Symphogear XD Unlimited - Memoria Card “The Understanding of Iai” EN TL

Miku and Shirabe set out to spy on the secret of Tsubasa's strength. Discovered en route, Tsubasa finds out their plans, and she has the two engage in some sword-drawing practice.

Tsubasa: Haa-!

Tsubasa: You devilish works of man - my Ame-no-Habakiri shall reduce you all to rust! Haa!

Kirika: We did it! They're pretty much all taken out.

Tsubasa: It would seem so. I'll establish contact with headquarters.

Tsubasa: Confirming all Alca-Noise eliminated. I think we've incurred a slight amount of damage. We'll continue investigating the area a little more later...

Shirabe: *stare*...

Kirika: Shirabe, what's up?

Shirabe: Tsubasa-san really doesn't waste a single motion, does she?

Kirika: You can't deny it - that's a sentinel for you.

Shirabe: I wonder what I have to do to get like that?

Kirika: Hmm... now I sure am curious.

Tsubasa: Aha!

Tsubasa: ...was it my imagination? I thought I spotted something, though...

Shirabe: *stare*...

Kirika: *stare*...

Shirabe: I thought observing her daily activities would lead us to understand the secret, but...

Kirika: All we've come to understand is that she's zero percent careless.

Shirabe: Right now, she's not doing one of the commander's special trainings, and she's not using one of Ogawa-san's ninja techniques.

Kirika: Well, ninja stuff, and the commander's stuff... you know...

Anyways, they're a mystery.

Shirabe: Maybe the secret's in what she does at home.

Kirika: Maybe it's about the food she eats?

Shirabe: Or maybe it's got to do with the clothes she wears...

Miku: What are you two up to?

Kirika: Shh! We're dead if we get spotted. C'mere!

Miku: Huh?

Shirabe: Please, hide.

Miku: Well, alright. Something up?

Kirika: Actually, right now, we're investigating the secret of Tsubasa-san's strength.

Shirabe: I want to become stronger, just like her. I'd like to understand the secret of that strength.

Miku: The secret of that strength...? Ah, by the way, Kirika-chan, Maria-san was calling for you.

Kirika: W-w-what!? I totally forgot I asked her to be my tutor!

Shirabe: Kiri-chan. You'd better hurry over.

Kirika: She's really waiting for nothing! Shirabe, hold the fort down here!

Kirika: I gotta run over to Maria! So... once you've exposed Tsubasa's secret, you gotta give me the details!

Shirabe: Got it. I'll definitely get to the bottom of this.

Kirika: And with that, I'm out!

Tsubasa: ...I thought I caught sight of something a while ago.

Shirabe: Ah...

Miku: Tsubasa-san.

Tsubasa: You're wondering what the secret is...?

Tsubasa: What's the matter, you two? We've barely begun; I think your shoulders should be gradually acclimating.

Tsubasa: I swear. If you wanted to train alongside me, you could've said so. I'll never turn you away.

Shirabe: I would've been fine... just observing, though...

Tsubasa: If you actually want to shift your body, those lessons won't be learned on the battlefield.

Miku: Why did I get pulled into this...?

Tsubasa: In order to undergo training, one must have a practice partner.

Shirabe: It's so... heavy...

Miku: Practice aside, I've swung this sword around too much...

Shirabe: I'm gonna collapse...

Shirabe: Well, if I had my Gear, I could withstand...

Tsubasa: That being the case, there's yet more; growing accustomed to that heaviness is paramount. Eventually you'll reach the point that you don't feel the sword's weight, and you become one with the blade.

Tsubasa: Alright, now keep that sword aimed at your eye for thirty minutes more!

Miku: Isn't that too long!?

Tsubasa: Will you have the luxury of lowering your sword when there are people to protect on the battlefield? Protecting until your last breath, eyes flashing, at any time - that is the essence of a sentinel.

Shirabe: What the heck even is a sentinel...

Tsubasa: Naturally, the spirit of attempting to be the sword that safeguards humanity.

Tsubasa: Once you're done, you should be able to make those movements easily one hundred times. After that... heh, perhaps we'll have a practice match.

Shirabe: That might break me!

Miku: That's really gonna break me...

Tsubasa: Huh? This is what the start of my training consisted of back when I was a child. You'll get used to it quickly.

Shirabe: There's no doubt the same blood runs through the commander's and Tsubasa's veins...

Miku: Definitely...

Shirabe: Tsubasa-san's very existence... is strong.

Miku: I'm thinking that, too.

Tsubasa: A little learning is a dangerous thing. Wasteful talk is a hazard.

