"Flawless" a microfic for @fromagony and @godsofwoes

James Potter was perfect. He had no flaws, and yet here he was, lying down next to Regulus as if he was worthy of his attention. As if Regulus wasn’t just flaws. He wished he could simply appreciate the moment; he was with the boy he had been crushing on since last summer when he took both Black Brothers in. But his mind couldn’t stay still.

They were in the astronomy tower, close enough that if James stretched, even slightly, their hands would brush gently, and close enough for Regulus’ mind to be an overwhelmed mess. He remembered the Muggle story of the man who was so guilty that his heart was loud enough for other people to hear. Regulus thought that might be him too, feelings too strong to stay concealed when the entire reason he knew he was capable of falling in love was centimeters away from him.

“That’s you right there, right? With me?” James’ voice never failed to send shivers down his spine. He was pointing at him, literally, at Regulus. James was right, but Regulus felt too unsure of himself to respond. He was scared that every single thing he’s ever wanted to tell James would leak from his lips and take this moment away from him. 

At the lack of response, James tilted his head to face him. Regulus felt as if the sun was staring back at him, creating light just for them to be able to see each other. He couldn’t help himself as his heartbeat grew louder. If that would keep James’ warm gaze on him, then he wouldn’t truly mind his secret getting out, not when kind eyes were telling him everything was okay. 

With every single cell on his being paying attention to the boy in front of him, Regulus froze as James' hands shifted slowly from its resting place to where Regulus’ hand was. Tentatively, James’ fingers reached for Regulus’ hand. 

It was surprising, perhaps even endearing, to realize that even James Potter, seemingly flawless and perfect, had sweaty hands. Regulus couldn't help but smile at the realization, his lips curving upward as he squeezed James' hand in return.

Maybe, just maybe, he had nothing to worry about. Maybe he wasn’t just a bundle of flaws, not if James was still lying next to him, holding his hand.

"A little magic" a microfic for @neaverse, i love you

It was like magic. As the first bits of snow started to fall from the sky, Regulus found himself captivated by the sight. He wondered if the rain were the sky's normal tears and these were what happy tears looked like; snowflakes. Regulus was in awe, every single time. 

No amount of layers could prevent his nose from turning pink, but before the chill could fully settle in, he heard James' footsteps drawing nearer. Yet, he chose not to turn and face him. Ten years ago, Regulus had discovered that if he pretended to ignore James as he approached, he would be rewarded with the warmth of his embrace and a tender kiss on his shoulder.

“Hi, love,” James greeted him as he rested his cheek on top of Regulus' curls and squeezed him a little tighter. Regulus basked on James’ warmth. 

Regulus loved the snow, but his favorite piece of magic? James. Always James.
