Ford RS200 Prototype, 1984. Left without a credible entrant for Group B Ford used the lessons learned on the aborted Escort RS1700T program to develop a new, purposed built, rally car. The RS200 was designed by Ghia, with a mid-mounted engine and four-wheel drive. It was powered by a 1.8 litre turbocharged Ford-Cosworth "BDT" engine producing 250hp in road-going trim, with up to 450hp available for rallying.

Vemac RD200
The original Vemac was powered by the old Japanese domestic market Integra Type-R’s 1.8-litre four placed longitudinally with a bespoke gearbox. These days it’s powered by the JDM Civic Type-R’s 2-litre ‘K20’ unit, sitting transversely in the car, allowing the Civic’s superb six-speed to be retained, but at the cost of raising the car’s centre of gravity a fraction. That should hardly be noticeable, but the power hike from the old 180 to 220PS (217bhp) certainly should be.The Vemac’s carbon and Connolly leather seats feel even lower than the Exige’s and the gearlever is on the driver’s right, mounted on the leather-clad door sill. Standard equipment includes electric windows and air-con strong enough to cope with Japan’s 40C, 90 percent humidity summers, and enough leg- and headroom to accommodate anyone up to 6ft 4in comfortably. The V-TEC motor positioned directly behind the driver’s head makes plenty of noise, which should give some clue as to how truly hardcore a machine the RD200 is. Keeping the V-TEC in its 6000rpm-plus sweet-zone is easy thanks to that slick type-R box, and acceleration through the gears is as smooth as it is rapid. You can easily find yourself bouncing off the 9000rpm rev-limiter. Vemac doesn’t have an official 0-60 time for the RD200.  Steering is light, transmitting every ripple and dip in the road through the wheel, which is a good thing at speed on well-kept roads, though it can lead to tramlining on well-worn highways. The suspension features fully adjustable Showa dampers. In essence, the Vemac  is a race-bred track car that can be used every day.

The World is Running Out of Water
Tumblr media
The world is "running out of water," Makasa Looking Horse says, and if we don't take action soon, it will be too late. Looking Horse, from Six Nations of the Grand River in Ontario, Canada, is one of the hosts of the Ohneganos Ohnegahdę:gyo -- Let's Talk about Water podcast, which won a 2021 David Suzuki Foundation Future Ground Prize. The prize recognizes youth-led movements. It's a podcast created, the Suzuki Foundation says, to "engage Indigenous communities and disseminate research findings by facilitating meaningful discussion about water issues and climate change."
Looking Horse points to Aberfoyle, Ontario, where BlueTriton Brands, Inc., an American beverage company based in Connecticut, has permits to take 3.6 million litres of water a day out of an aquifer there. BlueTriton is the new name of the giant corporation better known as Nestlé Waters North America. The name was changed to BlueTriton Brands in 2021.
She says "they're making millions off our water and selling it. And the thing about aquifer waters that it takes 6,000 to 10,000 years for that water to filter through the ground. We'll never see that water within our lifetime again and that's why it's so important that we stop water extraction."
BlueTriton says, in a report from November 2021, that it has conducted "extensive testing and studies over the years to ensure that their operations do not diminish the availability of water for other users or the environment." The company says "permit conditions require BlueTriton to monitor the natural and pumping-related variations in groundwater and surface water levels." The permit was renewed by the Ontario government in 2021 and runs until November 2026.
Looking Horse's commitment to protecting water was passed down from her parents. Her mother is Dawn Martin-Hill, one of the founders of the Indigenous studies program at McMaster University and the winner of the University of Oklahoma's International Water Prize, for her commitment to improving water security for the people of the Six Nations of the Grand River.
Her father is Chief Arvol Looking Horse, 19th Keeper of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe. He was given the responsibility at age 12, the youngest keeper in history. Looking Horse  says her path into activism and water sovereignty didn't happen overnight. It was a long and encompassing journey full of passion for earth, prayer for water and everything on earth.
