It Started with a Broken Necklace

Notes: Finch HC: he’s part Navajo. This can interpreted platonically or romantically if you wish. Characters: Finch, Dream, and Ink (mentioned)

It was a rather silent day at the JR castle. Ink was off on a mission, and Dream was doing his usual heaps of paperwork. A knock was heard from the outside of Dream’s office. “Come in.” The CEO said not looking up from his documents. Dream took a sip of his coffee as Finch walked in to report his latest mission. “Ah, Captain. I hope that it all went smoothly?” Dream said with a soft smile and a slightly perched eyebrow. “Yes, my lord. Zero casualties.” Finch bowed a bit out of habit. “Good, anything else to report?” The winged-man asked. “No, sir. Everything went according to plan. Your plan.” Finch made sure to empathize. Reminding Lord Dream that he was the reason of their success. “Yes, well, you carried out the tasks. I suppose we make a good team.” Dream replied, taking another sip of his coffee. Finch gave a little smile at that. “Thank you, my lord. If that’s all, am I dismissed?” Finch looked up, waiting for the taller man’s response. “Actually, I have one more thing.” Dream opened a drawer in his desk and pulled out a small envelope  with the captain’s name on it. He slid it towards him as Finch looked on in confusion. “May I ask what this is?” Finch inquired, doing a slight head tilt. “No, you may not,” Dream started with a playful smile. “however you may open it once you are off your shift.” Finch grabbed the envelope carefully. “Yes, sir. Thank you.” Finch racked his brain as to whatever could be inside. “Now, you are dismissed.”  Dream looked back down at his papers, ending the conversation. The captain nodded and turned on his way.

Later that evening, after Finch arrived home, he set his backpack down on his bed, and took out the envelope. He held it for a moment, wondering what could possibly be inside. What if it was a letter firing him? A letter sending him to a different division? Finch began to overthink the whole thing. He started to dread opening the envelope, worried about the details inside. Finally, he forced himself to open it. Inside was a neatly folded piece of paper and a necklace. This necklace happened to be the same one that broke three weeks ago, on a more serious mission. He was touched by the fact that Lord Dream would go out his way to fix it, not even thinking about how he even got his hands on the broken necklace in first place. He gently put the necklace to the side on his pillow. He opened the paper, which was a handwritten letter, most likely from the CEO himself. It read, “Dear Captain Finch, I hope you are happy with the contents of this envelope, considering how dear that necklace seemed to you. I see you wear everyday, and after seeing it broken on your desk, I felt I had to do something about it. So I took it to a repair store that a friend of mine runs. Do not worry about repaying me for this gesture, for it is one out of love. I hope it resembles how the necklace was before.

Finch smiled as he read the heartfelt message. He reached for the necklace and put it on. It now having double the meaning and value to him than it did before. He folded the letter, placed back in the envelope, and put in the drawer in his nightstand. He got up to shower and change out of his work clothes.

The next morning, Dream made himself a fresh cup of coffee before heading to his office. While on his way, he ran into the captain himself. “Hello and good morning to you, captain.” Dream smiled, bigger than he usually did. Finch greeted him back, trying not to blush. “Thank you. For the necklace.” Finch was never the best at expressing himself, but he had to try. Not only because Dream was his boss, but because he had kinder to Finch than anyone had ever been before. Finch smiled, failing terribly at hiding his blushing face. Dream responded simply with a “Of course.” And they went on their way. But Dream turned around and said in a tone quietly but loud enough for Finch to hear. “You mean a lot to me, and I couldn’t thank you enough for your service and friendship.” Finch smiled even bigger and nodded. But that nod told Dream more than words ever could.

OC Character Post #1 Part 2

Read world building post before this one! Things will be confusing if you don’t.

