Asanoha thoughts
She likes going to liminal spaces because she finds them peaceful rather than eerie. I imagine that because she does this, she has also been the reason some people have said particular places are haunted. Only because they saw her and assumed she was a ghost or something.

Yuichiro ran as fast as he could, doing his best to assist his fellow Kakushi along the way as they all tried to find shelter from this strange and awful demon. A part of him wondered if his life was just a series of unfortunate events. The fact that his life was being upended like this once again was frustrating at best. Was there really nothing he could do but run and hide like a coward? He grimaced at the self deprecating thoughts, shaking them away for now. He didn't have time for that. Otherwise he'd end up getting himself into an even shittier situation for not paying attention to his surroundings.
The Kakushi Yuichiro quickly shooed people to an area that seemed to be safe. It was easy to get them to listen at least, since most didn't want to hear his foul language if he had to repeat himself. He was fine with being considered mean and rude. Doing so kept people safe, more often than not, right?
Yuichiro was once again broken from his thoughts as he heard a loud screech from the demon that continued to summon portals to who knows where, and he saw the silhouette of what was obviously a demon slayer against the moon, slicing away at the monster that had attacked. That was a good sign at least. Slayers were here to save them. But Yuichiro knew well enough that there were some casualties. And there would probably be many more missing due to those mysterious portals.
What he hadn't expected was for the slayer to land right in front of him. And due to the moon being full and bright, he was able to recognize that familiar teal hair. However... this couldn't be Muichiro, right...? The hairstyle was quite different as well as his overall combat style and breathing technique. And before Yuichiro could even question it, his one arm reaching out to get answers, the familiar slayer was out of his reach once again to take down the demon.
"Who are you...?" he muttered to himself, his arm dropping back down to his side as his gaze floated back towards the portals curiously. It had to have something to do with those. But he didn't have time to sort out how. For now, he continued towards safety with the rest of the Kakushi, hoping to run into the mysterious slayer once again.

A small smile cracks across Yuichiros face at the seemingly never ending rage that his companion seemed to have. Hearing him really bitch about the latest group he had to deal with. Shinasugawa really had the worst luck when he was forced to look after other slayers. Kept in stride with him, he was content to just continue to listen to the Wind continue his complaining. Pinks, oranges, a wide array of reds swept across the sky as dawn was fast approaching. Neither had gotten hurt from the few demons they had come across, least that were not self inflicted on the Wind pillars end. But just as the other would sigh, about to ask the younger a question, a spec of darkness moving at an incredible speed caught the youths eye. He moves faster than his mind, catching the others arm, twisting with a hard pull. The momentum threw the elder to the floor, while also pushing the youth into the unknowns pathway. Before he could even think, it’s slender form had caught wrapped itself around one of his legs. Coiled up and around his torso, secured itself taut around his neck.
“TOKITO—“ the shout of his last name, pools of cerulean laced with worry locked with Shinasagawa’s own widen gaze. He scrambled to his feet, going for his blade to cut Yuichiro free. But it was too late.
With one violent pull, he was yanked from his place and disappeared deep into the woods.
Violent cracking of wood broken by force of this things movement, far off yells of his own last name, the world blurred together as he was spirited away. Gritting his teeth, he puts all the strength he has to try for his sword.
Then the world seemed to go completely dark. Pitch black. Stolen from the world he knew, reality broke into nothingness.
Sounds of distress, screams of the dying, scent of ember.. his eyes snap open to a familiar sight of the Kakushi village with this large figure wreaking havoc. A demon?! But how—
Many tendrils were dipping into these…openings just like the one he’d been pulled out of. It’s grip finally release, the hashira is thrown a mile high. Eclipsing the moon, his body twists as he draws his sword in one swift fluid motion. Pulled back eye level, a glint of cyan cuts through the night to plunge deep into the Demons flesh. As he allows himself to fall, with his fall, flesh begins to split in too. Causing the oni to release a deafening screech, and capturing its sole focus on small form of Yuichiro.
Soft thumping as his feet came to land with grace. Flicking his blade up and to the side, he glares at his new massive prey. Landing, unbeknownst to him, right before a fallen kakushi, whom he shared a name with. His back to him, he takes a steady breath, slides his back foot into a wide stance, before charging at the screaming, thrashing demonic beast.

