I wonder if Finn had to wear special glasses to school (both under the sea and at NRC) at first so he can adjust because like- his home is not bright during the day like Atlantica is. It's almost pitch black. It definitely hurts his eyes and could potentially blind him. Someone asks him if he's wearing them to try be cool and he's just like "I will literally go blind you idiot"

gia exists only to suffer.

If Gia is scared of horror movies, are they scared of haunted mansions? Or they can stomach those?

Would they be scared of a giant isopod that is as big as a large dog for example? How about a spider crab?

gia's weird in that if you put a monster in front of them, they don't bat an eye. if it's friendly then it's cool, if it's not then it's getting a stone to the eye-- but there's not much of a fear response beyond the adrenaline of battle. and they don't have squeamishness for any animal.

but SEVENS forbid you take them to a scare attraction, they HAAAAATE it. the thing is most people can't tell. gia's startle response is to tense up and they get even quieter than they usually are. they be sweatin' but unless you're paying attention they don't look any different-- if just a bit paler than usual. if it's really bad then they're often mistaken for being sick. (this is why when gia first moved into ramshackle, the ghosts assume they don't find them scary. they did. they just sorta froze and it looked like they were unimpressed. )

it's truly horror movies they can't stomach. perhaps it's because all they can do is watch, there's no action they can do stop what's going on on-onscreen. and excessive gore makes them nauseous. it's just a bad time for them. they mainly pretend to be looking at the screen when ace and deuce drag them along to watch one.

but seriously all of that is trivial when compared to the gnawing terror of having to go back to their world

so the sketch from the prior ask is actually still a two-limbed gia, it's just they have a lot of like..leather and buckles that is in fact very steampunk inspired LEL that said, im more into steampunk

THIS is an adult!gia concept-- you can sorta see their prosthetic there, they lose their arm sometime in their early-to-mid twenties due to...reasons...

but it's a bit sleeker and im still trying to figure out the colors but im leaning towards perhaps a bronzeish overall color scheme. it was created by @cyanide-latte's wei renqiao alongside idia so it's actually a technomantic prosthetic. it has a ton of uses but tbh gia mainly uses it to quickly calculate formulas or get a scan on things. it does however have a beam people are really concerned about gia having

gia's partners will occasionally have to be like 'alright that's enough arm time 4 u' but floyd quickly realized that he should not be the one to say so bc then gia hits him with the 'taking my arm once wasn't enough?' and then ace bonks them over the head

Weird ask, but how would Gia classify in a dungeon crawler? Like, the healer, the brawler, the tank, etc etc….I hope I’m using those terms correctly

not a weird ask at all, i love ability breakdowns. i had to consult my buddy @tixdixl tho bc im not well-versed in things like this.

if we're talking jrpg then they'd fall into dps/damage per second. despite me throwing gia in scenarios where they're scrapping it out mano-a-mano with someone, when it comes to legitimate battle, gia excels at ranged combat due to their skill with a slingshot.

when they start dabbling in self-made magic however and create their first working version of the magestone slingshot gia uses in battle throughout freshman year, gia is able to small bits of damage constantly through casting "debuffs" so to speak.

early examples include an "insta-grow" potion that ensnares opponents in rapidly growing vines to slow movement (they use a kelp variation of this potion in book 3 against the leech brothers), itching powder, stink and tear seed bombs, and thorn shots.

if we're talking DnD though theyd fall into the ranger class.

at the end of their sophomore year tho they've successfully upgraded to the magestone slingSTAFF which packs a hell of a lot more wallop than their slingshot did. it casts actual spells instead of relying on little glass potion marbles.

(ive yet to fully land on a design for their ramshackle housewarden uniform, but its something along these lines.)

Inky Ribbons is basically me creating the angsty but sweet high school love story I'd daydream about back in middle school?? When I was like 13-14??

They're childhood friends who met at the shore of the ocean to play together, and then one day stopped sometime before middle school (the time Azul would start focusing on his studies/weight/magic) because Azul straight up stopped showing up.

The only thing lil Joves still had to remember him was a singular picture their mom had taken of the pair. Nothing but a small simple photo of the two kids, yet it held so much value and memories, that she kept it even now, carrying it with them wherever she goes.

Azul did come back tho, to the very same beach before going to NRC, feeling that maybe he could find his old friend again and show them how much he's changed

But when she never showed up like they used to, he realised how stupid he was to even think she'd be back, that it was dumb to assume they ever liked how he was back then. She probably didn't even remember him anymore, he thought.

Fast forward to NRC, Crowley intoduces an exchange student, that has come to study under special circumstances (he was paid well). Azul, though first tried to make himself look reliable by agreeing to specially assist the new exchange student, did not expect to be met with a familiar name.... then the sudden realization hit him, then he prayed to all the mighty great seven that she hadn't remembered or recognised him. He'd DIE if he had someone know how he was as a kid in NRC.

They became like....friendly acquaintances during the first year (aka friends but the use of the f-word is forbidden in NRC). She...knew it was him, or had like, a feeling, yknow. It didn't matter tho, they thought, since they re-made their relationship anyway (more accurately, built upon the one they had as kids).

She still has that picture, one Azul hadn't forgotten about but wished she had.

Skipping over the angst of book 3, for now, cause ummm.

They begin figuring shit out and actually TALK seriously for the first time after book 3, trying to understand their emotions and accept they've been crushing on each other like idiots for the past year and a half.

They get together around uhhh start of book 5 yeah, they clash and argue sometimes but they're both stubborn fucks and try their best for the other.

There's so much more to them but I can't make this insanely long LMAO

Would Gia love to go full mad scientist?

THEY BASICALLY ALREADY ARE TBH??? if you're unfortunate enough to look them in the eye long enough, you can see the spark of madness in them.

they've repurposed one of the rooms in ramshackle as a makeshift lab and another as an in-house plant nursery to have ingredients on hand. they're not above testing potions on themself-- for better or worse (they've walked around with a sprout growing out of the crown of their head before-- don't ask-- and they have a nasty habit of viewing personal injuries as opportunities for experimenting.)

they spend nearly all their free time crafting what is essentially a magic staff and are more than willing to jump into the thick of things to get some field testing.

one of my fav things they've unintentionally done is that they started an infestation of semi-sentient plants that latch onto and use people as puppets at one point. and it was a whole fiasco of them and @tixdixl's kingsley having to figure out how to stop it.

they also maybe....might be...growing firelotuses as an experiment after the events of glomas having snuck away a sample. but you can't prove anything come back with a warrant.

i'm also sorta playing with the idea of them accidently making a plant clone that winds up trying to take their place-- like gia really do be tying their own noose sometimes but its in the name of science...magic....magic-science.

it's a miracle they haven't killed themself yet really.

(if you notice a heavy emphasis on plants, it's because there's supposed to be one. it's not even that gia has a particular love for flora, it's that it was the most pragmatic choice in trying to become a self-made mage. they teach themself how to have a green thumb.)

Once you get close to Finn the cost is that once he starts rambling to you he will never shut up. Gia is now a victim of Finn's endless art rants. He's explaining his analysis of an art piece and Gia cannot escape

that's so cute tho.

gia would appear as if they're zoning out (which is like...maybe 30% true) but its mainly because it's a subject they're unfamiliar with and not something they have an interest in learning. however, they will remember what finn is saying even if they might not know what it means. if the subject comes up again, they can register the familiarity and attempt to show their interest by throwing an occasional question.

i can see gia inviting finn to check out an art museum exhibit if they hear of one. it's not their thing, but it's gia way of showing they keep people in mind.
