**Disclaimer: This reading is for entertainment purposes only. I do not claim to possess the ability to predict the future, nor can I provide guarantees of any particular outcome**
This FULL MOON IN CANCER is represented by the Six of Wands. As we breeze past the first half of the first month of a New Year, the energy of this Full Moon implores us to take an emotional inventory of our self image—both of how we feel about ourselves and how we feel perceived by others.
In checking in with how YOU feel about you, ask yourself some of the following questions:
- Am I allowing myself to feel proud of my accomplishments?
- Am I nurturing myself such that I am able to continue progressing forward?
- Am I creating space for gratitude in how I speak to/think about myself?
- Am I willing to receive acknowledgment for all that I am accomplishing?
In checking in with how you feel you are being perceived by others, ask yourself some of the following questions:
- Do I create/hold space for others to recognize my hard work?
- Do I create/hold space for others to look up to me for guidance?
- Do I create/hold space for showing gratitude for the people and experiences contributing to my successes?
If you answered “No” to any of the questions above, use this Full Moon as a time to reflect on what you need to let go of in order to manifest change in your experiences.

Energy & Advice Reading for Wednesday (05/19)
Moon in Virgo
Energy (Death XIII)
Tremendous transformations are bubbling and brewing just beneath the surface as the Moon shifts into Virgo, the mutable Earth sign governing over ambition, conscientiousness, and practicality. Death, contrary to popular belief, is typically not an indication of a literal death, but rather a metaphysical one. Death in the context of the Tarot calls upon us to acknowledge endings and accept them as opportunities for beginnings. The Virgo energy we will be experiencing over the next several days will empower us to commit to leaving harmful, toxic, and unhealthy situations that are no longer of any benefit to us. The act of “letting go” will be the hardest part, but if we can push ourselves over that edge, we will be amazed at just how peaceful we will feel!
Advice (Queen of Wands)
The obstacle presented by Death requires maturity, insight, and ultimately confidence to follow your passions. The crossroads you have reached in your life require you to take a chance, to disobey your basic instinct to gravitate toward what is safe or comfortable. As with anything else, the most success is achieved when you find your balance between impulsivity and calculation, trusting your gut to tell you how much of each is needed for a given situation. As you create physical and emotional distance between yourself and your unhealthy circumstances (including people, etc.), confidence will grow inside you, and you will find the courage you need to charge headlong into the unknown.

Deconstructing the Tarot: Wands Suit Edition (Part 3)
We continue with our progression through the Minor Arcana today with the next two cards in the Wands suit: V of Wands and VI of Wands.
V of Wands (competition, brainstorming, problem solving, conflict) — When this card emerges in a reading, it is often a strong indication of conflict, discord, and/or compromise. While it does not necessarily imply its more negative connotations, it is often interpreted to represent opportunities for growth through adversity. Adversity, differences of opinions, contrary beliefs, these are inevitable components of interpersonal relationships. Try as we may to avoid and/or mitigate these uncomfortable experiences, the reality is that there is usually more to learn from them than there is from ignoring them altogether. The V of Wands appears to direct our attention to the value of compromise, of understanding when it is more beneficial to concede than it is to continue fighting. Sometimes the act of resisting is detrimental, and the best course of action is to make peace in whatever ways possible.
Associated with the Number 5 : Represents the presentation of a challenge that will create opportunities for further growth. Typically, 5s portray the initial struggle on a new path, a state of disequilibrium. Disequilibrium does not have to be something bad to be avoided, it can create space for breaking old, problematic patterns and mustering the courage to walk through the fire to become stronger.
Associated with the Planet Saturn : Named after the Roman titan-god, Saturn, father of Jupiter, Neptune, and Pluto. Saturn was a god who was thought of to represent time, self-control, limitation, and maturation. In astrology, Saturn is the planet ruling over both Capricorn and Aquarius.
Associated with the Sign Leo : Leo (Fixed, Fire, Masculine) is the fifth sign of the Zodiac. It’s more positive characteristics include joyfulness, loyalty, generosity, cheerfulness, confidence, and charisma. It’s more shadowy aspects include qualities such as being childlike, dramatic, restless, self-centered, domineering, and lazy.