Similar to Looking Horse, the United Nations (UN) also has concerns about how much water humans can access. According to a UN report, by 2025 1.8 billion people will be living in countries or regions with absolute water scarcity, and two thirds of the world's population could be living under "water stressed conditions."
In June of 2019, Looking Horse hand delivered a cease and desist letter from the Haudenosaunee Confederacy Chiefs Council to Nestlé Waters in Aberfoyle. In 2021, the council sent another letter to BlueTriton, after the company changed its name, saying "the majority of our people at Six Nations do not have access to clean drinking water... we declare your activities to remove [aquifer] waters under our territories unpermitted and demand that you cease your activity immediately."
The fight for water sovereignty and for clean drinking water continues for Looking Horse. "The urgency worldwide is huge because the world is running out of water. This is only one example of exploitative extraction by a big corporation. This doesn't include all of the pollution and micro plastics that are living in waterways and systems across the globe," she said.
"I've been praying for water and working with water for a very long time, and that's where it started," she said. "You start to learn how valuable water is on a spiritual level, but also on a statistic level. The world is really in a water crisis. So, it's in our culture to protect the water and have a responsibility."

Motor sports introductory car demonstrates its ability
MR2 interrupting the Impreza & Lancer
It was the beginning of fiscal 1999 when the MR2GT, which was modified around the suspension, broke the 10-second mark for the first time as a 2nd class. At present, 2.5 liters and above are the main focus, and it gave light to the two classes, which can't deny the feeling of something half-finished.
That prediction was right, and in the second half of fiscal 1999, a powerful elite model will debut. The first is the Lancer GSR Evolution. WRC to revive Mitsubishi in the rally.
This model was developed for the "". Even at a circuit with a different competition location, it still showed the speed of the rumor ", and marked the 1 second range. Although it is not as good as the MR2GT, it is a machine that you can fully feel its high potential and look forward to the future.
And the Impreza WRX. A more Spartan-polished type RA updated the time of MR2GT and secured the position of the 2nd class champion.

Forgive the Civic monopoly!!, and the Mirage begins the pursuit
It was the 1.6L to 1.8L2 class that vividly showed off the technology that had been refined through motor sports. Honda was strong. With a VTEC (Variable Valve Timing & Lift Mechanism) B16A power unit at its heart, the Civic raced through the narrow circuit.
With its lightweight body of 1040kg, affordable body size, and strong suspension with front and rear double wishbones, the Civic has the potential to compete with even the upper classes. This can be understood from the fact that not only the 1.6-liter class, but also the 1.8's supercharged engine-equipped car is ahead in terms of time.
A car that threatened the Civic's absolute superiority debuted in October. That's the Mirage from the best-performing manufacturer, Mitsubishi. Armed with the 4G92 type called MIVEC (Mitsubishi Multi-Mode Variable Valve Timing & Lift Mechanism), it is aiming for the 1.6-liter throne.
MIVEC has basically the same structure as VTEC, but the output is 175ps, which is 5% higher. The output per liter is the best in the world for naturally aspirated engines.
The suspension has a front strut and a rear multi-link, which contrasts well with the Civic. In terms of time, the difference is only 0.18 seconds, but when the conditions are the same, who will be the winner?

