Sociopath Profile: Live-Action William Afton
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aliases: Steve Raglan, Yellow Rabbit, Spring Bonnie From the 2023 film Five Nights at Freddy's Played by Matthew Lillard
The affable Steve Raglan who offers Mike Schmidt a new job turns out to be the notorious child murderer William Afton. I don't feel too bad spoiling this one because of all the pre-release buzz around his appearance. And much like the games of original games, he is truly a monstrous psychopath who only lives for the suffering of others. However, beyond his more well-known infanticidal crimes, the plot of the film portrays more acts further proving his condition.
[SPOILERS BELOW]
For starters, Vanessa is his daughter and it is implied that she was abused by him to keep her quiet about his crimes. He further manipulated her in the present to keep Mike from getting to the truth of his missing brother Garrett That truth being that Afton is the one who took him. And as a show of his lack of remorse, Vanessa is pictured with the toy airplane that Garrett was playing with when he went missing.
He's good at his superficial charm as he comes off as reasonable career counselor as the man willing to help Mike get a job. And the moment he has an opportunity to get him killed by the animatronics, he starts selling this job like an old buddy trying to get him off the ground. He also needed to be able to be charming enough of an entertainer to allow children to trust him.
But it is superficial. His true colors show in the climax as the genuinely unhinged murderer that he is. He shows how much of an ego he has when he tries to control the animatronics and gets enraged when the protagonists turn them against him. When he has control, he's smug and self-assured, lording his believed superiority over everyone around. Both Mike for trying to go against him and find out about his brother, and those he tries to manipulate.
He knows how to manipulate people. He uses the innocuous Spring Bonnie disguise to lead children away. And after stuffing them in the suits, he pretends to be their friends instead of the man who ended their lives to have control over the machines to get more victims. He also manipulates Vanessa into not helping Mike and making sure the animatronics kill him, making sure he doesn't look into Garrett's disappearance.
Again, he completely lacks remorse for anything he's done. He sees no problem with turning on his daughter when she defies him. He doesn't hesitate to strangle and stab her in an attempt to murder her for her insubordination. When he is finally trapped in the springlock suit, he proudly declares "I ALWAYS COME BACK!" while dying in horrible agony. (And for those who know the games, that's not an empty threat.)

Sociopath Profile: Vanessa Hysel
Tumblr media
From Alfyn's Route From the 2018 video game Octopath Traveler
Vanessa isn't exactly the worst person in the game, but she still displays several traits of sociopathy. Being an unscrupulous merchant and con-woman, she manages to give Alfyn a bit of trouble along his path.
She is a fellow apothecary who makes her money from poisoning the town of Goldshore and using it as a way to sell the cures for exorbitant prices. This shows how she sees others as nothing more than sources of profit. The health of people doesn't matter to her like Alfyn. No matter what, she doesn't care about the fact that people could die because of these schemes.
Alfyn: Doesn't it make you feel anything to see people suffer? Vanessa: Should it? The ailing, the injured... They're tools to an end. Just like the little kittens I test my tonics on.
And Vanessa can't be a con merchant without being able to manipulate people. It's the reason she refuses to teach people about these cures. It makes it easy for her to both believe her when she lies about how she can help them and to make sure they are dependent on only her as the expert doctor.
"What do layfolk know of illnesses and their cures? Nothing—that's what makes this job so easy."
It's all for the sake of profit. She wants to get everything she desires with all the leaves she can collect. No one else matters other than her. She doesn't care about the suffering of others as long as it gains her the money she desires. She laughs in the face of Alfyn's altruism and bemoans him for caring about helping people.
Overall, she doesn't regret anything she has done. She eventually turns over a new leaf and can even be recruited into Alfyn's party, but she still sells her medicines at exorbitant prices. She shows that even when she's above board, her self-profit is her main concern.

Sociopath Traveler (Part 2)
After the first game, the 2023 sequel Octopath Traveler II and the 2020 spinoff Champions of the Continent provided a few more sociopaths to the roster. Not nearly as many as in the first game, but they were still incredibly notable.

