Anti Mals complaining that Show Mal was made so much better or more "boyfriend material" than Book Mal are completely delusional
Similarly Anti Darklings saying Show Darkling was romanticized and was made more likeable than Book Darkling are in the wrong
SAB show was not through Alina's POV and I thank God everyday for that. We got to see Mal's own story through his words and we got see darkling's action and his own (wrong but still) justification. Show gave us a broader picture of both characters and made us see them through their own eyes, not through Alina's lens

So you’re telling me that we got a Darkling/Alina kiss after them having two conversations, but don’t get a Mal and Alina kiss after they literally grew up together?!

also fun fact that vietnam war ended in 1975 that was only 44 years ago i don’t care how hard it was for us veterans to kill people. two millions poor people died in that war, thousands of children are still born with tremendous health problems due to the effect of chemical bombings (the orange agent to be specific) i’m tired of hollywood making movies about the vietnam war and focus on how brave white people are for killing n terrorizing us

DARKLINA'S STORY WAS NEVER ABOUT LOVE. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT ALINA'S POWERS AND THE WAY SHE MADE ALEKSANDER FEEL ABOUT HIMSELF. IT WAS NEVER, NEVER ABOUT HER. YOU CAN SHIP IT? OF COURSE YOU CAN, AS LONG AS YOU AKNOWLEDGE ALL THE BAD THINGS IN IT AND STOP TRYING TO CONVINCE PEOPLE THIS IS A LOVE STORY AND ALEKSANDER ISN'T ACTUALLY A VILLAIN. HE MANIPULATED, ENSLAVED AND TORTURED ALINA. HE TORTURED GENYA. HE KILLED EVERYONE AT ALINA'S CHILDHOOD HOME AND DESTROYED THE PLACE.
HE CREATED THE FOLD, AND DIDN'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO WOULD DIE BECAUSE OF THAT.
HE IS, IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE, A GENOCIDE.
HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH ALINA WAS NEVER DIFFERENT FROM ANY OTHER SIDE OF HIM. IT WAS FOR HIS OWN BENEFIT.
AND THIS FANDOM NEEDS TO STOP ROMANTICIZING IT SO MUCH.

Remember when darkling wanted to find alina so desperately that he marched all the way to Keramzin, scorched her childhood orphan house to the ground, hung the bodies of Ana Kuya/Botkin/other Grisha teachers and waited for her for days to show what he had done for her *Ultimate husband material*

When Mal says to Alina "you don't owe me an explanation" it was so refreshing to hear. We know what he has gone through to get to her, the pain and the sacrifice. We've seen him perservere regardless because he just needs to make sure shes ok and protect her anyway he can like she's always protected him. It doesn't even matter if she doesn't choose him back because he just wants to make sure she is safe. There's no entitlement there, Alina is her own person not his possession. He chooses her above all else with no expectation. In conclusion - I adore him.

Ruin and Rising: Mal & Alina's faith in each other's ability
Chapter 2:
“How did you know I’d be able to summon?” I asked under my breath.
He glanced at me, and a faint grin touched his lips. “Faith.”
Chapter 7:
“Thirty says she can hit the one behind it.”
I whirled. Mal was leaning against the archway, his arms crossed.
“That peak is over five miles away,” I protested.
“More like six,” he said breezily, a challenge in his eyes. It was as if we were back at Keramzin, and he was daring me to steal a bag of sweet almonds or luring me out onto Trivka’s pond before the ice had set. I can’t, I’d say. Of course you can, he’d reply, gliding away from me on borrowed skates, the toes stuffed with paper, never turning his back, making sure I would follow.
Chapter 17:
“Bring him back to me,” I repeated. I wasn’t making sense. I knew that. They didn’t have Morozova’s power. But Mal could make rabbits out of rocks. He could find true north standing on his head. He would find his way back to me again.
