It’s been a while since I posted, not because I haven’t been binding books, but because I’ve been too exhausted to do social media much.

But I am so in love with my most recent bind that I’m going to post it, and probably go through and post the other things I’ve bound in the last few months as well.

This is a bind for a dear friend who used these fics to get me hooked on CodyWan. @lttrsfrmlnrrgby wrote a set of delightful stories with great world building and characterization.

I waffled back and forth on whether to do it as one volume or three, because this is the chonkiest book I have ever bound, coming in at 680 pages.

The book is bound in Polar Duo with Sunshine Duo inlays and HTV titling. The edges are painted with acrylic. Endpapers are my own paste papers.

there is just no way you hand lettered an entire fic i mean come on

Like. I can't tell if this is supposed to be cheeky or shitty, anon, since there are no emoji or tone indicators to let me know. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you were not being an asshole, though. And I went ahead and recorded a little video of the book, my beat up supplies, AND a quick little process clip of me doing the lettering just for you to see that I did, in fact, hand letter an entire fic. It was 1469 words and I did the math to figure out that came out to about 9100 (ish) characters. I have had some truly fantastic tags on my original post because it broke containment a bit and was reblogged by some fanbinders. So thank you so much for anyone who commented/liked/reblogged this project (and any of my fanARTifact projects). It makes the many, many, MANY hours of work very worth it to see you scream at me in the tags lol.

This was my first time creating a fantasy art landscape. I have plans to create more Stormlight Archive paintings in the future!

Not a fanfic binding, but my brother's birthday was coming up and he was insistent that the one book he wanted me to make him was this one.

The cover is Colibri elder bookcloth, hand foiled in silver. Spent at least 4 hours in Affinity Designer on the cover layout and I'm quite happy with it, even if it was a pain in the ass to foil all that.

I used a fountain pen ink on the edges which worked really nicely, and I sealed them with wax. The starry endpapers I've been sitting on for a while, but they seemed fitting.

Inside The River by yeaka

The second of three bindings for Annamon (ABT Fanbinding) for the 2022 @renegadepublishing binding exchange! This is Kirk/Spock arranged marriage fic, where they’re sent to a tropical planet for their honeymoon and have to get to know each other while solving a mystery…

Squareback A5 HB bound in yellow dubletta bookcloth with Mediterranean lemon endpapers and a title painted on the spine in green metallic fabric paint. I wanted to lean into the soft summery honeymoon vibe with this and I’m really happy with how it came out! The typesetting is crisper in comparison, I used a vey modem looking typeface for the body and two different Star Trek fonts for the chapter titles and the running headers/footers, for a sleek Star Trek-esque look.

First attempt at crisscross binding. It's an interesting one, but not sure I will use it often. The main characteristic is that the cover fold back on itself. But the friction this causes is not good for the lokta papers I used. If I attempt this one again, it will be with fabric or a cotton/waxed paper.

Bullet journal in yellow and red. I got a stack of chiyogami origami papers as a gift from mom. They are too small to bind with on their own, but they make perfect inlays on covers.

So, I recently read Hunger Pangs by Joy Demorra (@thebibliosphere). First time reading a spicy book, but I loved, loved it. Seriously, if you like supernatural stuff with Discworld vibes, go read it. There is even a non-spicy version if that is more your thing.

So naturally, I had to bind my own copy:

Still needs a title, but I love how it turned out. It's always more fun to bind actual books instead of plain journals. But I suck at formatting/layouting, so if an author gives permission to make personal copies, I'll gladly do so to get some practice in.
