hyun's eyes briefly before easing himself up to kiss him on the lips, freezing Soo Hyun in shock.Their lips met and it felt familiar.
When Soo Hyun didn't rebuff him, or push him away, Yeo Jun kissed him again.
Soo Hyun's heart was racing as he looked at Yeo Jun in whose eyes he saw so many things-- hope, hurt, confusion.
He raised his hand and gently caressed Yeo Jun's cheek before kissing him.
At Soo Hyun's kiss, Yeo Jun responded, kissing him deeply, his hands cupping Soo Hyun's face.
When their lips broke apart there was something new in both of their eyes as they looked at each other. With no words between them, in this moment they knew they both wanted the same thing.
Yeo Jun stood to his feet and extended his hand to Soo Hyun.
With both standing at their respective heights, they looked into each other's eyes, anticipation growing in their chests.
It was Yeo Jun who broke the stalemate first as he kissed Soo Hyun once more, a tiny moan escaping his lips as their lips crashed into each other.
An inexplicable fire was lit in Soo Hyun's heart.Cradling Jun's neck, he kissed him deeply, slipping his tongue into his mouth.
They kissed for a long time. Long, heated, passionate kisses, their breaths growing more ragged each time they dared to break apart. Their restraint waning rapidly with each passing second.
"We should  stop." Soo Hyun told Yeo Jun as he kissed him for the God knows how many time.
"Mmm...No." Yeo Jun's lips found his again.
"Jun." his name came out as a mere pant from Soo Hyun.
"I don't want to." Yeo Jun replied.
"But.." Soo Hyun tried to protest in between kisses.
"You do what you want to do and I'll do what I want to do." Yeo Jun told him as he eased himself out of his jacket.
Soo Hyun closed his eyes. He really was making this hard for him. He wasn't sure how much longer he could hold himself back.
Yeo Jun stopped kissing him and looked at Soo Hyun. His lips looked particularly moist and plump after their kisses. His eyes sparkled , laden with desire.
"I think I like you.." he said to Soo Hyun.
Soo Hyun was shocked to hear those words. Like him? How could he like him? What part of him was likeable by someone like Yeo Jun.
"What are you talking about?"
"It's true." Jun admitted "I think...No." he corrected himself. "I like you."
Soo Hyun scratched the back of his head at this unexpected turn of events, unsure of what to say or do.
"Don't...you like me? He asked.
Soo Hyun looked at him. Dammit he was cute. Of course he liked him but he couldn't do this.
"I do like you." Soo Hyun admitted.
Yeo Jun smiled and stepped closer, attempting to kiss him again.
Soo Hyun backed away. "But we can't. We shouldn't."
"Why not?" Jun question.
Why not? Why couldn't they? Soo Hyun thought about it. He didn't have an answer for him.
"It's been a long day." Soo Hyun changed the subject. "Did you eat?"
Yeo Jun frowned. What was this? He knew Soo Hyun liked him too. He felt it in that kiss so why was he being like this?
"No." Jun shook his head. "I didn't."
"Come. I'll make us something to eat." He walked away before Jun could say another word, his heart still racing.
They ate their dinners in silence.
After what happened between them, both were clouded by their own thoughts and feelings.
When dinner was over, they cleared the dishes, said their goodnights and went to bed, each having to contend with this new development in their own way.
"Are you okay?" Soo Hyun greeted Jun when they met in the passageway.
Jun looked at him.His eyes were still a little red and swollen, presumably from all the crying he'd done the night before.
Yeo Jun nodded.
"Okay."
They stood looking at each other, neither of them bringing up what had happened between them though it was on both their minds.
"About last night.." Yeo Jun made an attempt.
"Forget about it." Soo Hyun cut him off. "It's ok. I know you were just upset."
Realizing Soo Hyun didn't want to talk about it, Jun nodded. "Thank you."
"For what?" Soo Hyun asked.
"For last night. For being there. For everything."
Soo Hyun nodded once. "Anytime." he replied before leaving.
It took a few days, but things between Yeo Jun and Soo Hyun finally returned to normal. There was no perceived awkwardness from whatever happened between them that night and they both went about their individual lives and their lives as roommates.
Soo Hyun was busy folding the laundry when Yeo Jun walked into the room talking to someone on the phone.
His ear perked up when he heard his name.
"So you want me to deal with Soo Hyun?" Soo Hyun looked at him.
"Do you want to go on a trip with me?" Yeo Jun asked when his conversation ended.
"A trip? Why? I see you at home everyday." Soo Hyun replied.
Jun smiled, knowing he had the clincher. "The Youth Trip. It's organized by Professor Park."
At the mention of Professor Park's name, Soo Hyun's expression changed. He'd caught him. "Professor Park?" Soo Hyun asked
"What?"  Jun looked at him "You declined just now. Flat out. Now you're torn because of Professor Park?" He pouted "We've been through alot together. Do you like Professor Park more than me?"
Soo Hyun rolled his eyes. What kind of question was that?
"I'll go." he said flatly before going back to his laundry.
Yeo Jun smiled to himself.
There were 8 people in all for the trip. Professors Park and Song. Young-Ran, Mi-Ju,So-Bin, Yeo Jun, Soo Hyun and So-Bin's friend, Chang-Gi.
Professor Park was quite excited to find that so many people had showed up considering that up until the ninth hour, despite his flyers posted on various student boards, no one had taken up his offer.
He rented a villa by the beach. They would spend the day eating and doing various activities before closing out the day with a campfire for sharing.
The day passed very quickly and before the group knew it, it was evening.
They all gathered around the campfire.
"Surely this campfire is not meant for sharing stories that are going to make people cry." Professor Song said to Professor Park.
His face fell. It seemed she was right.
"Let's play a game instead." someone suggested.
Everyone agreed.
Jun and Chang-Gi, So-Bin's friend were the first to compete. They would duel in a game of rock-paper-scissors and the loser would need to be hit with some rubber toys they'd brought.
Chang-Gi was particularly pleased to square off against Jun because he bore a grudge against him. He'd known So-Bin all their lives and they'd been the closest of friends however, since she'd met Yeo Jun their friendship had been a little strained since she began spending so much time with Jun.
It also didn't help that because of her closeness to Jun, she'd been assaulted not once, but twice. He was glad he would get the chance to hit him today, even if it was with these rubber toys.
"Rock, paper, scissors!" they said in unison.
Chang-Gi picked paper. Jun picked rock.
Rock covered paper.
They each grabbed an item from the log table between them.
Chang-Gi grabbed the rubber mallet to hit while Jun grabbed a pot to shield himself.
The moment Chang-Gi grabbed the mallet however he winced in pain, holding his shoulder.
Immediately a similar image popped into Yeo Jun's mind. It was Jun Wan, holding his shoulder that had been hurt.
Jun shook his head. What was this picture?
"Did you hurt yourself?" So-Bin asked Chang-Gi
"I don't remember. I think I was too drunk but I can't lift my arm very well. Was I punched in the shoulder?"
Jun lowered the pot, a distant look in his eyes.
Soo Hyun looked at him.
With his condition being what it was, someone suggested a new game that wouldn't require any physical exertion.
The group was sitting in a circle around the campfire altogether, playing a new game.
"Fold a finger if your GPA is over 4.0"  Professor Park said on her turn.  Soo Hyun and So-Bin each lowered one finger each.
"Lower a finger if you are not a student."  It was Young-Ran's turn. Professors Park and Song each lowered a finger .
Professor Park smiled. "Lower a finger if you've had Gukbap with Soo Hyun." He then proudly lowered a finger.
Professor Song laughed. "Professor Park. Do you understand the rules of the game?"
It was Jun's turn. "Fold a finger if you have straight bangs."
Everyone looked at Soo Hyun who was not lowering a finger.
Professor Park motioned to his bangs.
"What?" Soo Hyun questioned. "Mine is not straight." He said this with a very straight face.
"It looks different every day" Mi-Ju who was staring at Soo Hyun commented. "It's not always straight." Yeo Jun looked at her. That was meant to tease Soo Hyun, he hadn't expected that commentary from Mi-Ju. He frowned a little, a bud of possessiveness in his heart.
Reluctantly, Soo Hyun lowered a finger, feeling a little awkward.
"It's my turn right?" Chang-Gi spoke up. "Fold a finger if you like someone here." The group looked at each other.Professor Park lowered a finger. That was obvious. Chang-Gi, looking directly at So-Bin, lowered a finger.So-Bin,averting her gaze, lowered a finger. Mi-Ju, here eyes still on Soo Hyun lowered a finger. Yeo Jun lowered a finger.
Yeo Jun pouted. "Gosh. We should have gotten Soo Hyun." he said. Not only did he only have one finger up, he was also curious, so very curious about Soo Hyun's feelings.
Slowly, reluctantly, Soo Hyun lowered a finger, not looking at anyone.
Yeo Jun's heart soared when he saw that finger fold inwards.Maybe he actually did...
Still he decided to tease him.
"Soo Hyun you should only lower your finger if you like someone here."
Soo Hyun looked at him and nodded. "I know."
Jun's face felt a little hot.
Soo Hyun's admission brought silence to the group and all eyes were on him.
Clearing his throat, Soo Hyun turned to Professor Park. "As the organizer, maybe we should go with your idea and do the crying session instead." he suggested.
The mood was different now that they were about to begin the sharing session.
"You can talk about anything." Professor Park encouraged the group. "Let's share our past wounds and worries.Let it all out infront of this campfire and let it go."
"Don't." Professor Park chimed in "You'll regret it tomorrow."
"You can ask questions too." Professor Park went on "If it helps, I can tell you all about my embarrassing past."
There was apprehension on the face of those young people.
"They say some moments can change your life." Soo Hyun was the first to speak "Have you ever experienced a moment like that?"
Professor Park looked at him. "There was something I believed to be true for a very long time.I used to think my ex-girlfriend dumped me because I was poor. That thought tortured me throughout my youth.I was very insecure.Whenever anyone glanced at me, I thought it was because I looked poor. It took me years to learn the truth." Professor looked up from the campfire. "She was very ill at the time.I had no idea so I cursed her for dumping me and call her materialistic. " He looked at Soo Hyun "Don't let your thoughts or memories trap you and make you lose what's dear to you.You never know when the real truth could reveal itself."
At those words, Yeo Jun was pulled from the present, into a hazy past and an uncertain memory.
"Jun Wan.Can you get that for me?" a little Yeo Jun stretched his short arms up to the shelf. "My award from the race." he pointed to the trophy.
"Okay." His older brother agreed.
Jun Wan attempted to reach up to the shelf and immediately winced in pain as he held his shoulder.
"Can you not reach it?" Jun asked, disappointed. "But you're tall."
I don't think I can do it." Jun Wan replied, still holding his shoulder. "I'll ask dad."
That little boy watched as his older brother left, still holding a pained shoulder.

At A Distance, Spring Is Green -BL Version (Yeo Jun x Nam Soo Hyun)-Chapter 13 : Do you have someone that you like?
"Isn't Jjangymyeon what we eat on moving days?"
"Yes, and there's yours right there." Yeo Jun pointed  to a bowl sitting on the table.
"Right." Looking at the table, Soo Hyun was puzzled. It was laden with atleast 5 different dishes, more than enough for the two of them.
"I always enjoy having a variety of dishes." Yeo Jun explained. "This is also your welcoming party."
Soo Hyun looked at an unfamiliar dish. "What's this?"
"Nanjianwanzi." Jun replied. "The one I ordered is delicious."
"I finally get to see it for real and not just on a menu." Soo Hyun said. "It looks like minced pork, but I bet it's quite expensive."
"Are you planning to greet all of the dishes?" Yeo Jun asked Soo Hyun " 'Hello, it's nice to meet you.'" he teased.
Soo Hyun took up his chopsticks. "What's so special about this?" he took up a slice of meat and bit into it.
Yeo Jun watched as he took a bite, hoping he would like it "How is it?" he asked
"What?" Soo Hyun chewed the deliciousness a few times. "It tastes just like meat." He pointed to the abundance of food "What about these leftovers?"
"Cut the lecturing and just dig in." Yeo Jun told him with a smile. He leaned on the table "I think we'll be great roommates."
"Are you serious?" Soo Hyun looked at him.
"It's what I want." Jun replied.Still looking at Soo Hyun he added "I'm looking forward to this." He took up his glass and extended it to Soo Hyun "Let's cheers to that."
Soo Hyun smiled and clinked his own glass "Cheers."
After dinner, Soo Hyun helped to clear the dishes and put the leftovers away.
Having worked so hard over the last few days, he was tired and immediately retired to the couch in Jun's living room.
Using his arms as a pillow, he spanned the length of the furniture as he laid on his side and closed his eyes.
Yeo Jun walked to the couch that Soo Hyun was laying on. A smile was on his lips as he watched him. Soo Hyun's eyes were closed, his bang resting atop his lids. He really was a handsome person.
Reaching for the blanket laying on the side of the couch, Yeo Jun unfolded it and spread it on Soo Hyun, covering him to his chest.
He stayed in that position, inspecting Soo Hyun. Though he often told him it was weird when he smiled he actually liked it. Whenever he did, his dimples would make an appearance and he would look that much cuter.
Yeo Jun reached out and tenderly swept Soo Hyun's bangs to the side.
Ba dump! Ba dump Ba dump!. His heart thumped in his chest.
What was this feeling?
A little startled, Yeo Jun quickly retracted his hand and left the room.
Nam Soo Hyun slowly opened his eyes after Yeo Jun the room. Slowly, he reached his hand out and touched the place that Yeo Jun just touched. That feeling was back again.
3 Days Later
"I still don't know what I want to do with my life." Kim So-Bin told Soo Hyun as they walked from their class. "Pathetic right?"
"That's unexpected." Soo Hyun replied. "You've always been very assiduous."
"Thanks Soo Hyun." So-Bin smiled at him. "You're more affectionate than you seem."
"I was only stating a fact." Soo Hyun replied.
She smiled at him again. "So how is the roommate situation for you?" she changed the subject. "Jun's excited because he thinks you will get along."
"Get along?" Soo Hyun parrotted. "Jun and me?"
"Did something happen between you two?" So-Bin was curious.
Soo Hyun thought about it. For the past 3 days, his interactions with Yeo Jun were ones that definitely required some getting used to.
Take this morning for example. He'd been on his way out when Jun greeted him with a big smile, the table laden with food once more, inviting him to eat.
"There you go. Dig in." Jun pointed him to the table "Breakfasts should be big."
"But I'm late for class." he'd tried to object only to be met with a pout from his new roommate. In the end, he had to agree. "Ok. Let's eat."
He'd dug in immediately, eating spoonful after spoonful as fast as he could.
"Slow down will you?" Yeo Jun complained "I added some good quality mushrooms in there, so savour the flavours."
Soo Hyun stopped eating. "Savour them?" he questioned. "They're nothing but black chunks of mushrooms."
"It's truffle. Which costs 300,000 won per 100 mg."  Jun informed him.
Hearing this, Soo Hyun choked on his next bite.
"Watch yourself." cautioned.
"What?" Soo Hyun asked in disbelief "What exactly is this? 300,000 won did you say? Are you out of your mind?"
Jun was unbothered. "It's a bit too much for breakfast I guess.I wanted to have it with wine in the evening but you're too busy with your part time jobs."
"That's not what I mean." Soo Hyun was still in disbelief. He looked at his plate. "How can you eat mushrooms that are pricier than rib-eye?" He looked at Jun while he scolded. "Don't you ever buy this again."
Even though he was being scolded, Yeo Jun smiled at Soo Hyun and nodded. "Right. Sure thing." he agreed.
"Can't you talk to Jun for me?" Soo Hyun asked So-Bin after relaying the story of the mushrooms. "Tell him to keep the truffle to himself.I've had indigestion ever since I heard its price."
"Sure." So-Bin as the friend between them nodded in agreement.