Miku: Y-yes ma'am.

Shirabe: Kiri-chan, I'm sorry... there wasn't any secret at all...

Continuing what I started last night, and once again, apologies for the spam.

Chris Yukine: "An emergency call at the crack of dawn means there's been some kind of accident, right?"

Elfnein: "More like we might have one on our hands soon."

Maria: "Soon? What's that supposed to--"

Genjuro Kazanari: "Here it comes!"

Shirabe: "Wait... That's not Alca-Noise, but regular Noise..."

Kirika Akatsuki: "Does that means [1] the Treasury of Babylonia re-opened?!"

Tsubasa Kazanari: "Or is it a new kind of enemy?"

Genjuro Kazanari: "I'll explain later. For now, go and intercept the Noise!"

Chris Yukine: "Could somebody explain what's going on here! Why are there still Noise popping up?!"

Genjuro Kazanari: "Of course. Elfnein-kun will explain."

Elfnein: "Right..."

Elfnein: "To start off with, those Noise aren't from our world."

Tsubasa Kazanari: "They aren't from our world?"

Elfnein: "In our world, the Treasury of Babylonia remains closed."

Elfnein: "Those Noise were able to appear, because in reality, they're not from our world, but from a parallel world."

Maria: "Huh? What do you mean?"

Hibiki Tachibana: "Parallel... world?"

Miku Kohinata: "You've never heard of a parallel world? It's a different world that happens to be really similar to ours."

Hibiki Tachibana: "Uhhh, I think I get it... Or maybe I don't..."

Miku Kohinata: "But if such a world really exists..."

Chris Yukine: "Parallel schmarallel! I want to know why the Noise came here. And no technobabble this time!"

Genjuro Kazanari: "The relic Gjallarhorn is what's causing this incident. It's a complete relic that can connect two different worlds."

Shirabe Tsukuyomi: "It connects..."

Kirika Akatsuki: "two different worlds?!"

Tsubasa Kazanari: "Slow down a minute. When was a relic like that discovered?"

Genjuro Kazanari: "It was discovered by an excavation team lead by Ryoko-kun. It was already active when it was discovered."

Hibiki Tachibana: "Ryoko-san found it?!"

Elfnein: "The existence of Gjallarhorn had been kept classified, and only a select few knew about it."

Elfnein: "I read about it in a report for the first time this morning."

Genjuro Kazanari: "Gjallarhorn is a unique, dangerous relic, meaning that it's been experimented on in absolute secrecy."

Genjuro Kazanari: "What we discovered was that when an abnormality occurs in a parallel world, it can connect to our world."

Elfnein: "That parallel world, a world similar to our own, has been following a similar course of history."

Elfnein: "But despite that, there are certain occurrences unique to that parallel world."

Elfnein: "Must like our own world's history, it has continued to flow from ancient times to the modern day."

Elfnein: "But when the river of history reaches a tipping point, it breaks into several tributaries."

Maria: "So that parallel world is one of those tributaries."

Elfnein: "Correct. It is a world created from the possibilities that flowed out of our world."

Tsubasa Kazanari: "A world of possibilities that were lost from ours..."

Genjuro Kazanari: "Anyway, it's beyond any reasonable doubt that Gjallarhorn has connected our world to a parallel world again."

Maria: "Again? You're saying this has happened before?"

Genjuro Kazanari: "Yes. When Gjallarhorn connects to a parallel world, countless Noise appear, perhaps due to the worlds colliding."

Genjuro Kazanari: "The Treasury of Babylonia was open last time, so we could only guess, tut [2] this time, we know for sure.”

Genjuro Kazanari: "The abnormality that occurred here can only be cleared by resolving the abnormality in the parallel world."

Elfnein: "According to our records, there have been two instances when parallel worlds became connected."

Elfnein: "It seems the very first occurrence was resolved by Kanade Amo."

Hibiki Tachibana: "Did you say Kanade-san?!"

Tsubasa Kazanari: "Kanade? When was this?! I don't remember hearing anything about Kanade doing this!"

Genjuro Kazanari: "Calm down, Tsubasa."

Genjuro Kazanari: "Gjallarhorn is a complete relic, but it cannot be controlled or meddled with. It's like Pandora's Box."

Genjuro Kazanari: "Allowing you, the only fully compatible candidate, to go near something so dangerous was out of the question."

Tsubasa Kazanari: "Is that why you sacrificed Kanade?!"

Genjuro Kazanari: "Calm down. In the previous incident, Kanade-kun managed to cross to the parallel world and resolve the issue."