The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut: The Fastest Koenigsegg Ever Forever Koenigsegg
It’s an elite group of hypercars that symbolize some of the most inventive improvements within the worldwide automotive trade. The #1 quickest car in the world is the Devel Sixteen, which prices $1.6 million and might reach alleged speeds of 347 mph / 550 kph with a 0-60 mph time of 1.8 seconds. There’s pleasure built-in as nicely, with the sort of climate control, infotainment, and head/leg room that usually gets glossed over in relation to the fastest automobiles on the earth. If you were reading that and questioning how a lot the fastest automobile on the planet prices, the worth tag is just one other dizzying quantity on the Jesko Absolut's spec sheet. Of course, having the power to afford the Koenigsegg is simply step one in realizing its full potential. The title of the #1 quickest car on the planet is a highly aggressive and continuously evolving one. There have been many contenders for this title over the years, each setting new records and pushing the bounds of automotive technology. As of 2021, the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ currently holds the title for the world’s fastest automotive with a top speed of 304 miles per hour, primarily based on official testing. It has two fins in its rear that make it look like a fighter jet, decreasing drag and permitting it to fly at such astounding speeds. The supercar’s top speed is 330 miles per hour, putting it forward of other supercars on the planet. The car is powered by a 5-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine producing 1600 horsepower and 1500 pounds of torque. Because the gearbox uses a 9-speed lightspeed transmission, no matter what number of gears you miss, you will always change gears in lower than a second. The first photographs of the pre-production version of Jesko Absolut have been released by Koenigsegg. This would be the car’s primary test car in the course of the company’s top-speed growth program. koenigsegg jesko absolut top speed test Beyond the truth that it takes miles of glassy-smooth tarmac, the cars should be exceptionally aerodynamic and be able to devour gobs of air, and gasoline consumption at those speeds is immense. Engineers need to form a car that simply slices through the air while additionally creating super downforce to keep it on the ground. Back in 2020, Koenigsegg founder and CEO Christian Von Koenigsegg predicted a 330-mph top speed for its newest hypercar, the Jesko Absolut. That would make it the quickest manufacturing automobile on the planet, beating out juggernauts just like the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ and the Hennessey Venom F5. After a record-breaking run of 300 miles, the Speed document for the Super Sport 300 was damaged by Wikipedia. The Koenigsegg Jesko will attain 330 MPH in 2.5 seconds, because of its 5.0L V8 that powers the rear-wheel-drive monster that the automotive is. A third automobile that could probably cost $3 million dollars is the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, which is doubtless certainly one of the rarest and most unique Lamborghini models ever produced. The Veneno Roadster was created to rejoice Lamborghini’s fiftieth anniversary, and solely nine units were produced. It has a mid-mounted 6.5-liter V12 engine that may produce up to 740 horsepower, and it could attain a top speed of 221 miles per hour. Powering the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut is a twin-turbocharged 5.0-litre V8 engine that outputs 955kW/1500Nm should you fill it up with E85, although it’s also obtained a flex-fuel possibility too. This is a automobile powered on both electricity and gasoline, supplementing its forces with an 800-volt electrical system, just like those spotted on latest Formula 1 vehicles. The Rimac Nevera, the first fully-electric automobile to make its entrance on our record final yr, remains an indication of the altering times. We have a dedicated rating of the most effective luxurious electric cars of the year if you would like to see other choices in that category. On April 26, 2022, the automaker debuted its new graphite gray Jesko Absolut. The Absolut model name is derived from the reality that the fastest Koenigsegg we now have ever built is here, according to CEO and Founder Christian von von Koenigsegg. The collectible is ready on a sleek display stand, complete with a detailed nameplate, declaring its prestigious spot within the Hypercar League Collection. Embrace the unbridled spirit of racing with the Hot Wheels Car Culture Circuit Legends Koenigsegg Agera R (HCJ), a miniature powerhouse that celebrates some of the iconic hypercars in modern history. Meticulously crafted to capture the essence of the Swedish automotive masterpiece, this Hot Wheels version showcases the sleek aerodynamic design and distinctive detailing that the model is understood for. Both vehicles have different specifications and different engineering, making them distinctive in their own way. The Bugatti Chiron is powered by an eight.0-liter W16 engine with 1500 horsepower and 1180 lb-ft of torque. The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ presently holds the title for the world’s quickest automotive with a top speed of 304 miles per hour, although there are a number of different contenders vying for this title. The race to supply the fastest car in the world is an ongoing and thrilling one which displays the fixed push for innovation and development in the automotive trade. On the other hand, the Jesko Absolut, introduced in 2020, was created with a unique objective in thoughts. The Jesko Absolut was designed to be the fastest production car on the earth and has a sleeker, extra aerodynamic physique compared to the Jesko. It features an elongated and widened nostril, a longer rear and a completely enclosed underbody.

