Devin's Dude Ranch: Episode Nine

*the episode opens with a shot of Echo Valley Ranch. It's early-mid morning and the birds are singing.*

Devin, in diary room (with a lot of energy): "Today's the day of our second challenge and I can't wait to see how the guys do! Can you tell I'm really excited about this one!?"

*the next shot opens with Devin standing in front of a stage area set-up in her backyard. the contestants are lined up in front of her.*

Devin: "Hi guys! Good morning. Welcome to our second challenge. I hope you guys are ready to give this one all you've got because frankly, I've really been looking forward to today."

Devin (continues): "I can see it on your faces: 'Devin, what the heck are we doing?'. Well, fellas. Today, you'll be putting on a talent show!"

*the contestants murmur among themselves*

Devin (continues): "I know you've all got special talents and I want to see them today. Whoever impresses me the most will win a solo date. Are you guys ready?"

*the contestants cheer in reply*

Devin: "That's what I want to hear! Alright, Houston. You're up first!"

*the next shot shows Houston sitting down at a grand piano, he begins playing Moonlight Sonata*

*Devin can be seen in the background with a smile slowly spreading across her face*

*Houston's playing is beautiful, though he does trip over a few notes here and there. he grimaces when he does but pushes through and finishes the piece.*

*when Houston finishes he stands, receives his applause and waits to hear from Devin*

Devin: "Wow. That was truly beautiful, Houston. You continue to impress me. Thank you."

*Houston places his hand over his heart, mouths 'thank you' to Devin then returns to his seat with a smile on his face.*

Stan, in diary room: "Hot damn. Is there anything that boy can't do? I mean, it wasn't perfect, but it was sure a hell of a lot better than I coulda done. I might be in trouble for this date."

*the next shot shows Albert on stage. he has a microphone in his hand and is performing a comedy routine.*

Albert: "I went and visited my parents recently. My parents have a real, real, real fat cat. It’s real fat. People point it out, you know? They walk in; They’re like, 'Man, that cat’s fat.' And it feels rude, you know, like, 'He doesn’t speak Simlish, but we do, so maybe don’t say that.' And they’re just… you know, they’re like, 'What are y’all feeding this cat?'"

Albert (continues): "You’re like, 'Whatever you feed a cat, dude. Like normal cat food stuff. We pour a bowl. Like, if he eats eight birds outside, he doesn’t tell us.' You know, he’s not like, 'Oh, I ate out tonight. I’m good.' And then they’re like, 'Well, y’all should do something.' You’re like, 'What do you think we’re not doing? Do you think he has a gym membership and we don’t drive him to the gym?' He’s a cat. That’s his gym membership, he’s a cat. I watched him jump from the ground on top of the refrigerator. That’s like if I jumped on top of a school bus from the ground. Like, if I… if I did that, you’re not gonna be like, 'Well, you still could lose a little bit, you know.' Just keep doing what you’re doing."*

*Devin & the contestants can be heard howling with laughter*

*comedy bit originally by Nate Bargatze - because I'm too high and tired to try to write actual comedy.

*when his bit is complete, Albert puts the microphone back and waits to hear from Devin*

*Devin wipes her eyes and composes herself*

Devin: "That is...*bleep*ing hilarious, Albert. Do your parents really have a fat cat?"

*Albert nods*

Albert: "Oh yeah. His name is Reggie."

Devin: "Well, I love Reggie. And thank you so much for making me laugh so hard my face hurts. I didn't know you were such a comedian, but now that I do, that's a plus in your column, cowboy."

*Albert runs over to Devin and kisses her hand before hustling back to his seat*

Houston, in diary room: "I hate to admit it, but Albert's bit was actually really funny. Now I'm worried. I really want this date with Devin."

*The next scene opens with Stan at the microphone. he's backed up by music playing through the stereo behind him and he's singing Cheeseburger in Paradise.*

*Devin looks on, half impressed by the quality of Stan's singing voice and half amused by his choice of song.*

Stan (singing):

"I like mine with lettuce and tomato Heinz 57 and french fried potatoes Big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer Well, good God almighty which way do I steer For my

Cheeseburger in paradise Making the best of every virtue and vice Worth every damn bit of sacrifice To get a cheeseburger in paradise Get me a cheeseburger in paradise I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise"

*the music comes to an end, and Stan squares himself in front of Devin, clearly proud of his performance*

Devin: "Stan! That was both entertaining and impressive. I didn't know you could sing that like! And somehow that song choice is 100% you. I loved it. Thank you so much."

*Stan nods to Devin, thanks her and returns to his seat, wiping the sweat from his forehead*

Handra, in diary room: "Stan was living his best life up there. He was being true to himself and I loved that for him. Way to go, buddy!"

*the next scene opens with Handra front and center. He's playing Hotel California on guitar.*

*Devin leans forward in her seat and watches Handra play intently*

*Handra plays perfectly, making each note of the song come alive as he strums the resonator guitar.*

*when the song is over, he sets the guitar down and looks to Devin*

*Devin takes a deep breath*

Devin: "Handra. Wow. That was incredible and so...moving. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us. I had no idea you were musically talented. I'm very, very impressed."

*Handra beams at her, mouths 'thank you' before blowing her kiss and returning to his seat*

Albert, in diary room: "My boy Handra can play, holy *bleep*. I'm in trouble for this date. Man!"