"How can mushrooms be more than how much I spend on food for the entire month?" Soo Hyun grumbled to himself as he left So-Bin behind. "One can get mushrooms in the woods you know." he reasoned.
Yeo Jun really was a different person, he shook his head as he ruminated on this things, leaving So-Bin watching him with a knowing smile on her face.
Ding Dong!
The ringing of the doorbell pulled Soo Hyun towards it.
When he opened the door there was no one there. What was there were boxes. Lots and lots of boxes.
He shook his head and brought them in.
"My things are here." Yeo Jun commented when he saw the items.
"You bought all of this?" Soo Hyun asked
"Mn." Yeo Jun nodded. "I needed new clothes."
Soo Hyun looked at him. He highly doubted Jun needed new clothes.
"Let's try them on." Jun excitedly ripped the boxes open.
"Ta-Da." a pleased Yeo Jun preened as he looked at himself in the mirror after trying on one of his outfits. "What do you think?" he asked Soo Hyun, adjusting this  part and that part. "Doesn't it suit me perfectly?"
Soo Hyun looked at him from head to toe. "I've seen you wear that many times."
Jun was shocked by this response. "What?" he looked at himself. "What do you mean? It's brand new."
Soo Hyun was confused. "But I've seen it before."
Jun sighed and grabbed Soo Hyun's hand "Follow me."
Soo Hyun had no choice but to follow.
"Ta-Da." Yeo Jun led him to his closet.
Soo Hyun looked at the scene before him. "Why do you have so many of the same clothes?" he asked after scanning the closet.
Jun sighed again. It was obvious he didn't get it.
"A V-neck, a round neck, over-fit, slim-fit, white as snow and white with a little splash of ivory ." Jun touched different pieces of clothes. "They're in different colours, fabric and style." he explained to Soo Hyun who was only seeing all the same items.
"You have money to waste, is that it? He was scolding Jun again "They all seem the same to me."
"Does everyone having straight bangs make everyone Nam Soo Hyun?" Jun argued. "No. Right?"
Soo Hyun eyed him "You must think you're so clever." Stuffing his hands in his pockets he walked away.
"Go ahead and choose one. It's a welcoming gift!" Jun called after him.
Soo Hyun ignored him.
"Don't you think you should find someone to date?" Yeo Jun asked Soo Hyun was they walked from their apartment on the way to school.
"It'll never happen." Soo Hyun replied.
"Are you sure? Why not?"
"You don't come across decent people that easily." Soo Hyun replied.
"I'm sure there will be someone for you." Jun told him.
"You're sure?" he stopped walking to look at the one beside him.
"Because you're a decent guy." Jun looked at him.
"Only say what you mean." Soo Hyun said
Jun smiled at him. "Got it." He started walking again. "Besides, that girl seems to like you."
"What girl?" Soo Hyun enquired. "That one. So-Bin's roommate."
Soo Hyun thought about it momentarily.
"Oh. Mn."
"Mn?" Jun queried. "What kind of response is that?"
"I don't like her." he said flatly.
Hearing this string of words lifted Jun's heart a bit. "Well...do you have someone that you like?" he glanced at Soo Hyun
Soo Hyun looked at him. "Mn." he nodded. "I think so."
Jun bit his lip "Who is it?" he asked "Maybe I can help you."
"Help me how?"
"I don't know. I'm usually pretty good at this kind of thing."
Soo Hyun raised a brow. "Really?" Jun nodded. "Then what about you?" he asked Jun.
"What about me?"
"Don't you have someone you like?" Soo Hyun asked.
Yeo Jun thought about it for a moment and then nodded. "I think so."
Soo Hyun nodded as they kept walking. "Aren't you going to ask who it is?" Yeo Jun questioned.
Soo Hyun shook his head. "I'm sure if you wanted me to know, there is nothing I could do to stop you from telling me."
Yeo Jun smiled at him.
Later that day
Did he forget what happened last time?
Why is he messing with her again?
Isn't she just Yeo Jun's friend?
I heard they were dating.
They seem pretty close.
She's not even that pretty.
They're always together.
They can't really be dating.
Is this okay to do?
The comments online were fast and furious as Chun-Guk streamed live. He needed to find a way to get back Yeo Jun. He couldn't touch Nam Soo Hyun but So-Bin was weak and would be less likely to defend herself.
Who did Jun think he was? He'd gotten into so much trouble after that one fight.
"I can't believe this idiot is actually going through with it." San Tae said outloud as he watched the live stream.
"Who? Doing what?" Gung-Ho arrived.
Sang Tae attempted to put his phone away. "No one. I know nothing."
Not buying it, Gung-Ho grabbed his phone.
"What's this? Isn't that Kim So-Bin?"
"Yes." Sang Tae confirmed.
"What about her?" Jun, who was passing by questioned.
Neither of the nervous looking boys answered.
"Tell me. What about her?" Jun shouted.
Sang Tae reluctantly handed the phone to Jun.
[Having fun with a college student]. Jun's pupils shrank when he saw what was happening.
"Where is she?" he asked.
"I don't know and I'm not at fault here." Sang Tae replied.
"What?" Jun was incredulous .He looked at Sang Tae in disgust. "You only mentioned it so of course  you're not at fault. But if anything happens to her, you'll be considered as an accomplice."
"Why?" Sang Tae was rattled
"Because you conspired with him." Jun replied. "You'll be questioned by the police which could lead to being an ex-con at 20."
"But.." Jun's words were clearly getting to Sang Tae "I really don't know where that is." He turned to Gung-Ho. "Gung-Ho. Where is that place?"
Gung-Ho skimmed a glance. "Isn't that Chun-Guk's club room. Check the cabinets."
More people who had gathered at the scene took a look at the feed. "Right. It looks like it." They agreed.
At this confirmation, Yeo Jun took off running, fuelled by his anger.
He dialled So-Bin's number. No answer.
The distance to the club room seemed endless.
The stairs to get to the doorway were just as neverending.
Jun's legs ached and he was winded from the running but he needed to get there.
When he finally arrived the door was locked.
"So-Bin!" he called.
From the other side he could hear screams and signs of a struggle.
With his adrenaline pumping, he kicked the door open.
What he saw was enough to make him sick to his stomach.
Seeing red, he lunged at Chun-Guk.
"Let go of her you jerk!" he hit him in the face, causing him to stumble into the cabinets.
He hauled him to his feet. "Get up!"
"I'm sorry." Chun-Guk wailed, rubbing his hands fervently together as he pleaded.
Yeo Jun raised his fist but the blow was suspended in mid-air. This scene. This image of someone cowering in fear in the corner, rubbing pleading hands together haunted him.It provoked memories long forgotten, deeply buried.
As these blurred images manifested, Jun tossed Chun-Guk aside and turned to So-Bin.
"Are you alright?"
"Jun. Watch out!" So-Bin screamed.
Chun-Guk hurled an object towards him before grabbing him by the collar.
The two exchanged blows, Jun's anger reaching dangerous levels, refusing to back down. They were in a deadlock, knowing that whomever got their hands free first would deliver the next blow.
The next blow however was not dealt by either of them but by Young-Ran who came charging in with a kick to Chun-Guk's stomach that dislodged him.
Within seconds more footsteps could be heard as security personnel arrived.
"So-Bin. Are you alright?" Jun asked his friend who'd been cast aside in the fray.
Tears were in her eyes as she shook her head.
"I'm sorry." Jun pulled her into an embrace. "It's my fault. I'm sorry."
"Are you guys alright?" Young-Ran asked the two.
"Young-Ran. How did you get here?" a bloodied Jun asked.
"I came looking for Soo Hyun and I saw the live. I had to wring it out of his idiot friends to find where you were."
Jun nodded. "Thank you."
"I had to come. I don't think Soo Hyun would want you guys to be hurt. You mean alot to him."
With difficulty, since he was feeling pains in some parts, Jun stood to his feet and helped So-Bin to stand.
"Let's get you cleaned up." she looked at Jun's bloodied face.
People were still gathered when the three exited the building.
Just minutes before Chun-Guk had been led away by security. Now a bloodied Yeo Jun appeared.
The whispers were endless.
Jun didn't care about those whispers, nor did he care about those curious eyes.
It had taken him too long to make true friends and he would be damned if anyone dared try to mess with them.
To mess with them, was to mess with him and one fact was true--- the person behind that dazzling smile was never to be taken lightly.

At A Distance, Spring Is Green -BL Version (Yeo Jun x Nam Soo Hyun)-Chapter 12 : Just live in the moment. And don't die
Soo Hyun accepted the form from Miss Seol.
He looked at the caption : Drop Out Form.
"Soo Hyun. Is everything alright with you?" Miss Seol asked.
"Yes." he replied.
"How about you get through this semester and take some time off?" she said
He looked at her. "Will this be processed right away?" he asked.
"After filling out the form you need to talk to Professor Park and get his approval." she replied.
Soo Hyun nodded. "Okay." before leaving.
"Oh. It's that rich junior of Soo Hyun's" Koo Hyun was glad to finally see someone he knew.
"Oh. Hello. We meet again." Jun greeted Soo Hyun's brother.
"Hi. Have you seen Soo Hyun?' he asked. "His class ends around this time but he wouldn't let me come so I didn't tell him I'm coming."
"I'm pretty sure he's at work." Jun replied.
"You mean the one at the school cafeteria?"
Jun nodded. "Yes.Come on. I'll walk you there."
With Koo Hyun's assent, they set off.
When they arrived, they saw Soo Hyun putting items away. Koo Hyun smiled when he saw his brother and trotted away in the direction he headed off to.
Yeo Jun watched him go, pouting slightly. Soo Hyun would probably have lunch with his brother, without him.
Soo Hyun was packing his books for his next class in his backpack when Koo Hyun darkened the doorway of the room he'd been staying in.
"You were living here?" he asked.
"What are you doing here?" Soo Hyun replied.
Koo Hyun's eyes scanned the room slowly. "So it's true."
"Let's go." Soo Hyun attempted to lead him away
"I quit studying for the police academy." Koo Hyun announced. "I came to tell you that."
"What are you talking about?"
"I have to make money." Koo Hyun replied "I can't see you have such a hard time anymore."
Soo Hyun sighed. "Koo Hyun---Do you really think that's helping me?"
"How can I just sit and study, when I know you're living like this?"
"Pull yourself together!" Soo Hyun shouted. "I don't care about my education.Making a living comes first for me.And I'll take responsibility for you and mom.So stop spewing nonsense and get out of here."
Koo Hyun looked at his brother with teary eyes  before he left.
Soo Hyun sighed, the rims of his eyes reddening. There was no other option for him. This was his only way.
Yeo Jun was still standing in the cafeteria when Koo Hyun reappeared wearing a distraught expression.
"Hey--" he tried to stop him as he blew by, with his head down.
"I'm sorry." Koo Hyun apologized without stopping.
"Can we talk?" Yeo Jun held on to him.
Soo Hyun was sitting in the empty classroom when he received a text message from his uncle.
[Koo Hyun transferred the money for your mother's surgery. I'll make sure she gets the treatment she needs.I'm sorry I couldn't be of help. I cannot thank you enough.]
Soo Hyun's already fragile heart, sank a depth lower. No one needed to tell him, he knew exactly what had happened.
With a heavy heart, he dialled his brother's number.
"Koo Hyun. Where did you get the money for mom's surgery?"
[I borrowed it from a friend. You're not the only one with a rich friend.]
"Rich friend. Who?"
[He's my friend]
"Did you...meet Jun?" Soo Hyun was hesitant to ask. There was a moment of silence on the other line. "You didn't right?"  Koo Hyun's continued silence was all the confirmation he needed. Without another word, he hung up.
Scrolling in his logs, he looked for Yeo Jun's number. He was about to dial but stayed his hand. He was tired. Infinitely tired of everything. He retrieved the drop out form from his backpack and filled it in. This would be his next step.
"Can I tell you a story about myself?" Professor Park asked Soo Hyun as they sat down for a meal. Soo Hyun had spotted him in the hallway just to turn in his form for approval. Professor Park had in turn, invited him to a meal, so here they were.
"Sure, go ahead." Soo Hyun replied.
"When I was in school, I took a leave of absence three times. I couldn't pay the tuition.I didn't want to tell anyone and I would have rather died than owe someone."
Soo Hyun nodded. "I see."
"But" Professor Park went on "There was this one guy who would always call me and buy me a meal. And I was able to get through those hard times because of those meals."
Soo Hyun looked at him "It's painful for me to receive help when I can't return the favour."
Professor Park smiled at him "Soo Hyun. Things will change.Even if it seems like it never will.I thought I was all alone but that was all in my head.Open your heart, ask for help, don't reject it and stay strong. If you go through all that hardship, you will eventually have more than enough time to return the favour." Professor Park picked up his chopsticks. "Call me anytime. I'll buy you a meal."
"Thank you Professor." Soo Hyun felt overwhelmed.
After they parted ways Soo Hyun thought once more of Yeo Jun. Retrieving his phone, he looked at his name and dialled.
"I need to talk to you Jun."
"Are you the one who gave Koo Hyun the money for my mom's surgery?" Soo Hyun asked Jun as they stood by the river, gazing over the water in the night.
"Are you mad at me?" Jun asked, not looking at Soo Hyun.
"Thanks for your help, but don't do that again." Soo Hyun replied "If I need money, I'll do whatever it takes to get it." he sighed. "I keep letting you see me at my worst."
"You've seen my anxious too." Jun pointed out
"Why do we keep letting each other see the things we want to hide from others?" Soo Hyun finally looked at Jun
Jun sighed. "Right?"
"Do you know what's really miserable?" Soo Hyun asked . Jun looked at him. "Being so broke that you can't protect those who are dear to you."
"Some have nothing to protect even if they have the money to do it." Jun replied. "I'm more pitiful thank you right?"
"Is this a competition?"
"well then...Let's talk about something more cheerful." He looked at the scenery. "It's nice here."
"Will my misery ever end?" Soo Hyun asked.
"I'm not too sure." Jun replied "But I think it does come to an end eventually."
They both sighed.
"Is your mother in serious condition?" Jun asked
"She hurt her back working when she was young and it's been torturing her all her life."
"I hope the surgery goes well." Jun expressed. "You seem to have a good relationship with your mother and your brother as well." He paused "My mom says she hates me. She calls me a hypocrite"
"What about you?" Soo Hyun asked. "Do you also think that?"
"Isn't that why you didn't like me at first?" Jun countered
"You are not a sly hypocrite." Soo Hyun replied as they began walking back side by side.
"What?" Jun was surprised by Soo Hyun's response.
"The things your mom says about you, they're not true." he looked into Yeo Jun's eyes. "It's just her twisted opinion of you.If someone ever says awful things to you, it means that person is hurting inside.Do not take it to heart, even if it's something your parents said."
Jun was still stunned by Soo Hyun's words. "I'll get going." Soo Hyun bid him goodbye.
"Soo-Hyun." he called after him.
Soo Hyun stopped walking and turned around.
"You actually turned around." Yeo Jun smiled tenderly at Soo Hyun. "Get home safely."
"Jun." Soo Hyun looked at him. "I never hated you."  With that, he turned and left.
Yeo Jun made the rest of the journey back to his apartment alone. After Soo Hyun left, he reflected on his life this far and the words he'd heard time again that had pierced his heart.
No one in that house misses you or wants you there
You have no family
That's right. He had no family but for the first time, he felt like he shouldn't be sad anymore. He smiled at the thought.
The next day
Again he was dozing off. As he sat beside So-Bin for their lecture, Yeo Jun watched Soo Hyun's head for the millionth time. Since the beginning of the class his eyes had barely stayed opened.
When he reached out to touch him, So-Bin stayed his head and shook her head.
"Soo Hyun. Why do you keep dozing off these days?" Jun asked as the last of his peers filed out of the room after class.
"I have another part time job now, so I'm a bit tired."