Asanoha hummed softly in thought to herself as she tucked her hair behind her ear and leaned against the nearby wall. It didn't come as much of a surprise to her that Naruto had asked about her past. He was naturally a curious person it seemed, and she never went about just offering the information on her own. Part of her felt pleased that he wanted to know more about her, but she also worried that revealing more about herself would change how he saw her towards something more negative. Asanoha couldn't deny that she trusted him with this, however. So she sighed soft and began to speak.
"Well..." She started, chewing at her bottom lip for a moment, "It's no secret that I'm from Kirigakure. I grew up there during my early childhood. I'm sure you've heard what kind of place that was. A bloodthirsty and haunted land. But... it's the only home I know."
Asanoha's gaze seemed to become more distant as she recalled her childhood, "My mom was very sick after giving birth to me and she knew she wasn't going to be around to watch me grow up. And so she told my father her secret; That she was from the Yuki clan. Threatened him to keep me safe and raise me before she passed away. However... That safety didn't last long. I was ambushed one night~ And that's when my Hyoton manifested. I was scared of what was going to happen to me, so I ran home to the only place I thought I would be safe only for my father to..." Asanoha pursed her lips as her brows furrowed, her hands clenching at the memory.
"He called me a monster and told me to leave. I've been on my own since then. That is until I found others like me~ And friends like you. I only found out years later, after visiting the abandoned shack I called home and finding old papers, he had made a deal to get rid of me in turn for money. He wanted to get rid of me before I became a problem, I guess. The only claim I have is this blood of mine that everyone calls cursed. And we've practically been wiped out as an official clan~ Picking up the pieces of it all has been a challenge."

Naruto ran up to her, wrapping his arms around her in a big bear hug. "I missed you!"
All Asanoha heard was the rapid footfalls of someone approaching her before she felt her feet leave the ground and arms wrap tightly around her body.

Once she heard the familiar sound of Naruto's voice, she relaxed as she burst into soft giggles and returned the hug. "You missed me? I guess I have been off the radar for a bit too long~ You've never hugged me this tightly before."

@sharkfinx <plotted starter>
A soft and mildly irritated sigh escaped Asanoha as she glanced up towards the cloudy sky. It was going to be raining soon, and here she was in the middle of no where and not exactly within reach of her home. Maybe the obvious answer would be to start running... however...
Asanoha grumbled under her breath as she looked down towards her rounded belly. She was still getting used to this development and she'd rather not slip and fall. Maybe getting caught in a little rain wouldn't be so bad. It wouldn't kill her. She would need to find shelter somewhere soon though in case the incoming storm got too bad. It had been roughly seven months of this at this point so she would soon be reaching the end of her pregnancy. A part of her was genuinely surprised she had managed to avoid any familiar faces thus far. Especially for so long. She had essentially disappeared without saying much of anything to anyone for a few reasons once she had found out. After all, she figured she could take care of herself just fine during this time in her life. And truthfully, the less people that knew, the less she figured she would have to worry about the safety of her unborn child.
As she continued along her undetermined path, Asanoha's ears picked up on the telltale sign of leaves rustling. It simply could have been the wind, but naturally, she had been extra cautious about such things and remained on guard. Asanoha picked up the pace of her walking, when she heard footsteps this time. Whoever was tailing her either wasn't very good at being sneaky or simply did not care. Asanoha wasn't going to take the risk of being gentle, however.
The air around her became very chilly, a clear result of hyoton as she finally spoke out into the open, waiting for the mystery person to show their face. "Who are you and what are you following me for?"

The funniest thing Asanoha has ever done (and this happens somewhere in the new-gen era), is that she went and got pregnant on purpose and then hid from everyone the entire time. And when she came out from hiding she had her infant son with her and didn't even acknowledge that she was gone for nearly a year.

