the death of 8tracks made you all so bad at making playlists i fear. good ship or character playlist is max 16 songs and devastatingly perfectly crushingly curated. it should make sense musically, if not across the playlist, then at least from song to song. GRADIENTS of genre. think about this before you make a 200 song ship playlist that includes both maroon 5 and mitski. Think on it

I will forever be annoyed the anti-Voice campaign relied so heavily on nonsense like "we don't want to let the government change the constitution without giving us an explanation as to how they're doing it." The exact wording was given to you months in advance. You knew exactly what you were voting on. "They wouldn't show us all the details in advance!" What details were you waiting on? The 500 pages of legislation you were never going to read and couldn't be finalised until after it had passed through an extensive and lengthy consultation process both inside and outside of Parliament thus altering it significantly from a draft legislation? Or did you want to read the heavily amended version in 10 years from now? Or 20? The thing keeping details from you wasn't Labor it was the fundamentals of linear time. It's an advisory body! We know how that works!
The No campaign relied on not just people's ignorance of the parliamentary process and the fundamental basics of the constitution and its function but also deliberately inflamed and twisted these gaps in people's knowledge into mistrust and disengagement with politics and parliament. It wasn't just an attack on Indigenous people (though overwhelmingly it was a racist attack) it was also an attack of democratic participation and understanding. The No campaign fed you the lie that information was being withheld from you when it wasn't. There was literally so much information available. The Coalition itself had written hundreds of pages on how the Voice would work! And yet! When it came to campaign for it they CHOSE to say "oh who knows? Complete mystery!" WHEN THAT'S NOT THE POINT OF REFERENDUMS. THEY'RE ABOUT THE CONSTITUTION - THE RULEBOOK FOR HOW LEGISLATION IS WRITTEN, NOT THE LEGISLATION ITSELF!
The No campaign has eroded people's understandings of the political system we live in. This has benefitted the conservatives in two ways: first, no Voice means no scrutiny on their terrible actions when they continue their disregard and discrimination against Indigenous people because there's no representative advisory body to push for better policy and two, a disengaged public that has come to expect for governments to act poorly and dishonestly will make them less shocked or motivated when the conservatives get into power and act as absolutely terribly as they paint their opponents to be or even worse.
The nation failed on October 14th. It fucking failed. It failed Indigenous people and it failed its year 10 fucking civics and citizenship test on the basics of how a parliamentary democracy works. I'm so disheartened that I will, for decades, here the same stupid bullshit about a lack of detail, or lack of this, or whatever, perpetuated endlessly by wrote like some nonsense line fed to them by a far-right think tank.
Congratulations to Peter Dutton, Clive Palmer, and Pauline Hanson, for doing such a good fucking job sewing fear, division, hate and ignorance. You excel at it.

“We know there are voices across the world calling for a ceasefire, but what everyone needs to understand is that the only people who stand to gain from halting the bombing campaign are people who deeply value human life,” President Biden said in an Oval Office address, adding that if Israel was not given time to collectively punish all 2.3 million people who live in Gaza, it would be a great victory for anyone who believes civilians are entitled to basic dignity and security for themselves and their families.