"Soo Hyun. You can take my notes." So-Bin extended her book to him.
Soo Hyun accepted it gratefully with a smile. "Thanks. I'll give you the list of previous exam questions next time."
"Are you alright?" a stunned Jun asked Soo Hyun.
"What?" Soo Hyun looked at him.
"This is weird. This is so unlike him." He looked at So-Bin. "Why is he smiling?"
So-Bin smiled in turn. "Why? It's nice to see."
"Well, this is not the Nam Soo Hyun I'm used to."
Soo Hyun looked a little awkward.
"Soo Hyun, I'll buy you a meal to celebrate this positive change."
"No thanks--" Soo Hyun replied.
Jun was disappointed "Right. You're still the same."
"Right. I wonder if there 's another way." So-Bin asked.
Soo Hyun raised his hand  tentatively. "Let me.. I want to treat you guys."
So-Bin and Yeo Jun exchanged surprised looks.
"Yes. Let me buy you lunch."
The other two agreed.
"We could have gone to a nice place." Soo Hyun said as he sat the table with his friends.  "I may not have the chance to treat you again."
"You sure will." Yeo Jun smiled. "This is only the beginning. I'll mooch off of you."
Soo Hyun looked at him and shook his head, smiling a little.
"Oh Mi-Ju." they heard so-Bin give out.
Soo Hyun and Yeo Jun looked.Standing a few paces away, with her tray was So-Bin's roommate, Mi-Ju.
She walked over and took the only empty seat at the table, the one beside Soo Hyun.
"Hello." she greeted Soo Hyun with a sweet smile.
Soo Hyun nodded politely.
"You know she can draw very well right?" So-Bin opened the conversation after Mi-Ju had taken her seat
"Gosh.Stop it." Mi-Ju blushed.
"Show him your profile photo." So-Bin encouraged.
Without hesitation, Mi-Ju retrieved her phone and showed Soo Hyun a portrait.
"Isn't she a genius?" So-Bin asked as Mi-Ju showed the picture around.
Soo Hyun nodded. "Yes. You're good."
"It's a portrait." Mi-Ju said proudly.
"Oh." Yeo Jun looked at it. "Is that me?"
Soo Hyun smiled. Jun looked at him. "What? Did you just scoff at me? What was funny? It looks just like me."
"No it doesn't." So-Bin replied. She was right. Anyone could see there was no resemblance between what Mi-Ju drew and Yeo Jun.It actually bore a slight resemblance to Soo Hyun. Jun remembered the way she'd looked at him at his birthday party.
"What?" Jun looked around, playing dumb "What's will all this awkwardness?"
"Soo Hyun. Can you spare me a moment later?" Mi-Ju turned to Soo Hyun.
Yeo Jun looked suspiciously from one to the other. What did she want to talk to him about?
"It's such a nice day isn't it?" Mi-Ju spoke to Soo Hyun after they'd left the others.
"Did you want to talk to me about something?" he asked.
She took a deep breath. "I like you."
"I'm sorry." Soo Hyun replied.
"Are you rejecting me? In just three seconds? Tell me the reason atleast."
"Any guy would like you." Soo Hyun replied.
"But why not you?" she asked "I just need you. You're all I need."
Soo Hyun looked at her. "I'm..I'm sorry." was all he could say as he turned to walk away.
"No. I'm sorry for liking you without your permission." Mi-Ju called after him. Soo Hyun slowed his steps but didn't turn around. Not even when he heard her voice breaking. "I wish you weren't so hot because I can't make you mine." She was crying now "I shouldn't have said anything.I should have kept it to myself."
He finally turned to look at her but there was nothing he could say. For her he had no feelings.
Soo-Bin and Yeo Jun were sitting on the benches by the river hanging out.
"What's with your friend?" he asked casually.
"Who?"
"The one from lunch today."
"Oh. Mi-Ju."
Yeo Jun nodded. "Mn." He tried to keep his tone light. "Does she...like Soo Hyun?"
Soo-Bin nodded. "I think so." she leaned in closer. "I think she wanted to confess to him."
The words caused Yeo Jun to frown. He knew it. Realizing his expression was a little sour, Soo-Bin looked at him. "What?"
Jun shrugged. "Nothing." he lied as he opened his backpack.
"What's that?" Soo-Bin's eye caught the notebook floating around in Jun's bag.
"Oh. This?" he held it up. "It's Soo Hyun's death note." he told her. "I saw your name in it too."
Soo-Bin grabbed it. "Let me see."
Jun attempted to retrieve it. "it's like his secret ledger."
Soo-Bin flipped it open.
It's all over now. Those were the first words that caught Yeo Jun's eyes the minute she opened the book.
"May 12? That's today." Soo-Bin said.
It's all over now. Yeo Jun turned the words over in his head. He grabbed the book from Soo-Bin.
A text alert came in.
[Nam Soo Hyun sent you 1 million Won]
Jun's heart froze.
"What is it?" Soo-Bin asked.
"Nothing." he lied.
His mind was already recalling past conversations with Soo Hyun.
I suppose you say that often, without knowing what it's really like to want to die.
I guess it's because my life sucks
You'd never be able to understand.
A very dark and frightening thought blossomed inside Yeo Jun's heart and mind.
"Hey. I've got to go somewhere." he told Soo-Bin "I'll talk to you later."
Not waiting for a reply, Jun darted off into the night, dialling Nam soo Hyun's  number as he went.
He ran as fast as his legs could take him, his mind desperately trying to think of where he might go or where he might be.
First he ran to the park, to that spot by the river. Empty.
His heart soared when he saw a figure Soo Hyun's height in the same type of plaid shirt he often wore.
"Soo Hyun." he grabbed him by the shoulder. His face fell when the person turned around. "I'm sorry." he apologized to the stranger. His heart anxious once more.
He ran from place to place. Calling time and again, going out of his mind with worry. Finally, he gave up.
Yeo Jun hung his head dejectedly as he walked back to his apartment. He was almost at the entrance when he looked up ahead and stopped in his tracks.
It was him.
"Soo Hyun" He ran up to him and pulled him into a hug, relief washing over him in waves. "Why did you turn off your phone? I looked for you everywhere."
"I'm sorry." Soo Hyun replied, his voice barely a whisper as Yeo Jun held him in his arms.
"What's wrong?" Yeo Jun asked when he broke their embrace.
Soo Hyun hung his head.
Jun looked at him. He was carrying all his bags. "I should go." Soo Hyun said.
"Soo Hyun." Jun stopped him. "How about we turn my lie into reality?" he asked.Soo Hyun turned slowly and looked at him. "Let's live together." Both their hearts began to beat more rapidly. "Do you not want to?" Jun asked when Soo Hyun was still silent.
"I'm sorry." Soo Hyun began, his voice low. Jun's heart sank. "For not being able to say no." Soo Hyun added. "But I promise you.."
"Don't think about the future---" Yeo Jun cut him off. "Just live in the moment." He paused, his eyes glassy with tears as he looked at Soo Hyun. "And don't die."
Soo Hyun's eyes were also moist as he simply nodded at Yeo Jun.

At A Distance, Spring Is Green -BL Version (Yeo Jun x Nam Soo Hyun)-Chapter 11 : He Grew On You
"Why did you do that?" So-Bin asked Yeo Jun with tears in her eyes as she applied ointment to his bloodied face.
"Because I hated it." Jun replied with a distant look in his eyes. "I hate that they were using you, as my friend to get to me."
So-Bin didn't know what to say.
She admitted. She was both scared and startled when Chun-Guk and Gung-Ho grabbed her at the festival, carting her off to their both talking going on and on about Yeo Jun. In the past few weeks, she had gotten closer to Yeo Jun but she couldn't say she knew him better than anyone else. There was something about him. He kept a kind of distance, even from the people he was close to.
"I'm sorry." he apologized to So-Bin again.
She shook her head. "It's fine. It wasn't your fault. They were just being ridiculous."
Jun didn't add anything else.
He felt a deep-seated annoyance as he thought about the situation. While he tried to be nice to everyone and that often came with a price, he did not appreciate being baited or forced to do things against his will.
"You should get some rest." So-Bin advised when she was finished tending to his wounds. "I'll check on you later."
Yeo Jun nodded and smiled at her. "Thanks."
Yeo Jun wasn't sure exactly when he'd fallen asleep but when he woke up, he was alone, So-Bin had left.
He retrieved his phone sitting on the table.
Nam Soo Hyun. 3 missed calls.
"Soo Hyun. Is something up?" he asked after redialling
[Are you alright?] Soo Hyun sounded worried
"Did you call me out of worry? Three times to be exact?" Yeo Jun countered
Soo Hyun sighed in relief [I'm glad you're okay.]
Next the line went dead.
Yeo Jun looked at his phone.
"What was that?" he spoke to himself  "He actually worried about me"  That thought brought a smile to his face.
The next day
Yeo Jun picked up the black book that with the letters NSH written in bold letters on the cover.
"I forgot to give this back to him."
Picking up his phone he dialled.
The phone rang once.
[Yes?] Soo Hyun's voice came on the line
"What? You answered on the first try." Jun was surprised. "I thought I had to leave three missed calls too."
Jun could hear Soo Hyun's sigh on the line. [I'm hanging up.]
"But I'm sick." Jun pouted.
[You sound perfectly healthy] Soo Hyun replied. [If you have nothing else to say--]
"I do" Jun was quick to say "You're never a patient one are you?"
[What's this about?]
"Are you free tomorrow?" Jun asked "I have something for you."
[I'm busy] Soo Hyun replied. In the next second, the line went dead.
Yeo Jun looked at his phone, a little smile budding on his lip. "I was hoping to hang up first." He thought of the expression Soo Hyun must be wearing at that very moment. Looking at the book he spoke to himself "Maybe I shouldn't give it back."  He turned the black book over a few times. "Couldn't he have bought it in a brighter colour?" But he knew the answer to that. This book suited Soo Hyun's personality very well, any other colour and it would not have been a good fit.
After hanging up with Jun, Soo Hyun was walking across the quad when Young-Ran caught up to him.
"I heard you hit someone." was her opening line "Was it because of Yeo Jun?" Soo Hyun didn't respond. "Seriously? I called you so that you could stop the fight, not throw a punch yourself."
"It just happened that way." Soo Hyun replied.
"I've never seen you get involved in other people's business." Young-Ran stated.
Soo Hyun looked at her. "I got involved in your business too."
"You nag alot." Young-Ran told him "But never have you punched anyone for me."
"That's because you threw the punches." came Soo Hyun's reply
"Right." Young-Ran admitted. "Maybe that's my issue then.I tend to do everything myself." She looked at Soo Hyun. "Yeo Jun must be a charming one to have changed you."
"We're from such different worlds that I thought we'd never get close." Soo Hyun admitted
"But now?" Young-Ran prompted
"I don't know. He's like my little brother in a way."
Young-Ran looked at him. "Is that all?" Soo Hyun looked at her but didn't answer. "So he grew on you." his friend redirected the question.
"He grew on me?"
Young-Ran smiled at her friend. "Wait here." she stopped them at a set of benches. "I'll go get us some drinks." Soo Hyun's protests went unacknowledged so in the end, he simply stood there while Young-Ran went off to do her task.
She'd just left when someone approached him.
"Soo Hyun." he heard his name.
He spun to face Mi-ju, the roommate of So-Bin and Young-Ran. "Yes?"
"Can I borrow your phone?" she asked.
"My phone?" he was puzzled. "But yours is in your hand." he pointed out.
She looked at the device in her hand awkwardly. "Oh. The battery is dead. I need to make an urgent call."
"Is that true?"
Both her eyes and her voice dipped. "No. Not really." The next split second, she looked up at him and recited a set of numbers. "It's my number. I'm sure you memorized it, being all smart and all." Soo Hyun looked at her and sighed "I should have your number too." she said with a smile "Give and take right?"
"I didn't memorize it." Soo Hyun said flatly. "I'm not smart, you see"
"But you're still handsome, so it's fine." Mi-Ju was quick to reply.
"I'm not that good looking either."
Her face fell. "Why won't you agree with me? Am I that unattractive to you?" she pouted slightly. "Wait. Don't answer that. There's a certain order to this. I won't bother you. Just tell me your number.I'll only look at your profile page." Soo Hyun was quiet "You won't allow that either?" Still no response. Getting the meaning of his silence, Mi-Ju took her leave with a sullen expression.
"Did something happen?" Young-Ran returned, handing him his drink. "Why does Mi-Ju look devastated?"
'I think I upset her." Soo Hyun confessed
"What do you mean?"
"She asked for my number."
"And?"
"I didn't give it to her."
"Why not?"
"I don't have that luxury." Soo Hyun replied.
"How can that stop you from giving her your number?"
" I mean I don't have the time to take interest in others." he looked away "Also I have nothing to offer her."
"You don't always have to give." Young-Ran pointed out. "The other person might be willing to give instead.Also. You can always make time for someone you like."
"Even though you like someone, you may still not have time for a relationship." Soo Hyun replied.
"What about now?" Young-Ran asked
"What about now?"
"Do you have someone that you like?" Soo Hyun looked at her but gave no answer.
"Hmm. Ok." Young-Ran took a sip of her drink as she sat beside her friend. She'd known him long enough to know that he would say anything he wanted to but would also not say the things that he didn't no matter what.
Yeo Jun was finally glad to be getting out of the house and back to school. So-Bin had brought him some medicine and now he was as right as rain.
"Jun. There you are." Go Sang Tae greeted Yeo Jun downstairs.
"I said we should meet on campus." Jun said when he saw him.
"But we used to walk together often.Don't act like this now." Jun didn't respond and walked on "If I were there, I would have laid Chun-Guk out flat." he said, referencing the incident from a few days ago "I left not knowing you'd come ."
Yeo Jun looked at him "But I saw you there."
"Come on." Sang Tae objected. "You probably saw wrong."
"I have someplace to stop by, so you can go ahead." Yeo Jun told him.
Sang Tae grabbed his hand "I had to move out of my apartment to pay for my mother's hospital bill. Can I bunk with you for a month?"
Yeo Jun looked at him and then to the place where he held on to his hand "I don't think so." he removed Sang Tae's hand.
"Why not? Why can't I stay at your place?"
"I have a roommate." Yeo Jun replied.
"A roommate?" Sang Tae was surprised. "Who?"
"Nam Soo Hyun." Jun said the first name that popped into his head.
"UP?" Sang Tae couldn't hide his surprise.
"Yes." Jun nodded. "Should we all bunk together?"
"Come on.I bet that's a lie."
"You lied about your dad being sick." Yeo Jun replied "Did you pay back the money you borrowed?" Sang Tae looked at the ground "How many times must I fall for your lies for you to stop?" Without another word, he left Sang Tae staring after him.
"We should talk." Yeo Jun addressed Chun-Guk as he sat with Gung-Ho and Sang Tae.
"We should talk?" Chun-Guk parrotted.
Yeo Jun walked away, waiting for him to follow.
"The police will contact you soon." Yeo Jun told Chun-Guk when they were alone.
"You're the one who provoked me you brat."
"There was too much violence, so I couldn't help it." Yeo Jun replied "I thought I should atleast give you a heads up." He walked away.
"So this is how it will be?" Chun-Guk asked "I guess Nam Soo Hyun will be my cellmate then."
Jun stopped in his tracks.
"What are you talking about?"
"Didn't you know?" Chun-Guk asked. "He attacked me the day I punched you." Yeo Jun finally had a proper look at Chun-Guk's face. It was also bruised in places.
Yeo Jun was in disbelief  "Soo Hyun punched you?"
"Just look at this" Chun Guk touched his face "Darn it. I have proof that he did it and I won't settle.I'll press charges."
A quiet anger flared within Yeo Jun and his smiling eyes turned cold. "Keep your mouth shut." he told Chun-Guk. "It's how you can save yourself." Chun-Guk looked at him, recognizing there was a certain coldness about Yeo Jun. "Leave Soo Hyun alone ." His voice carried more than a warning.
