I don't think fans expect to get to pick Taylor's partner or have a say in her dating life but when somebody has put a lot of effort into saying I want to stand for something greater and use my cause for good and also wants to be considered an outspoken feminist and ally to liberal causes (which Taylor does) and then turns around and dates a man who jokes about jerking off to black women being brutally abused there's a conflict there ���🏼‍♀️ and I think it's fair for fans to say this isn't who I thought this person was I'm upset and disappointed. I also think people are becoming increasingly disillusioned as more and more bad bigoted shit Matty has done comes out and Taylor is still very publicly being associated with this man. There's simply NO way her team didn't see the buzzfeed article detailing every horrible thing he's done and an hour later Tree drops an article about Matty and Scott (presumably to help bury the buzzfeed article) to people and a few days later Taylor's on his arm. It's gross and fans are allowed to say it's fucking gross

also one thing that’s been bugging me is that taylor associating with matty healy goes so specifically against her brand of feminism that she has tapped into since 2014, which is the whole Women Supporting Women™️ mantra. like, her thing for years has been about trying to uplift other women in the industry and call out the manufactured cattiness.. but just a few months ago, her man called ice spice a dumb bitch on that podcast and made disparaging remarks about her appearance. and considering she plays ice spice’s song before going on stage, it seems, idk, insulting to then go date that guy. we all know how taylor feels about women being referred to as bitches especially by men (see: look what you made me do) and that she has no problem calling out what she sees as misogyny happening to her (see: her tweet to damon albarn & her ginny and georgia tweet). imagine if matty had referred to taylor as a dumb bitch on that podcast instead and made remarks about her weight, we KNOW she would’ve hit back immediately. but it’s fuck other women i guess

i know this whole m/tty thing will soon be mostly forgotten by the fandom but i personally will be unable to forget, to me this is one of the sketchiest things she’s done and it makes me question if she meant anything she’s ever said about feminism & racism. and i hate that some of u were in my inbox last night asking me why i’m still here and reblogging edits when.. this is not an easy thing to feel, i HATE that my perception of her has changed. but i literally can’t sweep this under the rug and at least im not staying silent like some people are 🤷‍♀️

Good news, Missouri has terminated its ban on gender affirming care for adults due to the fact that they did not feel confident they could defend it in court. I think that's a pretty good sign.

The youth ban is still in effect, but as Erin Reed says in this tweet now attorneys don't have to split their resources and just tackle the youth ban.

personally I'm upset because it's not just matty to this point. practically all her friends are like this... she keeps associating herself with people like lena dunham, camila cabello, brandon urie or todrick hall, as well as taking part in horrible projects like wrcs or amsterdam... it's easy to try to move pass one or pray that she didn't know about it, but there's no way she's clueless to all of those. so you end up collecting all the dots and thinking that the only one who's being stupidly naive here is you

that makes sense. i think @heystephen said it better than i could in this post but taylor very much thinks criticism from the general public is never warranted & unfair just because it was for her in 2016. so honestly if mh were to say “the internet hates me” she might be like “omg trauma bonding!” and won’t take it seriously. and that’s one of her biggest flaws imo, that she doesn’t take criticism seriously. to her it’s all internet hate & she can’t see that a lot of times it is constructive and is from her fans asking her to do better. and of course if she hadn’t been so clear in MA and 2019 in general that she wants to be outspoken about important issues, we probably wouldn’t be quite so vocal. but she did do that! & her personal life has not reflected any kind of change for the better. who you surround yourself with is who you are, it’s that simple.

i keep wanting to say “don’t forget she dropped todrick when everything came out about him!” but like. there are so many other examples that you’ve listed. so all of those are still real! (& who knows, maybe she just ditched him because she found out he was being racist in her name, and not because of the far worse rape allegations!)

i honestly think your final sentence is how i’m feeling right now: very stupid. i keep thinking “well i know her, she wouldn’t associate with him if she knew” but why do i think i know her? she’s a stranger to me. & even after they breakup (god i hope it’s soon), i will never be able to fully reconcile with the fact that she was with him. dunno if you saw but the other day i had a dream taylor posted a public apology for dating him & then tried to sue him. & apologizing for it is the only thing that would make this disappear from my brain. but she’ll never do that and it’s silly for me to entertain that as an idea.

in conclusion, yes. i feel stupid too.
