The thing with immortal is that there's so much potential angst you could do with them.
One favourite way of mine is to make them spiral. Have a character become increasingly consumed by madness as they lose the one thing that make them human: dying.
Adewulf, my original character, is a son of bitch. Rude, jaded, overwhelmingly obnoxious, and just not a good person overall. When you lived a couple centuries, great achievements and outstanding accomplishments just looks dull.
It's definitely immortal's depression and that's his starting point in the story. Above all, he's a very selfish person because why should he care? Knock some people down a couple pegs just because he felt like it.
That is pure disrespect and it all stems from immortal's depression, specifically the apathy part of an immortal's life.
His journey is about growth, to finally relearn how to live after life has given you it's harshest challenge. What starts with selfishness ends with selflessness, an completely circle to how Adewulf's journey to be human once more- because again, he lost the ability to die, the one thing that all human have in common.
Idk, very exciting for an original character.
