What do you think was the most embarrassing thing that Shanks did in front of Mihawk when they were younger?

I kind of like the idea that he totally forgets to coat his sword in armament haki and it shatters when he faces Yoru for the first time. I don't think Mihawk would think it's embarrassing but Shanks would feel that way, like he's embarrassing himself in front of such a skilled swordsman. (Canonically I think he would've already learned that from Rayleigh, but I think it's such a funny idea lol)

Alternatively, I also like thinking Shanks tries very hard to not do or say anything embarrassing in front of Mihawk, but it's his crew that totally fucks that up for him. He'll go through a whole day with Mihawk thinking he's ending it looking so cool and charming, and then one of his men will make up some shit like "hey boss, did you give Hawkeyes that little valentine's day card you made for him?" and then his face turns as red as his face.

no. i genuinely believe shanks is happy to see luffy succeed

shanks is a man who wants people to pursue their dreams, a mindset luffy adopted from him. even if it impacts him negatively, if someone he loves can do what they set out to do, he's supportive (ex: asking uta if she wants to leave the red hair pirates to become a famous singer knowing full well he will suffer in her absence as her father)

luffy wants to be pirate king. becoming nika helps him achieve that. i don't think shanks would feel any kind of bitterness or envy. he's just someone who likes seeing his friends succeed. (i don't think he does, but for this point:) even if shanks wishes he was joyboy, i don't think he would be upset that luffy is instead of him. i think he'd be happy for him. besides, if not himself, then better luffy than someone like blackbeard. at least he can believe in a good boy like luffy

What do you think would happen if Mihawk joined the Red Hair pirates or became an ally for them.

tbh this is already one of my theories (hopes?) for the future, that mihawk will eventually ally himself with shanks. like totally ignoring the mishanks aspect of this, i just keep thinking about how hard that would go, the two longtime former rivals suddenly allying themselves would spell such big trouble for the straw hats since shanks is also looking for the one piece… (besides, them teaming up against the straw hats already happened in one of the games which is not reliable obviously but i like that the possibility exists)

if he joined them, i think easily their bounties are jumping up high. marine hunter + emperor can’t be good together, especially while pursuing the one piece. shanks could easily make roger numbers, mihawk could break 4 billion. similar to how the whole world knew about their rivalry, news of their alliance would spread quickly. i imagine to join (or rejoin, if you believe that mihawk used to be on the crew anyway) the red hair pirates, mihawk would leave the cross guild. maybe he ultimately thinks helping shanks find the OP assures him more of the success of its supposed effect of destroying the world government. i can imagine their alliance becoming big news, and mihawk and the red hair pirates suddenly going radio silent as they start getting into their plans. i don’t see a version of their alliance where the world government doesn’t become desperate to catch them, given individually they are already capable of so much damage and together it’ll be doubled or even tripled against them.

them teaming up this late in the story would be such a crazy move like. it’d shake the world just as their duels did. cannot stress enough how much i pray for this to happen. who knows how it’ll really pan out if it does, but that’s what i think may happen. the alliance is a big thing, and then they go quiet for a while because shanks and mihawk are not interested in openly engaging in conflict with others, only seeking their goals. you’d think no news from them is a good thing, because individually it means they’re not up to anything, but their silence while together would be a big cause for panic for the world gov (similar to benn warning shanks that the world gov will freak out if he goes to meet with whitebeard in the skypiea arc).

i don’t think shanks and luffy want to fight each other, but both going after the one piece does make them competitors for the same position anyway. they’ll be put in each other’s path, and having mihawk in the rhp is the perfect opportunity to have a mihawk vs zoro duel. taking inspiration from the game, mihawk and shanks could get a leg up on them but choose to leave the battle, inspiring the straw hats to power up now that they know they have to be able to take on both mihawk and shanks at the same time.

sorry i went on so long lmao, i happened to be thinking about this last night (specifically was thinking about a theory that mihawk’s final goal - other than finding a successor for his title - is to help shanks be pirate king, as a mirror to zoro… i’ll expand on that if someone asks lol i won’t post it in this ask)

oc spotlight 23 — kaio adler

kaio adler is a near-human criminal active during the reign of the empire. in 12 BBY, he joined nightswan’s insurgency crew a few months before zeph calder did. the two bonded over being from the same species, as well as their family clans being close (hence the similar facial clan tattoos). they trained and partied together, becoming sworn brothers eventually. he liked to tease zeph about his feelings for nightswan.

in 2 BBY after nightswan’s death, zeph chose to leave the crew to seek revenge on thrawn but not before giving his lightsaber to kaio for protection. when kaio insisted that zeph keep it for his own defence, zeph said he was safe as long as kaio was.

a few weeks before the death star gets destroyed, kaio left the crew and set out to find zeph again.

his concept was based on yamato from one piece

i like to think shanks has always wanted mihawk in his crew even when the roger pirates were still together but he took some time after roger’s death to train up, build a rep, get a nice bounty on his name, get a substantial crew and impressive ship, before going to look for mihawk to recruit him. like i imagine it takes a lot more than being the pirate king’s son to get mihawk’s attention, especially back then when he was becoming extremely famous and most of his time was probably spent taking on stronger marines or more impressive bandits than shanks at the time… so shanks would take maybe a year or two after roger’s death to make himself seem more of a pirate to be taken seriously before approaching mihawk to ask him to be his swordsman. even if he said no, he would at least be able to bargain for his time (their duels)

i know we all usually just use loguetown as the initial meeting but i feel like back then shanks had no feats to his name other than being lucky enough to be found by the pirate king (as far as i know) so mihawk, knowing he can find much more interesting opponents, might not have bothered (same as him initially not being interested in fighting zoro knowing he could find stronger opponents elsewhere) — especially since he might not have gotten his ‘strongest swordsman’ title yet and would likely be more interested in spending his time fighting those in the way of his goal instead of a pirate apprentice

anyway just a little thought about mishanks today… i just like “hard to get” mihawk + “works hard” shanks hehe