Devin: "Guys, that was every bit as amazing as I hoped it would be. Thank you so much for showing me your talents. I am so impressed by all of you. Truly."

Devin (continues): "This was a really, really hard decision. But, at the end, I had to go with the person who surprised me the most with their talent."

Devin (continues): "And that person, is..."

Devin (continues): "Albert!"

*Albert stands up and looks utterly shocked*

*Winner picked by random name picker.

*he meets Devin at the front and the two share a quick hug*

Devin: "Congrats, funny guy."

*Albert grins and returns to his seat*

Devin: "Again, guys, thank you so much for today. I really had a good time and hope you did too. And don't forget - there are still plenty of chances to win solo dates with me."

Albert, in diary room: "I won. I'm going on a solo date with my girl. I can't believe it. And Mom told me I'd never get anywhere being funny. I guess I owe Reggie some catnip or something..."

Devin, in diary room: "I can't believe the talents these guys have been holding out on me. I mean, how amazing was today!? And I'm really, really looking forward to my date with Albert. I can't wait to spend more time with him and see if there's more between us than surface level stuff."

Devin's Dude Ranch: Episode Eight

*the episode opens with a shot of Devin staring out of her bedroom window*

Devin (voice-over): "The Cocktail Hour is over and now it's time for me to make my decision. Which one of these guys do I send home? I can see reasons to give each of them a second chance. Honestly, this feels too early to send anyone home. Ugh, this sucks!"

*the next scene opens with the Rose Ceremony. all contestants are lined up on the platform in front of Devin and the show's host, Venessa*

Venessa: "Welcome, everyone, to the first Rose Ceremony."

Venessa (continues): "Tonight, Devin will choose who she wishes to continue seeing by handing out roses to those lucky four. Contestants, you can choose to either accept or decline her rose if you no longer wish to pursue a relationship with her. Anyone without a rose at the end of the ceremony must immediately pack his belongs and leave the ranch. This week there was also a poll where our viewers voted on who they thought should go home. Devin has received those results and had the option of considering the results when making her decision.

Alright, good luck, gentleman. Devin, it's all yours."

Devin: "I want to begin by telling you all how thankful I am that all of you took this chance to be here with me. I know this experience has not been easy, even though we're still at the beginning, but I want you to know how much I deeply appreciate the time we've gotten to spend together. You're all amazing men and the decision I had to make tonight was very difficult. But, ultimately, I do believe it is the best decision."

*Devin picks up the first rose*

Devin (continues): "This first rose is going to the person I have had a very...intense connection with from the start, and every time we're together, I feel our connection getting stronger. I definitely want to see where this goes, Houston."

*Houston hustles off the platform and over to Devin with a huge smile on his face*

Devin: "Houston, will you accept this rose?"

Houston: "Yes, a million times, yes."

*Devin laughs softly as she hands him his rose*

*the pair hug before Houston returns to his place on the platform*

Devin: "My next rose goes to a man that is so easy to be around that our connection feels effortless. We have a lot in common, he has a great sense of humor, and I just really enjoy our time together. I definitely need more time with you, Handra."

*Handra steps off the platform and strides over to Devin*

Devin: "Handra, do you accept this rose?"

*Handra smiles at her*

Handra: "Absolutely."

*after taking his rose, Handra then kisses Devin on the cheek before making his way back to his spot*

Devin: "My third rose goes to someone that I definitely feel a connection with, but we need to spend more time together to figure out if there's serious potential between us. I want more, and I think you feel the same way, Albert."

*Albert moves off the platform and swaggers over to Devin*

Devin: "Do you accept this rose and the challenge to spend more time together?"

Albert: "Yes. I'm all in, beautiful."

*the two hug before Albert goes back to his spot*

Devin: "And here we are, down to the final rose. This was not an easy decision, because I really like both of the men standing here, waiting for the chance to continue."

Devin (continues): "Milo, you are such a sweet person with big dreams, and I love that about you. But, we're not at the same place in our lives and, frankly, I think you may be little young for me."

Devin (continues): "And Stan, we always have a blast when we're together. Our connection is easy, but I've been worried that maybe it's more of a friendship connection than anything else."

Devin (continues): "Ultimately, I had to go with my gut. And the man I want to continue seeing is...Stan."

*Stan hustles off the platform and over to Devin*

Devin: "Stan, do you accept this rose and promise to work on the romantic side of our connection?"

Stan: "I do, and I've never been more ready for an adventure in my life."

*Devin and Stan hug before he returns to his place*

*Milo then steps forward to join Devin*

Devin: "Milo, I'm so sorry. You really are a great guy. We just weren't right for each other. I really do wish you the best and I look forward to your many platinum albums one day soon."

*Milo sighs*

Milo: "Thank you for the opportunity, Devin. I don't feel like I got enough of a chance, but it is what it is. Someone has to be the first to go, right? Best of luck."

*Milo then turns and walks away*

Milo, in diary room: "After the Cocktail Hour I had a feeling it was going to be me. And yeah, it sucks. But, I meant what I said. I don't feel like I got a real chance," *looks at the floor* "It just sucks man. I really liked her."

Stan, in diary room: "Whew! That was a close one! All I can say is, I'm very grateful to be standing after tonight.

