@escapedaudios After some consideration, I decided to entirely rework the art of Alfonso in the old uniform. I was thinking maybe every slayer below the rank of silver swords have plain white lapels instead of satin-y silver. Also saw a post that it could be used for a possible video and I was like WHAAAAAA???!!!!!??!!?!?!!?!?!!?!?!?!?

Found out about non-listener OCs and decided to give it a try. So here is Lisette, a 24 year old Parisian tailor (as of 2007). Several years prior, she was a former fashion design student who was held captive by a Vox Odium as an unwilling thrall. After she was freed by slayers, she worked briefly with the sister guild in France until relocating to Spain due to another vampire-related incident.

“Oh, these paintings? They’re the Silver Swords. It’s the highest combat rank a slayer can have.”

Hugo wearing what Silver Swords might wear in their paintings and also for important meetings. When I heard this line, my mind immediately went to “18th century aristocratic hunting portraits” which seemed fitting.

So my headcanon/theory is that when slayers became Silver Swords, their clothes used to be altered with silver material to signify their rank, hence the embroidery, inner coat lining, and trim. As time went on and trends changed in favor of simpler styles, silver was omitted from newer versions regardless of rank. While the old design was retired from use during missions, the custom still remains.