Asanoha appreciated Naruto's concern for her wellbeing, sure. It wasn't like she enjoyed being tossed around and injured, but she didn't want him to think that she was made of glass, either. Perhaps that was just his nature, though. If she thought about it long enough, she was sure she would feel the same way if the shoe were on the other foot. However, she couldn't help but to quirk an eyebrow as she snorted softly at Naruto's attempted joke. His confidence was cute. "A hot blonde guy with anger issues, huh?" she repeated in amusement. "I'm sure there are worse places I could be. I feel safe here~"
And it was the truth. It was a very human emotion to be angry, but Asanoha didn't have any worries that Naruto's anger and frustration would be directed at her. Not of his own will, that is. She took a moment to examine his hand briefly once again, noting that it did seem to look better, but then her attention was immediately grasped by Naruto tucking her hair behind her ear.
Oh.
He had never done that before, and Asanoha felt her cheeks warming a bit at the intimate gesture. Before she could even lean into his touch, however, Naruto had pulled away, ending the moment just as quickly as he had started it. How confusing.
"Listen, my rations aren't that bad. They do the job~" Asanoha retorted. She wasn't genuinely offended by it, at all. It wasn't exactly the best meal, but it didn't require setting up a fire which was more than good enough in Asanoha's books. Sometimes, making a fire was just out of the question. "But yes, I know how to start a fire. I learned to bring some things to make it easier. Starting a fire the hard way is... not fun. I shouldn't be surprised the king of all things ramen has actually brought cups, though. Can't go a day without it, huh?" she teased lightly while reaching for Naruto's bag and hauling it over to sit between them.
"You don't have anything you'd be embarrassed for me to see in here, right? I figured I should ask before I go digging~"
Despite his initial reluctance, he yielded to her gentle insistence, allowing her to guide him to a seated position beside her as she tended to his wounded hand. Though it seemed counterproductive, he would willingly strike the cave wall repeatedly if it meant ensuring her safety. A soft sigh escaped his lips as she gradually eased his pain—the sound of rain serving as a balm to soothe his anger and frustration. Truthfully, Naruto was grateful that he hadn't frightened her. The thought of Asanoha looking at him differently would have weighed heavily on his heart.
“But I do have to apologize. That asshole got away, and you were hurt. The mission has gone to shit and now you’re stuck here with a hot blonde guy with anger issues and a chaotic fox inside of him.” The last part was a joke, partially anyway. When he finally mustered the courage to look in her direction, a genuine smile graced his lips for the first time in days. She was kind and sweet, taking care of him despite the circumstances. How could he not smile?
Tumblr media
“Either way, thank you. For the food. For everything.” He reached out, almost entranced, and gently tucked a loose strand of dark hair behind her ear. His hand lingered on her cheek, brushing away some dirt with his thumb. If he had to be stuck here with anyone, he was glad it was her.
Realizing how intimate and weird he was being, he pulled his hand away, cheeks flushing with embarrassment. Cerulean eyes quickly averted to the storm outside, trying to regain his composure. The awkwardness of the moment, not to mention the chakra exhaustion, caused his stomach to grumble.
“Berries? Dried meat? You’re gonna make me cry.” The thought of starving to death triggered a memory.
"Oh—I should have two cups of ramen in my bag. I could really use somethin' warm right about now." He gestured slightly to her left. "I also have a bottle of water in there. Do ya know how to start a fire?"

There it was, once again. The reminder from Muichiro that it was quite possible that if it weren't for Tanjiro, he might not even be here to talk with Yuichiro like this. The elder twin continued fighting the grimace that was trying to make itself present and instead tsked a couple of times and shook his head. It really couldn't be helped. Muichiro was adamant about this.
"You're trying to change my mind about him..." he muttered, mostly to himself as he aimed a thoughtful look at his brother. "You want me to give him a fair chance. I guess I won't chase him off if he's really your friend. "
Yuichiro took another long pause, his brow twitching in mild annoyance at the effort he was actually putting in for the sake of Muichiro. "Maybe once you're feeling better, we can make a gift to thank him." It's... the right thing to do. he said, his words slow and uncertain, but then he perked up to add on an extra condition.
"And you can deliver it to him."
Yes. He was indeed intending on sending his younger brother to deliver their appreciation gift on his own. Yuichiro wasn't quite sure he could face Tanjiro yet and be able to control his mouth. He trusted his brother's judgement, of course. And since Muichiro was pleading Tanjiro's case so strongly, Yuichiro knew that he being rude to the Kamado boy was probably not a good idea.
"But you can't get better soon without getting rest." Yuichiro pointed out. He was sure that Muichiro didn't want him leaving him and quite frankly, he wasn't keen on leaving him either. So instead, Yuichiro just decided to crawl into bed in the little space next to his brother. He might get in trouble, but that was something to worry about later.
"Two upper moons though..? That's pretty insane now that I think about it. Things are becoming really troublesome lately. You mentioned hideous art... What kind of demon makes art that's ugly? That sounds stupid as hell. It's good that he's dead if he's that useless."
To stop here... He wouldn't be able to rest again. That despite how weak his body felt, for every ounce of pain that coursed through his body... If his brother were to leave here and now, even should he return later. It would be impossible to find the ease to sleep. Now that they were together again, he didn't want to wait again.
Not ever again.
The words that came from the slayer resonated deep into him. They reached far beyond his brother's own attempts. Hitting the source of his desires to help others. Their father. How he gazed up at him with soft tears in his eyes, the gentle smile and the warmth of his red gaze. His lessons on helping others clung deep into his soul. Unlike his brother, who seemed to reject those ideals. That they were unrealistic in practice. That sometimes, they had to think of themselves in their own self preservation... Someone to round out the more ditzy younger brother.
Tumblr media
It was true, bad luck seemed to follow Tanjiro at every turn. Or perhaps one might consider it good luck. With how elusive the upper moons have become, each mission he seemed to find one after another. All after the fact he was the first to encounter Kibutsuji Muzan by pure chance. Long before any of them had ever seen the beast itself.  '  I made it out though... Even if every inch of my body feels like its weighted by lead... I survived. If Tanjiro hadn't been there... I'm not sure what would have happened. Kanroji and I might have been powerless to stop the two upper moons ourselves. ' No, they would have fallen far too quickly... If not for the mark that etched itself across them both.  '  I wouldn't have unlocked my potential, and if Upper four didn't kill me first.. Upper five would have. I'd have failed not only myself... But the swordsmiths... Master, and you... '