VI of Wands (recognition, role model, promotion, praise, self-confidence) — When this card emerges in a reading, it is typically a sign that you deserve to take a sense of pride in your ability to provide those around you with leadership and/or inspiration. The triumphant imagery of which this card is composed speaks to this idea that your hard work, dedication, and persistence has put you in a position where you are finally receiving recognition for your accomplishments. While there is value in humility, in its more extreme forms it lends itself to self-depreciation, self-loathing, and ultimately low self-esteem. It is okay to receive accolades and admiration! You can be prideful without falling into conceit, especially when you are able to acknowledge that you have so much further to go on your journey. Be mindful that, at the times when this card presents itself, those around you are looking to you for guidance, as well as hope.
Associated with the Number 6 : Represents harmony and balance, love and happiness, service and social responsibility. Typically, 6s portray the initial success you may experience on your new path and present the opportunity to stop and rest. While an indicator of success, 6s are more so a reminder that much more is left to be done.
Associated with the Planet Jupiter : Named after the Roman king of the gods and god of the sky. Jupiter is associated with luck, knowledge, happiness, honesty, openness, health, fortune, power, and status. In astrology, Jupiter is the ruling planet over Sagittarius.
Associated with the Sign Leo : Leo (Fixed, Fire, Masculine) is the fifth of the Zodiac. It’s more positive characteristics include joyfulness, loyalty, generosity, cheerfulness, confidence, and charisma. It’s more shadowy aspects include qualities such as being childlike, dramatic, restless, self-centered, domineering, and lazy.

Deconstructing the Tarot: Wands Suit Edition (Part 2)
We continue with our progression through the Minor Arcana today with the next two cards in the Wands suit: III of Wands and IV of Wands.
III of Wands (launching, long-term plans, foresight, things set in motion) — When this card emerges in a reading, it often indicates that a concrete decision has been made. Visually speaking, it can be thought of as watching a cascade of dominos collapsing after the first one is knocked over. While the connotation here is a positive one, it is also a reminder that one has reached a point of no return; once you cross over the line, that line is now behind you. At the very core, the III of Wands provides reassurance that one knows what one must do in order to succeed in one’s endeavors, as well as encouragement for one to remain committed to action. The III of Wands marks a clear transition from one chapter of life to another, and as such it is often an ideal time to practice forgiveness, self-love, and detachment from what no longer serves you. The III of Wands is indicative of growth on the horizon.
Associated with the number 3 : Three represents a coming together, unification. It can also be thought of as the number that represents the trinity of mind, body, and spirit coming into alignment. Three signifies vital forces, creative successes, and positive energy.
Associated with the Sun : The Sun, which is star rather than a planet, is associated with the concepts of identity, character, and personal drives in the context of astrology.
Associated with Aries : Aries (Cardinal, Fire, Masculine) is the first sign in the zodiac. It’s positive attributes include qualities such as independence, courage, spontaneity, adventurousness, active, generous, creative, and youthful. It’s shadow attributes include qualities such as reckless, temperamental, impatient, self-involved, and careless.
IV of Wands (results, rewards, celebration, teamwork, gratitude, home — When this card emerges in a reading, it often indicates that it is a time for one to set aside time to celebrate one’s accomplishments. It surfaces from the Tarot when you have made significant progress toward an established goal and there is a need for you to pause and acknowledge all of the efforts made up until this point in time. Striving towards a goal often happens in stages, and it is incredibly important to create space between these stages to appreciate your hard work, to reflect on what you have accomplished, and to prepare to embark on the next stage of the journey. The castle that stands in the middle of the card is intended to represent one’s home environment. It raises the question of how your home environment contributed, if at all, to the success you have experienced along your journey. If it has, it is a reminder to express gratitude for the people and resources that have enabled you to achieve all that you have. If it has not, it is a reminder to eliminate what no longer serves you, and perhaps even encourage you to remove yourself from what may be a toxic environment.
Associated with the number 4 : Four represents stability, rationality, structure, and rules. Four is about the practical parts of life that require self-discipline and dedication. Four often indicates being rooted or static, which can be both a good and bad thing depending on specific circumstances.