The first Octopath Traveler game released in 2018 provided a lot of sociopaths on its own, enough to make a list in and of itself. The eight travelers have to come across plenty of antagonists, and these ones showed the most antisocial traits.

So it seems that Octopath Traveler will be the list I'll be making. I'll be honest and say I didn't expect it to win, but it is a pleasant surprise. I'll be starting on this by next week.
As promised, I was going to list off a few franchises that I think would be good to work with. I have the following franchises' sociopaths laid out and ready to write up a list if you're seeing this post and will be ready to go as soon as the winner is chosen.
Keep in mind that if you want to suggest another option, there have to be at least 6 potential candidates for me to go for it. And I do reserve the right to disregard them at my discretion.
In the meantime, I'll just be getting to some new profiles hopefully, and uploading older ones from my main blog.
But wait, why are you making another list if you have so many unfinished- DO NOT QUESTION MY METHODS!

Sociopath Profile: MCU High Evolutionary
Tumblr media
From the 2023 film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Played by Chukwudi Iwuji
Iwuji outright described the High Evolutionary as sociopathic and narcissistic. And after watching the film, he was not wrong. As Rocket's creator, he shows an absolute indifference to the suffering he causes all for the sake of advancing his goal of a perfect universe.
[SPOILERS BELOW]
His ego being completely off the charts is something that is abundantly clear whenever there is something that challenges it. He's so peeved at the idea that Rocket was able to fix the problem with Batch 90 that the High Evolutionary couldn't that he went on a massive tantrum about it while failing to reconcile the idea that someone was smarter than him. Not to mention the fact that he does everything he can to create what he thinks is the perfect society. Any opposition he receives will be met with extreme anger.
"There is no god! That's why I stepped in!"
In conjunction with that, it provides him with an extreme pettiness problem as well. The High Evolutionary will do everything he can to make sure that people know that he is the smartest and most important person in the room. About fixing the aggression issue, he looks like he's having a severe panic attack because someone figured out something he couldn't.
And I think we can be upfront with him having a complete lack of empathy for those around him. He doesn't care about the horrific experiments he puts creatures through in order to make them perfect in his eyes. He has razed entire civilizations because they didn't live up to his standards without a shred of remorse and will dispose of entire batches of test subjects when they aren't useful anymore. Not to mention that insubordination can be met with lethal behavior. He kills Lila in front of Rocket after knowing he would attempt to escape and his reaction to Rocket's sorrowful cries is to mock him for it out of annoyance.
It's all for his selfish idea of what he wants out of his experiments. He won't listen to anyone when they tell him that what he is doing is ludicrous. Especially when his obsession with capturing Rocket becomes to his detriment. The most telling thing is that he doesn't care about the well-being of his tests when they don't live up to his standards. His experiments serve no benefit to anyone other than him. Of all the things he does, none of it has any true purpose.
"You didn't wanna make things perfect... you just hated things the way they are." - Rocket
He does know to appear cordial when he wants. When he was showing Rocket Counter-Earth, he actually came off like a loving parent and not the heartless butcher that he is. When discussing things with Star-Lord for the first time, he is calm and polite to him even when Peter becomes increasingly hostile about it. He's also extremely nonchalant about the fact neither Rocket nor his friends will be on Counter-Earth.
And despite his status as a scientist (allegedly), he has a surprising lack of emotional control. He is prone to fits of rage when he doesn't get what he wants and that can result in some horrific acts of violence. It also causes some impulsivity when things go too far out of his control. His attempts to capture Rocket to the detriment of his ship and his resources show he doesn't exactly have the best skills for long-term planning.