My hubby has issues with texture, especially fruit and veg, so I’m always experimenting with getting his 5 a day into his diet and helping him feel full. One of his favourites is lentil soup, and apple crumble, so I thought I’d share a recipe on how to make them, (with appropriate links to the recipe site I used!)
Lentil soup
Ingredients:
250g red lentils
2 medium carrots
2 medium potatoes
1 onion
1 turnip (swede)
Ham or veg stock cubes (I use 2-3)
1.8 litres of water
Method:
Wash and cut all the vegetables into cubes.
Rinse lentils and drain all the water, then add to water and stock cubes and boil for 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes, add all the vegetables and boil for another 10 minutes, then turn down to a simmer for about an hour or until all the vegetables are soft and the lentils have turned yellow in colour.
Once everything is cooked through and soft, turn off the heat and let it rest for a couple minutes and then use a hand blender or just a regular blender to blend it all until nice and smooth!
This is really good for freezing and storing if you have trouble cooking sometimes, it’s a good ready meal and you can pair it with some sandwiches or use as a starter for a Sunday roast!
(Here’s the link to this recipe:- https://www.oursocalledlife.co.uk/recipes/scottish-lentil-soup-recipe/ )
Now, apple crumble, or really caramel apple crumble. This is a favourite of mine to make and it’s so yummy, but I don’t recommend making a lot of it, it’s a bit sickly sweet! I start making it the night before I need it because i soak the apples in orange juice, helps give it a small tartness that balances out the caramel a bit.
Ingredients:
10 green cooking apples
2 tins of caramel (or if you’re able to make it from scratch be my guest!)
1 litre of orange juice
2 tablespoons each of cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger
Crumble mix: either ready made if you are so inclined or
50g cold butter
100g of flour
50g Demerara sugar
Method:
Wash peel and cut all the apples into same size chunks, about bite sized pieces if you can.
Soak all the apple pieces in orange juice overnight or for a couple hours at least.
Pre heat your oven to 180°c or gas mark 4
Drain the orange juice after soaking, but try to keep at least a half cup of the juice.
In a bowl, put the caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger into a bowl and mix together. Just enough to have all the spices mixed to the caramel.
The slowly add all the apples into the caramel mixture, coating all of it until all the apples are in. You can then add in the cup of orange juice to make the caramel less thick if you wish.
Then in a ceramic tray, cover the bottom of it with the apple caramel mixture, making sure to spread it evenly across the tray.
Crumble topping: add butter and flour to a bowl and rub together into breadcrumbs, I like to wash my hand in cold water, it helps the butter stay cold and not melt.
Once you’ve made it into breadcrumbs, add the sugar and mix until combined
Add the topping to the apples and bake in the oven for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Again it’s quite sweet so be careful not to eat too much!
Happy cooking!

Volvo P1800 (with Aston Martin DP208 engine)
With the introduction of the Volvo P1800 in January 1960 in Brussels, the story of this unique car begins. The shape of the Volvo P1800 is the work (from 1957) of Pelle Petterson then working for Pietro Frua in Italy. The first series, starting with the model year 1961, was assembled in the UK by Jensen motors in West Bromwich. The bodies were delivered by train from the Pressed Steel company works in Lynnwood. The cars were powered by the proven Volvo B18 1.8 litre carburetted engine with 90hp. It was identical with the engine from the Volvo 122 S saloon which, according to Aston Martin chief Sir David Brown, was somewhat inadequate to power a proper sports car and he decided to commence a rather bold experiment. In March 1961 he commissioned his engineers to develop a 2.5 litre 4-cylinder engine with the potential to be sold in large numbers to various companies. The internal code for the project was DP208 and the project responsible was none other than legendary John Wyre (Astons racing manager responsible for Aston Martin’s 1959 Le Mans victory). He had a budget of 3’000 pounds available (the about 36’000 Swiss francs). The engineering team around (equally famous) Tadek Marek jumped at the task and shortened a existing DB4 engine by cutting off two cylinders. The crankcase, crankshaft and camshaft had to be designed and built from scratch while the liners, pistons and valves could be taken straight from the six cylinder DB4 engine. After the first three engines had been completed, Sir David Brown made an agreement with the then UK Volvo importer Charles Singer to test one of the units in a Volvo P1800 and he commissioned John Wyer with the task.