Associated with Venus : Venus is the second planet from the Sun, named after the Roman goddess of love, fertility, and beauty. Venus is associated with love, pleasure, beauty, manners, and friendship.

Deconstructing the Tarot: Wands Suit Edition (Part 1)
The first suit seen in the Minor Arcana is Wands. The suit of Wands represents the element of Fire, which in turn is associated with energy, passion, ambition, and spirituality.
Each of the 4 suits seen in the Tarot are composed of the following 14 cards:
Ace
9 Numbered Cards
4 Court Cards
I will begin this series by talking a bit more in depth about the Ace of Wands and the II of Wands.
Ace of Wands (birth, energy, inspiration, sexuality, self-image) — Being the first card in the suit, it goes without saying that it is associated with the number 1. In the context of the Tarot, 1 is a number that represents a starting point, a new beginning presenting some form of opportunity. Much like a seed planted requires watering, the opportunities represented by this number 1 will require action. If the number 1 is about new beginnings/opportunities and the suit of Wands is associated with concepts like energy and passion, then the Ace of Wands is about experiencing new, creative energy! The Ace of Wands is indicative of excitement, enthusiasm, and energy for something new entering into your life, and it surfaces from the Tarot when it is time to be bold and courages in taking active steps toward your destiny! It also could be encouragement to spend more time nurturing, and expressing, your creative energies! The Ace of Wands is not affiliated with any planet or zodiac sign.
II of Wands (choice, potential, contemplation, threshold, planning) — Being the second card in the suit, it goes without saying that it is associated with the number 2. In the context of the Tarot, 2 is a number that represents dualities (e.g. Yin and Yang) and signifies reflection, desire, and conflict. The number 2 in this context points to two forces coming together to create harmony, balance, and union, or perhaps discord, imbalance, and separation.
The II of Wands is associated with the planet Mars, named after the Roman god of war. Mars is the planet of physical energy, action, assertiveness, and willpower. The II of Wands is also associated with the zodiac Aries. Aries positive characteristics include: spontaneous, adventurous, independent, optimistic, and lucky. Aries negative characteristics include: fickle, reckless, impatient, self-involved, careless, and aggressive. When this card surfaces from the Tarot, there is a choice, or perhaps choices, to be made. Filled with the power of creativity and passion, the II of Wands serves as a reminder that you are capable of doing anything you put your mind to, all you have to do is make a decision. The II of Wands appears when it is time to both decide what path you wish to take and follow through with concrete actions that will set your plans into motion.

**Demystifying Cartomancy**
The use of the Tarot for both divinatory and novelty (i.e. without occult association) purposes dates back as far as the mid-15th century in various parts of Europe. In the context of use as a divination tool, it is a deck of 78 cards that comprise what are referred to as the arcana—22 of those cards formulate the Major Arcana and the remaining 56 formulate the Minor Arcana.
The Major Arcana is indicative of major life events: transformations, personal developments, relationships, life changes, etc. From The Fool to The World, the Major Arcana tells a story of the soul’s journey to enlightenment through self-discovery.
The Minor Arcana is indicative of minor, day-to-day life events. In many ways, it provides more of the finer details of current situations rather than commentary on large life themes, etc. It is comprised of four suits (Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles), each with their own corresponding Court Cards (Page, Knight, Queen, King).
Wands — Associated with the element of Fire, which represents creativity, passion, ambition, and spirituality.
Cups — Associated with the element of Water, which represents emotions, imagination, and intuition
Swords — Associated with the element of Air, which represents thinking, speaking, and mental energies.
Pentacles — Associated with the element of Earth, which represents the physical body and the material world.
Court Cards = Can be interpreted one of two ways, either as representing people in our lives or as characteristic traits/tendencies/perspectives we possess.
At its very core, the Tarot is a tool for introspection, self-reflection, and self-discovery. Despite misconceptions and widespread misuse, the Tarot is not a mechanism for “fortune telling.” I cannot stress this enough, so I will say it a different way: The Tarot does NOT predict the future, nor can it guarantee certain outcomes, specific dates, etc. What it can do is grant insight into the influences affecting a given situation, and what can be done in order to modify and/or manifest a given outcome. In other words, the Tarot can be a tool whereby its user (or the recipient of the reading) can gain insight into their current circumstances and connect with their inner guidance on how to proceed in order to overcome present/perceived obstacles, etc.
