A highlight to my last published video. I really liike this behind shot angle where I can really see what each shot looks like. In this you can see where I am performing a string of deliberated actions from a horizontal tilted bow, raise, return the bow to a vertical position, aim, draw, loose. I am building muscle memory to improve my accuracy where eventually it will assimilate into my technique and form. After I released a video earlier this year practicing short draws. A kind archer suggested I try keeping my bow up ready for the next nocking. Thankyou very much. . . This is a new skill for me as I automatically drop my bow to my side when about to nock another. I had a little go then decided to continue filming the rest of this first practice session to share my progress. For full version click @naturalbowwoman profile link . This helps with speeding up my shot and have found it really does make a difference. . . I was doing ok and then hubby suggested to lay the bow horizontally whilst still raised. I tried this and it worked very well. I found it much easier and smoother with the nocking process. . . It really is helpful to have someone else watching to see what I couldn't see and give good constructive advice. With the help of my cameraman, (hubby), I finally got around to measuring the distance of my archery shooting range. . This garden (backyard) is an amazingly versatile range for the traditional, instinctive archer and has a good size distance to play with. . My homemade measuring stick was simply a long piece of wood cut into a two metre length that was laying around in the shed. . Hubby and I had a lot of fun measuring this as you will see in the video. I'm so pleased with this traditional archery shot! I was keen to vlog this success and tell you about it.I only set it up today and began with approx 5 metres from a different tree, moving to approx 8 metres. When the arrows clipped the bottle ring target, they'd fly off in different directions, so my (Longman target) I was using as a backdrop, wasn't really working. After a thought and fixing it to another tree, where the cardboard box, Longman target is placed, (that's what I call it) I went a bit further after a few shots of around 8 or so metres. I believe it was about 15 metres, less or more I'm not sure, I didn't measure it. Even with tatty, arrow fletchings with barbs missing from it, the arrow still flew well. A longer distance may have given a different story perhaps. If you look at the angle of the bottle rings where the arrow has gone through it, you will see how close the other two were before this third arrow. The lower shot (4th arrow) below was deliberate because I didn't want to risk a Robin Hood type shot and damage or break the arrow nocks.