What type of Symphony are you?
Tumblr media
Partita: The Soloist
You are the silence in the theatre as the soloist readies his bow, and the chill one feels at the strike of the first note. You are the undeniable gravity that brings everything together, and you hold captive the fool and the genius alike. You make no promises with life for which path you are to take, and that is why your life can be nothing but extraordinary-- you know no other way. Though the mirror may be your greatest enemy, you know there is no absolution but that in the reflection. Through light and dark, you feel no discomfort in being alone though at times you crave affection. No matter. You persist. And that is your greatest strength. Your song: Partita in E Major by Bach

Yuichiro could easily see the gears turning in his twins head as Muichiro tried to make sense of the face he had made and what would have caused him to feel so hostile towards Tanjiro. Explaining it would only make him feel more ashamed because he truly didn't have a good reason for it. But maybe he didn't need to say anything at all. He was sure his brother knew without even saying it.
Either way, Yuichiro listened to his brother, his brows furrowing with worry at the pained breath Muichiro took. And Yuichiro had the brief thought that maybe they should have this conversation when he was feeling much better. However, he wasn't too keen on leaving his brother's side now. The words Tanjiro had said to Muichiro were very similar to the words that their father tried to instill in Yuichiro before his untimely death. The words that had made him harden his own heart to protect Muichiro from the world and his own naive ideals.
"Hey, don't overdo it, Muichiro." he muttered, worry clear in the undertones of his voice before he heaved a sigh and shook his head. He had to face the facts. Tanjiro was probably the very reason Muichiro had even made it back alive. "Listen, I'm not gonna say I like this. But I've... learned that my ways aren't exactly the best. It's still hard, though. Thinking about everything I've heard revolving around him, how can I not worry. I mean, Look at you!"
A soured expression... It seemed to suit the other twin. But it doesn't go unnoticed. Even in his tired and dazed state, he can see the way his face contorts with disgust over the other slayer's name. Did they have some animosity between them the hashira was unaware of? Surely it wasn't anything on Tanjiro- Even after how cold Muichiro had been towards him, he still greeted him later with a smile. His hand extended to help him look for his swordsmith, Kanamori... Considering his brother's rather harsh reputation, long before his days as a kakushi, it wouldn't surprise him if his disgust was purely a one-sided affair.
Truly he couldn't even put into words his gratitude for the sunbreather. For his patience and kindness, for bringing him back to the world around him. How the other reminded himself of himself... Would he have been just like him had things gone differently? A boy brimming with kindness to the world around him, regardless of how cold and cruel- much to his own brother's dismay. There wasn't a way to ever know, all that he could do now, was be inspired by the other's dedication to helping others. In turn doing so himself, just as he'd desired for all along.
Tumblr media
It pained him to admit how much faster Tanjiro had reached him over his own brother. Despite his countless attempts to reach, they consistently and inevitably failed. Perhaps it was the deep lingering memories of the harsh and cruel treatment that'd been handed to him by his twin. That his own walls prevented him from even reaching Muichiro's newly built ones. One's he'd grown, mimicking his brother's behaviors.
'  I still haven't gotten to talk... Since we were separated by upper four...  '  There is a sharp inhale, forcing him to grip at his hand tighter as a wave of discomfort spirals through his body.  '  I'd been trying to get back sooner... To aid him in the fight. But, I'd been pulled away by Kotetsu... He begged me to help him and the other swordsmiths... I'd almost left him to die... But, '  Exhaling, he loosens his tight grip.  '  But I'd remembered what he said... Helping others, often means helping yourself... '
Tumblr media
' Trouble would have come regardless... If he hadn't been there, ' A small pause. ' There could be a chance I wouldn't be here... There were two upper moons. If I hadn't recalled the look in his eyes... The things he said, I could have become one of those.... hideous art pieces... '