It is also important to address the following point: ANYONE CAN READ TAROT. I repeat, anyone who has a willingness to use this introspective tool can do so independently without outside intervention. You do not have to be a “psychic” or “healer” in order to gain access to this tool, it is something anyone can do with a little time, effort, and intuition. You should not have to pay someone to read the Tarot for you, though it can at times be helpful to consult outside perspectives. There are so many books and online resources one can use to learn the basics of Tarot and begin using it successfully. If you are an Android user, I strongly recommend you download the “Galaxy Tarot” mobile application, as it is a great way for beginners to familiarize themselves with all aspects of interpreting the Tarot, including: Numerology, Astrology, Chakras, etc.
This applies to Oracle Cards/Readings as well. Oracle cards, much like Tarot cards, are tools for introspection, insight, and guidance. They are more straightforward in the sense that they often come with booklets that detail the specific meanings for each card included in the deck. I actually recommend that people introduce themselves to the world of cartomancy through Oracle, as it is (typically) less complex than learning all of the intricacies of the Tarot.
My sincere hope is that, through following my posts, you begin to see how the Tarot is not as metaphysical or mystical as it is sometimes portrayed. It is an incredibly accessible tool that will strengthen your ability to connect with your own inner guidance and to steer your life in the directions you choose for yourself.

**“Week Ahead” Spread for Week of Monday, 4/12/21**
You, Now (XV The Devil): The Devil emerges from the Major Arcana to alert you to areas in your life in which you are actively deceiving yourself. Often times, this deceit centers around unhealthy attachments and acts of overindulgence. You know exactly what The Devil referring to, because you are hyper-aware of the actions and behavioral patterns you have been engaging in that provide short-term gratification, yet produce long-term distress, disgust, etc. The Devil is here to draw your attention to these actions and patterns, for the very definition of insanity is doing the same things day after day and expecting different outcomes. Astrologically speaking, The Devil is associated with Capricorn, a Cardinal Earth sign ruled over by Saturn, planet of self-control, limitation, and maturation.
Theme (Page of Pentacles): The Page of Pentacles emerges from the Minor Arcana to alert you to an aspect of yourself that you would benefit from connecting with at this time. Pentacles are associated with the element of Earth, and as such relate to the physical body and the material realm. As such, this Page exemplifies the core characteristics of Earth energy: dependability, practicality, caution, self-discipline, and perseverance. The Page of Pentacles is willing to commit to hard work in order to gain new knowledge and skills. This mindset will be instrumental in combating the overindulgences and deceit represented by The Devil.
Challenge (Page of Cups, Reversed): This Page of Cups emerges from the Minor Arcana in this orientation to alert you to an aspect of yourself that presents a significant challenge you will face this week. Cups are associated with the element Water, and as such relate to emotions, imagination, and intuition. In the Reversed orientation, this Page represents emotional immaturity. Are there situations in your current circumstances where you are acting self-centered? Are there areas of your life where you are battling insecurities that you then project onto people around you? Are you fostering imbalances in your interpersonal relationships by taking more than you are willing to reciprocate? The challenge this week will be finding ways to connect more deeply with your inner voice, your intuition, so that you may discover ways to nurture your own needs and seek internal validation.
Remember (Eight of Cups, Reversed): The Eight of Cups emerges from the Minor Arcana in this orientation to alert you to areas in your emotional life where you are exhibiting stubborn, avoidant behaviors that leave you feeling like something is always missing from your experiences. If you are continually subjecting yourself to relationships that are painful and/or disappointing, remember that you cannot control or modify anyone but yourself. It does not matter how hard or how many different ways you try, if someone is not prepared to commit to change, they will not change. That is not a reflection of you. If you are unhappy in your current relationships (romantic or otherwise), it may be time to step away, even if temporarily, so that you can reflect on whether or not the connection is truly serving you. Remember this prayer: “God, grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can, and the wisdom to know that one is me.”
