Learning the Chain Letter of Positivity!
Who knew that Tumblr had such fantastic blogs about studying? I could have saved my friends and family so much “TMI,” by using Tumblr versus Facebook for my study group hubs.
That is the element that we all forget when it comes to teaching and learning. There is so much social gamification that creates efficacy in instruction.  Better put, when you have a support ‘study’ group, you are motivated to study.   It becomes who you at your essence.  You eat, sleep, and breathe school.
I take studying very seriously. For most of my life, I have been a student in various capacities.  As a Physician Assistant Studies Student, with my daughter right alongside, I used a skeleton from Halloween to learn the bones of the body.
After I shared this with a friend, @NicoleMoon, she capitalized on this and added rubber bands and string to the contraption, INGENIOUS!!
You never know how your idea will spur someone else to meet and exceed their own personal preferences and learning goals.  That is the utterly, beautiful part of both learning and teaching.  The magic comes when you create meaning.
This camaraderie is also the part I miss the most from teaching.  Truly secure teachers will throw open their doors and file cabinets and share their ideas like no body's business all in the contagious love of teaching students and staff.  My professor back in the day, Dr. Judy Herr, always said that teachers were wonderful little thieves. It is so true!  The eclectic style of both teaching and learning is priceless.
Here is a challenge, when someone shares an idea, share it with everyone you know! You never know if your idea is the one that will empower them past their own learning challenges.
Authentic learning comes from owning your preferences.  When someone has an idea, add a pinch of another, a dash of a third, then your own zest of awesomeness, and voila you just created one learning tool for your proverbial tool box.
I would love to know if you have further thoughts on how we can reform education to better mirror what research shows are best practices.  For more information on how you can dominate your school year visit: lulaedublog.org/awesomeness or follow us on Instagram. @Lulaeducate

We really are very lucky! @onelittlehippo began taking karate at the age of 4. She took it because @Dan Reis came into my class for a little girl who is now all grown, no doubt, @katelyn Larson. Lula was not born yet, but @Jodi Larson talked to me about the research behind Martial Arts for children's, particularly girls, self esteem. Yes, I researched every activity and its efficacy before enrolling. I know that may have been a bit neurotic. But, in my defense and the defense of all parents, all we want is the best for our children. I did not understand the sport until spending time talking with @Jodi Larson. Now in and Lula has taken for an entire year @ATAChicago It is great to watch her progress again. Miss Bella, @Tacobella, Miss Maya, plus Mr.Plotnick, Mr. Beck, & Mr. Wade, & Mr. Adler are all amazing unstructors!! Uma, William, Addison, Benjamin, Little Maya, Alex, Will, and all the awesome parents rock! Since Lula is kindly testing in two weeks, because they knew she was not ready, I wanted a creative way to work with Lula to keep her form enpoint, we seldom talk during the stretches. I asked Miss Maya to do the form and videoed it. Then I send a chunk to practice in a video. Chunking keeps it from becoming too complicated. Here is Saigon 5. If you are in Chicago and want your child to learn mindfulness and respect, while working towards the exciting goal of blackbelt, in a calming and yet rigorous manner, I highly recommend ATA Chicago! There is a location at Welles Park & Franklin Park! We were lucky enough to see @William Hoffman earn his Black Belt, and stayed for the candle ceremony. I cannot say enough about ATA Chicago!

"Teachers are Heroes - Its True!" @BetsyDeVosED @PoliticsK12 How can we put children first, and preparing them for the larger societal needs without accountability? Demoralizing the field of education impacts students. Privatization does not work. Isn't it time we take a page from countries that not only score better than us but who value education.

Well Said!
I simply could not agree with you more!  What a beautiful post!  How anyone can think that this inequality is not harming our nation’s youth is a fool.  What you have here is a sad and depressing outlook for humanity.  Not only do the actions of districts and institutions have immediate effects, but there are ever more far-reaching impacts. Such as the costs for services that students targeted by this latest barrage of hate will need.
When society comes to its senses, and one can only hope that is soon!  This debacle that we have left, will have cost so many so much, but at what goal? To protect people in a bathroom from their same gender identifying peers? That is absurd!  The mental health of students that are coming to understand and advocate for their own gender identity is fragile. The teenage years were difficult enough without policy concerns. We will need to re-educate everyone on the important responsibility all citizens have to children within public schools.
My heart breaks for any Transgender individual affected by this hate.  I fear it simply will continue,  I can only imagine the anxiety this must cause anyone who is thrust into a society where hate and bullying is an acceptable form of leading. That is what this is, bullying.  No person deserves this inhumane treatment, ever!
We stand with Gavin Grimm
Today Tumblr continues its involvement in the fight for transgender rights by signing an amicus brief, filed by the Human Rights Campaign, in the case of Gavin Grimm vs. Gloucester County School Board. We stand with Gavin and trans students across America in opposing the board’s decision to bar students from using restrooms corresponding to their gender identity, which violates both Title IX and basic human decency.
Trans youth are already at exceptionally higher risk of violence and trauma of all sorts. Schools must be safe places for the kids we send there, and some of those kids are trans. They deserve, as do all students and all people, to be protected equally by the institutions designed for them.
We’ve always fought, and will always fight, to protect marginalized people—and their rights to exist safely and express freely—both on our platform and off.
Here are some things you can do:
Show your support for equal access to public spaces by joining the #EveryoneWelcome campaign.
Support and share resources like The Trevor Project, which offer crisis intervention for trans people.
Stay informed and help educate others. An excellent place for news and educational resources is the National Center for Transgender Equality.