Genjuro Kazanari: "I admit I say this in hindsight, but she wasn't injured. Thanks to her, we learned more about Gjallarhorn."

Tsubasa Kazanari: "But..."

Maria: "You said it connected twice."

Elfnein: "Yes. The second time was during the Zwei Wing concert three years ago, during Nehushtan's activation experiment."

Tsubasa Kazanari: "What?!"

Genjuro Kazanari: "The concert overlapped with Nehushtan going berserk, and the only way we could deal with it was to wait it out."

Chris Yukine: "Okay... So we should be alright not going to the parallel world, and waiting this one out?"

Elfnein: "In the end we paid a terrible price for our lack of action."

Genjuro Kazanari: "And besides, this relic only reacts to wielders."

Shirabe Tsukuyomi: "Why only wielders?"

Elfnein: "I still don't know the details behind it, but..."

Elfnein: "It is thought that Gjallarhorn only selects someone powerful enough to resolve these interdimensional crises."

Kirika Akatsuki: "I don't really get it, but basically you're saying that we're the only ones who can go to that world?"

Genjuro Kazanari: "Precisely. That's why I want all of you to go investigate the abnormality."

Elfnein: "I don't know what's going on over there, and it will likely be dangerous..."

Tsubasa Kazanari: "I'll go."

Genjuro Kazanari: "Tsubasa..."

Tsubasa Kazanari: "I'm the only one who can take up Kanade's mantle."

Tsubasa Kazanari: "Besides, we have so many wielders here. If anything happens to me..."

Hibiki Tachibana: "Y-You can't!"

Maria: "Tsubasa, do you understand what you're saying?!"

Tsubasa Kazanari: "I'm sorry, but I can't let anyone else do this. This is my duty as Kanade's other wing."

Genjuro Kazanari: "Tsubasa, I understand how you feel, but don't get ahead of yourself. I've no intention of letting you go alone."

Elfnein: "Yes. There are Noise appearing here as we speak, so it would be best to split our forces into two teams."

Miku: "There are six of us here, so it'll be three per team then?"

Elfnein: "That's right. Meaning Tsubasa-san will be with two others."

Maria: "In that case, I'll go with her. I have to make sure she doesn't do anything too crazy."

Tsubasa Kazanari: "Maria..."

Chris Yukine: "Then I'll take the last spot."

Maria: "Wait. I want you to team up with Shirabe and Kirika."

Kirika Akatsuki: "What?!"

Shirabe: "Maria?"

Chris: "You mean them?"

Maria: "Yes. So that means only one remains..."

Hibiki Tachibana: "......"

Hibiki Tachibana: "Um, I don't really get this parallel world stuff, but there'll be people over there who need help, right?"

Genjuro Kazanari: "Just like I said earlier, Gjallarhorn is like Pandora's Box. Most of it is still completely unknown."

Genjuro Kazanari: "However, considering past occurrences, there is a very high chance that people will be needing help."

Hibiki Tachibana: "Then I'll go!"

Miku Kohinata: "I knew it..."

Hibiki Tachibana: "Hehe, sorry Miku."

Miku Kohinata: "It's okay. You're going to get to help people, right?"

Hibiki Tachibana: "Yep!"

Genjuro Kazanari: "It's decided. The survey team will be Tsubasa-kun, Maria-kun, and Hibiki-kun. Please stay safe out there."

Genjuro Kazanari: "This is the gate created by Gjallarhorn that leads to the parallel world."

Elfnein: "Gjallarhorn emits a sonic wave to notify us of the abnormality in the parallel world."

Tsubasa Kazanari: "Sonic wave... Then the light being emitted from the relic is..."

Elfnein: "Yes. It shows that it has detected an abnormality in the parallel world." Elfnein: "Is everyone ready?"

Tsubasa Kazanari: "Yeah, I'm ready."

Maria: "All ready."

Hibiki Tachibana: "Totally ready!"

Elfnein: "When you get to the other side, please confirm your location."

Elfnein: "There should be a gate that will allow you to return to where you came from."

Tsubasa Kazanari: "So you're saying we can return at any time?"

Elfnein: "Yes. That is what it says in the report."

Tsubasa Kazanari: "I see... All right. Let's move out."

Chris Yukine: "You really don't hesitate, huh?"

Maria: "That's Tsubasa Kazanari for you. We should get going, too."

Shirabe Tsukuyomi: "Be careful out there, Maria."

Kirika Akatsuki: "Come back right away if you feel lonely!"

Maria: "I-I wouldn't do that even if I were! You have a job to do too, okay?!"

