wait... can't alex manage both shows since he took recurring roles for both? I mean the schmico fanart and memes he posted shows he cares about the show and playing nico so I believe he might...
Mm, maybe. I'm not that well versed the industry side of Hollywood so I haven't actually got a clue, but it's possible.
He was live with a fan who commented that nico wouldn't be there for s17 and how they separeted the couple... and Jake went on with things like: well, we don't know that... what might happen... there's always the next season... I see 'ex boyfriend' and I'm like... uh... who knows... (he repeated "you know..." in such a way, smiling, and giving us hope. I'm surprised he even went there. But it seemed, for me, that he said that based on planning for s16 ending or table discussion for s17)
Um... Jake did a livestream a few days ago and gave some clues to the return of Nico and Schmico in season 17. That is something from the actor so I prefer to hold on to that (and better writing)
Did you hear about how Nico was only created as a filler character? He was written in as a vessel for Levi to come out and was supposed to stay on for long. Added to the fact that Alex Landi changed his instagram bio to "Dr. Nico Kim on Grey's Anatomy" to the Korean flag. I'm very worried that Alex won't be returning for season 17.
I’ll be honest - I’m not surprised. I wish I could say that I am, but I think everyone knew it was coming. Will definitely be interesting to see next season and if he returns at all.
listen... listen... if you have encountered a fandom space where people are hating on your favorite character... find yourself a fandom space where they are not! problem solved! I don't see character hate because I exist happily in my own wee bubble of good vibes only and if something tries to encroach on my bubble I ignore it.
People are not always going to like your favorite character or ship or actor or trope or story or fic or whatever else and that's only a problem when you let it control your own enjoyment of said thing.
so currently I’ve got 6 asks sitting in my inbox which all will remain unanswered and unpublished. I’ve decided to end this discourse (which I wasn’t really a part of anyway) and the one about roswell new mexico.
I’ll say one thing: I don’t know how many different people messaged me, because everyone was using anon. and it’s fine, I’m not going to turn off anon but next time, maybe include something like an emoji or a random letter at the end of your message because it gets really confusing.
be kind to each other, be kind to the characters.
we’re all in this together fandom so it’s important that we make it a fun and safe space for everyone.
okay so after I posted this I got two very contradicting asks
for the first (top) anon: I never said there wasn’t racism, it’s very very sad and disheartening that she gets hate for being black. those fans are not fans and let me tell you they are not welcome in the rnm fandom or any other fandom.
I’ll be honest, I don’t know much about the situation, how it was handled and the overall reaction of the fandom. all I know is what I saw in the episode and that an updated script was released after the backlash (I think??? I’m not too sure about this). as for the hate she got and Michael didn’t, don’t forget that once upon a time, Alex and Michael were a thing. now okay, they’re not together and Michael is with Maria so you could argue that invalidates the consent that once was given, but there was consent at some point in their relationship. that never really happened with Alex and Maria (sure there was the kiss when they were kids and Alex was saying (I think, I have the memory of a goldfish) that he thought he’d end up with Maria). it’s dubious at best
and this is the last i'm defending myself to some rando who doesn't know me but i'll say this i've seen actual racism involving characters in the roswell new mexico fandom. people hating on maria deluca because she's black and because she gets in between a m/m romance (one of the male characters is bisexual) so you got biphobia and racism colliding there. she gets hate and loads of it. nico is getting criticism, there's a difference
okay I’ll actually answer this because I do watch rnm **spoilers ahead**
from what I’ve seen (at least the few people I follow) their issue isn’t with the fact that she’s black, that she gets between Michael and Alex. earlier in the episode, Alex (who is openly gay in the tv show) said that he never felt comfortable with women in a sexual setting (paraphrasing but you get the gist of it) but then Maria kissed Alex without asking him and consent wasn’t really given