Chun Guk watched Yeo Jun as he walked away. A chill ran down his spine. "Again with that psychopathic look in his eyes."
"What did Jun say?" Gung-Ho asked Chun-Guk as the sat in class.
"He said Nam Soo Hyun was off limits." Chun-Guk replied
"He said that?"
"What a tear-jerking friendship right?" Chun-Guk spoke loudly enough so that Soo Hyun, who was sitting in his usual seat ahead of them could hear. "Or are they more than friends?"
Soo Hyun sighed deeply. He just needed to ignore them like he usually did.
"That two-faced jerk." Chun-Guk continued to gripe. "The real psychopath is Yeo Jun, not Nam Soo Hyun."
Soo Hyun couldn't take it anymore. He spun in his seat and looked at them "Hey. Shut it will you?"
"What if I don't? Will you punch me again?"
Just then, Yeo Jun strolled in, making a beeline straight for Chun-Guk.
"What?" Chun-Guk spoke up. "I provoked your roommate. So what? I heard he lives with you." Soo Hyun looked at Yeo Jun. "It's a lie isn't it?" Chun-Guk asked. "Unbelievable. I heard you lied your way all through high school too.You lied about not having a brother.Isn't this an act of bullying too? Lying and stabbing people in the back to make a fool of them is bullying on a psychopathic level." Yeo Jun allowed him to speak "Anyway. Your brother is a professor here --"
"Yes.I live with Jun." Soo Hyun interjected. Yeo Jun slowly turned his head to look at Soo Hyun "How is that any of your business?" Soo Hyun continued to address Chun-Guk.
"Really?" Gung-Ho was surprised
"The only bullies here are you two." Soo Hyun's annoyance was evident in his tone "How about I make a big deal out of this? In front of all these witnesses?"
"Why? Will you punch me again?" Chun-Guk asked.
Yeo Jun smiled as he looked at Soo Hyun.
"I see the two of you really have a knack for pissing people off." Chun-Guk frowned.
"Remember what I said." Yeo Jun looked at Chun-Guk with those cold eyes again "I told you to stay low didn't I?" Chun Guk fell silent.
"Did you really punch Chun-Guk to avenge me?" Yeo Jun asked Soo Hyun as they exited the classroom. Soo Hyun looked at him "You're not one to hit anyone. Not especially for my sake. No way." He grabbed Soo Hyun's hand that was stuffed in the pocket of his jacket "How's your fist?" Soo Hyun pulled his hand away. "You really care about me that much? Enough to get revenge for me?"
Soo Hyun finally stopped walking and looked at him. "How can you be laughing? Why haven't you reported him to the police yet?"
"That's for me to take care of." Jun replied. "You know, I always dreamed of this. Having someone who would stick up for me."
"You have the weirdest wishes." Soo Hyun commented.
"I like you." Yeo Jun blurted out, stunning both himself and Soo Hyun. "Waitt--I mean--" he fumbled for words.
"Can you leave me alone now?" Soo Hyun pretended he didn't just hear that or that his heart hitched slightly at the words.
"You know saying that will only make me more clingy."
Soo Hyun sighed, aware of the truth in Jun's words.
"Why did you say I was your roommate?" Soo Hyun changed the subject.
"Because no one else would dare come barging in."
"I see. You're using the image I have."
"I'm think about selling emojis based on you." Jun teased.  "No. Leave. Get Lost. Whatever."  he recounted some of Soo Hyun's expressions. "Sweet right?"
Before he could reply, Soo Hyun's phone rang.
[Soo Hyun.] Soo Hyun heard his brother's voice on the line.
"What's with your voice?" Soo Hyun asked.
[Mom told me not to tell you, but her back's acting up again.] Soo Hyun mouthed to Jun that he was taking off as he listened to his brother. [According to Uncle, she might not walk without surgery but mom said she'd rather die than get surgery. What should we do?]
"Isn't it obvious?" Soo Hyun replied "Don't worry about it and study hard. I'll take care of it."
After the call ended, Soo Hyun walked in a daze.
Life had done it again. Another obstacle. Another thing for him to deal with.
Once again, he was reminded for him, there were no breaks and no one to rely on. He would fix his own problems....
He wasn't sure how long he walked around and couldn't tell exactly where he want. It was all a mess, a blur of thoughts.
Taking another drink of his alcohol, he sighed deeply looking out at the night's sky.Tears pricked his eyes and the alcohol burned as it went down.
What a pitiful life..

At A Distance, Spring Is Green -BL Version (Yeo Jun x Nam Soo Hyun) - Chapter 10 : You're more humble than I thought
"We did it!" So-Bin and Jun high-fived each other as they stood outside in the quad. Their presentation was finally over and despite the unexpected trouble that Gung-Ho and his crew tried to bring at the very last minute, they'd all managed to secure A's.
Yeo Jun was feeling particularly proud of himself for achieving this feat.
"You were so good." he smiled at So-Bin, who managed to field Gung-Ho's questions with brilliance and put him to shame.
A third, unexpected hand, joined, covering Yeo Jun's hand.
"Soo Hyun." So-Bin turned her head
"I thought you were a ghost." Yeo Jun commented, teasing Soo Hyun with a smile.
Soo Hyun retracted his hand, looking a little awkward.
"I'll buy lunch." So-Bin said, beaming.
"I have a shift." Yeo Jun replied
"A Shift?" So-Bin was confused.
"I was just imitating someone." he looked at Soo Hyun
"I have a shift." Soo Hyun said.
So-Bin and Yeo Jun chortled.
"Come on. Can't you just take the day off? So-Bin asked. "The three of us should celebrate."
"I guess you got the job back." Jun said
Soo Hyun looked at him.
"What job?" So-Bin asked.
Soo Hyun looked at Jun. "You knew I got fired?"
"I stopped by. You weren't there. I just thought you got fired because of your personality."
"Did you not get my text?" he kept his eyes on Yeo Jun. "Let's talk later."
Yeo Jun's heart twitched. "Sorry. I don't have time."
"Are you busy too Jun?" So-Bin asked.
"Of course not." he looked at So-Bin. "I'm available. Where shall we go?"
Soo Hyun looked at him and shook his head before walking away.
"Let's be more clingy." So-Bin smiled at Jun before heading off to catch up with Soo Hyun.
Yeo Jun watched them go, a smile budded on his lips as he watched them, his eyes especially trained on Soo Hyun.
"I've made a friend." he said to himself  "For the first time in my life."
In the end, it was only Yeo Jun and So-Bin who went for drinks to celebrate as Soo Hyun went to work. After many drinks, it was Jun who had to take the inebriated Kim So-Bin back to her dorm. He had just dropped her off when his phone rang. Not picking it up in time, he missed the call.
Nam Soo Hyun, he read the caller ID. He smiled and redialled.
[Where are you?] Soo Hyun asked
"Must you be so clingy?"Jun countered "You should rather call your friend."
[Who? Young-Ran?]
"She really is your only friend." Jun commented.
[Do you know her?] Soo  Hyun asked
Jun smiled. "I do.Call her and I will agree to meet you."
[Call her why?]
"I just dropped So-Bin off at her dorm.Ask her to check on her?"
[Why?"] the confusion was evident in Soo Hyun's voice.
"Do you want to meet or not?" Jun asked
[Mn. Fine] Soo Hyun agreed.
"Ok. I'll meet you at the park in 5 minutes."
Yeo Jun smiled as he went. That felt good, to have Soo Hyun want to see him enough to do something he requested.Even if he probably had to brace himself for the conversation that would happen once they met, he atleast felt like he could actually handle it.
"This was you, wasn't it?" Soo Hyun asked Jun,pulling up a clip on his phone.
Jun glanced at it casually. "So what if it's me?" he asked "Did I stick my nose in where it doesn't belong again?" He frowned. "You were reinstated so that's that." He paused. "Right. Are you upset because it was me who helped?" He did his best to imitate Soo Hyun's voice  as he said this next bit "You complicate things. Get lost. Damn Scumbag." He looked at Soo Hyun "What  will it be this time? I'll release a collection of your sayings."
Soo Hyun stopped infront of him. "Thank you. I finally have a place to sleep at night."
Yeo Jun was stunned. "What's going on? This is new."
"Can I buy you a meal--?"
"No meals!" Jun refused strongly. "Don't offer any meals."
"Then--"
"Your words of gratitude. That's more than enough."
Soo Hyun looked at him. "You're more humble than I thought."
"Tell me about it. I'm usually not this easy to win over," he confessed. "But I was rejected too many times, that I am now touched."
Soo Hyun smiled at him.
"Please do not smile." Jun told him. "It's not who you are."
"How exactly am I then?"
"The ultimate...Nam Soo Hyun."
"Ultimate...I know Psycho is what follows that." Soo Hyun corrected . He smiled at Jun again before patting his shoulder "I'll get going then."
Yeo Jun smiled too. This time, watching Soo Hyun go didn't leave him battling any negative emotions, in fact, he was overjoyed. He touched his shoulder at the same place Soo Hyun did.
After Soo Hyun left, he texted Young Ran [See you tomorrow.Everything is in place]
Nam Soo Hyun sighed as he stood outside the girl's dormitory. It was the school festival, packed with a variety of booths and activities. It was also his birthday but that wasn't a fact worth mentioning.
He was only here right now because Young Ran had threatened him --if he didn't come over to their open house, he would be one friend short.
Soo Hyun was about to turn back when he heard his name being bellowed.
"Nam Soo Hyun you idiot.!" Young Ran bellowed from her window. He'd been caught. No escape.
Entering the building, he spotted Yeo Jun just up ahead, with a bouquet in his hand.
"Did So-Bin call you here too?" Jun asked realizing they were heading in the same direction.
"So-Bin?" Soo Hyun questioned.
"Mn." Jun nodded.
"I came because my friend said she'd cut me off otherwise." Soo Hyun relayed.
"Oh. Young-Ran. She's a little scary. I guess you don't want her to split you like a pineapple" Jun referenced Young Ran's physical prowess.
Soo Hyun didn't respond as Jun walked by him to knock at the door.
No response.
Soo Hyun clicked his tongue and knocked again with a little more force than Jun.
After this knock, Jun reached for the door and it swung open.
Pop...
Pop..
Pop..
Streamers went off.
Young-Ran and So-Bin laughed as they stood in the doorway.
"Mn." Jun thrusted the bouquet into his hands leaving Soo Hyun a little stunned.
Soo Hyun picked streamers from his hair and shoulders  "Talk about double trouble." he commented, realizing for the first time that So-Bin and Young-Ran were roommates. He looked at Yeo Jun who was also laughing  "And you."
"I didn't know you guys were friends." So-Bin said through her laughter.
"Aren't you surprised he has a friend?" Young-Ran giggled.
"Yes." So-Bin confirmed.
"I wasn't the only one who was surprised." Jun added.
Soo Hyun rolled his eyes. They were talking about him as though he wasn't standing right there. "Nice view." he commented, easing past the girls to step into their room.
"That reminds me of Mi-Ju." So-Bin said to Young-Ran, mentioning their other roommate."She complained about the view as soon as he got here."
"Where is she? When will she be here?" Young-Ran asked, "The more, the merrier."
These words had not left her lips long when the running click of heels could be heard down the hall. Soon thereafter, a pretty girl with hair dyed pink ran breathless to the door.
She stood at the doorway and her eyes went past everyone else, to Soo Hyun who was standing by the window. The light of the day streamed in behind him, making him look particularly handsome, his dark hair shining.
Yeo Jun looked at her. With only one glance he could tell--the instant realization made his insides feel sour. This girl had feelings for Soo Hyun.
"Let's get started." Young-Ran invited everyone in.
They all sat in a circle, donning party hats, a cake in the middle.
Yeo Jun picked up a hat and handed it to Soo Hyun.
Soo Hyun looked at the childish hat and then to Yeo Jun.
Jun sighed.. "Well, if that's the case..."
In a flash So-Bin and Young-Ran grabbed him, one by each arm. Jun quickly put the hat on, securing the string under Soo Hyun's chin.
Soo Hyun sighed.
"You don't need t look perfect while blowing out the candles." Jun told him. "Just relax." Soo Hyun looked at him "Blow them out with your nose or something, that will be funny."
"Alright! Let's sing!" Young Ran announced.
"Happy Birthday to you...Happy Birthday to you.." They began to sing with gusto.
"Wait.." Soo Hyun stopped them. All eyes turned to look at him. "Don't shove my face into the cake."
"Gosh. What are you? An old man?" Jun complained "Who does that these days? It's so childish."
"You said you have a job interview after this." So-Bin added "We wouldn't want to ruin your future."
"I ran to the bakery to buy the last cake they had. Why would I want to waste it.?" Young Ran  said
Mi-Ju raised an enthusiastic hand. "If you're doing it, I'll be his stand-in." Soo Hyun and Jun looked at her.
"Why?" Young-Ran asked.
"Uhh-- I've always wanted to do it.That's all."
"Alright. Let's sing!" Young-Ran led the group again.
The group began to sing once more with gusto.
"Happy Birthday my dear Soo Hyun." Yeo Jun heard Mi-Ju who was immediately beside him sing. His clapping slowed and he looked at her. Her dear Soo Hyun?
His attention was pulled back by the applause at the end of the song.
"Blow out the candles." Young-Ran instructed.
"Go for it." Jun encouraged.
Soo Hyun leaned forward tentatively before blowing out the candles.
The minute the flames were gone, he was grabbed again. So-Bin and Young-Ran grabbed an arm a piece and pulled him forward until his face smashed into the cake.
"Oh no.Soo Hyun." Jun tried to keep a straight face.
Soo Hyun wiggled his nose and tried to blink so the cake wouldn't get into his eyes.
How cute. Yeo Jun thought to himself as he watched Soo Hyun. His dimples appeared and disappeared as he made different faces. Yeo Jun's heart moved.
"Let's take pictures." So-Bini suggested.
Everyone leaned in, all smiles.
"It's time to play 'Truth or Dare.'." Young-Ran announced, holding a bottle in the air after everyone had eaten.Everyone except Soo Hyun cheered. "Since it's your birthday. You get to spin the bottle first."
"Spin it." Jun encouraged as Soo Hyun reluctantly took it
"Guys. I'm a human lie detector" Young-Ran addressed the group. "I'll keep this short. The punishment for lying is..." she sucked in a deep breath "I'll leave it to your imagination."
Upon hearing this, Soo Hyun got up. "I'm off."
Young Ran grabbed him by the arm, pulling him back into place.
With everyone looking at him, Soo Hyun could only sigh before spinning the bottle.
The bottle's head pointed to Young-Ran on the first turn.
"Ask away." Young Ran said casually. "An easy question please."
"What will you do if the guy you like has feelings for someone else?" it was Mi-Ju ho that asked.
"Mi-Ju. Did you make a list of questions in advance?" So-Bin teased.
"I'll let him follow his heart." Young-Ran replied.  "With that atleast."
Next. Young-Ran spun.
The bottle's head landed on Soo Hyun.
"I should get going." Soo Hyun tried to get up again.
Young Ran detained him once more.
"How many friends do you have?" Jun asked, looking at him.
Soo Hyun swallowed. "Uh...I'd say I have 2.5 friends."
"Hey!" Young-Ran exclaimed. "You got a new friend? Who?" she complained "I was going to write Nam Soo Hyun's only friend on my resume."
Jun looked at Soo Hyun. "Am I..that 0.5?"
Soo Hyun's heart skipped a beat at Jun's question.
"You wish.You'd never ever be a 0.1."
Though Yeo Jun pouted, there was also a slight smile tugging at his lips after Soo Hyun's reponse.
One the next spin, the bottle landed on Yeo Jun. So-Bin looked at him.
"Does the great Yeo Jun have someone that he likes?"