Miku Kohinata: "Hibiki, are you sure you'll be all right?"

could you into detail on your altergear AU?? i'm really intrigued!!

WHOA, you actually wanna know?! Okay okay, here goes nothing!

So the story premise is a parallel universe to Symphogear, but with a twist. The Gear Users are normal people. No one’s trained to fight since they’re young, injected themselves with LiNKER to the point they threw up blood, or were basically raised to be Finé’s newest reincarnation.

It’s normal. Sure there’s a bit of a gap between the Users (Emma being the youngest of them all at 15 with Emira being 19, and Cecilia is just a year older than Emma at 16), they’re all what’s considered ‘normal’.

They’re chosen by the Gears, and can switch the Gears they use amongst themselves as long as they pass the permission to the user. This is a whole plotline I want to get into with Cecilia and her being incapable of using Gungnir because it was stolen by one of the antagonists of the AU!

So like. Imagine 6 normal girls being walked up to at different points in time and asked to like... help with a secret project. They don’t have to tell their parents, and can even decline if needed but it’s emphasized that they are the only ones who can use the Gears.

As of current, AMENOHABAKIRI is out of commission. The in-universe reason is because she’s in a coma after using her Superb Song/Swan Song/Climax Song (whichever you’d like to use, there’s too many ways. Out of universe, it’s because I can’t come up with a design for her or her civilian form but I do know her name! She’s Cecilia’s sister, Wisteria Edenwood, and let’s just say the whole thing with Wisteria using the Climax song does include Cecilia.

AND DON’T GET ME STARTED ON THE REST.

I made it a parallel universe to allow the lore from X-Drive Unlimited (the game) aka the gallajhorn or w/e it’s called (I can’t spell it for the life of me) to allow Symphogear Users to cross over to this universe, so obviously crossover shenanigans between the two universes can happen too!

Finé is not a prominent subject in this world, but the Curse of Balal is. It’s not Finé’s fault, though, as we learned in XV-- Wait I’m getting into actual Symphogear lore now. OKAY MOVING ON.

I have a storyline all planned out. And I have voices planned out for headcanon voices of my AU characters.

I have backstories, I have outlines. I have everything set to push this forward in motion.

Altergear is a concept project I came up with when I first posted the Ichaival image on my old tumblr in February. I figured it would just be an art project I’d work on every so often, but I’ve ended up taking it so much further.

--I’m rambling again. ONWARD.

So there’s more. The antagonists of the story, I haven’t got concept art on them but I do know their names and motives. Their working “organization” name is The Twelve, a circle of known mafia members and underground crime ring. Working with the Alchemists of the Altergear world, kinda like the Bavarian Illuminati (the alchemists, not the main antagonists. Sorry for the confusion). Their main motive is to acquire the Gears and sell them on the black market so every organization can copy them and mass-produce them to cause wars, famine and the like. And you have 6 normal girls trying to stop them... Well, 5 at the moment since Wisteria isn’t in active duty right now.

The organization Altergear’s Symphogear Users work under is basically Sector 2 under the name S.Y.S. Symphogear Yggdrasil Systematics, a secret organization that’s working under the equivalent of the FBI and CIA (that I tend to liken them to). They’re given these special passes to get out of school/work if the need arises to combat The Twelve’s need for the Symphogears.

Why is it called S.Y.S? Because I thought it sounded cool, I don’t know how to name things xD;

But like, putting the Symphogears in such reach of The Twelve is actually concerning, as well as combating the Eradi-Noise (they’re just Noise/Alca-Noise with a different name). There’s a real chance any of them can die and, since Wisteria’s hospitalization and coma, they’ve been banned from using the Superb Song unless it is incredibly desperate.

Also, unlike the series, the Altergear users do not use their assigned songs. Like, for Cecilia, I have Senritsu Sorority as her main background music where the lyrics would be her singing about how she wants to gain control of her life. Emma’s would be Okyou Shul Shagna, but with the lyrics being about how lost and alone she was until she was recruited... I haven’t figured out the rest yet but I know that I will at some point.

OH YEAH, TEAMS.

So Cecilia, Emma and Emira are all on one team. Cecilia and Emma are best friends, so it’s obvious they’d be together. Emira just joined them on her own one day and was like “I gotta make sure they don’t get hurt” (news flash, everyone gets hurt). I haven’t worked out the kinks on this one!

Wisteria and the other two unnamed characters were on a team until Wisteria fell into a coma, in which the team disbanded. The other two have been overseas for about a few months but are due to return at some point!