Backstory- 

Ash was born on the planet Aeon. She was born a gold Aeon (read Aeon World Building Post to understand) Her mother was a gold Aeon, so this was awaited. She was second in line for the throne after Smoke, her brother. Blaze forfeited her claim because she had no interest in it. Smoke became corrupt and obsessed with power, and he wanted the throne. The Queen did not give a flying flip about this. She hated responsibility of doing anything. She left the planet and let her child figure it out. Ash, however was powerful and old enough to be an obstacle to Smoke’s crown. So, he made a deal with her. If she left Aeon, he would make sure he ruled fairly and would bring no harm to the people. Therefore, she agreed to because she believed in her brother to do the right thing. She loves him and trusted him, however she had to cut off all communication with her home planet, so she had no idea what happened or that he broke his promise. She found Earth, a lovely planet with seemingly lovely people. And upon arrival, she met resistance. Fitting in was a lot harder than she thought. She was chased away from several towns and villages. Therefore, taking on a new appearance and name. One in the language of these earth people. Upon moving on to the next town, she meets Dream. He was there stopping a trafficking scheme ran by the whole town. He chased her down thinking she was part of the scheme. Ultimately she was curious and let herself get caught. She explained her story and situation, and Dream being the person he is, allowed her to remain in the castle for however long she needed. A few soldiers got hurt after this mission, and she healed them quickly, proving her skill as a healer. He prompted her to apply for a doctor position in the JRs medical division. After a couple months studying about the human body (she found wasn’t so different from an Aeons), she was ready to take the test. And with her compassion, healing skill, and expertise she passed with flying colors. Soon becoming the lead doctor for many, many years to come. (She’s been working there for 20ish years up to Dreamswap present. Also she came to Earth 20 years after Ani’s death, so 

Dream was a 100ish years old) 

Powers-

So, I mentioned her magic is pink and she heals with it. This is one of its many uses. She only uses to heal for now because she doesn’t have very good control over the other types. Also she can fly :) when needed, she usually just walks like everyone else to avoid unnecessary attention. Her magic is like elemental. She will be able to basically use it like water, fire, and ice. The properties of her magic can change to suite what she wants it to do but she doesn’t know how to control that. She is working on bettering it but that’ll be shown in her arc. Depending on what form of magic she uses, her movement and form will be different. (think of it like bending forms like ATLA) Her powers get a boost when she’s a) on her planet or b) harnessing her royal side. Which I’d love to show but I can’t draw very well. ( I’ll try to make effective portraits of my characters, but I might just commission)

Aeon World Building Post #1

Aeon- their native language based on Latin / Aeonese

They are called the aeon people or aeons 

Hence the name they live like a very long time naturally, unless otherwise killed or died from disease stuff like that

They can change the way they look to adapt to a different species if said species has two arms, legs (basic human looking body) 

Monarchy - Royal Family - Queen Ignis and her 4 kids (Ash is one of them)  

Eldest to Youngest: 

Blaze - Fraglantia - Red Aeon

Smoke - Fumo - White Aeon

Ash - Fraxinus - Gold Aeon

Eclipse - Delinquio (😉) - Purple Aeon

The queen doesn’t really care about her people nor her planet, Smoke takes over, it becomes a dictatorship. This happened after Ash left. 

Blaze is commander of their troops. Royal Guard. 

Eclipse is the silly one, youngest she’s still in her hundreds which is considered a child/tween in their planet. Smoke doesn’t hurt her but she doesn’t agree with what’s he’s doing. Nothing she can do, or that’s what she thinks.

(There will be more on them once I start the ash arc but that’ll be a whileeee)

People are oppressed, they don’t know who to blame. So they blame smoke, but they hate ash because she got out before it all went to crap. They don’t know what happened to the Queen but they suspect Smoke killed her for the throne. They still worship and praise the queen thinking she’s gone, this angers Smoke.

Also the powers of the people are strongest in the royal family. The normal citizens still have powers but it’s usually heat resistance, healing, and extreme strength, some can fly. Sometimes there’ll be a unique kid that has more. It’s pretty rare though. 

They have cities all over the planet, the plant is 40% water and 60% land, their planet is extremely hot. They have some

modern technology, such as kitchens, bright lights, and TVs/Phones. A lot of them still keep a rather traditional lifestyle. A lot of bakers, farmers, healers, and warriors. There are scientists, more formal doctors, but they live closer to the royal castle.

The First Fire burns all over the castle. Which is fire made from the first aeon who became the first king. It’s extremely important to the aeons culture and connection to their ancestors. As long as this fire burns, the aeons are promised life, strength and their powers.

There are four types of aeons the red majority, white which is still common, the rare and royal gold (only royal family is known to have be able to be born gold), and the purple minority. You can imagine the purple type has seen some oppression and violence.

I feel like she’d be very underestimated because of her soft and gentle appearance but she’s very physical strong and healthy. Her people have different bodies and they work differently than a human’s would.

Snakes; she can’t wrap her head around how Finch likes them so much.