My plan moving forward? Romance the heck outta Devin. She won't know what hit her." *winks at the camera*

Devin, in diary room: "It was a very difficult decision, but I do feel like it was the right one. Ultimately, the viewers were right and voted exactly how I chose. I'm just glad it's over. I'm excited to move on with my four guys!"

Devin's Dude Ranch: Episode Seven

*the episode opens with a shot of Devin in her bedroom. she's getting ready for the cocktail hour event that's about to begin*

Devin (voice-over): "I'm really nervous for tonight. It's the first elimination, and going into tonight, I honestly have no idea what I'm going to do yet. Some of the connections are stronger than others, but there are others that aren't where I want them to be at this point. So, there's a lot riding on this Cocktail Hour."

*the next shot opens with the contestants lined up in front of the show's host, Venessa Jeong, and Devin.*

Venessa: "Welcome to the first Cocktail Hour, everyone. The purpose of tonight's event is to have some time with Devin before the elimination later tonight."

Venessa (continues): "Unlike other group events, Devin will be approaching you first. So, be patient. But, also make sure to use your time with her wisely because this will be the last chance you get to convince her why you should stay. Otherwise, enjoy. And I'll see you all at the Rose Ceremony."

*Venessa leaves and the group begins to mill about the space as Devin approaches the first contestant*

Devin: "Hi, Albert. Do you want to go somewhere more private to talk?"

*Albert smiles at her nervously*

Albert: "Absolutely."

*Devin leads him to a secluded nook*

Devin: "So how are you? We haven't gotten to spend a lot of time together this week."

*Albert nods solemnly*

Albert: "I know. It's my biggest regret right now. I wish I had made more of an effort during the group date. No excuses. I should have tried harder."

Devin: "I appreciate that. Because we don't have a lot of time here together, so if you're serious about this, you're going to need to step up," *she looks up at him and smiles* "And I want you to. Because I feel like we have a good connection."

*Albert's expression remains serious, but he's fighting a smile*

Albert: "Absolutely. I want to be here. You're amazing and I definitely see something developing between us."

*Albert then takes Devin's hands and looks into her eyes*

Albert (continues): "You have my word, I'm in this 100%. I will do better."

Devin: "Okay. Thank you. That's what I wanted to hear."

*Albert kisses her hands*

Albert: "I mean it."

Devin (teasingly): "You better."

*Albert laughs*

Albert: "I do. I want to walk away from this as your man."

Albert, in diary room: "I really *bleep*ed up this week. I guess I rested on my laurels because our earlier connection was so strong and didn't push as hard as I should have this week. *Bleep*, I hope I didn't screw this up with Devin. Talk about an epic failure..."

*the next shot opens with Devin approaching Stan*

Devin: "Hey cowboy. You want to get out of here?"

*Stan grins*

Stan: "I've never wanted to hear those words more in my life."

*as Devin is leading him away, she says:*

Devin: "Calm down. We're just going to have a chat."

*Stan chuckles*

*once they're in the library, Devin says:*

Devin: "Stan, you've said it yourself that you know we don't have a lot of time to get to know each other. And because it's elimination night and I really like you, I need to completely honest here. I'm not sure if our connection is romantic at all or if we just make really great friends. Not to sound like a high-school girl, but do you even like me?"

*Stan rocks back on his heels and looks stunned for a moment*

Stan: "Whew, what a surprise! I apologize, Devin, if I've done something that's made you feel that way. Truth be told, I'm crazy about you. I think maybe part of what you're pickin' up on is hard it is for me to be in here with all these other guys. It gets me in my head a bit."

Devin: "Wait. You're holding back because you're jealous?"

*Stan rubs the back of his neck*

Stan: "Well, in the plainest of terms, yessum."

*Devin takes a step closer*

Devin: "Do you want to stay? Even if it means being in here with them?"

Stan: "Yes. After our date last night, I realized I was going to fight until the bitter end because ending up with you would be worth all the blood, sweat, and tears."

Devin: "Well, I hope it doesn't come to that..."

Stan: "If it did, it would still be worth it."

Devin: "You really feel that way?"

*Now Stan takes a step closer"

Stan: "I do."

Devin: "Pinky swear?"

*Devin winks and holds out her pinky*

*Stan grins and links his pinky with hers*

*he then pulls her against him and locks her in a sweet and tender kiss*

Stan, in the diary room: "She thought I didn't like her? That one hurts me. Especially when I am crazy about her. She's an amazing woman and I'd be one lucky S.O.B. if she were to give me a chance after this. Getting to kiss her sure was nice, though. If I go out, at least it will be on one hell of a high note. I sure I hope I don't get sent home though."

*after leaving Stan, Devin now approaches Houston, who grins as soon as he sees her*

Houston: "Good evening, beautiful."

*Devin returns his smile and blushes*

Devin: "Would you like to have our talk?"

Houston: "I would love to. Lead the way."

*Devin takes Houston into her room. they stand in front of a roaring fireplace*

Houston: "Watcher, you look...breathtaking."

*Devin blushes again*

Devin: "You clean up pretty nice yourself."

*Smiles and glances down at the floor*

Houston: "Thank you."

Devin: "So, I think I know the answer, but I'm going to ask anyway. Do you still want to be here, Houston?"

*His eyes burn into hers*

Houston: "Absolutely. Wild horses couldn't drag me away. I know what I want. And what I want is you."

Devin: "Oh..."

