When I first fell off the wagon, I had just had emergency surgery, was on some powerful antibiotics and could not workout. Then depression set in, outside stressors increased, and I chose to follow directives from those not serious about their own health much less mine. Fast forward to now, I tried to ignore the signs, but when a reality check comes... there is nothing you can do to avoid facing it. Increased fibro flares, increased neuropathy pain, and lethargy. Borderline Diabetes... now Type 2 Diabetes. Was it all worth it? Allowing outside forces to pull me from my healthier, happier place? Nope! But it has taught me a VALUABLE lesson. Only I am responsible for how I live my life, fuel my soul, feed my mind and treasure the body I've been blessed with. My Friday, felt good to go into the gym with a clear mind and a renewed drive. I hit the weights hard and then spent the rest of the day with my youngest. Working harder to keep my mind and body on one accord. I woke up this morning, looked in the mirror and was HAPPY with what I saw: A 47 year old mother of a now 11 year old..More energy, better health and loving life....a far cry from the woman I was 3 years ago. My HUSTLE IS HARDER today because of my sons, but especially my youngest. I've been blessed to be a stay at home mom most of his life, however this morning as we prayed and snuggled before he left for school, he told me..."Mom, I'm glad you are my Mom. I love you, have a great day at work, stay safe." To him fitness & motivating others is my job. National Fibromyalgia Awareness Day! Those who know me, know how I've suffered for YEARS from this illness, but refuse to be defeated by it! Getting myself physically active helped tremendously, but it is not the cure all. I still suffer flares, but my tolerance for pain has grown and I no longer refuse to accept pain management help from medications and stress therapy. This was last night as I was finishing 3x40 @ 5lb Alternating Lateral Raises... Shoulders, Biceps, Triceps ON FIRE! Thinking to myself WHY am I putting myself through this? I had to remember...all the workout tweaks & changes that I've survived since 2013. Each time resulting in A STRONGER ME! TRUST THE PROCESS! Give your best to every workout! No matter how simplistic. I started this journey with a short but effective quarter mile walk in my neighborhood and as I grew stronger...my bedroom became my gym.
