Okay! Let's do this! Harvester time fellas! Get ready for a long post ahead!

For those not already aware, Harvester is an extremely gorey, albeit campy game. I'd advise that you understand the basics of it before delving any further into this post. Otherwise a lot of it isn't going to make any sense. This has heavy topics, such as homophobia, s3x, and more so please consider that before reading.

Harvester deals with you(or, the protagonist you play as) and another in game individual coming together. The bad ending comes when you decide to kill them, granting you freedom from the town of Harvest, at the cost of your morality, your soul even. The good ending is when you instead decide to marry this other person, but gain no freedom.

This AU, Blight, explores the idea of a third option. What if you played along, out of desperation to be free? A sort of middle ground. You'd rather do without killing the only other real person in this world, but you have a family and can only guess how many others might've had to make this choice once. You want your memories back, but are willing to hold on for dear life to who you are in the process.

Enter MJ.

MJ is a quietly gay man who ends up being subject to the whims of the Order of the Harvest Moon, and undergoes assimilation into a training program within virtual reality. Their end goal? To turn him into another one of the Order's serial killers. He's silent about the fact that he can't remember a thing, deciding to play along, going off of the belief that he's dreaming. There's well worn pickup trucks and jeeps everywhere, clearly it's stuff his brain recycled to put into a dream, right? He always wanted to save up for a jeep one day . . .

But then he meets Reva. Trapped up in her room, they both question the supposed reality that they're supposed to marry each other, but MJ is definitely scared stiff at Reva's sentiment that they are the only two real people here. Is this still a dream? (There is definitely some subtle hints that the reason why MJ became a part of this was for some indirect conversion therapy.)

The two become friends, finding comfort in each other and MJ tries to visit as much as he can. The two are desperate to wake up, wherever they are to the point where eventually they do get intimate with one another. Once. It's hard on MJ, and eventually he breaks down and comes out to Reva. Thankfully, it doesn't waiver their situational bond. The two will play pretend when faced with town residents, but unbeknownst to Harvest, it's solidified their friendship. They couldn't be further from a couple-to-be.

Which is why, after being so vulnerable with her, MJ is devastated when she supposedly dies. He'd have to be mad to try and look for her out of blind hope - but then again he would be fitting right in with the rest of Harvest. At last.

Up until this point, each deed, each desperate stunt pulled to join the Order or face possible death has been kept a secret from Reva. But when they are reunited and he lays the first blow, it's out there in the clear. He surprises himself when it happens, and he can see in her eyes that his dirty deeds are exposed.

He has to finish the job. Not because someone tells him to but again out of that blind faith. How rewarding it must be, how rewarding it HAS to be- after all this, to return to a family, a partner.

But unlike Steve, when he lays the final blow and is granted supposed salvation, MJ never gets his memories back. He is cleaned up, and plopped down onto some inconspicuous highway, and he can't remember a thing about who he used to be. Consider it a possible exchange, morality in place of connection and memory. He gets to say that somehow deep down he's a good person despite feeling like anything but.

And though he's done a good deal of pretending and playing along, he hasn't been impenetrable to the indoctrination. He's well aware of that, and this time has switched to denying it. His hands itch. His mind too. He begins to try and seek out the crops, even the seeds that this cult has planted, and crush them. However much time he has left before he completely loses himself he wants to put to good use, by trying to snuff out every single converted individual and every single cog in this disgusting machine.

He hopes he is caught. He wants to be caught. And not by the same people that started all this. If he doesn't succeed - and who could he tell that could change this from a simple one man plan to something greater? If he doesn't succeed, he wants to be caught. Maybe death is the best answer for him. That even if he killed, he did it on his say, doing something that he can only hope was for the greater good.

So that's Blight. I'm hoping to make art and design and develop the characters more but This is the final combination of what I've been brewing up. Hope you enjoyed.

I love piracy but I'd also like to make sure you guys know that it's only piracy if you actually download it. It's technically legal to visit Watch Free Online type sites, it's just illegal for *them* to host those files and share them around without paying. They can't get you for just Watching free online. Use firefox and adblockers etc but it's not a crime.