Yeo Jun scratched the back of his head. He'd been asked this question a million times before but there had never been a time when he could say yes...until now. Atleast now he thought he could say yes because he felt like there was someone that he did like.
"Yes." he finally answered, avoiding all eyes.
"Who is it?" Soo Hyun was the only who asked.
"You idiot." Young-Ran slapped his shoulder. "Why should he tell you?"
"Next person." Jun turned the attention away from himself, feeling a slight warmth in his cheeks.
"What do you want?" Yeo Jun asked Gung-Ho and Chun-Guk as they carted him off someplace. It was the evening portion of the festival and he was manning a booth with So-Bin, selling snacks.
As he approached a booth, he could hear screams and excited squeals.
"It's Jun!"
"It's him!
"So handsome."
"What are you doing?" Jun threw them off as a giggle of screaming girls surrounded him "You said it would only take a minute." he said, recalling the line they'd told him to get him to leave his station in the first place.
"Help us out here." Chun-Guk whispered, among the screaming girls "They're here to see you."
"Jun! Over here!"
He didn't know where to look in this confusion.
"I'll see you at the Marvelous Souls' Bar." he said, referencing is original station as he turned to leave.
Gung-Ho grabbed him. "Hey. Is this how it's going to be?" he whispered. "Help a brother out will you?"
Jun removed his hand "I'm a little busy right now though."
"If you leave, its over between us." Gung-Ho threatened.
Without a word, Jun left them and the screaming girls behind.
"How can you not love us anymore?" Gung-Ho shouted as Jun retreated."Don't go."
The excited screams of the girls who had gathered turned to disappointed wails as they watched Yeo Jun leave.
"What do we do now? Chun-Guk asked.
"I have another idea." Gung-Ho slapped him on the shoulder.
Not again. Not again . Yeo thought to himself, running as fast his legs would take him. Through the park, across the quad, back to the festival.
When he arrived, his pupils shrank. A crowd had gathered and there, sitting at the head of the spectacle, was Kim So-Bin, flanked by Gung-Ho and Chun-Guk.
His anger flared immediately.
"What's going on here?" he shouted.
"it's him."
"It's Yeo Jun."
"He's here."
There were various whispers from the crowd.
"What's going on?" he asked, as he walked up to them
"Took you long enough." Gung-Ho said, pleased with himself that his plan seemed to have worked. "You should have come earlier."
"Alright everyone." Chun-Guk commanded everyone's attention. "The man of the hour, Yeo Jun is here."
"What are you doing?" Jun asked again. Is it fun living like this?"
"What?" Chun Guk's smile faded.
"I guess it's fun for you. Then again, that's all you know how to do."
The crowd was stunned by the new development.
"What's going on?" some people asked
"He's scary." others commented. "What if they get into a fight?"
"What did you just say?" Chun-Guk stepped closer.
"You're just using her to make money" Jun replied  "So you can make money to pay back for drinking all that alcohol at that expensive bar."
Chun-Guk saw red. "Why you little.." he shoved Yeo Jun.
Yeo Jun retrieved his wallet from his pocket. Taking out a few thousand wons he threw them at Chun Guk, hitting him in the face with a thwack.
The crowd gasped.
"Take it." Yeo Jun told him.
The chatter grew among the gasps.
"Did he just..."
"Is that money?"
So-Bin stepped forward. "Jun. Let's go."
He slowly removed her hand. "Sorry." he apologized to her. It was all his fault.
Recovering from the stupefying moment, Chun-Guk grabbed Yeo Jun by the collar. "You think just because you're right you can do whatever you want? Do you think this is your money?"
"It doesn't matter where it came from," Yeo Jun didn't flinch. "Try begging for money. I'll give you more."
Chun-Guk threw his head back in disbelief. "Oh.You fooled me." He looked at Jun with crazed eyes. "You were just pretending to be nice right?"
Jun met his gaze "It's driving you crazy right?" He swatted Chun-Guk's hand away. "Than you can just kill me." He looked at So-Bin "But don't dare bring my friends into this and cause trouble."
"Friends?" Chun-Guk sneered. "I thought we were your friends."
An ugly expression was on Yeo Jun's face. "You were never my friends. You were just people I bought with a card."
Chun-Guk lost it.  He swung, landing a blow to Yeo Jun's face.
Jun staggered backwards but still managed to stand until Chun-Guk kicked him to the ground.
Jun hit the ground with force and suddenly there were..
Screams.. pain...fear...an object raised...
His breaths became shallow as he struggled to his feet.
The tone of the gathered crowd shifted rapidly.
"Hurry and record this."
"Shouldn't we stop them.."
"Did he just hit him?"
"Get closer.."
In the end, no one moved and Yeo Jun struggled to his feet.
"That's not going to cut it." he said through laboured breaths, closing in on Chun Guk once more.
Chun Guk swung again. Hitting Jun to the ground.
Yeo Jun spat blood but struggled to his feet once more.
"Keep going. I'll pay you 100,000 won per punch." he challenged, walking up to Chun Guk once more. "How about it? Go ahead."
Two punches was what it took to hit Jun to the ground this time.
"Keep going! Keep going!" Yeo Jun screamed like a mad man from his place on the ground.
"Come..Come here." Chun Guk called.
The crowd was now very anxious. There were various calls for "someone to stop them" but in the end, no one moved.
"Keep going." Yeo Jun struggled to Chun-Guk again
Another hit to the face and he was down once more.
"That's enough." Gung-Ho finally restrained his friend.
"That little..He's a psycho!" Chun-Guk screamed as he was dragged away.
Yeo Jun struggled to his feet once more under the eyes of the gathered crowd. Ambling to Kim So-Bin he said to her "I'm sorry. Let's go."
Nam Soo Hyun was in the square, handing out flyers when a laughing group of friends ran by him.
Seeing that happy scene, Soo Hyun smiled and retrieved his phone.
Going to his gallery, he looked at the pictures from his party earlier that So-Bin had sent. The smiling faces made him smile too.He ran his thumb across the smiling face of Yeo Jun.
Suddenly his phone rang.
Young-Ran.
"Hey."
Her voice was frantic [ You should go to see So-Bin and Yeo Jun. Apparently there was a fight.]
"What?"
[Head back to the university festival. He got into a fight with Chun-Guk.]
Soo Hyun darted off immediately. His legs pumped hard and his chest ached slightly but he wouldn't stop.
As he approached the quad he saw Chun-Guk and Gung-Ho.
"Where's Yeo Jun" he asked.
"How should we know?" Gung-Ho sneered.
Soo Hyun grabbed Chun-Guk by the shoulder as they attempted to brush by him.
"Let go of me!" he flashed him off "That little psycho is probably unconscious somewhere. Why?"
Leaning back, Soo Hyun swung, hitting Chun-Guk in the face and knocking him to the ground. His chest heaved violently as he looked at him laying there.
Without another word, he ran off. He had to find Yeo Jun.

At A Distance, Spring Is Green -BL Version (Yeo Jun x Nam Soo Hyun)-Chapter 9 :The one who makes me feel miserable and also makes me feel happy
"Choose your side." Gung-Ho said to Yeo Jun as they got ready to leave the classroom.
Nam Soo Hyun spun in his seat to look at Yeo Jun.
Yeo  Jun looked at Nam Soo Hyun."Of course I'll come with you. Where else would I go?"
Gung-Ho was pleased "I knew you'd join us. Don't tell me you were torn. That hurts my feelings"
"I almost doubted you and thought you were ditching us." Chun-Guk added.
Jun smiled at them. "Let's go."
Keeping his eyes front, Yeo Jun left the room.
Nam Soo Hyun sighed deeply as he watched him go.
"What happened?" So-Bin asked Soo Hyun. "Why did he leave?"
Soo Hyun looked at her. He knew he was the reason Yeo Jun left the group. It had been a few days since the restaurant incident. Yeo Jun hadn't called him once. Just like he wanted, he'd gotten lost. Just now, he hadn't even looked at him. He'd finally gotten what he wanted. So why didn't he feel thrilled?
"We already have the material we need." Soo Hyun told her. "We can work on it ourselves." He handed her the report from Yeo Jun.
So-Bin still looked confused but she didn't press the matter further.
"Hey. Nam Soo Hyun works part time at the cafeteria." Chun-Guk announced as they sat at the cafe.
"The cafeteria? " Gung-Ho asked. "What about his backer.?"
"Let's go there and....."
This conversation, all these words being passed between them were as distant as the stars to Yeo Jun. For the past few days his heart ached and his head was cloudy. For the first time he'd genuinely, sincerely made efforts for someone to be his friend, without asking or expecting anything in return. But the person he'd chosen was insistent on rejecting him at every turn.
Thoughts of Soo Hyun were occupying his thoughts when Hye Ji called his name.
"Jun?"
Pulled back to the present moment he looked at her. "Yes?"
"Let's do the assignment at your place." she suggested.
"Uh..my mother is supposed to come by that day." he replied.
"Your mother?" Gung-Ho questioned.
"This is my first time  hearing you talk about your mom." Chun-Guk pointed out.
"Did we mention what did it would be?" Hye Ji said
"I'm hungry." Gung-Ho changed the subject. "Let's go grab something to eat."
"I'm safe here." Yeo Jun thought to himself "No one is curious about me.And I'm not curious about them. No pain. And no joy.I'm safe here."
Gung-Ho slammed his tray on the counter.
"Give me lots of meat and I don't any onions." he said to Nam Soo Hyun. "I'm allergic to onions." Soo Hyun looked at him before issuing the standard portion. "Are you ignoring a customer's needs?" Gung-Ho looked at his tray in displeasure.
"He just doesn't care." Chun Guk commented. "He doesn't care if you die after eating the onions."
"Are you here to see me?" Soo Hyun asked.
"You must be busy working. So we'll take care of the team project and give you credit. No need to thank us."
"I'm doing my team project with So-Bin." Soo Hyun replied "And we're not giving you credit."
"Do what you want. We'll see who wins in the end." Gung-Ho sneered.  "By the way, where's Jun?"
Nam Soo Hyun bristled at the name.
"Jun is afraid of Soo-Hyun." Chun-Guk replied. "He keeps stealing money from Jun." Nam Soo Hyun gripped the ladle tighter in his hand.
"Oh.I see. He's stealing money from his junior. tsk tsk." Gung-Ho's face and voice bore disgust. "That makes me feel so ashamed as your senior."
"Is he a loan shark?" Chun-Guk asked."He lends him money and makes him pay it back with hefty interest."
Gung-Ho laughed."Does he have a double personality or something? Is he a psychopath?"
"Don't you have a brain?" Soo Hyun asked.
Gung-Ho's face turned ugly. "What?"
"I was wondering if you ever use it or maybe it's just there for decoration."
Gung-Ho lost his cool and shoved the tray away, making a mess as the contents of his tray spilled into the main line of food.
"Cool down." Chun-Guk held on to him.
"I can't take it anymore." he shouted.
Ignoring Gung-Ho, Nam Soo Hyun busied himself to clean the mess amidst the eyes that were now staring because of the commotion.
Yeo Jun took another drink from his beer as he sat in his apartment.
A message came in on his phone.
Group chat :Hye Ji: You didn't go home right? We're at the school cateria. Hurry up.
Jun sighed. He was about to put his phone down when another message came in.
Group chat: Chun-Guk: UP and Gung-Ho had a fight at the cafeteria.
Jun's eyes widened and he sprang to his feet.
"You had a fight with a friend while working?" Soo Hyun's superior reprimanded him. "This place isn't a playground."
"I'm so sorry." Soo Hyun bowed deeply.
"Pay back the money for the ingredients you ruined " his boss demanded.
"You can deduct it from my pay."
"What are you talking about? You're fired!" Soo Hyun's heart dropped. "Kids today are so shameless.I was going to go easy on you since you go to school here but making money is no joke." His boss flounced away.
Soo Hyun ran after him, clinging to his hand. "Please! Please give me another chance." he begged. "I'll do better."
"Let go of me."
Soo Hyun was desperate. "Please just give me another chance."
"Let go!" The man demanded.
"I'll do better."
"You're fired!" he shouted. "Get out of my sight."
Soo Hyun sighed and bowed his head politely before heading to the back.
Yeo Jun slowly followed the path Soo Hyun had taken earlier.
Making his way past the kitchen he found a door ajar with a streak of light shining through. As he walked closer, he could hear strange sounds.
Being careful not to get too close, he looked inside.
There, on the floor, huddled in the corner, Nam Soo Hyun sat with his back to the door.
He hung his head low and sighed as he wiped his tears. Even without seeing his face, Jun knew his tears were still flowing.
Soo Hyun's sobs and sniffles were a heartbreaking sound. He wanted to go forward, to open that door, but his legs wouldn't carry him forward and his arm wouldn't move. In the end, with a heavy heart, he turned and silently went back the way he had come.
His thoughts were mired with this scene as he walked languidly in the night.
"Yeo Jun." a voice called from behind him. "When did you get here?" Soo Hyun asked as he ran up to him.
Yeo Jun slowly turned to face him. "Oh. I guess the group meeting ended." With a polite nod, he took his leave.
"I shouldn't have called you there." Soo Hyun called after him. Yeo Jun stopped walking "I'm sorry."
"Why?" Jun looked at him "I had a nice meal." he lied.
"I pitied you." Soo Hyun said "I saw how anxious you were . I think I was relieved.Life was fair after all. Just because you're unhappy doesn't mean I am happy.I was wrong."
A gentle breeze blew between them and Yeo Jun smiled a little "You don't even have a place to go to and you're pitying me? Don't be so arrogant. I was so ignorant. Then again, we don't need to be on the same level to have an actual conversation. I was curious, but it isn't fun.I don't want to do it anymore."
"Habits are hard to fix." Soo Hyun replied. "People live the way they used to. Even if you try to change, you go back to the place your heart and mind remembers." He looked into Yeo Jun's eyes. "It's the same for me. No matter how hard I try, I go back."
Yeo Jun's heart slowed. "What are you talking about?"
"I know you don't mean it"
"What do you know?!" Jun shouted. "Just get over yourself and go away." He turned and walked away.
Soo Hyun watched him go.
"I'm afraid to leave my safezone." Yeo Jun thought to himself as he walked away, not daring to look back at Soo Hyun. "I'm scared."
A few days later
"What are you doing?!" Yeo Jun shouted at the 3 people surrounding Kim So-Bin.
"We were just trying to get the material back that you gave their group." Gung-Ho replied.
Yeo Jun looked at So-Bin as she clutched her chest, looking on the brink of collapse. He was disgusted. "I'm quitting this team." he announced as he led So-Bin away.
"Are you betraying us?"
Yeo Jun looked at them and left.
"Are you okay?" he asked So-Bin as they sat on a bench outside.
She nodded. "I am. Thank you."
He frowned. "Those guys are really something else. I'm sorry. This is all my fault."
So-Bin looked at him. "But really. Why did you quit?" she finally got to ask him. "Did something happen?"
Jun's chest tightened. Something did happen. That bitter memory of what happened at the restaurant floated to the fore but so did Soo Hyun's words the last time they met.
"You should come back to the group." So-Bin told him
Jun thought about it for a moment. "But Soo Hyun---"
She smiled at him reassuringly. "Trust me."
So-Bin stood and headed back towards the building. Yeo Jun followed.
When they arrived, Soo Hyun was poring over a stack of papers.
"I don't know if you'd accept my back." Yeo Jun began
Soo Hyun glanced at him. "Have a seat."
"Soo Hyun told me to bring you here." So-Bin informed Jun before pushing him to sit.
"I guess I'm useful in a way." Yeo Jun commented as he took his seat
"You should get the right credit for your work." Soo Hyun replied, still looking at the documents. "So don't let it get personal. You carried your weight."
"I didn't think it was personal." Jun sulked.