*Houston now grabs her at her waist and pulls her against him and begins slowly kissing along her neck, making his way up to her ear where he whispers something the microphones can't pick up. Devin giggles in reply. they then share an intense moment of eye contact before he kisses her passionately.*

Houston, in diary room: "I've never been so sure of anything in my life as I am about how I want to be with Devin. Every moment I spend with her feels right, and every second without her feels like agony. I don't think there's any reason for her to send me home tonight, but if she did, my world would be shattered."

*the next shot opens with Devin walking over to Milo*

Devin: "Hi, Milo. Are you ready for our chat?"

*Milo looks visibly ill*

Milo (squeaks): "Yes."

*Devin leads him onto the front porch*

Devin: "Milo. I want to be completely honest with you, okay? I do like you, and I do see some potential between us. You're a very sweet guy, which is rare, believe me. But, I do worry that we're in different places in our lives. And I know you're only a few years younger than me, but at times it does feel too young. Those are my main concerns. What are your thoughts?"

*the camera cuts to Milo who looks paler than usual*

Milo: "I, uh," *swallows hard* "I guess I understand. I mean, I've made pretty poor choices in how I've approached you this whole competition. That's my fault. And I apologize for all of it. I guess my inexperience in the romance department is really showing, huh?"

*Devin smiles at him reassuringly*

Devin: "I've never been in a serious relationship, either. But, yes. Poor choices have been made and I'm afraid it's gotten in the way our connection. I feel like they've gotten you in your head and things aren't where I want them to be between us. But, do you want to be here, Milo?"

*Milo looked in her eyes pleadingly*

Milo: "More than anything."

*Devin nods, her expression contemplative*

Devin: "Thank you for being honest with me."

Milo: "I will always be honest with you, Devin."

*He then takes her hand and kisses it.*

Milo, in diary room: "This is bad. This is really, really bad. I might be going home tonight. And all because I'm a dumb*bleep* and made a bunch of stupid decisions. I don't want to go home. I'm not ready. I still have so much to prove to Devin. I hope she gives me another chance."

*Devin finally approaches Handra who was beginning to look nervous*

Devin: "Last but certainly not least. You ready?"

*Handra greets her with a nervous smile*

Handra: "For you? Always."

*the pair head out back and stand next to the pool*

Handra: "You look so beautiful tonight."

*Devin smiles up at him*

Devin: "Thank you. You also look really nice."

*Handra smiles*

Handra: "It's so good to get some time with you again. Even, under the circumstances."

Devin: "I think you and I both know you don't have anything to worry about."

*Handra looks genuinely relieved*

*Devin cocks an eyebrow*

Devin: "What? You seriously thought I was going to send you home?"

Handra: "I mean, not really, but that worry is always there."

Devin: "Well, you do still want to be here?"

Handra: "1000%, with every fiber of my being!"

Devin: "Good. Then you don't have anything to worry about...this week."

*she then grins, and Handra can't help but do the same*

Handra: "I better stay on my A-game."

Devin: "Yeah, you better."

*Handra and Devin then enter into an embrace and kiss*

Handra, in diary room: "It feels so good to hear that I'm definitely getting a rose this week. I can't imagine going home after the date we had. I'm really starting to care about his woman. She's incredible. I'm not willing to walk away yet."

Devin, in diary room: "So far tonight has been one of the most difficult of this whole experience. I did get some clarity with some of the guys, but others, I feel like it just made things more confusing. I still don't know what I'm going to do. Watcher, what the hell am I going to do?"

Devin's Dude Ranch: Episode Six

*the episode opens with a shot of Echo Valley Ranch at night. Crickets can be heard singing and there's an owl hooting off in the distance somewhere.*

*the contestants are sitting around the living room, engaged in various activities, oblivious to what's about to happen*

*suddenly, the door to Devin's room swings open and she exits. she makes her way to the living room.*

*she stops in front of the fire place. confused, everyone stops what they're doing and turn their attention to her. she can tell they're nervous, so she smiles at them reassuringly*

Devin: "Good evening, fellas. I have an announcement to make. Earlier I received a note instructing me to pick two of you for a date. Tonight."

*the guys shift in their seats and lean closer*

Devin (continues): "And I've decided to pick two people I haven't gotten to spend a lot of time with. So, with that being said. If you would be so kind, I would like for...

Devin (continues): "Stan and..."

*Stan smiles up at Devin and nods*

Devin (continues): "Milo to join me tonight."

*Milo beams at her from across the room, barely able to contain his excitement*

Devin: "Alright, you two. Go put on something warm and meet me outside in the back pasture in twenty minutes."

*after a time lapse, the next scene shows a sped-up shot of Stan and Milo approaching Devin outside. She's standing in front of a makeshift movie screen*

Devin (cheerfully): "Hi guys! I thought we'd watch a movie tonight. Have some popcorn, chat. That kind of thing. What do you think?"

*Milo steps forward and nearly trips over his feet*

Milo: "That sounds amazing!"

Devin: "Easy there, cowboy."

*Stan smiles apologetically at Devin, unassumingly on Milo's behalf before speaking up:*

Stan: "Count me in."

*the three take their seats on the crates opposite the screen*

Stan: "Thanks so much for picking us to come out with you tonight. I'm just happy to get more time with you, and the fewer guys that are around the better."

*Devin chuckles*

Devin: "I can image. I'm sure this is hard for you all. Especially as things progress."