Prior users were Fuki and Maya, who wielded Gungnir and Airgetlám respectively before they retired after a near-death experience. I’ll draw them at some point in the future.

Also I do intend on having Carol in this, though how I’ll be adding her will probably be a surprise to everyone or no one.

Even being aware of the fact that she couldn’t see it, NamJoon rolled his eyes. “I’m not going to miss it, mom.”

She clicked her tongue on the other side of the line then sighed in defeat, “alright, alright. Just do it safely, okay? I love you.”

“I love you too,” his tone softened, small smile stretching the corner of his lips as he stopped pacing around the room telling her goodbye.

Grabbing his backpack and shoving his phone inside of it, he looks around one more time just to make sure he is not forgetting about anything when his eyes lands on the car keys at the nightstand. He reaches his hand to grab it, chest tightening irrationally when he turns to leave and lock the door behind him - wondering if the feeling is related to leaving not only the place but the small island later that day.

He brushes his hair out of his eyes, stepping outside to walk through the parking lot and towards the car - taking note of the heavy clouds hanging in the sky, sun hidden behind them with a light purse of his lips. It is still not the perfect day but it will do. It has to, actually.

Consisted of stone walls, the Alca Island has its rocks slowly collapsing into the sea; and as NamJoon follows the ocean all the way from his seat at his rented car, surveying its beauty, he also sees why this place - who used to be so crowded, started to rush away its inhabitants and visitors.

He can’t help but muse that it is too dangerous.

There’s a reason why he is going to adventure himself into the Arena in his last day here, a few hours before his flight (the one his mom is so scared that he will miss because to someone so smart, sometimes he is too careless); it was not his choice. Today is one of the rare days of the year where the tides are low and he can walk around to grab material for his research. He was lucky enough to have it happening while he is on vacation, even if it is so close to the end.

Bad and destructive rainstorms are not uncommon in the island - the inhabitants (the ones who managed to earn money somehow and stayed) not only started to warn visitors about how the touristic points just aren’t anymore, also became more strict and careful about visits in general.

Not too soon the place was designated as a World Heritage Site seeing how important it was for the environment (especially for the marine life), and UNESCO in order to help not only Alca but the natives that decided to stay behind as well, started to charge every tourist an environmental preservation fee upon arrival, establishing a few laws so people would actually help and preserve.

Which ended scaring away the ones who wanted to take advantage of the animals and nature resources as a way to make money.

NamJoon is not one of them, sure. The biology student’s research comes directly to support UNESCO. He wants to bring more attention to the idea of helping the natives and nature, as in addition to study the unlimited number of undiscovered sea creatures.

Here he brings only what is important; good intentions, his favorite camera and his love and respect towards nature.

And he was graced with so much already, the natives who he had the opportunity to meet becoming no less than friends to him and helping with whatever he needed.

He had no doubts that this Island was in good hands, even if he misunderstood it a little - or how he decided to genuinely ignore their subservient behavior when they talked about the ocean.

Being able to fully inhale and appreciate the fresh salty air, he parks the car not too far from a hidden beach; the closest he could get from his final destination and making sure to guard the place inside his head before he finally started to walk.

An unexplainable emerald sea shined under the sunlight - who only decided to appear a few minutes before setting, a rare kind of beauty that forced NamJoon to hold his breath.

With a low tide, dark volcanic rocks helped the ocean as it created natural pools with clear waters, housing the rich marine life yet to be explored. The young man took his camera from his backpack and dedicated a few minutes of his time to capture every little fish and corals he could see before he was satisfied enough to put it back on its safe place.

Avoiding the unsteady rocky floor, he groped his way across the coastline until he reached the edge of a cliff.

Worrying his bottom lip, NamJoon looked around before realizing that in order to get to the shore below he will have to climb down the cliff and jump into the water.

He crouches down, tightly grasping the straps of his backpack and jumps - hissing when he makes contact with icy water and the tiny crashing waves that reaches calf high.

Walking south, he erases the final distance to face the secluded Arena.

Built decades ago by someone who misjudged the tides, the Arena is a place covered by pools, some filled with salty waters and others barely wet with it - it didn’t take long for them to be abandoned and forgotten seeing as how hard it is to get there and especially how ridiculous dangerous it gets once the tides are high.

NamJoon bites his tongue when he feels the first droplets hitting his head, a warning that he soon - to soon, will have to leave.

Thousands of pictures later, the rain is not so merciful anymore and he is gathering his stuff from half a cave so he can walk back; letting aside the urge to sit down and rest and wait for the rain to stop. He knows better than that, that this is not typical (not for him, at least - because he’s sure everyone else is used to it) and that he really needs to leave now before the tides makes the decision of going high one day earlier.