"So what now?" So-Bin interjected. "Should we have a team dinner?" Silence. She sighed looking at the state of things "Not even us three can get on the same page." She stood to her feet. "I'll get some coffee."
"Let me--" Jun offered
"No." So-Bin shot him down "I need to get some fresh air, so let me do it."
"You did a good job." Soo Hyun commended Jun when So-Bin was gone. "I doubt it would have been easy."
He was right. It hadn't been easy. He'd had to do something he swore he never would, all for the sake of not letting Soo Hyun down.
He didn't say this, instead, as casually as he could, he replied "It is for me. I'm not you, remember?"
"Nothing in this world is easy." Soo Hyun stated.
"All I ever did was bother you, so I'm glad I could be of help.I guess I did well."
"You didn't have to do a good job or be of help." Yeo Jun looked at him. "Atleast you kept your promise."
Jun was momentarily stunned by what Soo Hyun said . "I won't be fooled anymore." Soo Hyun sighed deeply and looked at him. A fleeting gaze passed between them. "Anyway, don't mind me. I won't get in your way again."
Soo Hyun kept looking at him. He was obviously one to hold a grudge.
They managed to complete that day's portion of the project and in no time, they were parting ways.
As was common these days, Jun's thoughts were clouded with thoughts of Soo Hyun.He was so confused.
Walking in a daze, he only called to when he collided with someone. "I'm sorry." he apologized immediately.
"Are you alright Jun?" Professor Park asked. Seeing the hesitation on his student's face he smiled at him. "Are you free? Let's take a walk."
Jun nodded and they walked around in silence for a bit until they sat on one of the many campus benches.
"Is something bothering you? You can talk to me. Or ask me anything." the teacher encouraged.
"I'm curious about the one who makes me feel miserable and also makes me feel happy.I don't know what it means."
"Love." Professor Park replied.
"Love?" Jun looked at him.
"They're both forms of love." he explained "But don't begin. You shouldn't fall in love."
June made a face. "Didn't you say we should experience everything when we're young?"
"Not that you should.I mean it will happen naturally. Your will isn't a decisive factor when you are young.More so when you are younger. One's heart is quicker than reason and rationality. What can be more out of control than the heart in one's body." Professor Park pointed towards the horizon "It will be out in front before you even realize it.After making a mess, it expects your rationality to clean it all up." Jun listened with a distant look in his eyes "Did I talk to much?"
"No." Jun shook his head. "Then I just have to let my rationality win against my heart and body that's out of control."
Professor Park sighed. "If it were that easy, my life would have been a different story."
Yeo Jun mulled over Professor Park's word.
Love. He spun the word over and over in his head as he thought about that person.
Was this....love?
"Soo Hyun is not one to run late." So-Bin stated, looking at the empty chair at their next group me.
"Maybe he's sick of someone here." Jun replied casually.
"Me?" So-Bin questioned. "Did I get on his nerves? But I've been working hard."
"You're here. The one who's never late." Jun jabbed as Soo Hyun trotted in 1 minute later.
"I'm sorry I'm late." Soo Hyun apologized as he took his seat.
"Nothing is up is it?" So-Bin asked.
"Something's always up." Soo Hyun replied "Who should do the presentation?"
"Could you do it?"
"How about you do it as the team leader?" he countered.
"Maybe I should do it." Jun offered
"Go ahead if you can." Soo Hyun replied
"It's not like I can't." Jun sounded annoyed "Tell him that being a freshman could lead to issues though."
Soo Hyun looked at So-Bin. "A freshman took a class that was meant for third years, so tell him that he shouldn't purposefully try to be a nuisance."
"Please ask him to tell me in Five Ws and one H, what I should do to not make myself a nuisance."
So-Bin looked uncomfortable "Guys. Please don't be this way. I'd do it if I could but--"
"Then I'll do it." Soo Hyun interjected.
"He won't be satisfied unless he does it." Jun frowned. "So ask him why he suggested otherwise."
"Please tell him to stop this childish banter." Soo Hyun said to So-Bin.
That was it!
She banged the desk and stood to her feet. "I can't stand situations like this. It feels like I'm suffocating." Without another word she left.
Jun and Soo Hyun looked at each other briefly before Soo Hyun aso left.
Soo Hyun frowned as he walked in the quad. Why was he so childish? He really knew how to get under his skin.
Never in his life had he met a person like Yeo Jun. So persistent, so annoying, so nosy...there were endless adjectives he could use to describe him and yet...yet there was something else, bubbling just beneath the surface. Something else he had never felt before and dared not try to describe.
Soo Hyun's phone rang.
"Hello?"
[Is this Nam Soo Hyun?"
"It is." he confirmed.
[I'm calling on behalf of the board to apologize for your wrongful termination. We have seen the clip and we are deeply embarrassed that this happened. With immediate effect, you have been reinstated. We will also compensate you for the damages."
Soo Hyun merely listened, clouded with confusion.
He was still very confused until he received a text with a clip. It was taken that night, in the cafeteria. He was stunned as he watched. There were already many comments, people expressing their dissent and ire. Soo Hyun was concerned about only one thing--- He needed to find Yeo Jun.
It didn't take him long to put two and two together. It must have been him. He was there that night. Why hadn't he said anything?
He dialled Yeo Jun's number.
No answer.
"He won't stop calling." Jun looked at the caller ID. He lost count of how many time's Soo Hyun had called him since that clip had been posted. He knew once it was posted, he would know it was him who did it.
He wasn't sure why he'd done it either. He shrugged. This was probably one of those moments Professor Park spoke about, when his reason and rationality left.
Nam Soo Hyun :  Let's talk after the presentation tomorrow.
Jun read the message and sighed. He wasn't sure what kind of reaction he would face from that person.
Would he be grateful for his help?
No. He would probably chastise him again for sticking his nose where it didn't belong.
Still, he could't get the image from that night out of his head. Soo Hyun looked so broken and pitiful as he sat in that corner, lonely with just his tears. It had moved something inside of him on a deep level.
He bit the side of his lip. He would deal with tomorrow when it came.
Soo Hyun sighed as he looked at himself in the mirror. Yeo Jun hadn't responded to his last message.
Since he'd seen that clip, he'd been deeply troubled. There was no doubt in his mind about the source of the clip.
Yeo Jun no doubt done this to help him.
How did he feel about this?
By his normal methods of operation, he should have been angry. He never had or needed anyone's help to solve his problems. A person like him hated to be in anyone's debt but as he thought of Yeo Jun, he couldn't help feeling a sliver of gratitude growing.
He wouldn't let him escape. Tomorrow he would say his piece.

At A Distance, Spring Is Green -BL Version (Yeo Jun x Nam Soo Hyun)-Chapter 8 :You and I can't be friends
Nam Soo Hyun was up by 6 the next day. Contrary to Yeo Jun's advice, he'd not had a restful night. In fact, he had restlessly drifted in and out of sleep. Whenever he was awake, he was that much more conscious of where he was and whose money had paid for it. He  wasn't ok with it. He didn't want to owe anyone anything, most of all Yeo Jun.
Koo Hyun had already taken that watch from him and paid for his Gosiwon, now he'd footed the bill for his hospital stay. The frustration for that golden haired guy was mounting.
Yeo Jun's words carouseled in his head. Why couldn't he just leave him alone? He was sure he had enough people to entertain him if he was bored. What exactly was his interest in him? What did he have to prove?
And so passed the night.
"Sir I would recommend that you stay another night. Your room has already been covered." The attendant advised as Soo Hyun got dressed.
This advice only deepened his frown. He wouldn't stay another minute if he didn't have to. The longer he stayed, the more indebted he would be--- he couldn't afford it.
After getting dressed Soo Hyun retrieved his things and left, immediately he began to look for job postings online.
It was 8 am. when Yeo Jun arrived at the hospital. He usually hated waking up early for anything if he didn't have to but he wanted to get there as soon as possible.
He'd spent a good few hours after he'd left the hospital doing research about what kinds of food were good to help people recover from malnutrition.
Now, as he walked to Soo Hyun's room, he was laden with two bags, one in each hand, he couldn't help but smile. He couldn't wait to see the look on his face. Just thinking about it made him excited.
When Yeo Jun slid the door open, his face fell immediately---Empty. Soo Hyun was gone. Why was he gone? He was sure he'd more than paid for his stay. He was also sure that he wasn't strong enough to be outside.
Jun frowned as he imagined the stubborn person who'd tried to take the IV out of his hand just a few hours before. Retrieving his phone, he dialled Soo Hyun's number. No answer.
No.
No.
No.
All day...every site he had visited, that was their answer in various forms and so, late in the evening, he was tired and jobless.
As he sat outside, he dialled his mother.
"Hey Mom. It's the weekend are you well? I sent some money to uncle."
[I'm doing alright. How are you?]
"I'm fine." Soo Hyun replied. In the next breath, he said " Don't worry about Koo Hyun's rent at the Gosiwon. I'll take care of it."
[Thank you son]
Soo Hyun nodded.
"Mom. What if I dropped out of school?"
[Are you having trouble?] His mother sounded concerned.
"No.It's not like that."
[You shouldn't take too much on to yourself.] His mother advised.
"I know mother. I won't."
[Good boy.]
"I'll call again soon." Soo Hyun hung up with his mother.
The next Day
25 Times
That's exactly how many times Yeo Jun had called Soo Hyun in total, all unanswered.
Though he knew how Soo Hyun could be, there was also a part of him that was slightly worried about him. He'd discharged himself from the hospital prematurely. What if he was passed out somewhere? He didn't have his brother's number. He didn't know where he lived either so all he could do was wait.
He hated waiting.
Since his calls weren't working, he decided to text Soo Hyun as he walked to class.
[You're not passed out on the street are you? Get some rest at home]
Jun had just pressed send when that familiar figure walked by him in the hall, heading into the classroom just ahead of him.
He shook his head. "Nam Soo Hyun. Seriously. What if you pass out again?" he said to himself. So stubborn.
For the duration of class, Soo Hyun ignored Yeo Jun and all he could do, was stare at the back of his head like he usually did.
The moment class ended, he hastily grabbed his things and darted through the door. He wouldn't allow him to get away this time.
"You really don't listen do you?" he asked Soo Hyun as he fell in step beside him.
"I can't believe you paid for a week's worth in advance." Soo Hyun replied as he kept walking. "As if I can spend a week lying down."
"What's wrong with using me to take it easy for a week?" Jun asked. "Others are fine spending my gold card."
Soo Hyun had nothing to say to that.
"Anyway. Take this." Yeo Jun offered him some documents. "These are the documents I promised you."
Soo Hyun finally stopped walking  as he looked at the item that was being handed to him.
He accepted it, simultaneously reaching inside his jacket for an envelope which he handed to Yeo Jun. "Here."
"What's this?" Jun asked, looking inside. "Did we agree on payment?" he looked at Soo Hyun after realizing there was money inside the envelope.
"It's what I owe you."
Yeo Jun looked at him in surprise "Did you work all night in the state you're in?" Soo Hyun didn't respond. "You got the money this fast? Did you take out a loan?"
Soo Hyun shook his head and walked on "Loans are not issued to people like me."
"Did you go to a loan shark then?" Jun caught up to him again "Will you be buried alive if you don't pay it back?"
"That's enough." Soo Hyun was annoyed.
"Then...It was so I wouldn't have a reason to be clingy." Jun theorized. He looked at Soo Hyun "Did you sell your organs?" He grabbed Soo Hyun's jacket to inspect him "Let me see if you still have them all." Soo Hyun ignored him "Why won't you look at me? Don't tell me you sold an eye."
"Six days' worth of hospital stay was cancelled on your credit card. You can check." Soo Hyun stated. "I now owe you nothing."
"But you do--"
"What?" Soo Hyun retrieved the notebook he'd used to calculate the figures to do a review. He was sure he wasn't wrong. "I gave the watch a second hand price. " He said as he went over his figures. "But tell me the price if it had sentimental value.I didn't know of that."
Yeo Jun looked at him. "You owe me emotionally." Soo Hyun wasn't expecting a response like this "How will you pay me back for trampling on my heartfelt generosity?"
"That was the price for being clingy." Soo Hyun replied before walking away.
"You still won't get rid of me though!" Yeo Jun shouted after him as he left. "Don't get cocky! You'll soon miss me! You'll want to see me!"
Soo Hyun didn't spare him a backward glance. Why did he have to be like that?
The remainder of Jun's day passed uneventfully, nothing out of the ordinary for Yeo Jun.He was used to being stared at and followed around, same old, same old.
He was on his way home when he got a call from Gung-Ho asking him to meet him at a bar.He was not going to go since they'd had a disagreement regarding the group project just a few hours before. In end he decided to go, for one reason -- Nam Soo Hyun.
The drunk trio was sitting at the bar when Yeo Jun arrived.
"I'm sorry. I'll pay for their bill and take them home." Jun addressed the dark haired woman behind the counter.
"Why would you pay for their drinks?" she asked casually
"Sorry?"
"I'll wake them up and deal with it. You can go home." she replied. "Aren't you Yeo Jun in first year?"
"Yes." he confirmed. "Do you go to my school?"
She nodded. "I'm Wang Yon-Ran, a senior in PE Major." She paused before she spoke again. "Are you and Soo Hyun close?"
"No.We're not close." Jun replied. "I want to befriend him but its hard."
"Ahh. I just wanted to ask you if you've heard from him.Soo Hyun and I are friends but I can't reach him."
Jun was surprised. "You're Soo Hyun's friend?" This revelation made him a little too excited "What did you do to become his friend?"
"He wants to cut me off whenever I try to do anything." Yon-Ran  replied.
Jun let out a heavy breath and pouted. "He's a difficult one. But if I don't do anything, he'll never even glance at me."
"Right?" Yon-Ran understood his plight. "If I were asked to write one line on my resume, it would be 'Nam Soo Hyun's only friend'. Nothing else." she smiled
"Then I'll be Nam Soo Hyun's friend who he adores like his little brother. That's what I'll be" Jun replied. That was a good place to start atleast.
Yon-Ran looked at Yeo Jun. "Good luck."
Yeo Jun smiled at her. He would need luck and then some.
After spending a few minutes with Yon-Ran, Jun pulled the three to their feet, looped their arms over each other's shoulders and guided them out the door like sheep.
"Hey. Let's go for another drink." Gung-Ho suggested as  they wobbled on to the sidewalk.
Chun-Guk's backpack slipped from his shoulder but he was too wasted to care so he kept walking.
Yeo Jun stooped to pick up the bag when he noticed something familiar.
Reaching in, he retrieved the book.
"This belongs to Soo Hyun" he quickly recognized the book he'd seen in Soo Hyun's possession earlier. Not spending time to wonder how or why these three had it, he quickly stashed it in his own book bag.
He was just about to hand Chun-Guk's bag back to him when his phone rang.
Nam Soo-Hyun.
"Did you dial my number by mistake?" Jun answered
[Do you want to have dinner?] Soo Hyun asked
"Sorry? What?" Jun wasn't sure he'd heard right.
[Do you want to have dinner?] Soo Hyun repeated. He could hardly believe his ears. [I'll send you the location.] Soo Hyun told him before hanging up.
Jun immediately darted off, running as fast as his legs could take him, his heart feeling feather-light.
He had finally gotten through to him. The barrier between them was finally broken.
As he journeyed, he thought about their relationship to date. All the words that had been said between them.Soo Hyun had tried to keep him at arm's length. He had tried to keep him on the other side but Yeo Jun was curious. Nam Soo Hyun had sparked a kind of curiosity that he couldn't escape and he wanted to cross the line.
When Yeo Jun arrived at the restaurant he was ushered to a table. He looked around but Soo Hyun was nowhere in sight.
He was about to call him when someone approached his table and put a plate down.
Raising his eyes he saw those emotionless eyes sitting under that straight bang.
"What is this?"Yeo Jun was confused.