Stan: "It hasn't gotten any easier. But, you're worth puttin' up with all the others for, Devin. 'Least till I run 'em off."

*Milo scoffs*

Devin: "That's very sweet of you to say, Stan. Unless you're Milo..."

*Milo grunts in agreement but doesn't interrupt*

Devin (continues): "So, tell me. What are you looking for in your next relationship?"

Stan: "We're just divin' right in?"

*Devin smiles*

Devin: "That's what the show's about, they tell me."

*Stan shrugs*

Stan: "Fair enough. I want an equal partner. Someone I can rely on when the chips are down just as much as she can rely on me. A lover. A friend. Someone to raise a family with. And grow old with. That unconditional love type of bond that will survive a hundred lifetimes and countless battle scars. You know, I've been married twice now. Lost my first wife to leukemia. And my second one, well, turns out she didn't care for me much. So, I'm hoping what they say is true; 'third time's a charm.' and all."

*Devin sits back, visibly moved by his answer*

Devin: "Thank you for being so genuine, Stan. That means a lot. I'm sorry to hear about your first wife. And, well, all of it. You deserve better than that and I hope you find what you're looking for."

*Stan smiles at her*

Stan: "Thank you, Devin. I appreciate it."

*Devin then turns to Milo*

Devin: "What about you, Milo? What are you looking for in your next relationship?"

Milo: "Well, full disclosure, I haven't been in a 'relationship' since high school. And she shattered my heart into a million pieces, so it didn't end well. But, what I learned from that experience is that I want to be with someone who wants the same things out of life. If they're not going to support my dreams it's not going to work and vice versa, you know? And everything else Stan said sounds about right too."

Devin: "Okay. Thank you for sharing. I appreciate your candidness."

*Milo grins at Devin*

Milo: "You're most welcome."

*Stan can be heard grumbling under his breath just off camera. something about "stealing his answer."*

*Devin returns her attention back to Stan*

Devin: "Okay, here's a fun question. Since we're getting ready to watch a movie, what's your favorite genre?"

Stan: "Easy. Western. But especially westerns mixed with sci-fi. I love both, honestly."

Devin: "That is the most you answer I've ever heard."

*Stan chuckles*

Stan: "What about you, missy?"

Devin: "Oh, I'm a horror fan. 100%"

Stan: "What, you like all the blood, guts, and stuff?"

Devin: "No. I'm more into the creepy, supernatural stuff. The kind that makes you question whether or not it's really happening."

Stan: "Oh, yeah. I like those. I can't stand the gore-fests, though."

Devin: "I'm not a big fan of them either. It feels cheap."

*Devin turns to Milo again*

Devin: "What about you?"

Milo: "You're going to laugh."

*Devin and Stan speak up at the same time:*

Stan: "Probably."

Devin: "We won't."

*Milo sighs and stares at the ground before muttering:*

Milo: "Musicals."

Stan: "Did the boy just say musicals?"

Devin: "He did."

Milo: "Look, I'm a musician okay? I enjoy the music. The singing. The dancing. They almost always have a happy ending. What's not to love?"

Stan: "The fact that they're terrible."

*Devin pinches her nose to try to stop the snort laugh that escapes anyway*

*after choking it back she says:*

Devin: "There's nothing wrong with that, Milo. Let's, uh, watch our movie."

*the film begins to roll*

Stan: "What movie is it?"

Devin: "Hamilton."

*Stan lets out a whimper and Milo gasps in excitement*

*Devin giggles*

Devin: "I'm totally messing with you, dude."

*Stan sighs with relief and Milo looks deflated*

Devin: "It's Saw X."

*They both look at her in horror*

*She cackles this time*

Devin: "Calm down. It's College Cram."

*the group enjoy cheddar popcorn as they watch the movie*

*when the movie is over, Devin turns to Milo*

Devin: "Milo, I had fun with you tonight. Thanks for hanging out with me."

Milo: "Anytime. And I mean that."

*Devin then turns to Stan*

Devin: "Stan, you are always entertaining to be around, but I really appreciate you opening up to me tonight."

*Stan looks both surprised and pleased*

Stan: "It was my pleasure. I look forward to our next time together."

Devin: "Alright, fellas. It's time to head back in. I'm cold and I don't know about you, but my bed is calling my name."

*at that, the three get to their feet and prepare to say their good nights*

*Stan pulls Devin into a hug and after a few beats they separate and he heads back toward the house*

Stan, in diary room: "Tonight felt good. It felt good to get more time with Devin, especially with less competition around. And it felt good to get my history off my chest. She's a good gal. Women like her are rare. I knew already liked her, but tonight makes me want to fight for her even harder now."

*Milo hugs Devin, but as she pulls away, he reaches up, cradles her face, and plants a kiss on her mouth. she is clearly caught by surprise and doesn't really move to kiss him back. after a moment he pulls away, smiles down at her and then turns and walks back toward the house. she's left standing there, confused.*

Milo, in diary room: "Yeah, tonight was awesome. I knew I had to get out of my head and be bold if I was going to make an impression on Devin. So, I kissed her," *laughs nervously in recollection* "I've never done anything like that," *stands there a moment, thinking back and then his face falls* "Oh, Watcher. What have I done?"

Devin, in diary room: "Tonight was...interesting. I mean, I really enjoyed hanging out with Stan and Milo. And I felt Stan opening up to me, but I'm still don't really feel a romantic connection. There hasn't been that jolt like I've felt with some of the other guys. Which I hate because I really like him as a person.

