o._.julia Last night I dreamed I went to manderley again…… 뮤지컬 레베카 10주년 8/19 블루스퀘어 를 시작으로 12/14~ 마곡엘지시그니처홀에서 앵콜공연의 여정이 한주만을 남겨두고 있습니다. 저는 어제,한주 이른 막공을 무사하게 잘 마무리 했어요. 많은 분들께서 보내주신 관심 사랑 덕분이에요. 초연을 시작 할 때만 하더라도 이 작품이 이렇게 오랜시간, 심지어 시간이 더 지나갈수록 폭발적 사랑을 받을 줄 몰랐어요. 제작자님께서도 같은 말씀을 하시며 감사와 함께 더불어 더 큰 발전을 위한 계획을 벌써부터 도모 하고 계시니 다음 시즌 불타는 맨덜리는 더 뜨겁고 스팩타클하게 타오르며 돌아올것 같습니다. 초연 당시, 로버트 요한슨 연출가님께서, “ 히치콕의 영화를 보지말고, 원작 소설로 탐구 상상하고 계획하고 그 미스테리함을 발견해서 끌어내줘” 라고 하셨던 말씀을 매 시즌마다 실행하려 하고 있고 이것이 #레베카 라는 작품의 개미지옥 같은 힘이구나 싶습니다. 존경하는 로버트 연출님,끊임없이 보석을 캘 수 있는 방법을 알려주셔서 다시 한번 감사드려요,,사랑해요🩷 여러번을 보았어도 또 다르게 새롭고, 알쏭달쏭 하던것들에 유추 가능한 범위를 넓혀주는 소름 돋는 미스테리 스릴러 레베카, #실베스타르베이 작곡가님의 완벽한 음악 조화 ! 10 주년 동안 더 나은 퀄리티를 이어올 수 있게 해준 공신들 여러팀중, 매일같이 공연모니터를 하며 흐트러지지 않게 잡아주신 조연출님들의 노고가 정말 큽니다. 기진주조연출님,세혁조연출님 정말 고맙습니다 🙏🏻💧 객석의 컨디션 ,그에 따른 음향 모든 환경들을 훌륭한 퀄러티로 운영 가능케 늘 섬세한 촉 세워주신 강은미 감독님, 그리고 극장관계자분들께도 깊은 감사의 마음을 전합니다. 마곡 엘지는 정말이지,짱짱 핵 짱 사랑이에요💜 완벽하고 사랑스러운 우리 레베카 배우모두,그리고 스텝모두 너무나 깊이 사랑하고 존경합니다💜🙏🏻 저희 레베카 와 함께 해주신 모든 관객분들께 다시 한번 깊은 감사를 전하며,, 전 이제 프랑스로 넘어가 보겠습니다…… 🇫🇷 마지막 인사는 나의 레베카, 세상에서 가장 멋지고 아름다운 항해사였던 그녀가 배에 써놓은 문장으로 대신 할게요. -Je Reviens ! - Last night I dreamed I went to manderley again…… Starting with the Bluesquare [performances] on August 19th and [continuing] with the Magok LG Signature Hall on December 14th, this journey of the musical Rebecca's 10th anniversary has one week left. Yesterday, I finished my last performance a week early without any problems. It's all thanks to the love and interest that so many people have sent our way. At the start of the premiere and even as time went on, I had no idea that this work would be loved so much for as long as it has. The producer said the same thing and with gratitude is already planning fore greater development, so I think that next season's Manderley on Fire will come back burning spectacularly hot. At the premiere, director Robert Johanson said, "Don't watch Hitchcock's film, rather, study and imagine and plan through the original novel, and find the mystery and pull it out." I try to apply those words every season, and I think this must be the ant hell power of a work like Rebecca. Dear Director Robert, I want to say thank you again for teaching me how to dig deeper always for the jewel beneath,, I love you🩷 You've seen it many times but it's always new. Rebecca, a mystery thriller that gives you goosebumps and expands as you try to figure it out; a perfect musical harmony by the composer Sylvester Levay! Throughout these ten years, of the many teams that contributed in bettering the quality, the Assistant Directors' hard work, who monitored every performance and kept it from becoming a mess, was the biggest [yet]. Thank you so much to Assistant Director Ki Jin Joo and Se Hyuk 🙏🏻💧 I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Director Kang Eun Mi and the theater officials who always had a delicate hand in operating the condition of the theater and the sound environment to the best quality. A Gay Girl's Guide to Korean Musicals (with English subtitles!)

People often associate musicals with male gayness (both onstage and off) but there's stuff out there for female-oriented queers too! It's just harder to find, which is why I put this video together despite not knowing Korean.

This list isn't comprehensive and I deliberately chose musicals with either queer female characters or gender-free casting (i.e. female actors playing male roles), except for Bernarda Alba, which is special as it’s by far the largest-scale all-female production with 10 characters. Obviously there are many Korean musicals out there which don't meet these criteria and are still of interest to the queers, but I wanted to highlight these in particular as they are, apart from Rebecca, not as well-known. I highly recommend checking out @koreanmusicals for more information on Korean musicals generally!

Note: Again, I don’t understand Korean and relied heavily on machine translation and the original lyrics for licenced productions, so any errors in the subtitles or explanations are mine. Corrections are very welcome!