Walking the way back and almost out of the Arena, NamJoon suddenly stopped when the sound of splashing water echoed in a pool he didn’t dare to come close - just for something in particular, because he thought it was empty.

For a second he thought about turning around to leave when a strange movement of the waves caught his attention.

The rectangle pool was clearly out of reach of the ocean, but especially close to the margins the waves were stronger, heavier. Almost like the pool was its final destination.

It didn’t make any sense as he looked around and even though the sky was darker today and the clouds were heavy, the rest of the ocean - with that spot as an exception, were calm.

Curiosity overtook him and he makes his way around to that place, being smart enough to avoid the margin.

He peeks out to watch the inside and take a note of how this one is way deeper than the others, dirty and shallow green water at the end.

The splash sound is heard again and NamJoon is sure that there’s some kind of really big fish there, already planning on opening his backpack again to take his expensive camera out with him.

Trying to take a better look inside, he decides to go down in the rocky stairs.

There’s only four large steps and he wants to go to the last one.

And that’s when he sees it.

An iridescent lilac fin, struggling against the water.

He reaches his arm out with his camera ready in hand to take a picture of the creature at its full glory - and if it wasn’t for the strap holding the object securely to his neck, he would have missed a money he doesn’t really have right now, all the pictures he took today, and the proof that he is not mad.

Unless someone can take pictures of hallucinations.

That would be enough to explain why there’s a picture of a mermaid on his camera.

He took a good look at his watch too, just to make sure he wasn’t dreaming.

The sea creature left out a rough sound, his attention moving back down there.

High tides are the most common thing to see in this place as stated and warned before - so many times NamJoon lost count, but it probably took a good rainstorm and a pretty angry ocean to reach the farthest pool - he wonder how long you spent stuck in here, while watching as you attempt to reach the margin, the far high margin, as you grow weaker.

NamJoon shook his head, trying to make some sense flow to his mind and breathed out a muffled curse.

“Hey you!” He tried, voice too low as the rain became thicker, but you heard and looked up startled. “I’m going to help you out, alright?”

Too distracted as he left his belongings behind, doing his best to climb down the wall that separated the two of you, he didn’t notice you flinching nor pressing your back on the other end of the pool, your small figure finding strength to tremble with panic.

He stumbled forward when his feet touched green mud; a slight frown adorning his face as he concentrated on his steps until he was close enough to crouch in front of you, clothes sticking wet to his body.

You watched him carefully, a strange necessity to trust him demanding space inside your chest as he looked at you with his warm brown eyes and easy dimpled smile.

“I’m not going to hurt you, don’t worry,” he said with his palms out for you to see. You hesitated but the sound of lighting strike makes you shiver and to his surprise you grab one of his hands between yours; still trembling and cold.

“Good, now let’s get you out of here.” Trying to push you up, you pushed him back down. And he urged himself into not slapping his face when he realized you can’t just get up on your feets. “I’ll have to carry you,” he said more to himself, biting his lips and taking one last look around. He crouches down again with his back facing you, tugging your hand that never left his and helping you with a piggyback. “Hold me tight,” he asked softly, crossing your arms around his shoulders himself, having no idea if you were understanding him or not.

Making sure you were secure, he moved even slower than before.

NamJoon felt his arms burn with the force he had to do to push you and him back up to the fourth step of the rocky stairs.

Out of the pool, with one of his arms supporting the rest of your weight - feeling the smoothness of your scales, he carries you to the small cave, leaving you there before swiftly making his way back to grab his backpack, almost hitting the floor because of the way he slipped on a puddle.

He is clueless about what is waiting for him; the ocean stopping its waves in a disturbing manner.

“I’m back,” he announced with a sweet smile. “I’ll just make sure you aren’t hurt and then-“

He loses his words the moment his eyes land on your still figure, concern leaving a bad taste inside his mouth as he steps closer just to breath out in relief when you move your hand to take your hair out of your face in annoyance; but he realized it was too soon when a painful groan left your lips.

Confusion had adorned NamJoon’s face before a frown took place as the mermaid suddenly began convulsing - the glittering lilac from your scales tinted the same as your skin color, every piece of them becoming rigid until they started to fall. With one hand the young man supported your head, afraid you would hit the floor; with the other, he helped free a new pair of legs, too stunned to swallow the sight of a mermaid turning into a human.

He felt his head spinning, decided to disbelieve his own eyes because there is no way he just witnessed that.

But he did.