"I already paid for it" Soo Hyun, in his waiter uniform replied. "Eat up."
"So you were asking if I wanted to have dinner alone and not with you?"
Before Soo Hyun could respond, another table called his attention. He immediately left Yeo Jun's side.
Yeo Jun watched him go, feeling a little complicated.
He looked at the plate Soo Hyun brought but his appetite was gone. This was not what he'd expected when he'd gotten that call.
Rather than eating, he watched as Nam Soo Hyun worked, bustling from table to table, putting up with complaining customers. The more he watched, the more he hated the dish sitting in front of him that had long gone cold.
He got up and was about to leave when Soo Hyun passed his table.
"Wait for me." he told him.
Yeo Jun nodded and walked outside into the cool night air.
As he sat on the bench outside, he thought of Nam Soo Hyun. He really was a strange person.
"Did I keep you waiting long?" Soo Hyun asked when he finally appeared. Yeo Jun shifted on the bench. "Don't come closer. I smell like food."
"Why did you call me here?" Jun finally got to ask the question that had been plaguing him all night. "I think I know why, but I want to make sure."
"How was the food? Did you like it?"
"Don't act all sweet." Jun replied. "Why did you call me here?"
"So I could buy you dinner ok."
"Did you want me to understand why you're such a jerk to me?"
Soo Hyun turned to him.
"Whenever I open my wallet, it reminds me of yours. When I see your place, I think of mine.I feel like I could walk out of my job and go for drinks or just chill at a cafe somewhere.I think to myself, 'it seems so easy so why can't I do  that?' You see,I'm fine with not being able to do stuff like that. But I think of my brother whenever I see you and it hurts me."
"You could have kept it short." Yeo Jun finally spoke after hearing Soo Hyun's words. "You're basically saying you can't stand to seeing me around." He stood up. "Don't be curious about me or try to befriend me." He repeated the words Soo Hyun had said "Did you call me here so I'd just get lost?"
Soo Hyun stood and faced him "Yes. So you would see my situation and come to your senses."
Jun couldn't believe his ears. "I had no idea. I was so excited on my way here like an idiot." His feelings were hurt. "Why not pick a better place if you wanted me to experience what it's like to be poor? This place is too boring." He sighed. "Did you have to work this hard to pay me back?"
"I gave up my place." Soo Hyun informed him.
"Oh. You did? Just to pay me back? So I'd leave you alone and get lost?"
Soo Hyun retrieved something and extended it to Yeo Jun. "Here. This is what I make in a day. It's less than what your dinner costs."
Jun looked at the item and his angry tears pricked his eyes.
"So what?" he shoved Soo Hyun's hand away from him.
"When I pestered my dad in tears to buy me a game console and asked him why my family was so poor, he didn't say anything. Then he quietly showed me how much our total debt was , his salary, our living expenses and the cost of raising me.He thought that was a faster way to make me understand." He looked Jun in the eyes. "You and I can't be friends. There's no need for us to be friends."
"I heard you loud and clear." Jun replied. "You always mean what you say.I prefer this than being left with hope. Thanks for the expensive dinner." Without another word and before the first tear actually fell, he left.
As he watched Yeo Jun leave, Soo Hyun gripped the envelope in frustration. This is what he had decided to do. No matter how he actually felt, this was what was best. He and Yeo Jun were from two different worlds and there was no bridge for that gap.
He would just forget about this person who was curious about him. This person, who for the first time, had made him curious about someone else.

At A Distance, Spring Is Green -BL Version (Yeo Jun x Nam Soo Hyun)-Chapter 7 : Can you warm up to me?
"Soo Hyun. You saw what I sent right?" Hye-Ji asked as the group members sat at the table to discuss the next stage in their project. "Let's discuss that first."
"You did a vast research." Soo Hyun commented without looking up from the sheets he was poring over.
Hye-Ji beamed. "I get things done properly once I put my mind to it." She was looking at Yeo Jun when she said this.
Soo Hyun finally looked at her. "However, I can't say it was done properly."
"What?" Hye-ji was shocked. "What do you mean? I researched three marketing strategies .I got carried away with the brand concept but there's alot to work with.
"Mijin Foods is a big company. You ignored the distribution network it has and only focused on marketing which is why it isn't realistic. There were many typos too which are a result of you not knowing proper grammar." Though he went back to looking at his material, he didn't stop speaking "Alot of the materials overlapped too.Are you sure you didn't just copy and paste? If Professor Park saw this, he'll scold us for playing tricks."
Hye-Ji as incredulous. "Playing tricks and bad grammar?"
"Must you be so strict about things?" Gung-Ho couldn't bear not cutting in, still very vexed from his last run in with Soo Hyun. "We're on a tight schedule so go easy on it."
Soo Hyun looked at him. "Handing in your work would speed things up."
"Yes of course I should hand it to you."  Gung-Ho agreed "But first there is something I must collect. The other day I only stepped back because Jun had a fit. You never apologized for what you did though?"
"An apology?" Jun couldn't believe it.
"Have you done your research?" Soo Hyun asked.
Gung-Ho exploded. "How's that the issue right now?" He stood to his feet, "Apologize you jerk!"
"So," Soo Hyun looked up at him "You haven't done the work."
Gung-Ho was about to lunge at him from across the table when Hye-Ji stood to her feet. After expressing her discontent with Soo Hyun's treatment of her work, she declared she was leaving the team.
Gung-Ho and Chun-Guk followed suit.
"I knew this would happen." Gung-Ho collected his things. "Try getting all the work done alone."
Chun-Guk looked at Yeo Jun. "Come on Jun."
Jun looked at Soo Hyun before slowly standing to his feet.Soo Hyun went back to working on the material he already had.
"Why didn't you go with them?" Soo Hyun asked Jun as they sat on one of the benches in the courtyard.
"I don't know." Jun confessed.
Soo Hyun glanced at him. "I'll do the research with So-Bin so you don't have to contribute. You are a freshman anyway, so I don't have any expectations."
"Why do you assume that I can't contribute?" Jun was serious "I can do a good job too you know."
"Are you planning on toying around with me?" Soo Hyun asked.
"I'm not toying around with you."
"Some people should not be messed with. You'll pay for it in spades."
"You're one to talk." Yeo Jun frowned."If that were the case, karma would eat you alive." Soo Hyun readied himself to leave. "You said materials on Mijin Group are hard to come by .It'll make or break our presentation." He looked earnestly at Soo Hyun "Put me in charge of it."
"You?"
"Trust me this once and see for yourself whether or not I'm toying with you."
"I don't like getting disappointed after trusting someone, so don't overexert yourself." Soo Hyun stood and handed Jun some money. "Here. For the coffee.Bye"
Jun took the money. He heaved a heavy sigh as he turned it over and over in his hands  Is it that hard for you to trust me?
That afternoon Jun got to work. He made his way back to his condo early. He needed to prove to Soo Hyun he wasn't toying with him. He would get the material he needed, even if he had to do something that filled him with both fear and dread.
He diligently wrote a script of what he would say before calling---Mijin Group. The company their group needed the information on. It was also the Group his father was the CEO of.
Mustering his courage, he called to put in his request.
Soo Hyun rubbed his eyes. It had been a particularly long day -- between his academic pursuits and his jobs, he was almost running on E. Today had been more hellish than usual seeing that  he not only had to deal with Gung-Ho and his gang at the group meeting, they'd also walked into the convenience store on his shift.
He was set to ignore them, like he usually did but that fellow was simply too childish as usual.
Soo Hyun had really wanted to punch him when he broke that one bottle of juice, claiming it to be an accident but he needed that job so he could only bear it
In the end, the situation as resolved by the night manager who chased them out since they were not willing to buy anything.
Aghhh..Why did he have to suffer through situations like this? Why was his life this way?
He was ruminating on these things when his younger brother arrived home, a whistle on his lips and a spring in his steps.
"Did you pass the exam or something?" Soo Hyun was curious.
"You need to learn to enjoy the small things in life." Koo Hyun replied. "You're always so serious."
"Just pass the exam please."
Kooy Hyun clicked his tongue and walked away. With his movement, something fell to the ground.
He darted to retrieve it, raising Soo Hyun's suspicions.
"What is it?"
"Nothing." Koo Hyun attempted to put the envelope in his pocket.
Soo Hyun grabbed his wrist and pried it from his hand before looking inside. "It's cash." he commented when he saw the contents. "Where did you get this?"
"Come on.It's just 100,000 Won." Koo Hyun replied
"It's just 100,000 Won?" Soo Hyun echoed.
"You always work so hard. So I did some gig work for the day." Koo Hyun explained.
Soo Hyun narrowed his eyes. "You'd better tell me the truth."
"Hey. Just let it go. It's really nothing."
"Nam Koo Hyun." There was warning in Soo Hyun's voice.
Koo Hyun shifted nervously "Well. I just sold something I got for free." Soo Hyun exhaled sharply "From your rich friend." Koo Hyun added.
"Yeo Jun?"
"Yes.I told him I liked his watch and he said I could have it." Koo Hyun recounted what had transpired during lunch.
"And you accepted it?" Soo Hyun couldn't hide his frustration.
"Of course I did! It's expensive."
"Are you a beggar?" Soo Hyun exploded.
"That's a mean thing to say." Koo Hyun defended himself. "What's wrong with accepting something he doesn't need?"
Soo Hyun frowned and looked at the money. "Is this it?"
"It's what's left after paying the fee for the Gosiwon." Koo Hyun told him.
Angry,Soo Hyun grabbed his brother by the lapel. Koo Hyun looked at him, a slivers of fear and confusion on his face.
Slowly, Soo Hyun released his brother. He wasn't the problem. He would need to deal with this from the root.
Without another word, he left their apartment.
"Soo Hyun?" Yeo Jun immediately sat up in bed when he saw the caller ID.
[I'm outside your place. Come down.]
"Now?"
[Yes. I'll wait here until you come out."
"Ok. Give me a minute."
Jun quickly left his room and made his way to the streets where he found Soo Hyun.
"Soo-Hyun."
"Koo Hyun told me what happened." Soo Hyun didn't spare any greetings.
"Oh. That."
"Why did you do that?"
"I gave it to him because he wanted it." Jun replied. "I can just buy another one."
Soo Hyun's fist curled by his side and he sighed heavily. "I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"I can't pay you back right away. But I will."
Jun also sighed. "Will that make you feel more at ease?"
"You said I'd call you. Were you referring to this?"
"Did I say that?" Jun asked.
"So it all went according to your plan. You made me call you first and practically beg you."
"That wasn't my plan." Jun said "You may have never  found out."
Soo Hyun looked at him. "What do you want from me? What could it be?"
"Forget about the money. I don't need money. As you know, I can get it easily." He paused, looking into Soo Hyun's eyes. "Can you warm up to me?"
"Nobody warms up to you because they genuinely like you without you having to trick them like this or spend money on them?"
Jun cast sad eyes to the ground. "Yes. That's right." he confirmed. "Nobody." he lifted his eyes back to Soo Hyun's face who was looking at him in silence. "Don't you pity me? Don't look at me like that. You need money and I need love. It's the same thing. You do everything in your power to earn money. I'm just doing what I want to get what I want."
"Alright." Soo Hyun finally spoke. "You won. I'll do as you say."
Jun gave him a little smile. "Answer my calls." Immediately bidding Soo Hyun goodbye afterwards, he headed back inside.
Soo Hyun sighed as he stood in the street, those words not long said still fresh in his mind.
A strong hand reached high in the air before crashing down on Yeo Jun's face with a thwack!
He had nowhere to run. Fear gripped his heart as he desperately cried.
"No....please....don't..."
His pleas fell on deaf ears as that figure grabbed him by the collar and threw him across the floor.
Worthless.. Good for nothing..You should never have been born. These harsh words assaulted Jun's ears.
He choked on his sobs..."No..Please..." That hand was raised again.
Yeo Jun woke from his slumber with a start. Gasping for breath, he looked around the room. It was a dream. Sweat matted his brow as he tried to steady his breaths.
He was afraid.
Reaching for his phone, he dialled.
"Soo Hyun."
[Hello?] A female voice was on the line.
"Isn't this Nam Soo Hyun's phone?"
"I'm calling from the ER at Hosu hospital." the response came.
Jun's pupils shrank "What? Is Soo Hyun in the hospital?"
[He was brought in earlier.] the woman confirmed.
Jun didn't need to hear another word. He flashed out of bed, grabbed his belongings and ran out the door, fear and worry gripping his insides.
"Dad." a listless Soo Hyun called out in his sleep.
Yeo Jun watched helplessly from his bedside as a single tear rolled from Soo Hyun's right eye while gripping the sheets.
He thought his anxiety would have disappeared the minute he saw Soo Hyun but that was not the case. Though his condition wasn't the worst case scenario he'd imagined as he rode to the hospital, it was still difficult to see that boy who'd constantly treated him with indifference in such a state. It was very foreign.
The doctors said he was fatigued and suffering from malnutrition. It wasn't an accident that caused him to be here but Jun was just as sad.No, perhaps he was even more sad because he knew Soo Hyun wasn't taking care of himself.
With treatment, it was a full 3 hours before Soo Hyun regained consciousness. Slowly, he opened his eyes, trying to assess where he was.
"Soo Hyun." Jun immediately called out to him when he realized he was awake.
"What happened?" Soo Hyun asked, sitting up in bed.
"Are you okay?" Jun countered, relief washing over him
"Why are you here?"
"Do you remember collapsing at the construction site?" Soo Hyun thought for a minute. He did remember. "They said you're fatigued and have malnutrition." Jun informed him.
Soo Hyun realized for the first time there was an IV in his hand. As he reached out to remove it, Jun grabbed his wrist. "Didn't you hear me? You have malnutrition."
Soo Hyun flashed his hand away "I don't care." He resumed his efforts to remove the apparatus.
"I'm going to call your brother and your mother." Yeo Jun threatened, reaching for Soo Hyun's phone that was at his bedside. "I heard that you told them not to call your family when you were taken to the ER."
Soo Hyun sighed. "What are you doing here?"
"I called you and a nurse at the hospital picked up."
"Why did you call me?" Soo Hyun asked. "What am I? Your girlfriend?"
"I had a nightmare." Jun said in a low voice. "I didn't want to be alone." He looked at Soo Hyun "But this turned out to be a bigger nightmare."
Soo Hyun looked at him, unsure of what to saw at first. "Thank you for coming to the hospital and for not calling my family.I keep owing you. I don't know when I'll be able to repay you."
"Do you have to repay me?"
"Aren't you that kind of guy?" Soo Hyun questioned. "When you spend money you expect something in return."
Jun briefly cast his eyes to the ground and nodded. "I was." He looked at Soo Hyun squarely "But I'm going to change."
"Go ahead and change all you want." Soo Hyun replied. "Go. It's getting late."
"Why are you always so angry with me?"
"I know." Soo Hyun admitted "Everytime I see you I just get angry.I guess it's because my life sucks.I don't even have time to think about things like that but when I see you I feel envious and angry.Happy?"
Jun listened in stunned silence.
"I feel the same way." he replied when he found his voice.
Soo Hyun was frustrated again. He'd exposed his thoughts and feelings to this person. "Just Go and stay out of my sight"
Yeo Jun smiled. "No." he replied. "I'm going to do what I'm good at. So you do the same."
"What are you good at?"
"Being clingy."
"What?"
"So you try to push me away." Jun didn't take his eyes off Soo Hyun "Let's each do what we're good at."
Soo Hyun swallowed as he held Yeo Jun's gaze. His heart thumped hard in his chest and he wasn't sure if it was from his anger or something else.
"Do I fascinate you?" he lashed out "Am I an animal at the zoo? Get out." Yeo Jun didn't move. "Could you please get lost?"
Jun sighed "I just don't get you."
"You'd never be able to."
"Then enlighten me. I want to understand you."
"Why should I even bother?" Soo Hyun raised his voice. "Why should I when I am neck-deep in my own worries?"