Lesson (VI The Lovers, Reversed): The Lovers emerge from the Major Arcana in this orientation to alert you to the issues you are likely experiencing in making choices and relating to others in ways that are healthy/productive. The most likely reason for this is that there is a disconnect between your thinking self and your feeling self. The lesson here is to find your own way of creating, or perhaps restoring, alignment of mind, body, and soul. When you are aligned in this way, decisions become less overwhelming and you are able to establish/maintain healthier interpersonal relationships. The Lovers in this orientation also alert you to the possibility that incompatibility may be at the root of your interpersonal relationships. You are not responsible for the emotional maturity, or immaturity as the case may be, of others. It is okay to let go of or take space from people in your life.
Gift (Knight of Wands, Reversed): The Knight of Wands emerges from the Minor Arcana in this position to alert you to areas in your life where you may be acting reckless, manipulative, impatient, and/or thoughtless. Wands are associated with the element Fire, and as such relate to creativity, passion, ambition, and spirituality. In this orientation, the Knight of Wands represents someone who is either resisting inspiration or is rushing ahead too quickly. How is this the “gift” of the reading, you may ask? Well, if you are able to cultivate mindfulness surrounding the nature of this struggle and what lies at the root, you will be able avoid these negative outcomes.

**NEW MOON IN ARIES — Energy & Advice Reading**
Aries (Cardinal, Fire, Ruled over by Mars) is the first sign in the twelve astrological persona that comprise the zodiac. As such, it represents: new beginnings, self-focus, authenticity, self-discovery, independence, and overcoming self-absorption. Governed by Mars, the planet named after the Roman god of war, Aries are often conceptualized as temperamental beings full of vibrant, physical energy. Under the shadow of this new moon, we are presented with opportunities to set our intentions for what we wish to manifest over the course of this new lunar cycle. In an effort to guide those intentions and wishes, I have channeled the following Energy & Advice Reading.
ENERGY (VI of Wands): Self-confidence. This card surfaces at this time in order to encourage you to nurture a healthy sense of pride in all that you have managed to accomplish in your life up until this very moment. You have toiled, faltered, but ultimately, persevered, and now you have arrived at a place in your life where you are starting to harvest all of the fruits of your labor. Whether you are conscious of it or not, you are not only receiving recognition from those around you, but also people are beginning to look to you for guidance and leadership. While it is important to foster a healthy self-esteem, it is equally important to cultivate mindfulness, as this is what will protect you from descending into conceit and self-absorption. You are now in a position of influence, and how you carry yourself forward from here will impact not only you, but everyone who is looking to you as an example, role model, etc. Take time to express gratitude for all of the people in your life who have supported you and ultimately contributed to the success you are enjoying now.
ADVICE (VII of Cups): Fantasy. If you are not careful, the success you are experiencing now will be but a brief hiccup in your life journey. The recognition, praise, and admiration flowing in from all sides could leave you with your head high in the clouds and your feet not too far behind. Be wary of allowing yourself to become unguarded and ungrounded, of losing focus of the goals you have established for yourself. It is true that all of your hard work has created a multitude of opportunities that did not exist before, but if you are not swift enough in taking concrete actions, indecision will prevent you from committing to any one direction. Use the potent energy of this Aries New Moon to take initiative, to be courageous, and to take risks from which you stand a chance to gain. Humble yourself, and take all of this attention with grains of salt. External validation may feel fantastic, but it is often very fleeting.

Hey there Internet!!
Welcome to my first official blog for Love, Life, Reiki!
My intention is to utilize this virtual space as a safe place to dive deep into all things metaphysical, spiritual, and psychological. I want to share the knowledge and experience I have accumulated in my studies on topics ranging from divination and spirituality to energy medicine and psychology. As “far out” as I may appear at a glance, I would argue that my approaches to these seemingly esoteric subjects is quite grounded, concrete, and logical than is often found in the “New Age/Love & Light” Community.
At least in the beginning, many of my posts will introduce you to my two main spiritual tools: Reiki and Cartomancy. My ultimate goal is to work to demystify these modalities and demonstrate their usefulness as instruments of self-discovery and self-care. Every individual has the ability to tap into and benefit from these intuitive practices, and I am here to take you on a journey to awakening these abilities within yourself.
If you are interested in learning about the Tarot, Reiki, Astrology, and other similar topics, then you, my friend, are in the right place!