Sociopath Profile: MCU Kang the Conquerer
Tumblr media
Real name: Nathaniel Richards Kang Variant: The Exiled One From the 2023 film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Played by Jonathan Majors* *Please don't start anything on this post. I'm aware of the allegations against the actor, but I'm just talking about the character.*
This variant of Kang is significantly more sinister than "He Who Remains" and the other Kang variants.
[SPOILERS BELOW]
The man has a grandiose sense of self-worth that manifests in his deep desire to conquer all universes he can find and kill everyone who stands in his way. He builds himself an empire in the Quantum Realm and intends to extend his grasp to other universes in the multiverse. The reason the other Kangs wanted him under control is because he would stop at nothing to be the best of them all and is willing to kill as many of the other variants as possible to do it.
He shows signs of having a lack of empathy, but he is still not without it. He shows sympathy for Janet's desire to reunite with her family when Janet was trapped there the first time. However, his conquest is what matters to him above all else. He shows no mercy to his enemies and will even torture his allies as shown with MODOK. He understands empathy well enough. Just enough to use it for manipulating others since he knows that he can use Cassie as leverage over Scott.
Janet: You'd be wiping out entire timelines, murdering trillions of people! Kang: I wish that mattered, Janet.
Not to mention the fact that Kang continues to show a sadistic side since he has quite the lust for battle. He has no problem getting his hands bloody to get that. When the rebels are able to breach his defenses, he takes the initiative to personally slaughter everyone who comes in his path. He gets sadistic in personal ways as well with his penchant for torturing others.
"Let me make this easy for you. You will bring me what I need. Or, I will kill your daughter in front of you. Then, make you relive that moment. Over and over again, in time, endlessly. Until you beg me to kill you."
Despite this violent personality, he is capable of civility. He can hide his true ruthlessness from Janet for years while helping him fix his ship. They formed quite a rapport before she looked into his mind and saw the horrors he committed. When talking to Scott and Cassie, he's rather calm and reasonable just before deciding to torture Cassie to get Scott to cooperate. Even Jane's old ally Krylar is convinced to join his empire and sell out Janet, Hank, and Hope.
"You know how persuasive he can be." - Krylar
There is no remorse that Kang has. He knows how much destruction he will cause with his conquests will cause and he doesn't care. He just wants to be the only person able to conquer everything with no one in his way. Not even himself.

Sociopath Profile: MCU Thanos
Tumblr media
Appearances: The Avengers (2012, cameo), Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2014, cameo), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019) Played by: Josh Brolin, Sean Gunn (motion capture), Damian Poirtier (2012)
While he isn’t exactly the perfect example of sociopathy with his genuinely good intentions and sympathetic characterization, there is no doubt made that what he is doing is absolutely ruthless. The Russo brothers described him as a “benevolent sociopath” and I can see that interpretation quite well while looking over his character once more.
[SPOILERS BELOW]
While he does have some empathy in the fact that he’s trying to help save the universe from itself, his methods come across as absolutely callous in nature. He plans mass genocide on a universal scale simply to help with the dwindling resources. He spent years searching for the Infinity Stones to finally achieve this and spent years slaughtering and conquesting to do it. All because he thought it would be helpful. He claims that it must be indifferent slaughter to be equal and balanced, but that also shows more of his callousness.
As you might imagine, anyone with a more sound mind might have thought of just maybe making more resources with the snap. However, this reflects another issue of his: his pride. He’s so convinced that he’s right about his plan after what happened on Titan that he cannot be swayed. He says that when he succeeds, he will watch the sun rise over a grateful universe. Even when his 2014 self comes to the present in Endgame and sees that people are still trying to fight, he deduces that the issue is that nobody is grateful as long as they know what is lost, so he decides to wipe out all life instead and restart from the ground up. It may seem that he just wanted to give an “I told you so” to the people of Titan for not listening to him and proving himself right.
This moves to another one of Thanos’ symptoms, his inability to accept blame. He does have some regrets for all the slaughter, but he believes it was all necessary to help the universe. This is his way of rationalizing his terrible actions. Convincing himself that he is doing the right thing. When people inevitably have a problem with what he does, he thinks that they’re ungrateful and not that he’s a borderline lunatic for thinking of such an idea.
It is exactly why he is able to do whatever it takes to achieve that goal. He has no limits as to what he will do to ensure that his plan gets accomplished. While it is clear that the morality issue still has him plagued, he believes he is the only one with the will to see it through. What he fails to realize is that he’s the only one with the warped mindset to think of it in the first place.
He does have superficial charm and manipulative talents considering that he has so many followers working for him. Then again, the fact that many of them have tried to kill him or stab him in the back in some way might show that he’s not as good at it as he thinks he is. Nonetheless, he still doesn’t come off like the lunatic that everyone paints him as. The Mad Titan surely is mad in his beliefs and behavior, but not in his tone. He speaks calmly and rationally, but this may also be a sign of how warped his mindset is. He speaks calmly because he sees very little issue with what he does.
Above all, even after we see him taking a peaceful retirement, even destroying the stones to ensure he doesn’t use them again, he is still fully convinced that he did the right thing. Thanos does not waver in his convictions even a little bit. He does show some remorse for treating Nebula too harshly just before Thor lobs his head off, but that only comes after she commends his honesty, something that might just be feeding his ego. And his 2014 counterpart in Endgame shows that he never saw his years of mass-murder as personal, but said to Cap that he’d enjoy destroying his “stubborn, annoying little planet” for trying to undo his so-called good work.
While his heart may be in the right place, his mind definitely is not.

