I was gonna spend my break day relaxing. Maybe take a walk. Finish watching “Our Flag Means Death”, but nah I wanted to draw Lila instead.

Just exploring variations of her suit until I find something I love. I’m also working on a redeemed Lila civilian look. Two words: Pinstripes and corduroy.

I haven’t been looking at any of the Season 5 leaks, but Season 4 hasn’t made me that excited for it. Except for Hawkdaddy’s new look. Love that garbage.

Is it just me or the show spent little to zero time to build a meaningful bond and friendship between Marinette and Adrien? Aside from the three dance scenes every time they interact Mari is always clumsy and awkward and Adrien is just oblivious.

I disagree.

I think that we just hyper focus on the romance because we see things from Marinette’s perspective. Who puts things in a more romantic light.

But if we really look at it.

Things Adrien has done for his friend Marinette:

- Made her a friendship bracelet,

- Encouraged her designing on multiple occasions (even modeling her designs when asked)

-Enjoyed hanging out during partycrasher

- Went all over London to get her a prescription he thought she needed.

-Tried to improve their relationship by playing a fun prank (it backfired but it showed he was trying)

-Adrien calling her an everyday Ladybug.

-Letting her sleep on his shoulder when she was exhausted.

-Stood up for her multiple times against Lila and Chloé.

-Threatened Lila

-Was willing to give up his seat for Marinette (in a gaming tournament and in the classroom)

And those are just several examples.

Now in Marinette’s case we don't always see her actions from a purely platonic standpoint. But how about we focus on the actions in which she puts his needs above her romantic gestures (I.E. Because it made him happy/helped him out with little to no gain)

-Marinette didn't tell Adrien she made him the scarf.

-Marinette helped Adrien escape his crazy fans.

-Marinette stood up to Gabriel to let him go on the America trip and encouraged him to try and come along. (Which would have made things harder for her to get over him. But still)

-Marinette giving Adrien advice with Kagami DESPITE it hurting her feelings.

-Backing away so Kagami and Adrien could get romance ice cream. (Twice)

There is also a couple more but I will say.

Marinette and Adrien do have a strong bond, platonic or otherwise. Maybe season 4 will help flesh it out more.

“Let me start by saying that I understand WHY the animators don’t want to spend the time/money to give Adrien more outfits, but it drives me CRAZY that he always does photo shoots in the same outfit he wears EVERYDAY. The point of the shoots should be to get photos Adrien modeling Gabe’s new designs, it would make no sense for any designer to re-photograph the same outfit that many times. At this point I’d rather they just say he has a shoot without showing it.”

Am I the only one who realized the only reason why Adrien started dating Marinette was BECAUSE she was Ladybug?

I mean their little montage was cute and all, but I think Chat Blanc further showed that they need to see each other as actual people before going into a relationship with each other.

Sometimes I think about how easy it would have been to establish Ladybug and Chat Noir as an actual balanced unit where both of them are necessary to defeat Akuma, instead of the creators acting like they are while repeatedly proving in the story this isn't the case.

As the show currently stands, Chat Noir isn't actually necessary. Like...yes, he takes the hits for LB at times, and he helps in fights and eases her burdens, but at the end of the day LB has on multiple occasions done things on her own, if not outright also fighting Chat too.

This isn't to say that this couldn't work as a narrative. There's nothing wrong with having a team of heroes who don't *need* to be fighting together to succeed, but *wanting* to.

The problem is that the showrunners insist they're on an equal standing while constantly showing that this isn't the case. This is especially grating because the show is always on about the black cat and ladybug miraculous being a set pair, yin and yang, destruction and creation, a balanced set meant to be put into play together. But only Ladybug is 'necessary' to deal with Akuma, which immediately throws things OUT of balance.

All they had to do was make it so that only Chat could destroy the object housing an Akuma, and only LB could cleanse them and do the miraculous cure. This way, both are equally required (and maybe this way wouldn't be constantly used as some inconsistent gag character sidekick), and are an actual balanced duo.
