Friendly reminder that fandoms rely on fan artists (artists, writers, editors, etc) and if you feel a fandom is dying? Those artists are most likely felling super under appreciated. Go show a fan artists some love today!
total drama fans be like “this show fucking sucks here’s my 982,452 word fanfic reimagining of the entire first three seasons that took me five years to meticulously plan and write”
there is nothing wrong with you for liking cartoons, comic books, cosplays, dolls, nickelodeon, cartoon network, superheros, disney, fanfiction, video games, drawing, basically anything that is label to be “kids stuff.” life is too damn short to be boring; who the hell wants to just be into things are acceptable by adult standards.
enjoy the things that make you happy, and if it’s something that people view as immature and childish you should not be ashamed. you are fine the way you are.
i honestly don't either, it's just that i see a lot of people such as reviewers that have a problem with the 2005 veruca character. i remember one guy called her "nice," and honestly that really astounded me. her being nice and sweet is simply just a mask.
why 2005 veruca is a decent depiction of the character
i honestly do not know if i am in the minority when i say this, but i really enjoyed julia winter's portrayal of veruca salt in the 2005 film. in most catcf adaptions i've seen, veruca is usually portrayed as loud and overtly aggressive, although in 2005 she seems to deviate from the "normal" veruca character that we've grown accustomed to. while veruca still has obvious anger issues in the 2005 film, it's not as obvious as in the 71 and or bway/west end adaptions. 2005 veruca isn't openly aggressive because simply most of the time she doesn't really need to act on that aggression. she knows that she's fully in control of father and she knows that it's not like him to deny any of her requests. the only time we ever see a really glimmer of her anger is when she has to wait for the things she wants for too long. this version of veruca is quieter, more calculating, and colder. although it may be jarring for some to see veruca go from an overtly annoying, self-entitled brat to someone that's more icy and direct, i thought that the personality change was frankly a sweet breath of fresh air for the catcf franchise as a whole. veruca is obviously emotionally distant from both her parents due to the fact that she was never conditioned with the proper love and care so i do think it makes a lot of sense as to why she turned out the way she did. i'm glad burton had decided to go a different route with the veruca character and didn't simply do a rehash of '71. so in all, 2005 veruca was just another depiction and was by no means a bad one.