Sociopath Profile: Odalia Blight
Tumblr media
From the animated television series The Owl House (2020-2023) Voiced by Rachel MacFarlane
One of these days, I’ll actually make a profile about one of these mothers that is actually a decent person. I mean, I don’t think it’s impossible. However, Odalia fits into the pattern of substandard parenting that is rather common whenever I talk about mothers in terms of female sociopaths.
[SPOILERS BELOW; SPOILER-FREE VERSION HERE]
The most notable aspect is how controlling she is of her children. She only cares about how they affect her social standing and her bottom line. Danna Terrance mentioned that she specifically had Amity dye her hair green so that her children can be color coordinated. She and Alador force Amity to be friends with Boscha, not caring about how she feels about her. Notably, when she doesn’t have control over a situation, she will lash out.
She is also very manipulative. She obviously lords her daughter’s potential status within a coven as the reason she needs to study so hard and to be around people she and Alador deem worthy. Odalia also has a jewel that telepathically connects to her daughter so she can subtly influence her without anyone around them noticing it. Later in the second episode of Season 2, she manipulates Luz into a deal to get her, Gus, and Willow back into Hexide by tricking her into being the guinea pig for her weapons demonstration.
The lack of empathy should be obvious since she only views her children as tools for her own status. The fact that she also shamelessly sells weapons to the highest bidder also displays how little she cares about the lives affected by her business. She even starts to work for Emperor Belos after he notices that the Blights have enough arms for a personal militia. There’s also the biggest point that she was willing to murder Luz just for being a distraction to Amity.
And there is a considerable lack of remorse for her actions. She gleefully has Luz attacked by Alador’s newest abomination and will continually lord her superiority over Amity as smugly as possible. She was even willing to back out of Luz’s deal when Amity defies her to save Luz. Odalia rants about wanting to get back at her even though she used the “A Blight never goes back on a deal” creed against Luz.
Notably, she can be convinced to do things if they benefit her. Alador is able to talk her down from her revenge tirade by reminding her of that creed and telling her that her friends are making her stronger with her magic. They may not understand why that is, but it is something that helps her get into a coven faster, so she’ll be willing to deal with it.
And the main bulk of this profile was written before it was revealed that she was a knowing accessory to genocide! Turns out the Day of Unity was Belos' plan to destroy the witches and she was providing him with resources the whole time while fully knowing that is exactly what he was planning. When Amity and her friends tell her what it really means, her response amounts to, "No duh! But I cut a deal that'll make the family rich, so we're all good." I don't think anything can really convince you what she's about more than that. Self-profit above all else.