You moaned in discomfort when you stopped moving violently, a high-pitched breath leaving your lips. Lungs.

He took off his hoodie with shaky hands and helped you with it, your lilac eyes finding and never moving away from his face; somewhat curious and wary, at the same time it dropped slightly as you grew even more tired.

Ignoring the sudden heat creeping up to his face with your nudity - this is not an appropriate time to feel embarrassed or act prude, he sighed heavily.

What the hell should I do now?

Guess NamJoon is missing his flight tonight.

A/N: I’m using the fact that I moved from the other blog to this one as an excuse to rewrite and go through the grammar mistakes in this! I’d like to remind you though that english is not my first language and I might miss a few things, so I hope it won’t be on the way of your reading and that you can enjoy this series just as much as I enjoyed writing it. Symphogear XV Episode 2

Hey, it's episode 2! Thanks to a poor tag block I'm not going into this one completely blind; I know that Maria wears a suit at some point, and this knowledge has already undone me.

Cool, let's start with a recap of episode 1, because it's been a whole week since we saw all this last time

Hmm, lots of Kazanari family members here. I'm starting to worry about too many antagonists in one season.

Chris still honoring her parents at the shrine she made Genjuro buy for her in the first set of OVAs. I love that those are canon.

Aw, and a picture of all her friends at her birthday party. Chris has come a long way, hasn't she?

Hibiki being That Person and constantly reminding Chris of that super-great present she got that one time. Hibiki, we all love you dearly, but don't be That Person.

And Chris blushing at even the merest hint that she has friends. She's come a long way, but not that far.

Oh, and she's already in college. Saving the world probably pads your CV a bit for that, right?

Huh, apparently it's 2045. I'm surprised they still *have* winter

Maria in a suit. I am undone!

Also, Maria is wearing sunglasses indoors so that no one can tell she's staring at her girlfriend the whole time

Wait, what happened on the way back from the south pole? (they ask rhetorically, since it's going to be shown soon anyway) The point is that Tsubasa is having Doubts again, despite the fact that she's been through this exact thought process three times before.

I love that the default quick-deployment for Symphogear users is just "load them into a missile"

Kirika, you're in a very narrow corridor, why would you try to swing a scythe? (the answer is of course because Shirabe is the brains in the relationship, and she's busy fighting the new wolf girl)

"Symphogears made from destroying perfect life"... I remember something about Kirika's and Shirabe's 'gears being "irregular" somehow, and the relic names they have aren't actually relics, are they made from the body of an actual goddess?

Hah! Surprise yo-yo attack!

And here's Shirabe's song, also gay.

Wow, even when they're not in duet these to combine attacks. GAAAY

"I didn't lose! I was holding back!" Yeah, sure. Sorry, Eliza, you're not enough to beat back the GAAAAY that these two bring to the table

"Yeah, no, S.O.N.G., the entity founded to deal with relics and supernatural threats, isn't allowed to protect the corpse and relic,  because of... Reasons I guess. Blame the US."

Oh look, it's Fudo Kazanari, the controlling dad to end all controlling dads. "I don't care if America nuked us again, you should've kept the corpse!"

Chris can just... show up behind Hibiki, can't she? But only to dunk on her.

Can I just say? I love these stupid and impractical concert hall designs.

And they slide down a FUCKING WATER SLIDE to enter the venue. This is better than GX and its impossible wirework

Tsubasa, when Maria said she wanted to "sing all night with you", she was flirting, not offering to be in a concert with you. In short: GAAAAAY

I know this isn't the point here, but this was billed as a Kazanari Tsubasa solo concert, and now we've got Maria here, in an outfit, singing a song that was clearly written to be a duet. Was Tsubasa planning this, or does she just have a really good support team?

"What does it mean to live/for my heart to beat? It's to play a song towards the future in a color that's your own". That line combined with the tagline this season of "Create a history, with the light that God could not know", plus there's more yellow being associated with Tsubasa here than... ever really. I could speculate, but instead I'll link an old post of mine and tell you to re-read the bits about citrinitas. Tsubasa's learning her Self.

Aaand... Alca-Noise attack. It's Zwei Wing all over again!

Ah, and the show draws that parallel too.

And it's our second new antagonist. Gotta' admit, she knows how to crash a party.

Wow, that is... that's a lot of blood.

Oh, and they're showing the hole in the chest too. So much for gore censorship

So just a thought, the concert hall (or at least the concert) was called the "Roof of Heaven". What happened last time a tower tried to reach Heaven?