Over the following 12 months the car was tested extensively, among others by Marek’s wife and a successful corporation with Volvo should then have materialised. In the meantime, Volvo unfortunately had decided to terminate its corporation with Jensen due to major quality problems with the coachwork construction and painting process and had transferred the complete construction of the P1800 to the Volvo main site at Lundby near Göteborg in Sweden. Perhaps the - rather complex - engine proved to be too costly for Volvo; after all the P 1800 was advertised at below $4’000 in the USA, and the targeted weight saving could also not be realised. As a result, project DP208 was cancelled probably in 1964, with the test mule scrapped and the remaining engines used for other projects.

The forgotten Mk3 Mondeo engine - the 1.8 SCI
Walk into a car parts store, any car parts store, and ask them for a set of spark plugs for a Ford Mondeo 1.8 SCI. What will likely happen next, is they'll guide you to the spark plugs for the regular 1.8 petrol, the one that goes almost hand-in-hand with many of the Edge and Zetec models up and down the country. At this point, you respond with "No, not *that* 1.8, the direct injection one!", to which they'll probably look at you like you've just told them they have six heads. On the way home, you'll stop to fuel up, and quickly glance over at the fuelling bay beside yours, in which the owner of a regular 1.8 has just paid significantly less for their tank of fuel than you have. As you mutter something about the government's decision to change standard petrol to 10% ethanol and leave the E5 fuel exclusive to the premium grade, a tear drops into your coffee, which you place back into your slide-out cupholder before driving away home while questioning why you didn't just buy the standard 1.8.
The Mondeo SCI is one of those strange anomalies mostly forgotten now, but still deserves some love and attention. Exclusive to Ghia and Ghia X models, the 1.8 SCI could be identified by a small badge on the back of the car. A direct quote from an old Ford Mondeo brochure reads "The 1.8-litre Duratec SCi engine uses direct petrol injection for improved fuel economy and lower emissions." It is worth noting that the 1.8 SCi also has slightly more power than the regular 1.8. Of course, literally anyone currently alive on this planet will agree that this is a fantastic thing. And that's because it is. Anyone who disagrees is lying to you. Or the boss of an oil company.
Searching up the Mondeo 1.8 SCI online will provide you with some very interesting results. One person from many years ago stated that even the Ford mechanics did not recognise what it was. And if you're searching for parts - good luck - it's almost impossible now. The fuel injectors especially so.
The very helpful HowManyLeft website shows some interesting statistics. As of quarter 2 of 2023, 73 Ghia models are currently licensed and taxed on UK roads. A further 42 are currently registered as SORN, which for readers outside of the UK, means that the car is currently not used on public roads. The slightly more expensive Ghia X model is even more rare - with 22 licensed and just 13 SORN. Very sad. Sadly, with the price of premium fuel, and the fact that it's almost impossible to find parts, this particular Mondeo variant will soon be lost to time, only remembered in ancient forum posts, old photos, and stories spread by families and friends... "Remember when Dave put the wrong petrol in the car and Vanessa nearly killed him using nothing but an empty cardboard box? Those were good times... I loved that car."
Mondeo SCIs do occasionally come up for sale online, usually in questionable condition. Keep a look out for them! Thank you for reading this post. If you found this by trying to find parts, I am sorry that I am unable to assist! However - don't give up - keep searching the used/refurbished parts market! It would be a shame to let something like this become completely forgotten.
Thanks for reading.