Sociopath Profile: Loni Stane
Tumblr media
From the comic book series Ultimate Iron Man (2005-2008)
Loni is one ruthless woman. She is the mother of Obadiah and helped to push him into villainy along with his father Zebediah. She exemplifies several sociopathic symptoms in the series and never shows any sort of shame about how she acts.
[SPOILERS BELOW]
She constantly manipulates and lies to people to advance her own agenda. She entered marriage to Howard to have a business relationship with him while still seeing Zebediah, plotting with him behind his back. After having Obadiah, she tried to raise him to be a sociopath like her. She also tries to hurt people’s loved ones to get them to do what she wants. Loni shot Howard non-fatally when Tony comes for her and threatens to kill him if he doesn’t comply. She can also do this on a larger scale. She engineers several terrorist attacks to gain the Iron Man armor.
Her lack of empathy is shown by how easily she discards people and kills others just for her own gain. While she acts dotingly to Zebediah, this doesn’t stop her from letting him die whenever he doesn’t serve his purposes. When Loni tries to escape a base that’s being destroyed with her son, he trips and falls. She had treated her like his “beloved son” before this, but she simply laughs at him, jokes about he needed to be in shape, and leaves him to die. There’s also the fact that she was willing to nuke a city to get Tony’s armor with some of her allies and her son in the explosion.
She also take sadistic enjoyment in hurting people. Not only does she enjoy the physical pain that she can cause, but she also enjoys psychologically torturing people as well. She pretends to tell Howard that she loves him, and to show that… he’ll wait for Tony to come for him so he can watch her kill his son just to watch him writhe in despair before killing him as well.
Loni has no remorse for anything she has done and openly admits that every man she has ever “loved” was just a way to get herself power.

Sociopath Profile: Emperor Belos
Tumblr media
Real name: Philip Wittebane From the animated series The Owl House (2020-2023) Voiced by Matthew Rhys (main form), Alex Lawther (Philip), and Fryda Wolf (child)
The main antagonist of the show and responsible for many of the conflicts of the show. Considering the tyranny of the Boiling Isles he holds, he shows a lot of traits of a sociopathic dictator. And it only gets worse with the more that is revealed about him.
[SPOILERS BELOW]
From the beginning, he was dedicated to witch-hunting and would do anything he could to make sure they'd all be exterminated. He's been going through the long game for over four centuries and was willing to work with a horrible monster to do exactly that. And through all this time, he has never developed a sense of empathy for anyone else. As Philip, he was willing to throw his exploration companions under the bus when trying to find a way back to the human realm while writing them as unfortunate accidents that he had nothing to do with. Despite creating Grimwalkers to replicate his brother Caleb, he is the one responsible for his death because he found out Caleb fell in love with a witch. With all the hallucinations he has about it, he ignores them as if he has no guilt about it.
To ensure his rise to power, Belos had to be very manipulative as well. As Philip, he had enough superficial charm to look like a friendly man just looking to get home. This is how he convinces people to fall into his traps to get what he wants. It doesn't exactly work on people once the residents of the Boiling Isles catch on to his tricks, but it manages to trick Luz and Lilith when they time-travel to the time of his journals. As she continued to go through the Isles, he built his profile as Belos to begin the crusade against wild magic by pretending to speak to the spirit of the titan. All to set up his extermination plan. Despite being very oppressive, he still held enough power to keep people under his thumb. Lying to Hunter about his goals and gaslighting him shows the extent of his manipulations on a personal level.
The Collector was also one of his pawns. He promised to release them for the Day of Unity, but he ended up betraying them when his goal was just within his grasp. And when that fails, he resorts to possession to trick others into getting his goals. He did so to Hunter to torment him and his friends. He also possesses the doll of Rain to trick the Collector into seeing King supposedly betraying him. Even at the end, he tries to trick Luz into believing he was cursed into being as horrific as he was. However, Luz sees right through it and shows him absolutely no mercy.
All of this was for his own gratification to be the heroic witch hunter. All to come back to the human realm and become decorated as a legendary man who stopped the evils of witches - despite his views being several centuries out of date. His belief that he will be the one to save people is one that persisted throughout his exile. Despite what he says about needing to eliminate them for the greater good, there is no further ambition than making himself look better. Even if he needs to kill the people he is supposedly close to, like his brother. Even the fact that he recreates replicas of him out of Grimwalkers doesn't really show that he is all that empathetic toward him.
"That man doesn't care about anything but his need to be the hero in his own delusion. And because of that, he fears what he can't control." - King's father
And because of this belief that he is the hero of the story, he will do everything he can to justify the things he does to others. Stepping over his subjects is justified to him because they're witches anyway and they'll be destroyed soon. He seems to feel guilty about killing his brother, but because he can't be in the wrong, he rewrites the memories in his mind to make it seem like he deserved to die for being on the wrong side. Even when humans point out how messed up his plans are, such as when Luz points this out inside his own mind, he shrugs it off and says that she is the crazy one.
Belos: I'll do anything to save humanity from evil. Luz: No. You're evil! Belos: [shrugs] Can't reason with crazy.
And it's safe to say that Belos completely lacks remorse for everything he has done. None of his conspirators are in on the full extent of the plan and those that are want nothing to do with it. Since he thinks he's done nothing wrong, he feels that he shouldn't have remorse. The Collector trying to empathize with him after fusing with the Titan only ended with Belos blasting a beam at them for their genuine efforts. Even at the very end when he is powerless, he still tries to weasel his way out of responsibility by claiming that he was cursed to act the way he did.