And the rest of the Wielders arrive too late. This is... I mean the only word that really fits is "bad", but that's not enough

Tsubasa drops her sword. She's giving up. This is... not good, given the color stuff from earlier.

And for the after-credits bit: Why didn't the americans think that putting a metal bracer into an MRI machine was a good idea? Admittedly, usually what happens with that is shrapnel damage, not vaporising a mummy, but this is (apparently) the future, who knows what can happen?

XD0-1 Gjallarhorn Prologue: The Incident

Also known as “Strange Happenings” because for some reason this part has two different names in English.

Sorry for the upcoming spam. This is the prologue of the XD Quest Gjallarhorn in XD Unlimited. Unfortunately, the rest of the story (Chapters 1, 2, and Final) will not be available in the English version of the game and neither will a lot of events leading to it, so this is all we have.

Reminder that these are copied straight from XD Unlimited itself, so any grammatical weirdness, mistranslations, and/or mischaracterizations are not my doing.

Elfnein: (This is really concerning.)

Elfnein: (I have some time, so I think I'll read over some of the Gjallarhorn report again.)

Elfnein: (I've really managed to flesh it out ever since Ryoko Sakurai left it behind.)

Elfnein: (Let's go over Gjallarhorn first.)

Report: "Gjallarhorn is a complete relic that links parallel worlds together."

Report: "It can also detect crises in parallel worlds, alerting its users and providing a path to the world in need."

Elfnein: (But what could be the original intent behind its creation?)

Elfnein: (Could it be to allow said worlds to deal with crises that they couldn't deal with on their own?)

Elfnein: (But then how could they even know about the existence of parallel worlds, let alone connect them together?)

Elfnein: (Perhaps they were able to observe parallel worlds in the age in which Gjallarhorn was created?)

Elfnein: (Wait. What if there was some event that involved the parallel worlds?)

Elfnein: (If I take a closer look at each parallel world observed thus far, I might find some commonalities.)

Elfnein: (Though I do wish I could go to the worlds myself and investigate...)

Report: "The gates and paths opened by Gjallarhorn stay active, linking the worlds even after the crisis is resolved."

Report: "However, the paths cannot be used without relics, meaning that currently, only wielders can traverse them."

Elfnein: (Hmm... This doesn't sit well with me either.)

Elfnein: (Why is a relic needed to travel to parallel worlds?)

Elfnein: (Is it to protect oneself from obstacles like faults in the space-time continuum or phase contrasts?)

Elfnein: (Or is there some other reason to limit who can traverse the paths?)

Elfnein: (It can be surmised from the report that it could be to select only those capable of resolving said crises.)

Elfnein: (Conversely, is it possible that these requirements were set to arbitrarily gather relics in specific worlds?)

Elfnein: (I'm not sure...)

Report: "A special black variant of Noise have been identified in these worlds. We call them Karma Noise."

Report: "Not only are they far more powerful than typical Noise, they also instantly recover from superficial wounds."

Report: "Among other unique traits, they also spread miasma that triggers negative emotions in surrounding organisms."

Report: "Upon contact, a human will experience increased hostility, and at worst, a total collapse of the ego."

Report: "Although wielders can resist this mental contamination, they become unable to use the Ignite Module."

Elfnein: (Yes. As Dáinsleif's curse overlaps with the Karma Noise's curse, the destructive impulse is amplified--)

Elfnein: (--Eroding a wielder's reasoning, and making them go berserk like HIbiki-san once did in that parallel world.)

Elfnein: "As you all know, the Gjallarhorn alert is linked to gates that connect to multiple parallel worlds."

Elfnein: "So when the alert goes off, the spatial coordinates telling us what world to investigate also appear."

Chris Yukine: "Now that you mention it, you were still checking the coordinates before we left, weren't you?"

Elfnein: "Yes. We were trying to determine whether the world was one we visited or a new one entirely..."

Tsubasa Kazanari: "But something was different this time?"

Elfnein: "Yes, the spatial coordinates that came with this alert changed rapidly and were clearly abnormal."

Shirabe Tsukuyomi: "The spatial coordinates changed rapidly?"

Kirika Akatsuki: "So then, what does that mean?"

Hibiki Tachibana: "Did it break or something?"

Elfnein: "I considered that possibility, but that cannot be the case."

Elfnein: "Around the time you defeated that Karma Noise, the spatial coordinates came up again, but..."

Maria: "Which parallel world was it?"

Elfnein: "That's the thing. Somehow, there appeared to be multiple signals triggering the alert."

Elfnein: "We have currently confirmed anomalies in Serena-san's world and the world with Finé-san and Dr. Ver."
