The melancholic futility of sukekiyo song endings

After hearing "Kyou mo" (today again/today too) often at the end of sukekiyo's songs, I picked up a broader pattern in Kyo's lyrics for his second band. The recurring theme is that these mini-stories end in vain, sorrowful. Even the line that seems the most positive in the list above, "it's a beautiful morning again today", sounds filled with despair, envy for others who will get to enjoy that day, but within, it isn't so sunny. It's like an objective observation that you can't relate to.

You wish for love, you naively wish for better, but the past fades into the future unrelently. You poured your heart out, but nothing changes. You can't even forget: you're conscious during this continuous nightmare.

Anyway, I'll cheer you up with more positive content soon after this, but I wanted to share this interesting observation with you. Here is the list of lyrics and the songs that they were taken from, if you're curious:

Like Uroboros’ existential cries, here is a compilation of the chants in Phalaris, which I think are one of its defining features.

It's 2:18-long, but 畏畏 is the closet thing to ASMR we will ever get from Kyo and... wow. I don't know where he placed the microphone because it sounds like it is lodged deep within his throat right next to his Adam's apple.

Felt in the mood to post this, even if it's already my header photo.

I named it "LONGING" but it feels more like "TRAPPED"

...and of course it's not finished, because I forgot to add some shading for that gooey thing that's stuck to the hands, but I'm too lazy to find the original file and edit it. It's already been a year and I can't even remember what brushes I used.

I came to terms with the fact that this is probably what I'll be drawing for a while. New technique, new style, new experiment... yet again, the subject is Kyo (I just couldn't leave that peaceful expression alone).

Maaan, tumblr added a One Piece tab on the app changing it daily with another character, all my other socials are flooded with posts about Boruto, and most artists I see online draw in an anime style. All this makes me want to start reading manga again. Where do people read manga nowadays anyway?