Sociopath Profile: Saito Sejima
Tumblr media
The Cyclops Serial Killer From the 2019 video game AI: The Somnium Files His body voiced by Tarusuke Shingaki (JP) and Greg Chun (EN)
MAJOR SPOILERS for this one going ahead.
Saito is the son of So Sejima and is one half of the Original Cyclops Killer with Rohan Kumakura. He is kind of a weird example for a number of reasons. He is described as a psychopath in-game, but while the cause of his condition is very inaccurate, the condition itself is pretty accurate. And there are a lot of circumstances surrounding his case that bring up some interesting questions regarding his status.
Saito was born with a brain deficiency that left him unable to feel emotions like love and empathy and grew up not feeling much of anything. It was only when he discovered killing small animals that he realized that he gets a dopamine rush from murder. And the whole game, he never shows anything other than that. His capacity for cruelty remains unhindered by this, allowing him to kill off the people closest to Date as well as his own father. When working with Rohan as the Cyclops Killer, he only wants to kill while not caring about what Rohan wants out of it. Even for those he isn't directly killing, he will still endanger lives. He suggests using the Kabasaki chemical plant as an insurance scheme to get more money to cover his crimes, disregarding the lives that will be displaced as a result.
Saito also displays a need for stimulation which is shown by his desire to kill. The dopamine rush is the only thing that keeps him going. While it isn't something that is too realistic, it does show that he is driven by self-satisfaction in place of any other methods of connection. This is the other reason why he is so upset about Date taking his body. He is desperate to have that rush from killing that he admits is like a drug addiction. Outside of that, his revenge plan is designed to cause Date as much emotional distress as possible by going after people he cares about. And when his plan goes awry on the right story paths, he amends his plan to get his body back so he can make Date watch him kill Hitomi and Iris.
[To Date] "You have no idea what it was like inside my own head! I miss it."
He can be manipulative as well, something he shows when he swaps into other bodies. He is able to effortlessly act like the hosts he inhabits without anyone being able to tell the difference. Date admits that his impressions of Iris and Boss were indistinguishable from the real thing, and the same can be said when he impersonates So. While he acts less hyper than Iris when being interrogated, the ARG videos have her hyperactive personality. In addition, he is able to lure his successive victims into being swapped without them suspecting a thing. When his plan is messed up in the right route, he is able to convince Pewter that he is his lover Renju to break #89 out of prison. When he lies, Aiba is unable to detect any physiological signs of discomfort or deceit. He lies calmly and naturally.
Despite his revenge plan requiring a ton of planning and patience, he still displays hints of poor impulse control. The Kabasaki incident was because So covering for his crimes became too costly, suggesting that he was killing even more people before the Cyclops Killer incident. And his need to murder was so great that he sought to continue it even after swapping into new bodies. And of course, the main reason for Date having his body was impulsively wanting to use the psync machine without thinking about the consequences. Having the brain of someone with empathy distresses him because he has no understanding of the guilt of taking a life.
The most interesting thing about him is that his case shows a point of how both nature and nurture played a part in how he became the way he is. His brain was physically incapable of processing such emotions as empathy, love, and remorse. However, has So just done his best to mitigate his worse behaviors, he wouldn't have gone as far as he did since Date didn't end up being psychopathic while having the same brain. Additionally, Saito had been living with that brain for so long that he got used to not feeling things like most people. When he does get into a brain that can process remorse and empathy, he hates it so much that he wants to go back. His brain may have played a part in how he ended up, but his mind had spent so much time there without getting any help that not even having other brains could change his personality.