And then there's, Milo. What was going on with him tonight? There was this level of immaturity happening that I didn't see before and it kind of turned me off to be honest. And the way he kissed me....it was just odd. I'm honestly just really confused about the whole thing."

Devin's Dude Ranch: Episode Five

*the camera pans down to show Echo Valley Ranch, soon after the sun has risen. a rooster crows loudly.*

Devin (voice-over): "Today is my solo date with Handra and I'm really excited to see him. I like our connection. It's comfortable and easy. And we have a lot in common. So, yeah. I can't wait to see what happens between us when we have more time alone together."

Handra (voice-over): "I barely slept last night I was so excited about our date today. I can't believe I get to spend the day with Devin. I don't know what we're going to do, but as long as I'm with her, I know it's going to be fun."

*the next shot opens with Handra approaching Devin. she's waiting for him between two horses, one of which is her horse Gale. Devin is smiling at Handra*

Devin: "Good morning, Handra!"

*Handra beams at Devin*

Handra: "Good morning, beautiful."

*he comes to a stop in front of her and they hug*

Devin (teasingly): "Can you guess what we're doing today?"

*Handra glances at the horses, then looks back to Devin and jokingly scratches his head, as if confused*

Handra: "I was hoping you'd give me a hint."

*Devin lets out a loud laugh, which Handra follows with his own deeper chuckle*

Devin: "Well, I thought we'd go for a ride. And maybe stop for some breakfast along the way."

*their eyes meet and Handra gives her a lopsided grin*

Handra: "I would love that."

Devin: "Alright, great! Let me introduce you my friends here. This gorgeous creature to my left is my horse, Gale. And on my right is the newest addition to the ranch. His name is Bellamy, and he'll be your mount for the day."

*Handra's eyes light up as he looks over Bellamy. He makes he way over and gently runs his hand down the horse's neck*

Handra: "Hey there, big fella. It looks like you and I are going to be pals today."

*Bellamy relaxes his head in Handra's palm and closes his eyes, enjoying the affection*

*Devin smiles to herself, as if making note of how well the horse responds to her date*

*After a few moments of allowing them to bond, Devin speaks up:*

Devin: "You ready to saddle up?"

Handra: "You bet."

*the pair mount their horses and begin on their journey*

*the next shot fades in of Devin and Handra riding along a trail that winds up a desert mountain. Their conversation is indistinct, but it is peppered with laughter and sounds upbeat and playful*

Handra: "A fancy pergola in the middle of nowhere? I feel like that's definitely for us."

*Devin's laughter rings out against surrounding rock walls*

Devin: "You would be correct, sir. Onward!"

Handra: "Yes, ma'am!"

*the pair ride up to the Oasis' pergola and come to a stop.*

Devin: "Well, this is fancy."

*Handra nods in agreement as he leans forward in the saddle and scratches Bellamy's neck*

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

*Stan, Milo, and Houston are around the bar in the kitchen having breakfast*

Milo: "So, what do you think they're doing?"

*Houston puts his fork down, sighs, and presses his finger against his temple as if to stave off a headache*

Houston (dryly): "I'm trying not to think about it."

Milo: "Because it makes you jealous?"

*Houston sits silently for a moment, his jaw clenched, obviously considering whether or not if he was going to answer*

Houston: "Yeah, man."

*Houston picks up his fork and begins shoving the food around on his plate*

*Stan looks on silently as he sips his coffee*

At the Oasis...

*Devin and Handra and now seated at the table under the pergola, enjoying gourmet french toast*

Handra: "I don't know if I told you, but you look amazing today."

*Devin, who just shoved a fork-full of food into her mouth, now hides behind her hand as she chews and begins to blush*

Devin: "Thank you. You do too."

*Handra smiles and and glances shyly down at the table in reply*

Devin: "You handled yourself pretty well on Bellamy on the way up here."

Handra: "I spent some time as a horse trainer, mostly training ponies for kids back home. So, I've had my fair share of time in the saddle."

*Devin cocks an eyebrow*

Devin: "Really? That is so cool! A fellow horse trainer; yet another thing we have in common. You know, I teach riding lessons and most of students are kids. I think getting people involved with horses young is so important."

*Handra smiles at Devin, his eyes shining*

Handra: "That's amazing. And I agree. It creates a lifelong bond and respect that's really, well...magical."

*Devin nods enthusiastically*

Devin: "Yes! Exactly!"

Handra: "You train and sell competition show horses, right?"

*Devin nods*

Devin: "Yeah, that's right. But, I've got a new project I'm working on, too. See, Bellamy's not just any horse that happens to be at my ranch. I plan to breed him with Gale. That's my the next phase: breeding and training highly pedigreed Quarter Horses."

Handra: "Aaahhh. That makes perfect sense. That's exciting for you."

*Devin smiles and cuts another piece of french toast*

Devin: "I think so," *eats the piece she just cut and after she swallows she says:* "So, what about you? What are your plans for the future?"

Handra: "I bought my ranch, but I'm still in the process of really getting it up and running. I guess I'm just having trouble picking a direction of where I want to go with it. I feel like I could make it all work, you know? I'm stuck in a cycle of analysis paralysis, I guess, surrounded by a bunch of half-finished projects and none of them are making me money right now."

