It's time to kick off our January book selection!
I'm not quite done with December's book, but hope to finish it in the next couple of days. This is a zero-pressure book group and all the previous books and discussions live on in the "past books" area. I look forward to reading your reflections once I finish up The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store.
Let the 2024 reading begin!

August Participation Award stickers have been mailed out to everyone that preordered them and the extras are list in the shop if you want to snag one.
That means preorders for September’s Participation Award stickers are open!!! Did you read Black Cake? Are you currently reading Black Cake? Do you plan on reading Black Cake? Get yourself a sticker! It’s no personal pan pizza, but Mrs. R always gave us “stickahs” in middle school Reading Class so you can still relive those day. 🤣
Order from the shop on www.SharpPointySticks.com

Zipped through the end of this so I can start Black Cake (September Book Pick). The pace really picked up at the end. I need to digest this one a bit but will probably continue on with the series!

September’s Book Selection
“We can’t choose what we inherit. But can we choose who we become?"
The poll results are in and for September we will be reading Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson. It was nominated on Goodreads for both best historical fiction and best debut novel in 2022 so I'm looking forward to diving in.
There's still some time left in August, but we will kick off September 1st with our new book. Don't forget, if you would like an August Participation Award Sticker for the book Sea of Tranquility I am accepting pre-orders until Aug 31st.

Who are you calling a maniac?! 🤪
Knitters of tumblr! Behold, a poll about fucking up!
Suppose you've discovered that you missed a couple of increases or a couple of decreases several rows back (so fixing it with a crochet hook will definitely result in wonky tension). Maybe it's even propagated over further rows.
I have a regrettable tendency to go with the "some kind of maniac" option (though, it usually works out for me, so maybe it's not that regrettable.)
Notes on terminology: A lifeline is a piece of yarn/string/thread in a contrasting color to your project that is threaded through the stitches so that you can frog part of your project without the whole thing unraveling.
Tinking is the inverse of knitting (un-knitting one stitch at a time back onto the needles.)
Frogging is when you take the work off the needles and just unravel by pulling on the yarn.

Finally revisiting this book. I had started it years ago and then got distracted and didn’t get very far. I have some time before we start September’s book club selection so I am picking it back up!
What’s everyone else reading right now?
