“Excuse me,”
He’s confused. Not familiar with the area. By now he’s already too late to show up for his lunch, and he’d have to send a text to his date. Apologize profusely for standing him up. Eryk would deal with that later. For now, if the frustrated man could find someplace decent to eat he’d be happy.
“My phone is getting shitty service, so I can’t look it up.
But, could you point me to the nearest sub sandwich place?”

“Every once in a while, sure, but y’gotta be careful. Don’t wanna
spoil yourself with too much, y’know? Y’ever heard of cavities?’
“Oh hun, I don’t think my sugar will give you cavities.”

Eryk’s only seen skin like his once long ago when he was just a child in a place he’d run from the first chance he got. Never in his life did he think he’d be seeing the boy, now man, again.Especially not while he was doing something simple like grocery shopping.
By now, surely the other would have noticed Eryk staring, but the blonde didn’t have the gut to walk over and ask if the stranger was ever in the system. It was easier if he was confronted about being rude to turn the conversation around.

He’s very much hung over and doesn’t have the patience to be dealing with a stupid teenager asking for a stupidly specific drink order when he has one of his own. And Eryk actually needs it if he wants to be able to make it to his lunch in a good mood. Can’t be upset when Daddy is around.
Of course, he stopped to think about the situation more when the kid pulled out a wallet that looked like it was stuffed with bills. Most likely just some rich kid. It’s not like Eryk was always paid in the bank, but usually he required it after the second date.
He was distracted and the barista had called for his attention probably a third time. Shit. Hopefully he hadn’t looked foolish. Eryk removed his sun glasses, looked the man across the counter and ordered a Venti Light Caramell Brulee with a shot of espresso. Like usual. After he whipped out one of his many cards he took a seat and waited for his drink to come among many.

“I’d say using flattery is cheating, but I like it too
much to actually complain about it.”
“How’s that? Because I’m just so sugary sweet about it? A little sugar
can’t hurt every once in a while, right?”

This is the race of someone who’s crazy and stupid because of love
Even if I extend my hand, the dream I’m in shatters
Even if I run like crazy, I’m only in the same place
Just take me, alright push me to the side more

Olivia’s eyebrow began to creep up as she listened to him talk. This was all news to her, and this guy certainly seemed to be a few more steps ahead of the subject than she was. Still, he seemed relatively harmless. He was certainly trying his best to appear charming, despite all the dirt and grime.
“Well, if you need help I’m happy to provide in any way I can,” she said. “Who’s this person who told me about you, though? And who are you, anyway?”
“Oh.. Um.. I didn’t catch his name. Should have asked...”
He turned to look over his shoulder, though it would really surprise him if he caught a glimpse of the tall brunette behind them. Eryk returned his gaze to the girl and shrugged. Casual. Calm. The world had just finished burning around them. And, Eryk was smiling.
“I’m Eryk. That’s all I can tell you about me, cause... well
honestly I don’t remember anything else. ‘t’s why I need
your help.”

“I guess that’s all I can really ask for. If I start to feel
gross I might share the rest with you.”
“Oh, now that’s sweet of you. I think I could cheat a little bit,
if it’s getting me a meal with a cutie.”

Olivia looked away from the cliffside, spinning around to face the stranger. It wasn’t quite snowing outside yet, but it probably would before nightfall–the snow from two days ago still clung to the path around them in heavy clumps. She hadn’t expected anyone to find her up here, least of all someone she’d never seen before. It had been a long time since she’d last seen a new face, and it took her a moment to remember that it was her turn to say something.
“You need help?” she said, hands finding their way to her trenchcoat pockets. “I mean, yes, I’m Olivia. How’d you know my name? And while we’re at it, who are you, anyway?”
Her tone took him off guard, and he took a quick step back from her form. Now that he was this close to her he was amazed. She was real. Alive.
Eryk let one of his hands reach up to hold the other arm’s bicep. With one hip popped, a smile slipped onto the teen’s features making his dark bags and dirt smeared face look a little brighter.
“The guy who told me about you gave me your name too.
Odd fellow. Little twitchy. But, he said to come to you and
that you’d know what to do with me.”