Devin: "Maybe you just need to figure out what you're passionate about? What would be worth dragging your *bleep* out of bed every morning at 5am. What you want to bleed for. I mean, you grew up on a farm. You know this life will literally make you bleed."

*they both share a short chuckle*

Handra: "Yeah, I know you're right. It's just harder than I thought it would be. This 'being my own man' and starting my own legacy thing."

Devin: "If it were easy, it wouldn't be worth doing. And honestly, you should be proud of all you've accomplished so far. I mean, we all have rough patches. But, it's how you get over them that really matters."

*Handra smiles up at her*

Handra: "You're really special. You know that?"

*she returns his smile*

Devin: "Thank you. I've just lived an interesting life that has taught me a lot of lessons. Most of them the hard way."

*Handra reaches across the table and takes her hand*

Handra: "I hope to hear all about it some day soon."

*their eyes meet and they smile at each other*

Devin (softly): "We can do that."

*After a brief time lapse, Devin looks to the away and sighs*

Devin: "It's time for us to head back."

*the two then make their way over the horses*

*before they mount, Handra stops Devin, takes her hands, and looks into her eyes*

Handra: "Thank you for an amazing day. And for listening to me and being so kind and supportive. I am so lucky to have been given the opportunity to be here with you. And before we go back, I need you know how much I like you, Devin. I really, really do."

*Devin beams at him*

Devin: "You're welcome. And thank you for an amazing day. I also really like you too, Handra. I'm glad you're here with me."

*Handra then holds Gale steady while Devin mounts*

*Once Devin is in the saddle, she leans down and kisses Handra. It's sudden and catches him by surprise, but he begins to kiss her back, holding onto Gale to steady himself*

*after the kiss, they two separate, look at each other, and burst out into smiles*

*Handra then makes his way over to Bellamy, with a little extra swagger in his step, and mounts*

Devin (to Gale): "Alright, girl. Let's go home."

*as the pair begin the ride home they join hands*

Handra: "Wait, does this mean we're literally riding off into the sunset together?"

Devin: "It's only noon, cowboy."

Handra, in diary room: "After today's date, I now know for a fact that Devin is woman I've been waiting for. She's so kind, and smart. Conversation and just being with her is easy. Everything about her feels right. And...she kissed me...best kiss of my life." *smiles at the floor in recollection*

Devin, in diary room: "I really enjoyed being with Handra today. And when he opened up and was vulnerable...that meant a lot. Every minute of being with him just feels natural. So, yeah, I kissed him," *laughs* "I think I surprised him a bit. But I wanted to shake things up. It was nice. I can't wait to see him again."

Devin's Dude Ranch: Episode Four

*the episode opens with a shot of Echo Valley Ranch. the sun sits low in the graying sky and the trees cast their long shadows across the ground.*

Devin, in diary room: "Tonight is our first group date and I'm so excited to get to spend more quality to time with the guys! I mean, I've missed them! Is that weird?" *lets out an unintentional snort laugh* "I know I just saw them all yesterday for the nectar making contest, but it's not like we actually got a chance to talk or bond or anything. So, yeah. I'm looking forward to tonight."

*next shot shows the contestants lined up in front of Devin. They are standing in the backyard of the house.*

Devin: "Hi guys! I hope you're all excited as I am about tonight because it's our first group date!"

*the contestants whoop in reply which makes Devin grin and blush slightly*

Devin (continues): "I know it's a little chilly out, but I have just the thing to keep us warm..."

Devin: "A weenie roast!"

*enthusiastic murmuring spreads among the contestants*

Devin: "Alright, why don't we head over to the fire pit and get comfortable?"

*everyone chooses a seat around an already roaring fire and looks to Devin expectantly. there's a beat of uncomfortable silence that follows.*

Devin: "So...you'll all have to forgive me if I'm a bit awkward. This is my first time going on a date with five dudes at the same time."

*chuckles ripple throughout the group*

Devin (continues): "There are dinner kits next to everyone's chairs if you're hungry. Otherwise, I thought we could just talk. Get to know each other better. To get things going I thought we could go around and all share something fun about ourselves. How about what's the silliest thing you've ever searched on the internet?"

*the group laughs again*

Stan: "Only if you go first, missy."

*more laughter, with Devin joining in*

Devin: "Alright, fair enough."

*she pauses a moment to consider her answer while the group looks on*

Devin: *chokes on a laugh* "Oh my Watcher. I can't believe I'm about to admit this to you guys. Okay. So, my cousin, Lacey, got me an AirTag because, and you should all know this about me, I am infamous for losing my keys. Well, needless to say, I lost 'em. But for the life of me, I couldn't remember exactly how she said the AirTag worked, so I pulled out my phone and searched," *pauses, covers her mouth with her hand, and squeezes her eyes shut* "Find my keys."

*the group howls with laughter*

Devin: "I know! I know! It was so dumb! But cut me some slack, okay? I'm not the most technically savvy!"

*as the laughter subsides, she turns to Houston*

Devin: "Your turn, cowboy."

Houston: "Hmmm....," *settles back in his seat and thinks for a few beats*

Houston (continues): "Alright. This one seems silly now, in hindsight. But, it was really late at night and I hadn't had much sleep and I had been writing for almost ten hours straight. But, I searched," *pauses briefly and smiles to himself*, "Does grammatical phrasing and ending dictate the relationship between syntax and the poetic line?"

