Thank you!! No because I was reading all of this drama and I was like 🤨 the entire time!!! I used to see the drama on the Reddit HOTD fandom and I was like "at least I stick to the fandom side which is chill" only to discover it’s the same lmao…..

What’s up with this fandom in general?! 😭 I swear to God I would have never guessed the Reddit side of the HOTD fandom was also problematic, I thought it was chill— but it seems the toxicity is widely spread throughout the entire fandom. Is it cursed to be in constant raging drama or something? 🥴

Also,, so glad to have been of help!! Trust me at the beginning I was so entirely confused about it and had to ask a few mutuals if they could shed some light, so now it’s my job to help everyone who’s feeling confused about it too! Everything is just so chaotic and messy, there’s no good side on this one— unbelievable 🙈

Can I ask what happened in the fanfic HOTD fandom? Because I have seen a bunch of pictures, people saying things but I am really confused. Like is it people arguing and there is two sides and depending on which side you ask what happens, you get a different narrative??? So confused for real

(Also you don’t have to drop names, you can stay vague if you think it’s better, I am just really confused so I wanted to know)

Don’t worry nonnie, I was EXTREMELY confused as well initially— I had no idea what happened and which side should I be on; until I learned that I should support neither side!

I think one of the groups involved in the drama apologised already about what happened, and the other one, which involved the biggest/most popular acc of the fandom, had that one popular account deactivate and disappear because of how badly she got exposed.

Actually I will have to show you the names because I have links that pretty much summarises the whole situation! 🥴 the drama mostly revolves around valeskafics and another user called Fae (I don’t remember her acc now), because some Discord chats got exposed where she made racist/xenophobic remarks towards a German author and made fun of their fic, made fun of her own mutuals fics (and gossiped about them too iirc), doxxed someone and shared their private personal IG account, etc.

i think it was my 3rd birthday. i remember waking up in a pink princess canopy bed, and i was looking around the empty room, just before my dad walked in. the memory of it being so bizarre yet serenely magical at the same time. i thought it was just something my young mind made up because i loved watching Barbie movies, but my parents showed me a picture of my childhood bedroom in our old house, and it was exactly like what I saw!!

i wanted to scream and yell about some blue na’vi people so ,,, this blog was born!! i jumped head first into Avatar fandom, then got busy with school and stopped, then hyperfixated on Miguel and Prowler!Miles, then thought i was going to repurpose it to be a Spiderverse blog, but i got so busy with irl stuff bc there was a really big and drastic change in my personal life. and then this blog laid dormant for the next 8-9 months,, until i found my purpose again in the men of LSDLN 🫦 JA Bayona, you saved my life.

a bit of mindless ranting related to the fandom drama not only because ✨ I can’t drop it ✨ thanks to my own outrage,, but also because I need to stress it

Days passed, and I still feel baffled over everything that’s been happening in the fandom. I know I should stop overthinking it and drop it, like I said above, just to focus on the good things— but this made me think about how incredibly toxic most fandoms (HOTD I am staring at you) became... And people, too.

Fandoms are supposed to exist for us to have fun in a safe little place, it’s our comfort zones on the internet, and I said this before. We should be sharing our theories, ideas, writing fanfic for the people that thirst over the same men and/or women as we do, meet new people whom we will eventually grow to absolutely adore— not backstab, doxx, throw shit on authors, people, and your OWN MUTUALS, make racist/xenophobic remarks at someone’s who’s native language isn’t English, and jump at everyone’s neck when they disagree with you.

I still don’t understand how people can have the nerve of being incredibly rude with a whole display of Regina George behaviour, and even gossip and make fun of the people that literally loves you. Is this what fandom and communities on the internet have become? What even is the point of spreading lies, hate, and gossiping?

If you have nothing kind to say, then don’t say anything at all. You don’t like an author or a certain fic? I don’t know, scroll past or block, maybe? It never has to be that hard when it comes to the internet. If you do send anon hate merely because you dislike someone or their fic/writing in general, I suggest you try going out to touch some fucking grass.

Sincerely, I hope the fandom can return to a slight level of normality after all of this. I believe we should all take our time to process things, heal, and focus on the good things and on people that are as genuine as you are. The point is to, like I said above, have fun— we should be able to escape reality in here,, not be overwhelmed with unnecessary highschool bullshit. Sincerely, fuck off if you are part of the toxicity in any fandom, and grow up, people.

One of the instigators of the recent drama said it all boiled down to winning fandom. And that's the root of the evil in fandom nowadays why people constantly do their best Regina George impressions. Fandom has become disposable. People just expect creators to churn out content like machines. We are like Shein. Fandom has a small window of time when people are interested in it before dying out. It will experience a resurgence when a new season airs. Fandom has become cutthroat and authors act like sharks when there is blood in the water. There is no courtesy or manners. Readers just take take take without giving. People become absolute bastards to get to the top of the fandom hierarchy. They act like vultures in their quest for attentions and kudos. They strip a fandom bare before moving onto the next one. That's why I quit.

And youare right for quitting. Damn,, I hadn’t read that thing about the fandom part— jfc, why am I not surprised?

It’s unfortunate that this happens in LOTS of fandoms, and HOTD was one of them. The attention seeking, the handbiting, the backstabbing, everyone jumping at each other’s necks... What has this fandom gone to? All went downhill thanks to a huge group of people.

Fandom is supposed to be fun. We are supposed to have a fun little space in here where we can avoid reality, thirst about our favourite men/women, meet people who shares our ideas or likings and befriend them— not turn it into some highschool drama bullshit to see who gains the most attention, or who writes faster, or who’s account is bigger.

Hopefully the fandom can gain at least a little bit of normality after going down such way. This is a matter to think about it seriously. Just like you said, it seems that fandom has simply become disposable now,, but it really shouldn’t be that way— its sadly disappointing.
