friendship should be consensual, it is not different from any other form of relationship
i often see folks declaring friendship from one side or deciding to define a relationship as friendship without asking the other party. that's not consensual. friendship needs to have both parties decide.

I feel like a black hole, always haunted by a deep and profound sadness. Dangerous and devilish. Taking, taking, taking, never giving. And all for what? A sliver of happiness that melts away like falling snow on a tongue, a single flake in a sea of tears?
I feel I was born inherently, immutably selfish. I don't want to take, take, take. But I don't know how to give! I have nothing to give! What do I give!?

(Ignoring my other nouns and pronouns,) I happen to be a mostly masculine-gendered person who uses gender-neutral(/ungendered) nouns and she/her pronouns.

thinking about “love” again + how it differs between eastern and western cultures
in the states where i live (and most of the eurocentric western world), “love” is used to mean a lot of things. romantic love, of course. also other forms of love, like platonic or familial. it’s also used as a word for “really like” or “enjoy” or really any little positive thing.
on the other hand, in china, it’s a little different. “to like” in mandarin is 喜欢 (xǐhuān). 喜 means happiness and 欢 means joy, so it literally just means “happiness-joy.” which is kinda cute.
“love” is 爱 (ài). we tend not to use this word as a verb as much, because we have a more actions-speak-louder-than-words approach to things. but it’s there. we use it to mean most of the same things that “love” is used for in the western world; but just much less casual and usually reserved for family, partners, or community. it’s kind of a sacred thing, not one to be thrown around.
however, i noticed that we don’t really use it in the place of “really like.” we would just say 很喜欢 (hěn xǐhuān), 很 meaning “very.” you’d get weird looks if you used 爱 (ài) to say you really like a song, or some other inanimate object.
(but sometimes you can get away with using it to say that you love to do something, like you love to watch [certain tv show] or love to eat [certain food]. still, 喜欢 tends to be more common here.)
that being said, we do use 喜欢 to mean “like” in a romantic context as well. if you have a crush on somebody, you’d say that you 喜欢 them. afaik, you would not say that you 爱 them just yet because that sounds too personal.
when giving compliments, we tend to… directly compliment the thing in question. in the western world we may say, “i like/love your hairstyle,” but in mandarin we would more likely say, “your hairstyle looks so good.” so it leaves 喜欢 and 爱 out of the question entirely.
(i can understand using 喜欢 in that context, but 爱 is usually not it.)
i also am not sure if there is a phrase for “in love” in mandarin. there probably is, but i believe it would be almost exclusively romantic and would certainly not be appropriate to use to mean “i’m in love with this song” etc.
not sure where this was supposed to be headed, but it’s interesting to see the differences.

( ◇ ) butch man flag
Tumblr media
[ ID: a flag with five (5) horizontal stripes, in the following colors: light blue, muted pastel teal, white, light pink and light magenta. /End ID ]
- definition: a flag for those who are both a butch and a man, or a guy, boy, etc. this includes all queer people and any experiences under that umbrella.
- disclaimer: i did not come up with this term, only the flag. butch men have existed in this community for a long time, and are very diverse.
- flag meaning: blue is for queer manhood and masculinity, white is for genderqueer, gender non-conforming and transgender people and pink is for queerness and the queer community.

Villainpunk / Evilpunk
Tumblr media
[image ID: the villainpunk/evilpunk flag. the flag is 7 stripes, and split down the center. on one side, the top stripe is dark green, the second stripe is lime green, the third stripe is black, the fourth stripe is white, the fifth stripe is black, the sixth stripe is light purple, and the seventh stripe is dark purple. on the other side of the flag, the same colors appear again, this time from the bottom up. in the center of the image, there is a black and white danger symbol, which is a thick black triangle filled with white, and has a black exclamation point inside it. end ID]
Villainpunk, also known as evilpunk, is a punk subculture dedicated to the reclamation of demonization, a rejection of the social norm of goodness, taking pride in identities that carry a stigma. It can be shortened to vilpunk.
I am a trans, nonbinary, aromantic allosexual, schizophrenic with ASPD (antisocial personality disorder). I also have CPTSD and am part of a traumagenic system. I have physical scarring from a chronic autoimmune disorder. I have "scary" disorders with "scary" symptoms, and because of this, I have been demonized and stigmatized my entire life. So I reclaim the idea of being the villain. I reclaim the idea of being evil, because if I'm going to be accused of being a bad person no matter how good I am, then I might as well lean into it.
This term does not endorse harmful behaviors nor does it encourage any unlawful, dangerous, or immoral actions, it simply just stands to say "if you're all going to make me out to be evil, then I don't want to be your idea of good." I think of it almost as the evil sibling of voidpunk.
This term was coined with those who have stigmatized mental and physical conditions primarily in mind (primarily psychotic people and those with personality disorders, especially my fellow cluster B people), but it can be used by any marginalized person who feels that they are demonized by society. I identify with this due to my schizophrenia, my ASPD, my CPTSD, my system, my visible scarring, my tics, my hallucinations, my delusions, my lack of empathy, my being aromantic and allosexual, my transness, so on and so forth. If you're marginalized and stigmatized, and this resonates with you, you're welcome to use it.
This term stands in loud and loving support of those who face stigma, so if you're mentally and/or physically abled, I do ask that you make sure you challenge any ableism you see in your life, and that you stand in support of other stigmatized identities. This is a punk term, and it isn't villainpunk of you to be a bigot.

[image ID: the villainpunk/evilpunk flag without the symbol. the flag is 7 stripes, and split down the center. on one side, the top stripe is dark green, the second stripe is lime green, the third stripe is black, the fourth stripe is white, the fifth stripe is black, the sixth stripe is light purple, and the seventh stripe is dark purple. on the other side of the flag, the same colors appear again, this time from the bottom up. end ID]
The flag(s) was chosen to be green and purple in reference to older Disney Villains, as their color schemes were often lime green and purple to designate evil. The caution symbol in the center is optional, but it was chosen to represent villainy due to its universally threatening nature.

fruit queer flag!! 🍏🍋🍊🍓🍇
[Plain text: fruit queer flag!! (green apple emoji) (lemon emoji) (orange/tangerine emoji) (strawberry emoji) (grape emoji). End PT.]
Tumblr media
[Image description: A flag with five equal horizontal stripes. From top to bottom, the colours are apple green, lemon yellow, tangerine orange, berry red, and plum purple. End ID.]
i wanted to make my own version of a queer pride flag! for anyone who identifies as queer, whether in regards to gender, sexual/romantic/other orientation, or other aspects of identity.
i made this for fun bc while i do like both the black/rainbow and purple chevron queer flags, i didn't feel like they truly represented my queerness. plus i wanted a pride flag that felt sour and summery - the theme of "fruit" encapsulates this.
flag stripe colours are obviously inspired by fruit, but also have separate meanings which are:
green = people whose only label is "queer"
yellow = queer people with other/multiple labels
orange = solidarity throughout the community
red = reclaiming of "queer" as a slur
purple = queer history tied to the colour purple
the use of fruit to describe this flag isn't inherently referencing the slur, although if you do reclaim "fruit" as a slur you're welcome to use this flag in that way.

As delightful as catboys and doggirls and dogboys and catgirls and everything in-between is... I'm glad they do not exist. Dogs and cats have enhanced senses of smell! Imagine a whole different genre of person who can determine if you're horny or menstruating just by smell. It would be dreadful to try and get around that.