*the group is so quiet the only sound are the crickets singing in the background*

Milo: "I don't get it."

*Devin looks slightly confused*

Houston: "Well, you see..."

Stan: "Don't even try, man. We're all too dumb to understand."

*the group breaks out into laughter again*

Handra: "I'll go next."

Devin: "Awesome. Let's hear it!"

Handra: "I'm kinda ashamed to admit, but this is something I have searched for on more than one occasion," *surprised hissing emanates from the people around him* "Yeah, I know. But, I can never remember which one is the damn salad fork."

*Handra laughs nervously*

Albert: "Wait, didn't you also work in a restaurant?"

*Handra's head droops*

Handra: "Yes."

Devin: "Well, I don't think you'll have to worry about that around here. My philosophy is one fork for everything."

Houston: "Who has time for all those extra dishes, am I right?"

*Devin glances over and grins at Houston*

Devin: "Nail. Head."

*the two share a moment of eye contact before Stan clears his throat*

Stan: "Well, mine was an almost search. I started to type it in and thought it was too stupid and stopped myself."

Albert: "Oh, I gotta hear this."

*Devin looks to Albert*

Devin: "*Bleep*, me too."

*Stan grins and chuckles to himself*

Stan: "As I'm sure y'all have figured out by now, I'm very fond of my coffee. Well, one day I almost searched caffeine overdose. Isn't that ridiculous? Can you imagine?"

*Devin glances around the group with a worried expression*

Devin: "Umm...Stan. Caffeine overdose is a real thing. I mean, it's not super common, but it even kills people."

*Stan's face falls*

Stan: "What?"

*His eyes search the faces of the other contestants who are nodding to him in confirmation*

Stan: "Well, *bleep*."

*Houston reaches over and pats Stan on his shoulder*

Houston: "Sorry, buddy."

Milo: "I guess I'll go, " *he sighs and leans forward, resting his arm on his leg*, "I don't have the best memory. Probably because I've been hit in the head too many times. But, to make a long story short, I couldn't member my Mom's phone number so i had to search it after I got a new phone," *buries his face in his hand and laughs* "Which is really, really sad."

*the group laughs meekly, almost as if unsure if they should or just feel sorry for him*

Devin: "Awww! I'm not going to lie. I've been there. I mean, not with family. but with someone else I probably should have known their number."

Milo: "Thanks, Devin. At least I know I'm not alone."

*Devin winks across the fire at Milo*

Devin: "You're up, Albert."

Albert: "Can you milk cowplants?"

*the group sits in stunned silence for a moment, processing what Albert just said*

Albert (continues): "That was my search. And I already know what you ranchers are going to say," *holds up his hand to use a puppet and takes his voice up an octave* "Of course cowplants don't product milk, Albert. They're not actually cows. They're aliens," *his voice shifts back to normal* "Thank you, everyone. I found that out when I searched."

*Albert laughs and plants his face in the palm of his hand*

*the group bursts out into laughter, everyone except Stan*

*Stan has Albert locked in a steely stare, the hot dog he's been roasting now turning black in the open flame*

*indistinct conversation and laughter can be heard as a low buzz begins to fade in*

*conversations fade out as the buzz grows louder*

*Stan's glare begins shifting to each of the men around the fire*

Stan, in diary room: "I don't know what happened. I was just sitting there, and suddenly a wave of...intense jealousy came over me. Getting Devin's attention in this pack of wolves feels *bleep*ing impossible. This is going to be so much harder than I thought."

*the camera cuts back to the campfire. everyone is locked in their own conversations.*

Houston: "You know, I'm not exactly a fan of technology, either."

Devin: "Oh yeah?"

*Houston nods solemnly*

Houston: "Since the war."

*Devin's face softens*

Devin: "It's okay if you don't want to talk about it."

Houston: "No. It's okay. I want you to know."

*she nods and leans closer*

Houston: "It's just, that I've seen what we've made technology into. What it's capable of. The horrors it can inflict. I guess, it's made me not trust it."

Devin: "I don't think anyone can fault you for that. Least of all me."

*the two lock eyes and share a moment of comfortable silence*

*after an obvious time lapse, the next shot is focused on Devin*

Devin: "Guys, this has been a lot fun but unfortunately, it's time to call it a night. I hope you had as much fun as I did."

*everyone gets to their feet, hug Devin, and begin making their way into the house*

*Devin begins to head inside when Houston hurries behind her*

Houston: "Devin! Wait!"

*Devin glances over her shoulder before stopping in her tracks and turning to wait for Houston to catch up*

Houston: "This is probably against the rules or whatever, but I don't care."

*he reaches out, takes her hand, and pulls her gently against him.*

*Devin smiles in surprise*

Houston (continues): "I've been dying to do this and I couldn't wait any longer."

*Houston wraps his arm around Devin's waist and as she drapes hers across his shoulder. their faces are inches apart*

Devin: "So do it, already."

*she now cradles his face, her eyes burning into his*

*Houston smiles down at her*

*after a beat Houston leans forward, eagerly kissing Devin for the first time.*

*she meets his lips with a soft moan*

*Houston gently tightens his grip on her*

Houston, in diary room: "A gentleman doesn't kiss and tell. But, suffice to say, this is one of my most magical nights of my life."

Devin, in diary room: "He kissed me. He *bleep*ing kissed me." *swoons*
