you made some very good points about the important of making peace with your body&accepting the natural state of your body regardless of the beauty standards.

If I am being completely honest, I don’t exactly hate the idea of azul being plus sized. I just don’t like it on Azul’s canonical timeline (which is often when he headcanoned as plus size)

I, myself have grown up fat and suffered with anorexia + bullimia (and I am still recovering from it) so azul present time is very important to me as a character.

you did say that making azul plus size as an adult is a good thing, which I completely agree. being able to heal and accept yourself and having a character who shows that to others who are struggling is amazing, but what I was referring to was current timeline azul; the azul we know of canon in the game (my apologies that I didn’t make this clear)

he is obviously still struggling with his body weight image and has extreme standards above himself considering his physical appearance, ever after the events of the overblot.

azul wanted to completely erase any reminders that he was fat and a “loser” at one point, which was why he wanted us to get rid of that picture of him in museum in the first place.

but eventually he came to realize that feeling shame from his past and running away from it does no good; he had made a small, very, very tiny step at recovery.

although he still has a long way to go, he made some progress. he’s learning that there’s people who care and still care about him and don’t care about his past or what he becomes to be now.

almost everybody with body image issues has or had a hard time coming to terms with the fact that there are people who do not give a single glance at your physical appearance. I wasn’t saying that azul is happier because he’s skinny, I’m saying he is happier than he was before pre-overblot.

we also have to consider other factors like all those contracts azul made throughout his school years what were crumbled into pieces. everything he worked for (which could be a metaphor to all kinds of things in other’s people’s lives, including people with an ed who spent so much of their life trying to get skinny, only to possibly lose it all in a binge relapse (etc… this is just one example))

azul is on a road to HEALING in canon timeline, even if it’s very slow and he’s still counting calories etcetc. for people to immediately push on the plus size headcanon on this azul completely contradicts his character and the entirety of book 3 in general. I understand if you want to see plus size azul in an alternate timeline or as an adult because like you said— you can be fat and be happy.

however, I think canon timeline azul should have the opportunity to represent people who are trying so hard to recover to see themselves in him and recognize the people around you who do love and appreciate you, not the ones who don’t. azul tried to hard to get back at the bullies who made him miserable that he almost forgot about the people who sees azul as azul regardless of what he looks like. I truly think that making him plus size in canon timeline has no benefit to him as a character at all, and will completely erase the efforts of recovery.

obviously it’s not a good mindset to want to get rid of your past self completely but azul is so much more happier w himself now especially after overblotting and learning his lessons of not taking advantage of other students and taking control of his drive for revenge and “if I had it bad the rest should have it worse” ethic

I 100% encourage inclusivity in all things including body types but is azul really a good character to do it on??? as someone who does not have a healthy relationship with food and is trying to heal I definitely do not want someone trying to push me back to a time where I didn’t feel like I had control of myself and was most vulnerable