Yeo Jun looked at him. Tonight was the first time he'd seen Soo Hyun express himself like this. He usually communicated in that indifferent way that often made people feel like he was looking down on them. Now, in this hospital room, there were emotions on that face and in that voice.
"It's past midnight and the bed isn't refundable." Jun pointed out "Insisting that you take off at this hour won't change a thing.Get atleast a good night's sleep." Soo Hyun sighed, obviously frustrated. "I see money is what you understand. My words carry no weight but money does." He clicked his tongue. "I'll get lost then." He turned to leave.
Just then a nurse walked in, announcing it as time for Soo Hyun's shot.
Jun looked at him over his shoulder.
"Can you make sure the pain is unbearable?" he asked the nurse in jest before heading out.
The minute he left, he had another thought.
"Don't skip your meals and make sure you ventilate the room often." he stuck his head back in the door and spoke to Soo Hyun who just sat looking at him.
Satisfied, Jun left, his heart and mind filled with thoughts of that boy with the straight bangs and cold eyes.

At A Distance, Spring Is Green -BL Version (Yeo Jun x Nam Soo Hyun):Chapter 6 :Can I call you again?
The sunlight was streaming directly into his face, rousing Yeo Jun from his sleep.
He sat up in bed and looked around. He was in his bed. How had he gotten here?
With many yawns , he crawled out of bed and headed to the kitchen. His eyes were still bogged down with sleep when he retrieved a bottle of water.
He grabbed a glass from the counter.
Wait--- he stopped.
There were two used glasses sitting atop the counter. He hadn't left if that way.
He inspected the item.
"Did someone take me home last night?"
The events of the previous night came back to him in flashes.
Him standing on the rope.
Him crashing into Kim So-Bin's arms.
Him being carried on someone's back.
Him kissing someone?
He touched his lips.
"Darn it.What on earth happened?"
Drinking his water, he made his way to the bathroom to take a shower.
Nothing seemed to be out of place.
Sitting his bath items down, something sitting in the sink caught his eye.
"Short black hair." he looked at the single strand. "Whose is it?"
"Soo-Bin" he called as he walked to school
[Hey Jun.Are you alright?]
"What about you?"
[Me? Why would you ask?"]
"I doubt it happened, but did I make some kind of mistake last night?"
[Did you make any mistakes? Yes you did. Not to me but---] Kim So-Bin stopped short [ I mean..] she seemed a little flustered. [You! How could you get wasted like that? That's the mistake you made! A colossal mistake.] Yeo Jun listened, a little suspicious [I'm busy and I'm hanging up]
The line went dead.
Yeo Jun furrowed his brow.
"What was that about?"
He looked at his call log. What exactly had he done last night?
In yesterday's log, one name jumped out. Nam Soo Hyun
"I called Nam Soo Hyun." Realization dawned on him. He sighed. "I really did make a mistake."
What exactly had he done?
"Jun," Gung-Ho threw his arm around Yeo Jun's shoulder like he always did when he saw him in the hallway on the way to class "I see you didn't coffee today."
"It slipped my mind." Yeo Jun replied.
"Hand me your credit card.I'll go since you're busy." Chun-Guk offered.
"Yes. You're a busy one." Gung-Ho agreed. "Are you better? You had a seizure the other day. You have no idea how scared I was."
"Do you perhaps have epilepsy or something?" Chun-Guk asked as they led him to their usual seat in the classroom.
"If I hadn't done it, the fight would have been bigger." Yeo Jun took his seat.
"Was it all an act?" Gung-Ho questioned.
"Soo Hyun was being prickly and you guys were drunk.A fistfight wouldn't benefit anyone. It's a freshman's job to sacrifice himself."
"Unbelievable." Gung-Ho seemed impressed. "You're quite thoughtful for a freshman."
"Don't tell me you believe him." Chun-Guk was skeptical. "Is it true?"
"Don't believe me then."
Just then, Nam Soo Hyun walked in.Without meeting any eyes, he rested his head on the desk after taking his usual seat.
Yeo Jun looked at him and then retrieved his phone. He looked at his call logs again.
Nam Soo Hyun :18 seconds.
"A total of 18 seconds?" he wondered to himself. He didn't even remember.
The minute class ended Nam Soo Hyun dashed out.
Yeo Jun was just as quick to his feet. He needed to talk to him.
Soo Hyun made it to the door first. Yeo Jun was slowed down bit a few people who were also exiting.
When he finally made it out the door, he saw the back of Soo Hyun's head as he rushed down the hall.
He rushed after him.
Jun could hear Gung-Ho and Chun-Guk calling after him, saying something or the other but his focus was ahead. He needed to find out about last night.
By the time he made it out the building, he was gone.
Jun looked left. He looked right.
Soo Hyun was nowhere in sight.
With his mission failed, Yeo Jun decided to grab some lunch.
Fortunately, he didn't have to eat alone since he spotted Kim So-Bin sitting by herself.
Walking over, he set his tray down infront of hers.
She seemed surprised to see him.
"Why do you get flustered in my presence?" Jun asked "You did so last night too."
"Last night?" she shook her head "Well I wasn't flustered at all last night."
Jun leaned back in his chair. "I remember you looking like a deer in headlights though."
"I wasn't the one flustered---" she began to reply
Jun smirked. "Then who was?--" He looked at her "Who took me home?"
So-Bin shook her head, looking hesitant.
"What happened then? Did you just leave me there?"
"No. I stayed with you. I--"
"Then who was it?" Jun wasn't hiding his suspicion. "On one's back? In one's arms? Was I dragged?" Realizing she was quiet, he decided to express his thoughts on who it was. "It must have been Soo Hyun "
By her reaction, he knew he was right.
So it was him. Yeo Jun bit his lip. He wished he could remember exactly what happened.
Rejected.
Rejected.
Rejected.
Nam Soo Hyun didn't get a single positive response to any of the jobs he had applied to.
He needed to find another job if he was going to find a decent place for his brother to live while he studied for the academy.
The last place he looked at wasn't even decent. It was so cramped there was hardly any space to move.A room with a private bathroom would would cost well over 500,000.00 won per month. That was way more than he could afford.
He heaved a heavy sigh as he sat on the bench, eating just that simple rice cake. Just once, just once he wished life would grant him a break but that was wishful thinking. There were no breaks in life. Everything he had, he had to work for.
Thinking of work, he went back to scrolling job postings. He needed to atleast find someplace with room and board since he had to move out.
He was tired but life never stopped moving because he was tired. It never stopped moving for his frustrations either. He just had to keep going
They had their next group meet the following day. Everyone showed up and the discussion was atleast fruitful so Soo Hyun had no complaints.
"See you tomorrow." So-Bin called after him as he made his way out after the meeting.
He acknowledged with a nod before continuing on his way.
As he made his way down the hallway, Soo Hyun could hear that familiar voice calling out to him. He sighed. Maybe of he ignored it he would leave him alone.
"Soo Hyun!" Yeo Jun continued to call after him even as he made his way across the quad. He certainly was a persistent person. "Did you carry me home?" Yeo Jun asked when he finally managed to catch up to him.
"Who said that?" Soo Hyun asked. "Kim So-Bin?"
"No." Jun replied. "She wouldn't tell me. I found out because you left some traces behind."
"Like what?" Soo Hyun walked on.
"Your hair." Jun replied.Soo Hyun finally halted his steps. "I sent it in for a DNA test and the results say it's your hair." Soo Hyun stared at him wordlessly. "I wonder why I called you." he stuck his hands into his pockets "You're so cranky. You'd just hurt my feelings."
"Do you get your feelings hurt?"
Yeo Jun grabbed his chest in an exaggerated manner, making pained sounds. "I'm hurt."
Soo Hyun looked at him.
Jun gave him an easy smile. "Let me buy you dinner. You carried me home and I puked on your clothes. You did nothing to put up with that.It was solely my fault this time."
Was that all he remembered? Soo Hyun wondered to himself. When he spoke to Yeo Jun he said "I guess you're bored.Go find someone else." he began walking again.
"You must have come to my rescue because you were worried although you don't like me"  Yeo Jun wasn't allowing him to leave that easily.
"Stop following me." Soo Hyun said. "You said weird stuff, so I just felt responsible."
"You felt responsible?" Jun asked "Did I say I wanted to die?"
"I suppose you say that often." Soo Hyun replied. "Without really knowing what's it like to want to die."
Jun looked at him. "Do you really hate me that much?"
"Yes." There was break in the response.
"Gosh. That was quick."
Soo Hyun sighed and stopped walking. He turned to look at Jun. "I guess you're being clingy because I'm not reacting the way you want me to. But you see. You can't control everything in life."
"I can." Jun replied easily.
"Don't follow me." Soo Hyun instructed again "I don't have time to waste with you."
Without another word, he left.
Yeo Jun sighed as he watched him go.
"I was hoping he'd have changed a little."
As soo Hyun walked away, he touched his lips, remembering what Yeo Jun had not. He was glad that part of the night had been completely blacked out for him. He couldn't imagine how that person would react if he was clearly aware that in addition to clinging to him as he cried, he'd also kissed him.
His life was already difficult. It was already complicated. He didn't need anything else to compound his issues.
Leisure.
Friendships.
Relationships.
These things were luxuries that he could not afford.
It would be best if he just avoided him.
Avoiding Yeo Jun, however was something Soo Hyun was finding to be quite a task.
"Soo Hyun." Yeo Jun called out to him the following day as he was rushing to find his brother who'd come to visit him on campus.
Soo Hyun stopped.
Yeo Jun looked at him from head to toe. "We're in matching colours today." he pointed out. "Did you copy my look?"
Without hesitation, Soo Hyun slipped off his sky blue shirt and folded it over his arm.
"Take your pants off too while you're at it." Yeo Jun teased. "Stride in your underwear."
"You have a unique talent." Soo Hyun replied.
"What would that be?" Jun countered. "I have so many, you see."
"You ignore what others say and get in their faces with a smile."
"Not to everyone you know,"
Soo Hyun shook his head and walked away.
"Just like you said." Yeo Jun walked after him "I'm like this because you're hard to win over.I think you're just being pretentious like me."
"Pretentious?" Soo Hyun looked across at him.
"I laugh in people's faces and it seems like you're trying hard not to like me.Isn't that being pretentious too?"
Soo Hyun laughed.
"You laughed." Yeo Jun was surprised.
"I don't know why I'm trying to patronize you." Soo Hyun began "But listen up.In this world there are people who do not like you."
Yeo Jun nodded. "That's true.But I don't think you're one of them."
Soo Hyun heaved that heavy sigh again. "I apologize. I could see right through you which is why I bothered to converse but just forget about it.You know how I am and I treat everyone the same."
"You can apologize by treating me to a meal." Yeo Jun told him. "No one has ever been treated to one by you,and I'd like to be your first. You won't agree to a meal that I buy so treat me to one instead."
"Why would I?"
Soo Hyun turned to walk away.
Just up ahead there was a commotion. A group had gathered to watch a blonde haired boy do pushups.
"You must be kidding me." Soo Hyun was instantly frustrated by the sight.
"What do you think you're doing?" he slapped Koo Hyun in the back of the head when he stood to his feet.
He looked at the group and then to his little brother. "Let's go." he marched him away.
Yeo Jun was still standing where he'd left him.
"Hello. I'm Yeo Jun, a younger classmate of Soo Hyun." Yeo Jun bowed when both had returned.
"What? A Classmate?" Koo Hyun was surprised. "This temperamental jerk has one that actually talks to him? Unbelievable."
Soo Hyun landed a swift slap in the back of Koo Hyun's head. "I'm atleast not as immoral as you."
"Thanks for being his friend." Koo Hyun said to Jun. "I'm Nam Koo Hyun. Soo Hyun's one and only brother."
"It's good to meet you."
"This is just fascinating." Koo Hyun looked Jun up and down. "Why is someone like you friends with my brother though?" He leaned closer to Yeo Jun "Does he have some kind of leverage on you?" he whispered.
"Quit the nonsense and get going." Soo Hyun grabbed his brother by the ear.
"That hurts darn it!" Koo Hyun complained "You said we'd see our room so I skipped practice and my meal.I'm telling mom."
"Go ahead. Brag about stripping infront of the girls too." Soo Hyun retorted.
Koo Hyun held on to  Yeo Jun's hand "Would you like to eat with us? I'd appreciative the saving. His nagging is just--"
"Koo Hyun!" Soo Hyun was losing his patience.
"Sure." Yeo Jun agreed. "Let's go."
"Sweet." Koo Hyun smiled. Looping his arm in Jun's they left Soo Hyun staring after them.
"What should we have?" Koo Hyun  asked as he looked at the board with Jun.
"The pork cutlet is good."
"I'll have the pork cutlet and ramyeon with cheese." Koo Hyun decided.
Yeo Jun was about to pay when Soo Hyun grabbed his hand.
"I'll pay for it."
"I thought that was a given." Koo Hyun said
A smile was on Yeo Jun's face. "No this is a first." he told Koo Hyun.
"Choose." Soo Hyun said. Yeo Jun looked at him "Go ahead." he encouraged.
Yeo Jun bit his lip to keep his smile from spreading. "Hmm. What should I have to say that I ate well?"
Soo Hyun merelt looked at him.
After receiving their orders, they sat to eat. The brothers on one side, Jun on the other.
Koo Hyun was eating with gusto.
"Isn't this hair inappropriate for someone who wants to be a police?" Soo Hyun ran his hand through his brother's hair that was bleached, much like Yeo Jun's.
"I won't be able to bleach my hair as an officer." Koo Hyun pointed out, his cheeks full of food. "So I'm enjoying these moments now."
"You sure are a nutjob." He looked at his little brother before taking some of the food from his tray and loading it on to his. "Have some beef too."
"What about you?"
"Just eat your fill." he touched Koo Hyun's head again "And comb your hair. Look at this mess."
Yeo Jun watched the two.
"Eat some beans too." Soo Hyun passed more food over. Koo Hyun made a face "Go on and stop being a picky eater. Eat up."
Koo Hyun begrudgingly ate his beans "Unbelievable."
"I'm off to the restroom." Soo Hyun excused himself.
The rest of their meal passed pleasantly enough for the two brothers but for Yeo Jun it was tender. He'd never seen Soo Hyun behave this tenderly with anyone before. It also highlighted how dark the relationship with his own brother was. To Jun Wan, he did not even exist.
"I'll get going." Koo Hyun bid them goodbye after their meal.
"Come back here." Soo Hyun called.
"Why? What are you going to nag about this time?"
"Don't skip your meals. And open the windows often." Soo Hyun told his little brother.
"Look after yourself and get some more sleep." Koo Hyun told his big brother.
"Get going already"
Koo Hyun held on to Jun's hand "Don't abandon my brother. He's a poor guy you see."
"Aren't you leaving?" Soo Hyun griped at Koo Hyun
"I'm leaving." he waved to Jun "I'll see you around."
"Aren't you going too?" Soo Hyun asked Jun after he'd watched Koo Hyun travel far down the path.
"I should."
Soo Hyun walked away.
"You're quite affectionate toward your brother."
Soo Hyun turned and looked at him. "Affectionate? What's that?"
"How you treat your brother is exactly that."
"What about you?" Soo Hyun asked "Any siblings?"
"No. I am an only child."
"It's easy that way. You have no one to be mindful of."
"You should get going then. Thanks for the meal."
"Sure." Soo Hyun turned to leave.
"Soo Hyun." Jun called after him
"What now?" he turned to face him again.
"Can I call you again?"
"No. Don't."
"You might call me first you know."
Soo Hyun shifted his weight. "That won't ever happen."
"I was treated to a meal by Nam Soo Hyun. You just don't know me yet."
"Just go"
A call came in and Yeo Jun excused himself to take the call.
Soo Hyun watched him go.
This person really was something else.
