Richard Long The Tide is High Closes 5th Jan 2019 @alancristea The steep mud banks of the River Avon have provided both the source material and inspiration for Richard Long's work since his youth. The Tide is High will feature a new series of prints based on drawings made from mud taken from the river in Bristol, the city where Long was born and continues to live. The new prints will be shown alongside the mud drawing studies and large carborundum relief prints from an earlier body of work. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 #NSThumbsUp for the @georgbaselitz exhibition, 'A Focus on the 1980s' @thaddaeusropac Closes 21st November Through paintings, sculptures and works on paper, Georg Baselitz: A Focus on the 1980s traces the artist’s shift towards a freer, more expressionist application of paint and use of colour, resulting in works of astonishing vigour and formal power. The exhibition presents seminal works from each of the series Baselitz developed during this decade – his Strandbilder [Beach Pictures], Orangenesser [Orange Eaters] and Trinker [Drinkers] - including works that have toured internationally but are yet to be exhibited in the UK, and those that will be shown for the first time since created in the 1980s. Baselitz has been painting his compositions upside down since the 1960s, a technique that continues to provoke today as much as when first introduced. #tbt the PV for Conor Harrington's current exhibition with Heni Publishing. HENI and Conor have presented 12 new works from the series 'The Story of Us and Them'. Harrington examines the concepts of tribalism and patriotism – highly relevant to today’s increasingly polarised society – through large-scale works in his signature style, combining baroque oil painting with a graffiti sensibility. The works are set against a background of a fictional nation state and feature two so-called ‘blind patriots’ engaged in combat. By using predominately red and blue in their apparel and the flags they brandish, Harrington draws on the various political and cultural connotations associated with this pairing to make a comment on society today.
