I'm relatively new to Shakespeare, but I'm very excited to get more invested in his works! I've studied Romeo and Juliet in full, and know the plot of Macbeth. I'm currently going through Hamlet and I actually know nothing of the plot- although I have suspicions (considering the play is a tragedy).

Act 1, Scene 1 already goes CRAZY. My biggest passion when studying texts is considering the context of the time it was written in- and this is something EXTREMELY pertinent for Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet especially mirror the instability and tension of the 1590s. (Threats to the monarchy, invasion of the Spanish, persecution of Catholics, Irish rebellion, etc.) The very first line is "Who's there?", immediately setting the tone of distrust. There are more obvious indications of this, such as the appearance of Old Hamlet's ghost, as well as the reference to Julius Caesar by Horatio, but it's amazing seeing how many allusions there are to this strain throughout only the first scene.

and HAMLET. Listen, I've literally only gotten to the first soliloquy (no spoilers please, by the way!! 😆) but I have to express my excitement. I look forward to exploring his character in more depth, and his relation to/possible representation of Elizabethan Britons' feelings. As a Sherlock Holmes fan, I look very much to exploring a potentially complex and multifaceted character- with a mix of interpretations surrounding him. After all, his first line, "A little more than kin, and less than kind" was described by John Dover Wilson as "a riddle, just like his character", which makes me hopeful.

To be honest, my main reason for attaching myself to Hamlet was simply how much of myself I immediately saw in him. But that's what Shakespeare is good at, isn't he? Despite his plays taking place in an already distant past, their actual feeling and explorations are timeless. Upon the subject of Hamlet's first soliloquy, I have been in a painfully similar situation myself- and that frustration and lack of understanding is something I have felt exactly. I hope for him to develop and gain peace on this but, alas... This play is a tragedy, centering around themes of betrayal and mistrust. I have a strong feeling Hamlet's not making it out of this in one piece 😔 Bro just goes OFF on his first rant, though!! To me it's just... real!! So incredibly real, even if in a very outtdated manner of speaking, I totally get what that guy's getting at! That's what excites me!

So wtf do i mean by stone slab event. Well im going thru one of my journals i kept around this time in 2019 and i came across a page that reminded me of it

But basically i was dicking around on TEdit and used that feature where you can look at how many tiles there are of an item or block in a world, and somehow on my main world id been playing on for like a year or smth it said there was a single stone slab that existed in the world. Now. I didn't ever remember crafting or placing a stone slab. I used them so little i don't think i even knew what they looked like? So imagine my confusion that somewhere there was a single tile of slab that i presumably had not placed or found

So i kinda just liveposted trying to figure out where it was to Two separate discord servers and ppl on there were also trying to figure out what had happened, i think i had to install like 3 different map analyzers bc i couldnt figure out how to get the other ones to just highlight a single block type. It went on for a while

I have a tendency to draw people at a 3/4 turn more often than not! I feel like if I draw them like that they're usually facing left, and if it's profile they're usually facing right... but I haven't run the math

5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself

Hmmm.. I definitely post most of the art I make online, even if it's just a sketch I liked! You can find all that at @sierraveree-art since I think it's important that artists show not only finished pieces but the in-between stages of what else they might do.

I don't usually post if it's like personal, or for a friend, or if I'm not happy with it. Like I just drew a few birthday cards and some pokemon but haven't posted those guys. But overall like... 80-90% of what I draw I share? At least since I've started being active here anyway :)

11. Do you listen to anything while drawing? If so, what

YEs! Absolutely. Usually either music or a podcast. If it's music there's an 80% chance it's the mountain goats. Sometimes it's an audiobook but I fell off finishing Rebecca after we watched the movie in class before I finished reading :/

As for podcasts: it's usually gonna be a binge listen of something. either i'm relistening to a TAZ arc, catching up on Sawbones, or something new, like fantasy high. If it's a new episode of something, it's Dear hank and John or MBMBaM. It's usually not a new TAZ though since I tend to spend those ones focused on the bingo or liveposting. I should really take notes though cause I try to keep the wiki up to date but oh well.

Anyways this makes me miss the time I first finished balance during winter break and immediately relistened to it within like... 8 days and just painted a shitton during it. good times (it was a year ago)

conclusion: the good things in this were the fusions, WD, FINALLY getting to those corrupted gems, and the baxter animation. but if those are the only things that actually shine, i’m just gonna mosey on over to seeing what i missed in ROTTMNT or MP100. sunstone however... pls be my new mom. or my dad!