State of the Blog (2 April 2023)
For starters, I'd like to thank the followers for helping me reach 500 followers on this blog. I greatly appreciate it, especially with some of the setbacks that I've had in running it. But I'm still glad that I've got a lot of people interested in it.
Now to move on, I want to discuss the future of this blog both immediately and in the long term.
Long-Term
I will say that my productivity is not as up to snuff for the number of requests I receive. I'm sorry I haven't been keeping up as well as I should. However, I want to make it clear now that I'm just posting whenever I can give myself an opportunity. I want to try to get to a point where I can post at least one new profile a week.
However, I'm not saying that will be very soon. It is something that has to be worked up to. I'll start by looking into whatever profiles I haven't started to see how many can be done quickly to at least fill out the missing profiles. And until I can get to a point where I can succeed in my goal, I'll at least be moving over any profiles I can from my main blog to at least have the appearance of that schedule.
I'm hoping to improve things later, but this is all just my word for now. I can't make any promises, but this is just what I intend to do. The plan may change, so take all of this with a grain of salt.
Short-Term
In the immediate future, I intend to have some profiles that I wanted to do for myself just because I liked the characters so I just wanted to get them out for myself. It'll help me get back into the swing of things.
Also, seeing some of the newer features of the post editor, I want to attempt to change how I set up the galleries. It might make things less cluttered in the captions of the post and I'll be setting up a poll to see which one I will start this one with. I have some ideas on what to do, but I'll have to think about which ones I do.
This is where I am now, and I'll do my best to get around to finishing things up. Thanks, you guys!

Sociopath Profile: Erika Sloane
Tumblr media
CIA Director From the 2018 film Mission: Impossible - Fallout Played by Angela Bassett
Sloane is one example of sociopathy in the film series that seems to stand out amongst the many others. While many of them are heartless or remorseless killers willing to screw over anyone to get what they want, Sloane is merely ruthlessly efficient. She is comparable to Amanda Waller in this regard since she admits that she doesn’t concern herself with individual lives in the pursuit of a goal, but unlike Waller, she does actually care about the greater good. She just prefers pragmatism over empathy.
[SPOILERS BELOW]
When Ethan loses the plutonium after trying to save Luther, she chides Hunley about Ethan’s concern for his teammates over the actual task at hand. She doesn’t really get why he is so sentimental over the teammates. When Hunley points out that if Ethan didn’t make his decision then Luther would be dead, she bluntly states that “that’s the job.”
Once Walker is exposed as being John Lark, she finally agrees with the IMF about not being able to trust him… which leads her to order that they all be killed to keep this under wraps. If any of her agents prove to be a liability to protecting the millions of lives that would be affected, their individual lives don’t matter. As far as she’s concerned, that’s the price to pay for protecting people.
While it may seem hypocritical since she doesn’t regularly lay her life down on the line for the safety of the world, from her perspective, she can’t really see people as anything more than statistics. She places people into position like chess pieces and expects them to follow orders. Her job doesn’t permit her to have empathy for the little guys like the IMF does. She can only do so much in the position that she’s in now.
However, she does come around to see Ethan’s point of view and sees that worrying about the one life as much as the million is worth it. But not out of any actual respect for Ethan or his team. It’s mostly because she doesn’t have to worry about those individual lives herself. She has someone out there looking out for them in her place while she focuses on the big picture.
